起初神创造天地

¹起初，　神创造天地。In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

²地是空虚混沌，渊面黑暗；　神的灵运行在水面上。Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

第一日：光

³神说：“要有光”，就有了光。And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

⁴神看光是好的，就把光暗分开了。And God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.

⁵神称光为“昼”，称暗为“夜”。有晚上，有早晨，这是头一日。God called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

第二日：空气分开上下的水

⁶神说：“诸水之间要有空气，将水分为上下。”And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.”

⁷神就造出空气，将空气以下的水、空气以上的水分开了。事就这样成了。So God made the expanse and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so.

⁸神称空气为“天”。有晚上，有早晨，是第二日。God called the expanse “sky.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

第三日：旱地与植物

⁹神说：“天下的水要聚在一处，使旱地露出来。”事就这样成了。And God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered into one place, so that the dry land may appear.” And it was so.

¹⁰神称旱地为“地”，称水的聚处为“海”。　神看着是好的。God called the dry land “earth,” and the gathering of waters He called “seas.” And God saw that it was good.

¹¹神说：“地要发生青草和结种子的菜蔬，并结果子的树木，各从其类，果子都包着核。”事就这样成了。Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth vegetation: seed-bearing plants and fruit trees, each bearing fruit with seed according to its kind.” And it was so.

¹²于是地发生了青草和结种子的菜蔬，各从其类；并结果子的树木，各从其类；果子都包着核。　神看着是好的。The earth produced vegetation: seed-bearing plants according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

¹³有晚上，有早晨，是第三日。And there was evening, and there was morning—the third day.

第四日：日月星辰

¹⁴神说：“天上要有光体，可以分昼夜，作记号，定节令、日子、年岁，And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to distinguish between the day and the night, and let them be signs to mark the seasons and days and years.

¹⁵并要发光在天空，普照在地上。”事就这样成了。And let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth.” And it was so.

¹⁶于是　神造了两个大光，大的管昼，小的管夜，又造众星，God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. And He made the stars as well.

¹⁷就把这些光摆列在天空，普照在地上，God set these lights in the expanse of the sky to shine upon the earth,

¹⁸管理昼夜，分别明暗。　神看着是好的。to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁹有晚上，有早晨，是第四日。And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.

第五日：水中的生物与飞鸟

²⁰神说：“水要多多滋生有生命的物；要有雀鸟飞在地面以上，天空之中。”And God said, “Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.”

²¹神就造出大鱼和水中所滋生各样有生命的动物，各从其类；又造出各样飞鸟，各从其类。　神看着是好的。So God created the great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters teemed according to their kinds, and every winged bird after its kind. And God saw that it was good.

²²神就赐福给这一切，说：“滋生繁多，充满海中的水；雀鸟也要多生在地上。”Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters of the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

²³有晚上，有早晨，是第五日。And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

第六日：地上的活物

²⁴神说：“地要生出活物来，各从其类；牲畜、昆虫、野兽，各从其类。”事就这样成了。And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, land crawlers, and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

²⁵于是　神造出野兽，各从其类；牲畜，各从其类；地上一切昆虫，各从其类。　神看着是好的。God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that crawls upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

照神的形像造人

²⁶神说：“我们要照着我们的形象、按着我们的样式造人，使他们管理海里的鱼、空中的鸟、地上的牲畜，和全地，并地上所爬的一切昆虫。”Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”

²⁷神就照着自己的形象造人，乃是照着他的形象造男造女。So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

²⁸神就赐福给他们，又对他们说：“要生养众多，遍满地面，治理这地，也要管理海里的鱼、空中的鸟，和地上各样行动的活物。”God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”

²⁹神说：“看哪，我将遍地上一切结种子的菜蔬和一切树上所结有核的果子全赐给你们作食物。Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food.

³⁰至于地上的走兽和空中的飞鸟，并各样爬在地上有生命的物，我将青草赐给它们作食物。”事就这样成了。And to every beast of the earth and every bird of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth—everything that has the breath of life in it—I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

³¹神看着一切所造的都甚好。有晚上，有早晨，是第六日。And God looked upon all that He had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

第七日：神安息

¹天地万物都造齐了。Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.

²到第七日，　神造物的工已经完毕，就在第七日歇了他一切的工，安息了。And by the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all His work.

耶和华神用尘土造人

⁴创造天地的来历，在耶和华　神造天地的日子，乃是这样，This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made them.

