迦南諸王聯合

¹約旦河西，住山地、高原，並對著黎巴嫩山沿大海一帶的諸王，就是赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的諸王，聽見這事，Now when news of this reached all the kings west of the Jordan—those in the hill country, the foothills, and all along the coast of the Great Sea toward Lebanon (the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites)—

²就都聚集，同心合意地要與約書亞和以色列人爭戰。they came together to wage war against Joshua and Israel.

基遍人的詭計

³基遍的居民聽見約書亞向耶利哥和艾城所行的事，But the people of Gibeon, having heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai,

⁴就設詭計，假充使者，拿舊口袋和破裂縫補的舊皮酒袋馱在驢上，acted deceptively and set out as envoys, carrying on their donkeys worn-out sacks and old wineskins, cracked and mended.

⁵將補過的舊鞋穿在腳上，把舊衣服穿在身上；他們所帶的餅都是乾的，長了霉了。They put worn, patched sandals on their feet and threadbare clothing on their bodies, and their whole supply of bread was dry and moldy.

⁶他們到吉甲營中見約書亞，對他和以色列人說：「我們是從遠方來的，現在求你與我們立約。」They went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and the men of Israel, “We have come from a distant land; please make a treaty with us.”

⁷以色列人對這些希未人說：「只怕你們是住在我們中間的；若是這樣，怎能和你們立約呢？」But the men of Israel said to the Hivites, “Perhaps you dwell near us. How can we make a treaty with you?”

⁸他們對約書亞說：「我們是你的僕人。」約書亞問他們說：「你們是甚麼人？是從哪裡來的？」“We are your servants,” they said to Joshua. Then Joshua asked them, “Who are you and where have you come from?”

⁹他們回答說：「僕人從極遠之地而來，是因聽見耶和華─你　神的名聲和他在埃及所行的一切事，“Your servants have come from a very distant land,” they replied, “because of the fame of the LORD your God. For we have heard the reports about Him: all that He did in Egypt,

¹⁰並他向約旦河東的兩個亞摩利王，就是希實本王西宏和在亞斯他錄的巴珊王噩一切所行的事。and all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan—Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth.

¹¹我們的長老和我們那地的一切居民對我們說：『你們手裡要帶著路上用的食物去迎接以色列人，對他們說：我們是你們的僕人；現在求你們與我們立約。』So the elders and inhabitants of our land told us, ‘Take provisions for your journey; go to meet them and say to them: We are your servants. Please make a treaty with us.’

¹²我們出來要往你們這裡來的日子，從家裡帶出來的這餅還是熱的；看哪，現在都乾了，長了霉了。This bread of ours was warm when we packed it at home on the day we left to come to you. But look, it is now dry and moldy.

¹³這皮酒袋，我們盛酒的時候還是新的；看哪，現在已經破裂。我們這衣服和鞋，因為道路甚遠，也都穿舊了。」These wineskins were new when we filled them, but look, they are cracked. And these clothes and sandals are worn out from our very long journey.”

沒有求問耶和華

¹⁴以色列人受了他們些食物，並沒有求問耶和華。Then the men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not seek the counsel of the LORD.

¹⁵於是約書亞與他們講和，與他們立約，容他們活著；會眾的首領也向他們起誓。And Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the congregation swore an oath to them.

三天後真相大白

¹⁶以色列人與他們立約之後，過了三天才聽見他們是近鄰，住在以色列人中間的。Three days after they had made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites learned that they were neighbors, living among them.

¹⁷以色列人起行，第三天到了他們的城邑，就是基遍、基非拉、比錄、基列‧耶琳。So the Israelites set out and on the third day arrived at their cities—Gibeon, Chephirah, Beeroth, and Kiriath-jearim.

¹⁸因為會眾的首領已經指著耶和華─以色列的　神向他們起誓，所以以色列人不擊殺他們；全會眾就向首領發怨言。But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the congregation had sworn an oath to them by the LORD, the God of Israel. And the whole congregation grumbled against the leaders.

¹⁹眾首領對全會眾說：「我們已經指著耶和華─以色列的　神向他們起誓，現在我們不能害他們。All the leaders answered, “We have sworn an oath to them by the LORD, the God of Israel, and now we cannot touch them.

²⁰我們要如此待他們，容他們活著，免得有忿怒因我們所起的誓臨到我們身上。」This is how we will treat them: We will let them live, so that no wrath will fall on us because of the oath we swore to them.”

²¹首領又對會眾說：「要容他們活著。」於是他們為全會眾作了劈柴挑水的人，正如首領對他們所說的話。They continued, “Let them live, but let them be woodcutters and water carriers for the whole congregation.” So the leaders kept their promise.

