安逸無慮的有禍了

¹國為列國之首，人最著名，且為以色列家所歸向，在錫安和撒馬利亞山安逸無慮的，有禍了！Woe to those at ease in Zion and those secure on Mount Samaria, the distinguished ones of the foremost nation, to whom the house of Israel comes.

²你們要過到甲尼察看，從那裡往大城哈馬去，又下到非利士人的迦特。看那些國比你們的國還強嗎？境界比你們的境界還寬嗎？Cross over to Calneh and see; go from there to the great Hamath; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Is their territory larger than yours?

³你們以為降禍的日子還遠，坐在位上盡行強暴（或譯：行強暴使審判臨近）。You dismiss the day of calamity and bring near a reign of violence.

躺臥在象牙床上

⁴你們躺臥在象牙床上，舒身在榻上，吃群中的羊羔，棚裡的牛犢；You lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and lounge upon your couches. You dine on lambs from the flock and calves from the stall.

⁵彈琴鼓瑟，唱消閑的歌曲，為自己製造樂器，如同大衛所造的；You improvise songs on the harp like David and invent your own musical instruments.

⁶以大碗喝酒，用上等的油抹身，卻不為約瑟的苦難擔憂。You drink wine by the bowlful and anoint yourselves with the finest oils, but you fail to grieve over the ruin of Joseph.

⁷所以這些人必在被擄的人中首先被擄，舒身的人荒宴之樂必消滅了。Therefore, you will now go into exile as the first of the captives, and your feasting and lounging will come to an end.

神憎惡雅各的榮華

⁸主耶和華萬軍之　神指著自己起誓說，我憎惡雅各的榮華，厭棄他的宮殿；因此我必將城和其中所有的都交付敵人。The Lord GOD has sworn by Himself—the LORD, the God of Hosts, has declared: “I abhor Jacob’s pride and detest his citadels, so I will deliver up the city and everything in it.”

⁹那時，若在一房之內剩下十個人，也都必死。And if there are ten men left in one house, they too will die.

¹⁰死人的伯叔，就是燒他屍首的，要將這屍首搬到房外，問房屋內間的人說：「你那裡還有人沒有？」他必說：「沒有」；又說：「不要作聲，因為我們不可提耶和華的名。」And when the relative who is to burn the bodies picks them up to remove them from the house, he will call to one inside, “Is anyone else with you?” “None,” that person will answer. “Silence,” the relative will retort, “for the name of the LORD must not be invoked.”

¹¹看哪，耶和華出令，大房就被攻破，小屋就被打裂。For the LORD gives a command: “The great house will be smashed to pieces, and the small house to rubble.”

使公平變為苦膽

¹²馬豈能在崖石上奔跑？人豈能在那裡用牛耕種呢？你們卻使公平變為苦膽，使公義的果子變為茵蔯。“Do horses gallop on the cliffs? Does one plow the sea with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood—

¹³你們喜愛虛浮的事，自誇說，我們不是憑自己的力量取了角嗎？you who rejoice in Lo-debar and say, ‘Did we not take Karnaim by our own strength?’

¹⁴耶和華萬軍之　神說：以色列家啊，我必興起一國攻擊你們；他們必欺壓你們，從哈馬口直到亞拉巴的河。For behold, I will raise up a nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD, the God of Hosts, “and they will oppress you from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of the Arabah.”

蝗蟲和火的異象

¹主耶和華指示我一件事：為王割菜（或譯：草）之後，菜又發生；剛發生的時候，主造蝗蟲。This is what the Lord GOD showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts just after the king’s harvest, as the late spring crop was coming up.

²蝗蟲吃盡那地的青物，我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你赦免；因為雅各微弱，他怎能站立得住呢？」And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please forgive! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

³耶和華就後悔，說：「這災可以免了。」So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen,” He said.

⁴主耶和華又指示我一件事：他命火來懲罰以色列，火就吞滅深淵，險些將地燒滅。This is what the Lord GOD showed me: The Lord GOD was calling for judgment by fire. It consumed the great deep and devoured the land.

