蛇的引誘

¹耶和華　神所造的，惟有蛇比田野一切的活物更狡猾。蛇對女人說：「　神豈是真說不許你們吃園中所有樹上的果子嗎？」Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’”

²女人對蛇說：「園中樹上的果子，我們可以吃，The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden,

³惟有園當中那棵樹上的果子，　神曾說：『你們不可吃，也不可摸，免得你們死。』」but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’”

⁴蛇對女人說：「你們不一定死；“You will not surely die,” the serpent told the woman.

⁵因為　神知道，你們吃的日子眼睛就明亮了，你們便如　神能知道善惡。」“For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

人吃了禁果

⁶於是女人見那棵樹的果子好作食物，也悅人的眼目，且是可喜愛的，能使人有智慧，就摘下果子來吃了，又給她丈夫，她丈夫也吃了。When the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eyes, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.

⁷他們二人的眼睛就明亮了，才知道自己是赤身露體，便拿無花果樹的葉子為自己編做裙子。And the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; so they sewed together fig leaves and made coverings for themselves.

神呼喚那人

⁸天起了涼風，耶和華　神在園中行走。那人和他妻子聽見　神的聲音，就藏在園裡的樹木中，躲避耶和華　神的面。Then the man and his wife heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the breeze of the day, and they hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

⁹耶和華　神呼喚那人，對他說：「你在哪裡？」But the LORD God called out to the man, “Where are you?”

¹⁰他說：「我在園中聽見你的聲音，我就害怕；因為我赤身露體，我便藏了。」“I heard Your voice in the garden,” he replied, “and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”

¹¹耶和華說：「誰告訴你赤身露體呢？莫非你吃了我吩咐你不可吃的那樹上的果子嗎？」“Who told you that you were naked?” asked the LORD God. “Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

¹²那人說：「你所賜給我、與我同居的女人，她把那樹上的果子給我，我就吃了。」And the man answered, “The woman whom You gave me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

¹³耶和華　神對女人說：「你做的是甚麼事呢？」女人說：「那蛇引誘我，我就吃了。」Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” “The serpent deceived me,” she replied, “and I ate.”

神對蛇、女人、亞當的宣判

¹⁴耶和華　神對蛇說：你既做了這事，就必受咒詛，比一切的牲畜野獸更甚；你必用肚子行走，終身吃土。So the LORD God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and every beast of the field! On your belly will you go, and dust you will eat, all the days of your life.

¹⁵我又要叫你和女人彼此為仇；你的後裔和女人的後裔也彼此為仇。女人的後裔要傷你的頭；你要傷他的腳跟。And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

¹⁶又對女人說：我必多多加增你懷胎的苦楚；你生產兒女必多受苦楚。你必戀慕你丈夫；你丈夫必管轄你。To the woman He said: “I will sharply increase your pain in childbirth; in pain you will bring forth children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”

¹⁷又對亞當說：你既聽從妻子的話，吃了我所吩咐你不可吃的那樹上的果子，地必為你的緣故受咒詛；你必終身勞苦才能從地裡得吃的。And to Adam He said: “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat, cursed is the ground because of you; through toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

¹⁸地必給你長出荊棘和蒺藜來；你也要吃田間的菜蔬。Both thorns and thistles it will yield for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.

¹⁹你必汗流滿面才得糊口，直到你歸了土，因為你是從土而出的。你本是塵土，仍要歸於塵土。By the sweat of your brow you will eat your bread, until you return to the ground—because out of it were you taken. For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

夏娃與皮衣

²⁰亞當給他妻子起名叫夏娃，因為她是眾生之母。And Adam named his wife Eve, because she would be the mother of all the living.

²¹耶和華　神為亞當和他妻子用皮子做衣服給他們穿。And the LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and He clothed them.

被趕出伊甸園

²²耶和華　神說：「那人已經與我們相似，能知道善惡；現在恐怕他伸手又摘生命樹的果子吃，就永遠活著。」Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil. And now, lest he reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever...”