基遍人作劈柴挑水的人

²²約書亞召了他們來，對他們說：「為甚麼欺哄我們說『我們離你們甚遠』呢？其實你們是住在我們中間。Then Joshua summoned the Gibeonites and said, “Why did you deceive us by telling us you live far away from us, when in fact you live among us?

²³現在你們是被咒詛的！你們中間的人必斷不了作奴僕，為我　神的殿作劈柴挑水的人。」Now therefore you are under a curse and will perpetually serve as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

²⁴他們回答約書亞說：「因為有人實在告訴你的僕人，耶和華─你的　神曾吩咐他的僕人摩西，把這全地賜給你們，並在你們面前滅絕這地的一切居民，所以我們為你們的緣故甚怕喪命，就行了這事。The Gibeonites answered, “Your servants were told clearly that the LORD your God had commanded His servant Moses to give you all the land and wipe out all its inhabitants before you. So we greatly feared for our lives because of you, and that is why we have done this.

²⁵現在我們在你手中，你以怎樣待我們為善為正，就怎樣做吧！」Now we are in your hands. Do to us whatever seems good and right to you.”

²⁶於是約書亞這樣待他們，救他們脫離以色列人的手，以色列人就沒有殺他們。So Joshua did this and delivered them from the hands of the Israelites, and they did not kill the Gibeonites.

²⁷當日約書亞使他們在耶和華所要選擇的地方，為會眾和耶和華的壇作劈柴挑水的人，直到今日。On that day he made them woodcutters and water carriers, as they are to this day for the congregation of the LORD and for the altar at the place He would choose.

五王圍攻基遍

¹耶路撒冷王亞多尼‧洗德聽見約書亞奪了艾城，盡行毀滅，怎樣待耶利哥和耶利哥的王，也照樣待艾城和艾城的王，又聽見基遍的居民與以色列人立了和約，住在他們中間，Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured Ai and devoted it to destruction—doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king—and that the people of Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living near them.

²就甚懼怕；因為基遍是一座大城，如都城一般，比艾城更大，並且城內的人都是勇士。So Adoni-zedek and his people were greatly alarmed, because Gibeon was a great city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were mighty.

³所以耶路撒冷王亞多尼‧洗德打發人去見希伯崙王何咸、耶末王毘蘭、拉吉王雅非亞，和伊磯倫王底璧，說：Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem sent word to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, and Debir king of Eglon, saying,

⁴「求你們上來幫助我，我們好攻打基遍，因為他們與約書亞和以色列人立了和約。」“Come up and help me. We will attack Gibeon, because they have made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”

⁵於是五個亞摩利王，就是耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、伊磯倫王，大家聚集，率領他們的眾軍上去，對著基遍安營，攻打基遍。So the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon—joined forces and advanced with all their armies. They camped before Gibeon and made war against it.

約書亞連夜救援

⁶基遍人就打發人往吉甲的營中去見約書亞，說：「你不要袖手不顧你的僕人，求你速速上來拯救我們，幫助我們，因為住山地亞摩利人的諸王都聚集攻擊我們。」Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, because all the kings of the Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”

⁷於是約書亞和他一切兵丁，並大能的勇士，都從吉甲上去。So Joshua and his whole army, including all the mighty men of valor, came from Gilgal.

⁸耶和華對約書亞說：「不要怕他們；因為我已將他們交在你手裡，他們無一人能在你面前站立得住。」The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have delivered them into your hand. Not one of them shall stand against you.”

⁹約書亞就終夜從吉甲上去，猛然臨到他們那裡。After marching all night from Gilgal, Joshua caught them by surprise.

¹⁰耶和華使他們在以色列人面前潰亂。約書亞在基遍大大地殺敗他們，追趕他們，在伯‧和崙的上坡路擊殺他們，直到亞西加和瑪基大。And the LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, who defeated them in a great slaughter at Gibeon, pursued them along the ascent to Beth-horon, and struck them down as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

¹¹他們在以色列人面前逃跑，正在伯‧和崙下坡的時候，耶和華從天上降大冰雹（原文是石頭）在他們身上，直降到亞西加，打死他們。被冰雹打死的，比以色列人用刀殺死的還多。As they fled before Israel along the descent from Beth-horon to Azekah, the LORD cast down on them large hailstones from the sky, and more of them were killed by the hailstones than by the swords of the Israelites.

日頭停在基遍

¹²當耶和華將亞摩利人交付以色列人的日子，約書亞就禱告耶和華，在以色列人眼前說：日頭啊，你要停在基遍；月亮啊，你要止在亞雅崙谷。On the day that the LORD gave the Amorites over to the Israelites, Joshua spoke to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”

¹³於是日頭停留，月亮止住，直等國民向敵人報仇。這事豈不是寫在雅煞珥書上嗎？日頭在天當中停住，不急速下落，約有一日之久。So the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance upon its enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? “So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.”

