1泰爾王將香柏木運到大衛那裡，又差遣使者和石匠、木匠給大衛建造宮殿。Now Hiram king of Tyre sent envoys to David, along with cedar logs, stonemasons, and carpenters, to build a palace for him.
2大衛就知道耶和華堅立他作以色列王，又為自己的民以色列，使他的國興旺。And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and had highly exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
3大衛在耶路撒冷又立后妃，又生兒女。And David took more wives in Jerusalem and became the father of more sons and daughters.
4在耶路撒冷所生的眾子是沙母亞、朔罷、拿單、所羅門、These are the names of the children born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
5益轄、以利書亞、以法列、Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet,
6挪迦、尼斐、雅非亞、Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia,
7以利沙瑪、比利雅大、以利法列。Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
8非利士人聽見大衛受膏作以色列眾人的王，非利士眾人就上來尋索大衛。大衛聽見，就出去迎敵。When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they all went in search of him; but David learned of this and went out to face them.
9非利士人來了，布散在利乏音谷。Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim.
10大衛求問 神，說：「我可以上去攻打非利士人嗎？你將他們交在我手裡嗎？」耶和華說：「你可以上去，我必將他們交在你手裡。」So David inquired of God, “Should I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” “Go,” replied the LORD, “for I will deliver them into your hand.”
11非利士人來到巴力‧毘拉心，大衛在那裡殺敗他們。大衛說：「 神藉我的手敵人，如同水沖去一般」；因此稱那地方為巴力‧毘拉心。So David and his men went up to Baal-perazim, where he defeated the Philistines and said, “Like a bursting flood, God has burst out against my enemies by my hand.” So they called that place Baal-perazim.
12非利士人將神像撇在那裡，大衛吩咐人用火焚燒了。There the Philistines abandoned their gods, and David ordered that they be burned in the fire.
13非利士人又布散在利乏音谷。Once again the Philistines raided the valley.
14大衛又求問 神。 神說：「不要一直地上去，要轉到他們後頭，從桑林對面攻打他們。So David again inquired of God, who answered him, “Do not march up after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the balsam trees.
15你聽見桑樹梢上有，就要出戰，因為 神已經在你前頭去攻打非利士人的軍隊。」As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
16大衛就遵著 神所吩咐的，攻打非利士人的軍隊，從基遍直到基色。So David did as God had commanded him, and they struck down the army of the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.
17於是大衛的名傳揚到列國，耶和華使列國都懼怕他。And David’s fame went out into every land, and the LORD caused all nations to fear him.
