1大衛在大衛城為自己建造宮殿，又為 神的約櫃預備地方，支搭帳幕。David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, and he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it.
2那時大衛說：「除了利未人之外，無人可抬 神的約櫃；因為耶和華揀選他們抬 神的約櫃，且永遠事奉他。」Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the LORD has chosen them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister before Him forever.”
3大衛招聚以色列眾人到耶路撒冷，要將耶和華的約櫃抬到他所預備的地方。And David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the LORD to the place he had prepared for it.
4大衛又聚集亞倫的子孫和利未人。Then he gathered together the descendants of Aaron and the Levites:
5哥轄子孫中有族長烏列和他的弟兄一百二十人。From the Kohathites, Uriel the chief and 120 of his relatives;
6米拉利子孫中有族長亞帥雅和他的弟兄二百二十人。from the Merarites, Asaiah the chief and 220 of his relatives;
7革順子孫中有族長約珥和他的弟兄一百三十人。from the Gershomites, Joel the chief and 130 of his relatives;
8以利撒反子孫中有族長示瑪雅和他的弟兄二百人。from the Elizaphanites, Shemaiah the chief and 200 of his relatives;
9希伯崙子孫中有族長以列和他的弟兄八十人。from the Hebronites, Eliel the chief and 80 of his relatives;
10烏薛子孫中有族長亞米拿達和他的弟兄一百一十二人。and from the Uzzielites, Amminadab the chief and 112 of his relatives.
11大衛將祭司撒督和亞比亞他，並利未人烏列、亞帥雅、約珥、示瑪雅、以列、亞米拿達召來，David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
12對他們說：「你們是利未人的族長，你們和你們的弟兄應當自潔，好將耶和華─以色列 神的約櫃抬到我所預備的地方。And he said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families. You and your relatives must consecrate yourselves so that you may bring the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.
13因你們先前沒有抬這約櫃，按求問耶和華─我們的 神，所以他刑罰（原文是闖殺）我們。」It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God burst forth in anger against us. For we did not consult Him about the proper order.”
14於是祭司利未人自潔，好將耶和華─以色列 神的約櫃抬上來。So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.
15利未子孫就用槓， 神的約櫃，是照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的。And the Levites carried the ark of God on their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
16大衛吩咐利未人的族長，派他們歌唱的弟兄用琴瑟和鈸作樂，歡歡喜喜地大聲歌頌。David also told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their relatives as singers to lift up their voices with joy, accompanied by musical instruments—harps, lyres, and cymbals.
17於是利未人派約珥的兒子希幔和他弟兄中比利家的兒子亞薩，並他們族弟兄米拉利子孫裡古沙雅的兒子以探。So the Levites appointed Heman son of Joel; from his brothers, Asaph son of Berechiah; from their brothers the Merarites, Ethan son of Kushaiah;
18其次還有他們的弟兄撒迦利雅、便‧雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、比拿雅、瑪西雅、瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅，並守門的俄別‧以東和耶利。and with them their brothers next in rank: Zechariah, Jaaziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Jeiel.
19這樣，派歌唱的希幔、亞薩、以探敲銅鈸，大發響聲；The musicians Heman, Asaph, and Ethan were to sound the bronze cymbals.
20派撒迦利雅、雅薛、示米拉末、耶歇、烏尼、以利押、瑪西雅、比拿雅鼓瑟，；Zechariah, Aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah, and Benaiah were to play the harps according to Alamoth.
21又派瑪他提雅、以利斐利戶、彌克尼雅、俄別‧以東、耶利、亞撒西雅領首彈琴，調用第八。And Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Jeiel, and Azaziah were to lead the music with lyres according to Sheminith.
22利未人的族長基拿尼雅是歌唱人的首領，又教訓人歌唱，因為他精通此事。Chenaniah the head Levite was the director of the music because he was highly skilled.
23比利家、以利加拿是約櫃前守門的。Berechiah and Elkanah were to be guardians of the ark.
24祭司示巴尼、約沙法、拿坦業、亞瑪賽、撒迦利雅、比拿亞、以利以謝在 神的約櫃前吹號。俄別‧以東和耶希亞也是約櫃前守門的。Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer—the priests—were to blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah were also to be guardians of the ark.
25於是，大衛和以色列的長老，並千夫長都去從俄別‧以東的家歡歡喜喜地將耶和華的約櫃抬上來。So David, the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands went with rejoicing to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom.
26神賜恩與抬耶和華約櫃的利未人，他們就獻上七隻公牛，七隻公羊。And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.
27大衛和抬約櫃的利未人，並歌唱人的首領基拿尼雅，以及歌唱的人，都穿著細麻布的外袍；大衛另外穿著細麻布的。Now David was dressed in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, as well as the singers and Chenaniah, the director of music for the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.
28這樣，以色列眾人歡呼吹角、吹號、敲鈸、鼓瑟、彈琴，大發響聲，將耶和華的約櫃抬上來。So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and with cymbals and the music of harps and lyres.
29耶和華的約櫃進了大衛城的時候，掃羅的女兒從窗戶裡觀看，見大衛王跳舞，心裡就輕視他。As the ark of the covenant of the LORD was entering the City of David, Saul’s daughter Michal looked down from a window and saw King David dancing and celebrating, and she despised him in her heart.