¹⁴在這日以前，這日以後，耶和華聽人的禱告，沒有像這日的，是因耶和華為以色列爭戰。There has been no day like it before or since, when the LORD listened to the voice of a man, because the LORD fought for Israel.

¹⁵約書亞和以色列眾人回到吉甲的營中。Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

五王藏在瑪基大洞

¹⁶那五王逃跑，藏在瑪基大洞裡。Now the five kings had fled and hidden in the cave at Makkedah.

¹⁷有人告訴約書亞說：「那五王已經找到了，都藏在瑪基大洞裡。」And Joshua was informed: “The five kings have been found; they are hiding in the cave at Makkedah.”

¹⁸約書亞說：「你們把幾塊大石頭滾到洞口，派人看守，So Joshua said, “Roll large stones against the mouth of the cave, and post men there to guard them.

¹⁹你們卻不可耽延，要追趕你們的仇敵，擊殺他們儘後邊的人，不容他們進自己的城邑，因為耶和華－你們的　神已經把他們交在你們手裡。」But you, do not stop there. Pursue your enemies and attack them from behind. Do not let them reach their cities, for the LORD your God has delivered them into your hand.”

²⁰約書亞和以色列人大大殺敗他們，直到將他們滅盡；其中剩下的人都進了堅固的城。So Joshua and the Israelites continued to inflict a terrible slaughter until they had finished them off, and the remaining survivors retreated to the fortified cities.

²¹眾百姓就安然回瑪基大營中，到約書亞那裡。沒有一人敢向以色列人饒舌。The whole army returned safely to Joshua in the camp at Makkedah, and no one dared to utter a word against the Israelites.

處死五王

²²約書亞說：「打開洞口，將那五王從洞裡帶出來，領到我面前。」Then Joshua said, “Open the mouth of the cave and bring those five kings out to me.”

²³眾人就這樣行，將那五王，就是耶路撒冷王、希伯崙王、耶末王、拉吉王、伊磯倫王，從洞裡帶出來，領到約書亞面前。So they brought the five kings out of the cave—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish, and Eglon.

²⁴帶出那五王到約書亞面前的時候，約書亞就召了以色列眾人來，對那些和他同去的軍長說：「你們近前來，把腳踏在這些王的頸項上。」他們就近前來，把腳踏在這些王的頸項上。When they had brought the kings to Joshua, he summoned all the men of Israel and said to the army commanders who had accompanied him, “Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So the commanders came forward and put their feet on their necks.

²⁵約書亞對他們說：「你們不要懼怕，也不要驚惶。應當剛強壯膽，因為耶和華必這樣待你們所要攻打的一切仇敵。」“Do not be afraid or discouraged,” Joshua said. “Be strong and courageous, for the LORD will do this to all the enemies you fight.”

²⁶隨後約書亞將這五王殺死，掛在五棵樹上。他們就在樹上直掛到晚上。After this, Joshua struck down and killed the kings, and he hung their bodies on five trees and left them there until evening.

²⁷日頭要落的時候，約書亞一吩咐，人就把屍首從樹上取下來，丟在他們藏過的洞裡，把幾塊大石頭放在洞口，直存到今日。At sunset Joshua ordered that they be taken down from the trees and thrown into the cave in which they had hidden. Then large stones were placed against the mouth of the cave, and the stones are there to this day.

被鬼附著的人

²⁶他們到了格拉森（有古卷：加大拉）人的地方，就是加利利的對面。Then they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, across the lake from Galilee.

²⁷耶穌上了岸，就有城裡一個被鬼附著的人迎面而來。這個人許久不穿衣服，不住房子，只住在墳塋裡。When Jesus stepped ashore, He was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothing or lived in a house, but he stayed in the tombs.

²⁸他見了耶穌，就俯伏在他面前，大聲喊叫，說：「至高　神的兒子耶穌，我與你有甚麼相干？求你不要叫我受苦！」When the man saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, shouting in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You not to torture me!”

²⁹是因耶穌曾吩咐污鬼從那人身上出來。原來這鬼屢次抓住他；他常被人看守，又被鐵鍊和腳鐐捆鎖，他竟把鎖鍊掙斷，被鬼趕到曠野去。For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and been driven by the demon into solitary places.

我名叫群

³⁰耶穌問他說：「你名叫甚麼？」他說：「我名叫『群』」；這是因為附著他的鬼多。“What is your name?” Jesus asked. “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him.

