1大衛與千夫長、百夫長，就是一切首領商議。Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.
2大衛對以色列全會眾說：「你們若以為美，見這事是出於耶和華─我們的 神，我們就差遣人走遍以色列地，見我們未來的弟兄，又見住在有郊野之城的祭司利未人，使他們都到這裡來聚集。And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
3我們要把 神的運到我們這裡來；因為在掃羅年間，我們沒有在約櫃前求問 神。」Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him in the days of Saul.”
4全會眾都說可以如此行；這事在眾民眼中都看為好。And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.
5於是，大衛將以色列人從埃及的西曷河直到哈馬口都招聚了來，要從基列耶琳將 神的約櫃運來。So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
6大衛率領以色列眾人上到巴拉，就是屬猶大的基列‧耶琳，要從那裡將約櫃運來。這約櫃就是坐在二上耶和華 神留名的約櫃。David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name.
7他們將 神的約櫃從亞比拿達的家裡抬出來，放在新車上。烏撒和亞希約趕車。So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.
8大衛和以色列眾人在 神前用琴、瑟、鑼、鼓、號作樂，極力跳舞歌唱。David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
9到了基頓（在撒母耳下六章六節是拿艮）的禾場；因為（或譯：驚跳），烏撒就伸手扶住約櫃。When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.
10耶和華向他發怒，因他伸手扶住約櫃擊殺他，他就死在 神面前。And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
11大衛因耶和華擊殺（原文是闖殺）烏撒，心裡愁煩，就稱那地方為，直到今日。Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah, as it is called to this day.
12那日，大衛懼怕 神，說：「 神的約櫃怎可運到我這裡來？」That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
13於是大衛不將約櫃運進大衛的城，卻運到迦特人的家中。So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
14神的約櫃在俄別‧以東家中三個月，耶和華賜福給俄別‧以東的家和他一切所有的。Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
