1以法蓮吃風，且追趕東風，時常增添虛謊和強暴，與亞述立約，把油送到埃及。Ephraim feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; he multiplies lies and violence; he makes a covenant with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.
2耶和華與猶大爭辯，必照雅各所行的懲罰他，按他所做的報應他。The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah. He will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.
3他在腹中抓住哥哥的，壯年的時候與 神較力，In the womb he grasped his brother’s heel, and in his vigor he wrestled with God.
4–5與天使較力，並且得勝，哭泣懇求，在伯特利遇見耶和華。耶和華─萬軍之 神在那裡曉諭我們以色列人；耶和華是他可記念的名。Yes, he struggled with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought His favor; he found Him at Bethel and spoke with Him there— the LORD God of Hosts, the LORD is His name of renown.
6所以你當歸向你的 神，謹守仁愛、公平，常常等候你的 神。But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and always wait on your God.
7以法蓮是，手裡有詭詐的天平，愛行欺騙。A merchant loves to defraud with dishonest scales in his hands.
8以法蓮說：我果然成了富足，得了財寶；我所勞碌得來的，人必不見有甚麼不義，可算為罪的。And Ephraim boasts: “How rich I have become! I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors, they can find in me no iniquity that is sinful.”
9自從你出埃及地以來，我就是耶和華─你的 神；我必使你再住帳棚，如在大會的日子一樣。But I am the LORD your God ever since the land of Egypt. I will again make you dwell in tents, as in the days of the appointed feast.
10我已曉諭眾先知，並且加增默示，藉先知設立比喻。I spoke through the prophets and multiplied their visions; I gave parables through the prophets.
11基列人沒有罪孽嗎？他們全然是虛假的。人在吉甲獻牛犢為祭，他們的祭壇好像田間犁溝中的。Is there iniquity in Gilead? They will surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of stones in the furrows of the field.
12從前雅各逃到，以色列為得妻服事人，為得妻與人放羊。Jacob fled to the land of Aram and Israel worked for a wife—for a wife he tended sheep.
13耶和華藉先知領以色列從埃及上來；以色列也藉先知而得保存。But by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.
14以法蓮大大惹動主怒，所以他流血的罪必歸在他身上。主必將那因以法蓮所受的羞辱歸還他。Ephraim has provoked bitter anger, so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt upon him and repay him for his contempt.
