前三个勇士

⁸大卫勇士的名字记在下面：他革扪人约设·巴设，又称伊斯尼人亚底挪，他是军长的统领，一时击杀了八百人。These are the names of David’s mighty men: Josheb-basshebeth the Tahchemonite was chief of the Three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed at one time.

⁹其次是亚合人朵多的儿子以利亚撒。从前非利士人聚集要打仗，以色列人迎着上去，有跟随大卫的三个勇士向非利士人骂阵，其中有以利亚撒。Next in command was Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he went with David to taunt the Philistines who had gathered for battle at Pas-dammim. The men of Israel retreated,

¹⁰他起来击杀非利士人，直到手臂疲乏，手黏住刀把。那日耶和华使以色列人大获全胜；众民在以利亚撒后头专夺财物。but Eleazar stood his ground and struck the Philistines until his hand grew weary and stuck to his sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. Then the troops returned to him, but only to plunder the dead.

¹¹其次是哈拉人亚基的儿子沙玛。一日，非利士人聚集成群，在一块长满红豆的田里，众民就在非利士人面前逃跑。And after him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines had banded together near a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them.

¹²沙玛却站在那田间击杀非利士人，救护了那田。耶和华使以色列人大获全胜。But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field, defended it, and struck down the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.

冒死打水

¹³收割的时候，有三十个勇士中的三个人下到亚杜兰洞见大卫。非利士的军兵在利乏音谷安营。At harvest time, three of the thirty chief men went down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a company of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.

¹⁴那时大卫在山寨，非利士人的防营在伯利恒。At that time David was in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was at Bethlehem.

¹⁵大卫渴想，说：“甚愿有人将伯利恒城门旁、井里的水打来给我喝。”David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!”

¹⁶这三个勇士就闯过非利士人的营盘，从伯利恒城门旁的井里打水，拿来奉给大卫。他却不肯喝，将水奠在耶和华面前，So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine camp, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,

¹⁷说：“耶和华啊，这三个人冒死去打水；这水好像他们的血一般，我断不敢喝。”如此，大卫不肯喝。这是三个勇士所做的事。saying, “Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this! Is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives?” So he refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

亚比筛

¹⁸洗鲁雅的儿子、约押的兄弟亚比筛是这三个勇士的首领；他举枪杀了三百人，就在三个勇士里得了名。Now Abishai, the brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah, was chief of the Three, and he wielded his spear against three hundred men, killed them, and won a name along with the Three.

¹⁹他在这三个勇士里是最尊贵的，所以作他们的首领，只是不及前三个勇士。Was he not more honored than the Three? And he became their commander, even though he was not included among the Three.

比拿雅

²⁰有甲薛勇士耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅行过大能的事；他杀了摩押人亚利伊勒的两个儿子，又在下雪的时候下坑里去，杀了一个狮子，And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a man of valor from Kabzeel, a man of many exploits. He struck down two champions of Moab, and on a snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.

²¹又杀了一个强壮的埃及人；埃及人手里拿着枪，比拿雅只拿着棍子下去，从埃及人手里夺过枪来，用那枪将他杀死。He also struck down an Egyptian, a huge man. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club, snatched the spear from his hand, and killed the Egyptian with his own spear.

²²这是耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅所行的事，就在三个勇士里得了名。These were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who won a name along with the three mighty men.

²³他比那三十个勇士都尊贵，只是不及前三个勇士。大卫立他作护卫长。He was most honored among the Thirty, but he did not become one of the Three. And David appointed him over his guard.