²³耶和華　神便打發他出伊甸園去，耕種他所自出之土。Therefore the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.

²⁴於是把他趕出去了；又在伊甸園的東邊安設基路伯和四面轉動發火焰的劍，要把守生命樹的道路。So He drove out the man and stationed cherubim on the east side of the Garden of Eden, along with a whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life.

該隱和亞伯的供物

¹有一日，那人和他妻子夏娃同房，夏娃就懷孕，生了該隱（就是得的意思），便說：「耶和華使我得了一個男子。」And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said.

²又生了該隱的兄弟亞伯。亞伯是牧羊的；該隱是種地的。Later she gave birth to Cain’s brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, while Cain was a tiller of the soil.

³有一日，該隱拿地裡的出產為供物獻給耶和華；So in the course of time, Cain brought some of the fruit of the soil as an offering to the LORD,

⁴亞伯也將他羊群中頭生的和羊的脂油獻上。耶和華看中了亞伯和他的供物，while Abel brought the best portions of the firstborn of his flock. And the LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,

⁵只是看不中該隱和他的供物。該隱就大大地發怒，變了臉色。but He had no regard for Cain and his offering. So Cain became very angry, and his countenance fell.

⁶耶和華對該隱說：「你為甚麼發怒呢？你為甚麼變了臉色呢？“Why are you angry,” said the LORD to Cain, “and why has your countenance fallen?

⁷你若行得好，豈不蒙悅納？你若行得不好，罪就伏在門前。它必戀慕你，你卻要制伏它。」If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you refuse to do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires you, but you must master it.”

該隱殺了亞伯

⁸該隱與他兄弟亞伯說話；二人正在田間。該隱起來打他兄弟亞伯，把他殺了。Then Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let us go out to the field.” And while they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him.

¹⁰耶和華說：「你做了甚麼事呢？你兄弟的血有聲音從地裡向我哀告。“What have you done?” replied the LORD. “The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground.

¹¹地開了口，從你手裡接受你兄弟的血。現在你必從這地受咒詛。Now you are cursed and banished from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

¹²你種地，地不再給你效力；你必流離飄蕩在地上。」When you till the ground, it will no longer yield its produce to you. You will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth.”

¹³該隱對耶和華說：「我的刑罰太重，過於我所能當的。But Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.

¹⁴你如今趕逐我離開這地，以致不見你面；我必流離飄蕩在地上，凡遇見我的必殺我。」Behold, this day You have driven me from the face of the earth, and from Your face I will be hidden; I will be a fugitive and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

¹⁵耶和華對他說：「凡殺該隱的，必遭報七倍。」耶和華就給該隱立一個記號，免得人遇見他就殺他。“Not so!” replied the LORD. “If anyone slays Cain, then Cain will be avenged sevenfold.” And the LORD placed a mark on Cain, so that no one who found him would kill him.

¹⁶於是該隱離開耶和華的面，去住在伊甸東邊挪得之地。So Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

該隱的後代與拉麥

¹⁷該隱與妻子同房，他妻子就懷孕，生了以諾。該隱建造了一座城，就按著他兒子的名將那城叫做以諾。And Cain had relations with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. Then Cain built a city and named it after his son Enoch.

¹⁸以諾生以拿；以拿生米戶雅利；米戶雅利生瑪土撒利；瑪土撒利生拉麥。Now to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methusael, and Methusael was the father of Lamech.

¹⁹拉麥娶了兩個妻：一個名叫亞大，一個名叫洗拉。And Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.

²⁰亞大生雅八；雅八就是住帳棚、牧養牲畜之人的祖師。Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and raise livestock.

²¹雅八的兄弟名叫猶八；他是一切彈琴吹簫之人的祖師。And his brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play the harp and flute.