⁵我就說：「主耶和華啊，求你止息；因為雅各微弱，他怎能站立得住呢？」Then I said, “Lord GOD, please stop! How will Jacob survive, since he is so small?”

⁶耶和華就後悔，說：「這災也可免了。」So the LORD relented from this plan. “It will not happen either,” said the Lord GOD.

準繩的異象

⁷他又指示我一件事：有一道牆是按準繩建築的，主手拿準繩站在其上。This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand.

亞瑪謝驅趕阿摩司

¹⁰伯特利的祭司亞瑪謝打發人到以色列王耶羅波安那裡，說：「阿摩司在以色列家中圖謀背叛你；他所說的一切話，這國擔當不起；Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words,

¹¹因為阿摩司如此說：『耶羅波安必被刀殺，以色列民定被擄去離開本地。』」for this is what Amos has said: ‘Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”

我原不是先知

¹⁴阿摩司對亞瑪謝說：「我原不是先知，也不是先知的門徒（原文是兒子）。我是牧人，又是修理桑樹的。“I was not a prophet,” Amos replied, “nor was I the son of a prophet; rather, I was a herdsman and a tender of sycamore-fig trees.

¹⁵耶和華選召我，使我不跟從羊群，對我說：『你去向我民以色列說預言。』But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me, ‘Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’

¹⁶亞瑪謝啊，現在你要聽耶和華的話。你說：『不要向以色列說預言，也不要向以撒家滴下預言。』Now, therefore, hear the word of the LORD. You say: ‘Do not prophesy against Israel; do not preach against the house of Isaac.’

¹⁷所以耶和華如此說：『你的妻子必在城中作妓女，你的兒女必倒在刀下；你的地必有人用繩子量了分取，你自己必死在污穢之地。以色列民定被擄去離開本地。』」Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘Your wife will become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and daughters will fall by the sword. Your land will be divided by a measuring line, and you yourself will die on pagan soil. And Israel will surely go into exile, away from their homeland.’”

一筐夏天的果子

¹主耶和華又指示我一件事：我看見一筐夏天的果子。This is what the Lord GOD showed me: I saw a basket of summer fruit.

²他說：「阿摩司啊，你看見甚麼？」我說：「看見一筐夏天的果子。」耶和華說：「我民以色列的結局到了，我必不再寬恕他們。」“Amos, what do you see?” He asked. “A basket of summer fruit,” I replied. So the LORD said to me, “The end has come for My people Israel; I will no longer spare them.”

³主耶和華說：「那日，殿中的詩歌變為哀號；必有許多屍首在各處拋棄，無人作聲。」“In that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “the songs of the temple will turn to wailing. Many will be the corpses, strewn in silence everywhere!”

吞吃窮乏人的商人

⁴你們這些要吞吃窮乏人、使困苦人衰敗的，當聽我的話！Hear this, you who trample the needy, who do away with the poor of the land,

⁵你們說：月朔幾時過去，我們好賣糧；安息日幾時過去，我們好擺開麥子；賣出用小升斗，收銀用大戥子，用詭詐的天平欺哄人，asking, “When will the New Moon be over, that we may sell grain? When will the Sabbath end, that we may market wheat? Let us reduce the ephah and increase the shekel; let us cheat with dishonest scales.

⁶好用銀子買貧寒人，用一雙鞋換窮乏人，將壞了的麥子賣給人。Let us buy the poor with silver and the needy for a pair of sandals, selling even the chaff with the wheat!”

⁷耶和華指著雅各的榮耀起誓說：他們的一切行為，我必永遠不忘。The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: “I will never forget any of their deeds.

⁸地豈不因這事震動？其上的居民不也悲哀嗎？地必全然像尼羅河漲起，如同埃及河湧上落下。Will not the land quake for this, and all its dwellers mourn? All of it will swell like the Nile; it will surge and then subside like the Nile in Egypt.