三十个勇士

²⁴三十个勇士里有约押的兄弟亚撒黑，伯利恒人朵多的儿子伊勒哈难，Now these were members of the Thirty: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

²⁵哈律人沙玛，哈律人以利加，Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

²⁶帕勒提人希利斯，提哥亚人益吉的儿子以拉，Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

²⁷亚拿突人亚比以谢，户沙人米本乃，Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

²⁸亚合人撒们，尼陀法人玛哈莱，Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

²⁹尼陀法人巴拿的儿子希立，便雅悯族、基比亚人利拜的儿子以太，Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjamites,

³⁰比拉顿人比拿雅，迦实溪人希太，Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai from the brooks of Gaash,

大卫数点百姓

¹耶和华又向以色列人发怒，就激动大卫，使他吩咐人去数点以色列人和犹大人。Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He stirred up David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”

²大卫就吩咐跟随他的元帅约押说：“你去走遍以色列众支派，从但直到别是巴，数点百姓，我好知道他们的数目。”So the king said to Joab the commander of his army, who was with him, “Go now throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and register the troops, so that I may know their number.”

³约押对王说：“无论百姓多少，愿耶和华—你的　神再加增百倍，使我主我王亲眼得见。我主我王何必喜悦行这事呢？”But Joab replied to the king, “May the LORD your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?”

⁴但王的命令胜过约押和众军长。约押和众军长就从王面前出去，数点以色列的百姓。Nevertheless, the king’s word prevailed against Joab and against the commanders of the army. So Joab and the commanders of the army departed from the presence of the king to register the troops of Israel.

⁵他们过了约旦河，在迦得谷中、城的右边亚罗珥安营，与雅谢相对，They crossed the Jordan and camped near Aroer, south of the town in the middle of the valley, and proceeded toward Gad and Jazer.

⁶又到了基列和他停·合示地，又到了但·雅安，绕到西顿，Then they went to Gilead and the land of Tahtim-hodshi, and on to Dan-jaan and around to Sidon.

⁷来到泰尔的保障，并希未人和迦南人的各城，又到犹大南方的别是巴。They went toward the fortress of Tyre and all the cities of the Hivites and Canaanites. Finally, they went on to the Negev of Judah, to Beersheba.

⁸他们走遍全地，过了九个月零二十天，就回到耶路撒冷。At the end of nine months and twenty days, having gone through the whole land, they returned to Jerusalem.

⁹约押将百姓的总数奏告于王：以色列拿刀的勇士有八十万；犹大有五十万。And Joab reported to the king the total number of the troops. In Israel there were 800,000 men of valor who drew the sword, and in Judah there were 500,000.

大卫自责，三样灾

¹⁰大卫数点百姓以后，就心中自责，祷告耶和华说：“我行这事大有罪了。耶和华啊，求你除掉仆人的罪孽，因我所行的甚是愚昧。”After David had numbered the troops, his conscience was stricken and he said to the LORD, “I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, O LORD, I beg You to take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have acted very foolishly.”

¹¹大卫早晨起来，耶和华的话临到先知迦得，就是大卫的先见，说：When David got up in the morning, the word of the LORD had come to Gad the prophet, David’s seer:

¹²“你去告诉大卫，说耶和华如此说：‘我有三样灾，随你选择一样，我好降与你。’”“Go and tell David that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am offering you three options. Choose one of them, and I will carry it out against you.’”

¹³于是迦得来见大卫，对他说：“你愿意国中有七年的饥荒呢？是在你敌人面前逃跑，被追赶三个月呢？是在你国中有三日的瘟疫呢？现在你要揣摩思想，我好回复那差我来的。”So Gad went and said to David, “Do you choose to endure three years of famine in your land, three months of fleeing the pursuit of your enemies, or three days of plague upon your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”

¹⁴大卫对迦得说：“我甚为难！我愿落在耶和华的手里，因为他有丰盛的怜悯。我不愿落在人的手里。”David answered Gad, “I am deeply distressed. Please, let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.”

瘟疫降临

¹⁵于是，耶和华降瘟疫与以色列人，自早晨到所定的时候；从但直到别是巴，民间死了七万人。So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel from that morning until the appointed time, and seventy thousand of the people from Dan to Beersheba died.

¹⁶天使向耶路撒冷伸手要灭城的时候，耶和华后悔，就不降这灾了，吩咐灭民的天使说：“够了！住手吧！”那时耶和华的使者在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场那里。But when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented from the calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

¹⁷大卫看见灭民的天使，就祷告耶和华说：“我犯了罪，行了恶；但这群羊做了什么呢？愿你的手攻击我和我的父家。”When David saw the angel striking down the people, he said to the LORD, “Surely I, the shepherd, have sinned and acted wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Please, let Your hand fall upon me and my father’s house.”