²²洗拉又生了土八‧該隱；他是打造各樣銅鐵利器的（或譯：是銅匠鐵匠的祖師）。土八‧該隱的妹子是拿瑪。And Zillah gave birth to Tubal-cain, a forger of every implement of bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.

²³拉麥對他兩個妻子說：亞大、洗拉，聽我的聲音；拉麥的妻子，細聽我的話語：壯年人傷我，我把他殺了；少年人損我，我把他害了（或譯：我殺壯士卻傷自己，我害幼童卻損本身）。Then Lamech said to his wives: “Adah and Zillah, hear my voice; wives of Lamech, listen to my speech. For I have slain a man for wounding me, a young man for striking me.

²⁴若殺該隱，遭報七倍，殺拉麥，必遭報七十七倍。If Cain is avenged sevenfold, then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”

塞特出生，人求告耶和華

²⁵亞當又與妻子同房，她就生了一個兒子，起名叫塞特，意思說：「　神另給我立了一個兒子代替亞伯，因為該隱殺了他。」And Adam again had relations with his wife, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, “God has granted me another seed in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”

²⁶塞特也生了一個兒子，起名叫以挪士。那時候，人才求告耶和華的名。And to Seth also a son was born, and he called him Enosh. At that time men began to call upon the name of the LORD.

從亞當到挪亞的家譜

¹亞當的後代記在下面。（當　神造人的日子，是照著自己的樣式造的，This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness.

²並且造男造女。在他們被造的日子，　神賜福給他們，稱他們為「人」。）Male and female He created them, and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them “man.”

³亞當活到一百三十歲，生了一個兒子，形像樣式和自己相似，就給他起名叫塞特。When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son in his own likeness, after his own image; and he named him Seth.

⁴亞當生塞特之後，又在世八百年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Seth, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

⁵亞當共活了九百三十歲就死了。So Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.

⁶塞特活到一百零五歲，生了以挪士。When Seth was 105 years old, he became the father of Enosh.

⁷塞特生以挪士之後，又活了八百零七年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters.

⁸塞特共活了九百一十二歲就死了。So Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.

⁹以挪士活到九十歲，生了該南。When Enosh was 90 years old, he became the father of Kenan.

¹⁰以挪士生該南之後，又活了八百一十五年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters.

¹¹以挪士共活了九百零五歲就死了。So Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died.

¹²該南活到七十歲，生了瑪勒列。When Kenan was 70 years old, he became the father of Mahalalel.

¹³該南生瑪勒列之後，又活了八百四十年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters.

¹⁴該南共活了九百一十歲就死了。So Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.

¹⁵瑪勒列活到六十五歲，生了雅列。When Mahalalel was 65 years old, he became the father of Jared.

¹⁶瑪勒列生雅列之後，又活了八百三十年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters.

¹⁷瑪勒列共活了八百九十五歲就死了。So Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.

¹⁸雅列活到一百六十二歲，生了以諾。When Jared was 162 years old, he became the father of Enoch.

¹⁹雅列生以諾之後，又活了八百年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁰雅列共活了九百六十二歲就死了。So Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.

以諾與神同行

²¹以諾活到六十五歲，生了瑪土撒拉。When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah.

²²以諾生瑪土撒拉之後，與　神同行三百年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters.

²³以諾共活了三百六十五歲。So Enoch lived a total of 365 years.

²⁴以諾與　神同行，　神將他取去，他就不在世了。Enoch walked with God, and then he was no more, because God had taken him away.

²⁵瑪土撒拉活到一百八十七歲，生了拉麥。When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech.

²⁶瑪土撒拉生拉麥之後，又活了七百八十二年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁷瑪土撒拉共活了九百六十九歲就死了。So Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.

挪亞出生

²⁸拉麥活到一百八十二歲，生了一個兒子，When Lamech was 182 years old, he had a son.

²⁹給他起名叫挪亞，說：「這個兒子必為我們的操作和手中的勞苦安慰我們；這操作勞苦是因為耶和華咒詛地。」And he named him Noah, saying, “May this one comfort us in the labor and toil of our hands caused by the ground that the LORD has cursed.”