⁹主耶和華說：到那日，我必使日頭在午間落下，使地在白晝黑暗。And in that day, declares the Lord GOD, I will make the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the daytime.

¹⁰我必使你們的節期變為悲哀，歌曲變為哀歌。眾人腰束麻布，頭上光禿，使這場悲哀如喪獨生子，至終如痛苦的日子一樣。I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation. I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth and every head to be shaved. I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, and its outcome like a bitter day.

聽不到神話語的饑荒

¹¹主耶和華說：日子將到，我必命饑荒降在地上。人飢餓非因無餅，乾渴非因無水，乃因不聽耶和華的話。Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord GOD, when I will send a famine on the land—not a famine of bread or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.

¹²他們必飄流，從這海到那海，從北邊到東邊，往來奔跑，尋求耶和華的話，卻尋不著。People will stagger from sea to sea and roam from north to east, seeking the word of the LORD, but they will not find it.

¹³當那日，美貌的處女和少年的男子必因乾渴發昏。In that day the lovely young women—the young men as well—will faint from thirst.

¹⁴那指著撒馬利亞牛犢（原文是罪）起誓的說：但哪，我們指著你那裡的活神起誓；又說：我們指著別是巴的神道（神：原文是活）起誓。這些人都必仆倒，永不再起來。Those who swear by the guilt of Samaria and say, ‘As surely as your god lives, O Dan,’ or, ‘As surely as the way of Beersheba lives’—they will fall, never to rise again.”

主站在祭壇旁

¹我看見主站在祭壇旁邊；他說：你要擊打柱頂，使門檻震動，打碎柱頂，落在眾人頭上；所剩下的人，我必用刀殺戮，無一人能逃避，無一人能逃脫。I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds shake. Topple them on the heads of all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.

²他們雖然挖透陰間，我的手必取出他們來；雖然爬上天去，我必拿下他們來；Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will pull them down.

³雖然藏在迦密山頂，我必搜尋，捉出他們來；雖然從我眼前藏在海底，我必命蛇咬他們；Though they hide themselves atop Carmel, there I will track them and seize them; and though they hide from Me at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.

⁴雖被仇敵擄去，我必命刀劍殺戮他們；我必向他們定住眼目，降禍不降福。Though they are driven by their enemies into captivity, there I will command the sword to slay them. I will fix My eyes upon them for harm and not for good.”

⁵主─萬軍之耶和華摸地，地就消化，凡住在地上的都必悲哀。地必全然像尼羅河漲起，如同埃及河落下。The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers mourn—all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—

⁶那在天上建造樓閣、在地上安定穹蒼、命海水澆在地上的─耶和華是他的名。He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name.

蒙揀選也不能免罰

⁷耶和華說：以色列人哪，我豈不看你們如古實人嗎？我豈不是領以色列人出埃及地，領非利士人出迦斐託，領亞蘭人出吉珥嗎？“Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O children of Israel?” declares the LORD. “Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir?

⁸主耶和華的眼目察看這有罪的國，必將這國從地上滅絕，卻不將雅各家滅絕淨盡。這是耶和華說的。Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the LORD.

⁹我必出令，將以色列家分散在列國中，好像用篩子篩穀，連一粒也不落在地上。“For surely I will give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve; but not a pebble will reach the ground.

¹⁰我民中的一切罪人說：災禍必追不上我們，也迎不著我們。他們必死在刀下。All the sinners among My people will die by the sword—all those who say, ‘Disaster will never draw near or confront us.’”

重建大衛倒塌的帳幕

¹¹到那日，我必建立大衛倒塌的帳幕，堵住其中的破口，把那破壞的建立起來，重新修造，像古時一樣，“In that day I will restore the fallen tent of David. I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,

¹²使以色列人得以東所餘剩的和所有稱為我名下的國。此乃行這事的耶和華說的。that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear My name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.