在亚劳拿的禾场筑坛

¹⁸当日，迦得来见大卫，对他说：“你上去，在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场上为耶和华筑一座坛。”And that day Gad came to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”

¹⁹大卫就照着迦得奉耶和华名所说的话上去了。So David went up at the word of Gad, just as the LORD had commanded.

²⁰亚劳拿观看，见王和他臣仆前来，就迎接出去，脸伏于地，向王下拜，When Araunah looked out and saw the king and his servants coming toward him, he went out and bowed facedown before the king.

²¹说：“我主我王为何来到仆人这里呢？”大卫说：“我要买你这禾场，为耶和华筑一座坛，使民间的瘟疫止住。”“Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” Araunah said. “To buy your threshing floor,” David replied, “that I may build an altar to the LORD, so that the plague upon the people may be halted.”

²²亚劳拿对大卫说：“我主我王，你喜悦用什么，就拿去献祭。看哪，这里有牛可以作燔祭，有打粮的器具和套牛的轭可以当柴烧。Araunah said to David, “May my lord the king take whatever seems good to him and offer it up. Here are the oxen for a burnt offering and the threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood.

²³王啊，这一切，我亚劳拿都奉给你”；又对王说：“愿耶和华—你的　神悦纳你。”O king, Araunah gives all these to the king.” He also said to the king, “May the LORD your God accept you.”

²⁴王对亚劳拿说：“不然。我必要按着价值向你买；我不肯用白得之物作燔祭献给耶和华—我的　神。”大卫就用五十舍客勒银子买了那禾场与牛。“No,” replied the king, “I insist on paying a price, for I will not offer to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

²⁵大卫在那里为耶和华筑了一座坛，献燔祭和平安祭。如此，耶和华垂听国民所求的，瘟疫在以色列人中就止住了。And there he built an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then the LORD answered the prayers on behalf of the land, and the plague upon Israel was halted.

耶稣知道人心

²³当耶稣在耶路撒冷过逾越节的时候，有许多人看见他所行的神迹，就信了他的名。While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name.

²⁴耶稣却不将自己交托他们；因为他知道万人，But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew them all.

²⁵也用不着谁见证人怎样，因他知道人心里所存的。He did not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.

尼哥底母夜访耶稣

¹有一个法利赛人，名叫尼哥底母，是犹太人的官。Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews.

²这人夜里来见耶稣，说：“拉比，我们知道你是由　神那里来作师傅的；因为你所行的神迹，若没有　神同在，无人能行。”He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs You are doing if God were not with him.”

³耶稣回答说：“我实实在在地告诉你，人若不重生，就不能见　神的国。”Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”

⁴尼哥底母说：“人已经老了，如何能重生呢？岂能再进母腹生出来吗？”“How can a man be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time to be born?”

从水和圣灵生

⁵耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你，人若不是从水和圣灵生的，就不能进　神的国。Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

⁶从肉身生的就是肉身；从灵生的就是灵。Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

⁷我说：‘你们必须重生’，你不要以为希奇。Do not be amazed that I said, ‘You must be born again.’

⁸风随着意思吹，你听见风的响声，却不晓得从哪里来，往哪里去；凡从圣灵生的，也是如此。”The wind blows where it wishes. You hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

地上的事与天上的事

⁹尼哥底母问他说：“怎能有这事呢？”“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.

¹⁰耶稣回答说：“你是以色列人的先生，还不明白这事吗？“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and you do not understand these things?

¹¹我实实在在地告诉你，我们所说的是我们知道的；我们所见证的是我们见过的；你们却不领受我们的见证。Truly, truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, and yet you people do not accept our testimony.

¹²我对你们说地上的事，你们尚且不信，若说天上的事，如何能信呢？If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

¹³除了从天降下、仍旧在天的人子，没有人升过天。No one has ascended into heaven except the One who descended from heaven—the Son of Man.