³⁰拉麥生挪亞之後，又活了五百九十五年，並且生兒養女。And after he had become the father of Noah, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters.

³¹拉麥共活了七百七十七歲就死了。So Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.

³²挪亞五百歲生了閃、含、雅弗。After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

博士從東方來

¹當希律王的時候，耶穌生在猶太的伯利恆。有幾個博士從東方來到耶路撒冷，說：After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem,

²「那生下來作猶太人之王的在哪裡？我們在東方看見他的星，特來拜他。」asking, “Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

希律打聽基督生在何處

³希律王聽見了，就心裡不安；耶路撒冷合城的人也都不安。When King Herod heard this, he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.

⁴他就召齊了祭司長和民間的文士，問他們說：「基督當生在何處？」And when he had assembled all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.

⁵他們回答說：「在猶太的伯利恆。因為有先知記著，說：“In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written:

⁶猶大地的伯利恆啊，你在猶大諸城中並不是最小的；因為將來有一位君王要從你那裡出來，牧養我以色列民。」‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of My people Israel.’”

希律暗中召見博士

⁷當下，希律暗暗地召了博士來，細問那星是甚麼時候出現的，Then Herod called the Magi secretly and learned from them the exact time the star had appeared.

⁸就差他們往伯利恆去，說：「你們去仔細尋訪那小孩子，尋到了就來報信，我也好去拜他。」And sending them to Bethlehem, he said: “Go and search carefully for the Child, and when you find Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship Him.”

星引路，博士獻禮

⁹他們聽見王的話就去了。在東方所看見的那星忽然在他們前頭行，直行到小孩子的地方，就在上頭停住了。After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the Child was.

¹⁰他們看見那星，就大大地歡喜；When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great delight.

¹¹進了房子，看見小孩子和他母親馬利亞，就俯伏拜那小孩子，揭開寶盒，拿黃金、乳香、沒藥為禮物獻給他。On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

¹²博士因為在夢中被主指示不要回去見希律，就從別的路回本地去了。And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they withdrew to their country by another route.

逃往埃及

¹³他們去後，有主的使者向約瑟夢中顯現，說：「起來！帶著小孩子同他母親逃往埃及，住在那裡，等我吩咐你；因為希律必尋找小孩子，要除滅他。」When the Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”

¹⁴約瑟就起來，夜間帶著小孩子和他母親往埃及去，So he got up, took the Child and His mother by night, and withdrew to Egypt,

¹⁵住在那裡，直到希律死了。這是要應驗主藉先知所說的話，說：「我從埃及召出我的兒子來。」where he stayed until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

希律殺伯利恆的男孩

¹⁶希律見自己被博士愚弄，就大大發怒，差人將伯利恆城裡並四境所有的男孩，照著他向博士仔細查問的時候，凡兩歲以裡的，都殺盡了。When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was filled with rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the Magi.

¹⁷這就應了先知耶利米的話，說：Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

¹⁸在拉瑪聽見號咷大哭的聲音，是拉結哭她兒女，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

回到以色列，住在拿撒勒

¹⁹希律死了以後，有主的使者在埃及向約瑟夢中顯現，說：After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt.

²⁰「起來！帶著小孩子和他母親往以色列地去，因為要害小孩子性命的人已經死了。」“Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, for those seeking the Child’s life are now dead.”

²¹約瑟就起來，把小孩子和他母親帶到以色列地去；So Joseph got up, took the Child and His mother, and went to the land of Israel.

²²只因聽見亞基老接著他父親希律作了猶太王，就怕往那裡去，又在夢中被主指示，便往加利利境內去了，But when he learned that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee,

²³到了一座城，名叫拿撒勒，就住在那裡。這是要應驗先知所說，他將稱為拿撒勒人的話了。and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was spoken through the prophets: “He will be called a Nazarene.”