第五號：無底坑打開

¹第五位天使吹號，我就看見一個星從天落到地上，有無底坑的鑰匙賜給它。Then the fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth, and it was given the key to the pit of the Abyss.

²它開了無底坑，便有煙從坑裡往上冒，好像大火爐的煙；日頭和天空都因這煙昏暗了。The star opened the pit of the Abyss, and smoke rose out of it like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.

像蠍子的蝗蟲

³有蝗蟲從煙中出來，飛到地上；有能力賜給牠們，好像地上蠍子的能力一樣，And out of the smoke, locusts descended on the earth, and they were given power like that of the scorpions of the earth.

⁴並且吩咐牠們說，不可傷害地上的草和各樣青物，並一切樹木，惟獨要傷害額上沒有　神印記的人。They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

⁵但不許蝗蟲害死他們，只叫他們受痛苦五個月。這痛苦就像蠍子螫人的痛苦一樣。The locusts were not given power to kill them, but only to torment them for five months, and their torment was like the stinging of a scorpion.

⁶在那些日子，人要求死，決不得死；願意死，死卻遠避他們。In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will escape them.

蝗蟲的形狀

⁷蝗蟲的形狀，好像預備出戰的馬一樣，頭上戴的好像金冠冕，臉面好像男人的臉面，And the locusts looked like horses prepared for battle, with something like crowns of gold on their heads; and their faces were like the faces of men.

⁸頭髮像女人的頭髮，牙齒像獅子的牙齒。They had hair like that of women, and teeth like those of lions.

⁹胸前有甲，好像鐵甲。牠們翅膀的聲音，好像許多車馬奔跑上陣的聲音。They also had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the roar of many horses and chariots rushing into battle.

¹⁰有尾巴像蠍子，尾巴上的毒鉤能傷人五個月。They had tails with stingers like scorpions, which had the power to injure people for five months.

無底坑的使者

¹¹有無底坑的使者作牠們的王，按著希伯來話，名叫亞巴頓，希臘話，名叫亞玻倫。They were ruled by a king, the angel of the Abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek it is Apollyon.

¹²第一樣災禍過去了，還有兩樣災禍要來。The first woe has passed. Behold, two woes are still to follow.

第六號：釋放四個使者

¹³第六位天使吹號，我就聽見有聲音從　神面前金壇的四角出來，Then the sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God

¹⁴吩咐那吹號的第六位天使，說：「把那捆綁在幼發拉底大河的四個使者釋放了。」saying to the sixth angel with the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”

¹⁵那四個使者就被釋放；他們原是預備好了，到某年某月某日某時，要殺人的三分之一。So the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

二萬萬馬軍

¹⁶馬軍有二萬萬；他們的數目我聽見了。And the number of mounted troops was two hundred million; I heard their number.

¹⁷我在異象中看見那些馬和騎馬的，騎馬的胸前有甲如火，與紫瑪瑙並硫磺。馬的頭好像獅子頭，有火、有煙、有硫磺從馬的口中出來。Now the horses and riders in my vision looked like this: The riders had breastplates the colors of fire, sapphire, and sulfur. The heads of the horses were like the heads of lions, and out of their mouths proceeded fire, smoke, and sulfur.

¹⁸口中所出來的火與煙並硫磺，這三樣災殺了人的三分之一。A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke, and sulfur that proceeded from their mouths.

¹⁹這馬的能力是在口裡和尾巴上；因這尾巴像蛇，並且有頭用以害人。For the power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; indeed, their tails were like snakes, having heads with which to inflict harm.

其餘的人仍不悔改

²⁰其餘未曾被這些災所殺的人仍舊不悔改自己手所做的，還是去拜鬼魔和那些不能看、不能聽、不能走，金、銀、銅、木、石的偶像，Now the rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands. They did not stop worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk.

²¹又不悔改他們那些凶殺、邪術、姦淫、偷竊的事。Furthermore, they did not repent of their murder, sorcery, sexual immorality, and theft.
