1從前以法蓮說話，人都戰兢，他在以色列中居處高位；但他在事奉的事上犯罪就死了。When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling; he was exalted in Israel. But he incurred guilt through Baal, and he died.
2現今他們罪上加罪，用銀子為自己鑄造偶像，就是照自己的聰明製造，都是匠人的工作。有人論說，獻祭的人可以向牛犢親嘴。Now they sin more and more and make for themselves cast images, idols skillfully made from their silver, all of them the work of craftsmen. People say of them, “They offer human sacrifice and kiss the calves!”
3因此，他們必如早晨的雲霧，又如速散的甘露，像場上的被狂風吹去，又像煙氣騰於窗外。Therefore they will be like the morning mist, like the early dew that vanishes, like chaff blown from a threshing floor, like smoke through an open window.
4自從你出埃及地以來，我就是耶和華─你的 神。在我以外，你不可認識別神；除我以外並沒有救主。Yet I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt; you know no God but Me, for there is no Savior besides Me.
5我曾在曠野乾旱之地認識你。I knew you in the wilderness, in the land of drought.
6這些民照我所賜的食物得了飽足；既得飽足，心就高傲，忘記了我。When they had pasture, they became satisfied; when they were satisfied, their hearts became proud, and as a result they forgot Me.
7因此，我向他們如獅子，又如豹伏在道旁。So like a lion I will pounce on them; like a leopard I will lurk by the path.
8我遇見他們必像的母熊，撕裂他們的胸膛（或譯：心膜）。在那裡，我必像母獅吞吃他們；野獸必撕裂他們。Like a bear robbed of her cubs I will attack them, and I will tear open their chests. There I will devour them like a lion, like a wild beast tearing them apart.
9以色列啊，你與我反對，就是反對幫助你的，自取敗壞。You are destroyed, O Israel, because you are against Me—against your helper.
10你曾求我說：給我立王和首領。現在你的王在哪裡呢？治理你的在哪裡呢？讓他在你所有的城中拯救你吧！Where is your king now to save you in all your cities, and the rulers to whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”?
11我在怒氣中將王賜你，又在烈怒中將王廢去。So in My anger I gave you a king, and in My wrath I took him away.
12以法蓮的罪孽包裹；他的罪惡收藏。The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is stored up.
13產婦的疼痛必臨到他身上；他是無智慧之子，到了產期不當遲延。Labor pains come upon him, but he is an unwise son. When the time arrives, he fails to present himself at the opening of the womb.
14我必救贖他們脫離陰間，救贖他們脫離死亡。死亡啊，你的在哪裡呢？陰間哪，你的毀滅在哪裡呢？在我眼前絕無後悔之事。I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem them from Death. Where, O Death, are your plagues? Where, O Sheol, is your sting? Compassion is hidden from My eyes.
15他在弟兄中雖然茂盛，必有東風颳來，就是耶和華的風從曠野上來。他的泉源必乾；他的源頭必竭；仇敵必擄掠他所積蓄的一切寶器。Although he flourishes among his brothers, an east wind will come—a wind from the LORD rising up from the desert. His fountain will fail, and his spring will run dry. The wind will plunder his treasury of every precious article.
16撒馬利亞必擔當自己的罪，因為悖逆她的 神。她必倒在刀下；嬰孩必被摔死；孕婦必被剖開。Samaria will bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword; their little ones will be dashed to pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.