³¹鬼就央求耶穌，不要吩咐他們到無底坑裡去。And the demons kept begging Jesus not to order them to go into the Abyss.

鬼進入豬群

³²那裡有一大群豬在山上吃食。鬼央求耶穌，准他們進入豬裡去。耶穌准了他們，There on the hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding. So the demons begged Jesus to let them enter the pigs, and He gave them permission.

³³鬼就從那人出來，進入豬裡去。於是那群豬闖下山崖，投在湖裡淹死了。Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.

城裡的人求耶穌離開

³⁴放豬的看見這事就逃跑了，去告訴城裡和鄉下的人。When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside.

³⁵眾人出來要看是甚麼事；到了耶穌那裡，看見鬼所離開的那人，坐在耶穌腳前，穿著衣服，心裡明白過來，他們就害怕。So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons had left, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

³⁶看見這事的便將被鬼附著的人怎麼得救告訴他們。Meanwhile, those who had seen it reported how the demon-possessed man had been healed.

³⁷格拉森四圍的人，因為害怕得很，都求耶穌離開他們；耶穌就上船回去了。Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, because great fear had taken hold of them. So He got into the boat and started back.

回家傳揚神的作為

³⁸鬼所離開的那人懇求和耶穌同在；耶穌卻打發他回去，說：The man whom the demons had left begged to go with Jesus. But He sent him away, saying,

³⁹「你回家去，傳說　神為你做了何等大的事。」他就去，滿城裡傳揚耶穌為他做了何等大的事。“Return home and describe how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and proclaimed all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.

睚魯求耶穌救女兒

⁴⁰耶穌回來的時候，眾人迎接他，因為他們都等候他。When Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him.

⁴¹有一個管會堂的，名叫睚魯，來俯伏在耶穌腳前，求耶穌到他家裡去；Just then a synagogue leader named Jairus came and fell at Jesus’ feet. He begged Him to come to his house,

⁴²因他有一個獨生女兒，約有十二歲，快要死了。耶穌去的時候，眾人擁擠他。because his only daughter, who was about twelve, was dying. As Jesus went with him, the crowds pressed around Him,

血漏的女人摸耶穌的衣裳

⁴³有一個女人，患了十二年的血漏，在醫生手裡花盡了他一切養生的，並沒有一人能醫好他。including a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on physicians, but no one was able to heal her.

⁴⁴她來到耶穌背後，摸他的衣裳繸子，血漏立刻就止住了。She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

⁴⁵耶穌說：「摸我的是誰？」眾人都不承認。彼得和同行的人都說：「夫子，眾人擁擁擠擠緊靠著你。（有古卷加：你還問摸我的是誰嗎？）」“Who touched Me?” Jesus asked. But they all denied it. “Master,” said Peter, “the people are crowding and pressing against You.”

⁴⁶耶穌說：「總有人摸我，因我覺得有能力從我身上出去。」But Jesus declared, “Someone touched Me, for I know that power has gone out from Me.”

⁴⁷那女人知道不能隱藏，就戰戰兢兢地來俯伏在耶穌腳前，把摸他的緣故和怎樣立刻得好了，當著眾人都說出來。Then the woman, seeing that she could not escape notice, came trembling and fell down before Him. In the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched Him and how she had immediately been healed.

⁴⁸耶穌對她說：「女兒，你的信救了你；平平安安地去吧！」“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

不要怕，只要信

⁴⁹還說話的時候，有人從管會堂的家裡來，說：「你的女兒死了，不要勞動夫子。」While He was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore.”

⁵⁰耶穌聽見就對他說：「不要怕，只要信！你的女兒就必得救。」But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

女兒，起來吧

⁵¹耶穌到了他的家，除了彼得、約翰、雅各，和女兒的父母，不許別人同他進去。When He entered the house, He did not allow anyone to go in with Him except Peter, John, James, and the child’s father and mother.

⁵²眾人都為這女兒哀哭捶胸。耶穌說：「不要哭！她不是死了，是睡著了。」Meanwhile, everyone was weeping and mourning for her. But Jesus said, “Stop weeping; she is not dead but asleep.”

⁵³他們曉得女兒已經死了，就嗤笑耶穌。And they laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead.

⁵⁴耶穌拉著她的手，呼叫說：「女兒，起來吧！」But Jesus took her by the hand and called out, “Child, get up!”

⁵⁵她的靈魂便回來，她就立刻起來了。耶穌吩咐給她東西吃。Her spirit returned, and at once she got up. And He directed that she be given something to eat.

⁵⁶她的父母驚奇得很；耶穌囑咐他們，不要把所做的事告訴人。Her parents were astounded, but Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.