⁵野地还没有草木，田间的菜蔬还没有长起来；因为耶和华　神还没有降雨在地上，也没有人耕地，Now no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth, nor had any plant of the field sprouted, for the LORD God had not yet sent rain upon the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground.

⁶但有雾气从地上腾，滋润遍地。But springs welled up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.

⁷耶和华　神用地上的尘土造人，将生气吹在他鼻孔里，他就成了有灵的活人，名叫亚当。Then the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being.

伊甸园与两棵树

⁸耶和华　神在东方的伊甸立了一个园子，把所造的人安置在那里。And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, where He placed the man He had formed.

⁹耶和华　神使各样的树从地里长出来，可以悦人的眼目，其上的果子好作食物。园子当中又有生命树和分别善恶的树。Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

¹⁰有河从伊甸流出来，滋润那园子，从那里分为四道：Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it branched into four headwaters:

¹¹第一道名叫比逊，就是环绕哈腓拉全地的。在那里有金子，The name of the first river is the Pishon; it winds through the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.

¹²并且那地的金子是好的；在那里又有珍珠和红玛瑙。And the gold of that land is pure, and bdellium and onyx are found there.

¹³第二道河名叫基训，就是环绕古实全地的。The name of the second river is the Gihon; it winds through the whole land of Cush.

¹⁴第三道河名叫底格里斯，流在亚述的东边。第四道河就是幼发拉底河。The name of the third river is the Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

¹⁵耶和华　神将那人安置在伊甸园，使他修理，看守。Then the LORD God took the man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and keep it.

¹⁶耶和华　神吩咐他说：“园中各样树上的果子，你可以随意吃，And the LORD God commanded him, “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden,

¹⁷只是分别善恶树上的果子，你不可吃，因为你吃的日子必定死！”but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.”

¹⁸耶和华　神说：“那人独居不好，我要为他造一个配偶帮助他。”The LORD God also said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make for him a suitable helper.”

¹⁹耶和华　神用土所造成的野地各样走兽和空中各样飞鸟都带到那人面前，看他叫什么。那人怎样叫各样的活物，那就是它的名字。And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

²⁰那人便给一切牲畜和空中飞鸟、野地走兽都起了名；只是那人没有遇见配偶帮助他。The man gave names to all the livestock, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found.

²¹耶和华　神使他沉睡，他就睡了；于是取下他的一条肋骨，又把肉合起来。So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, and while he slept, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the area with flesh.

²²耶和华　神就用那人身上所取的肋骨造成一个女人，领她到那人跟前。And from the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man, He made a woman and brought her to him.

²³那人说：这是我骨中的骨，肉中的肉，可以称她为“女人”，因为她是从“男人”身上取出来的。And the man said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for out of man she was taken.”

²⁴因此，人要离开父母，与妻子连合，二人成为一体。For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

三个十四代

¹⁷这样，从亚伯拉罕到大卫共有十四代；从大卫到迁至巴比伦的时候也有十四代；从迁至巴比伦的时候到基督又有十四代。In all, then, there were fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

马利亚从圣灵怀孕

¹⁸耶稣基督降生的事记在下面：他母亲马利亚已经许配了约瑟，还没有迎娶，马利亚就从圣灵怀了孕。This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹她丈夫约瑟是个义人，不愿意明明地羞辱她，想要暗暗地把她休了。Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and was unwilling to disgrace her publicly, he resolved to divorce her quietly.

天使在梦中向约瑟显现

²⁰正思念这事的时候，有主的使者向他梦中显现，说：“大卫的子孙约瑟，不要怕！只管娶过你的妻子马利亚来，因她所怀的孕是从圣灵来的。But after he had pondered these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to embrace Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

²¹她将要生一个儿子，你要给他起名叫耶稣，因他要将自己的百姓从罪恶里救出来。”She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

应验先知的话

²²这一切的事成就是要应验主借先知所说的话，All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

²³说：必有童女怀孕生子；人要称他的名为以马内利。（以马内利翻出来就是“　神与我们同在”。）“Behold, the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means, “God with us”).

约瑟遵命娶马利亚

²⁴约瑟醒了，起来，就遵着主使者的吩咐把妻子娶过来；When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and embraced Mary as his wife.

²⁵只是没有和她同房，等她生了儿子（有古卷：等她生了头胎的儿子），就给他起名叫耶稣。But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus.
