1耶和华论列国的话临到先知耶利米。This is the word of the LORD about the nations—the word that came to Jeremiah the prophet
2论到关乎埃及王法老尼哥的军队：这军队安营在幼发拉底河边的，是巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒在犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬第四年所打败的。concerning Egypt and the army of Pharaoh Neco king of Egypt, which was defeated at Carchemish on the Euphrates River by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah:
3你们要预备大小盾牌，往前上阵。“Deploy your shields, small and large; advance for battle!
4你们套上车，骑上马！顶盔站立，！Harness the horses; mount the steeds; take your positions with helmets on! Polish your spears; put on armor!
5我为何看见他们惊惶转身退后呢？他们的勇士打败了，急忙逃跑，并不回头；惊吓四围都有！这是耶和华说的。Why am I seeing this? They are terrified, they are retreating; their warriors are defeated, they flee in haste without looking back; terror is on every side!” declares the LORD.
6不要容快跑的逃避；不要容勇士逃脱（或译：快跑的不能逃避；勇士不能逃脱）；他们在北方幼发拉底河边绊跌仆倒。“The swift cannot flee, and the warrior cannot escape! In the north by the River Euphrates they stumble and fall.
7像尼罗河涨发，像江河之水翻腾的是谁呢？Who is this, rising like the Nile, like rivers whose waters churn?
8埃及像尼罗河涨发，像江河的水翻腾。他说：我要涨发遮盖遍地；我要毁灭城邑和其中的居民。Egypt rises like the Nile, and its waters churn like rivers, boasting, ‘I will rise and cover the earth; I will destroy the cities and their people.’
9马匹上去吧！车辆急行吧！勇士，就是手拿盾牌的古实人和（又作利比亚人），并拉弓的路德族，都出去吧！Advance, O horses! Race furiously, O chariots! Let the warriors come forth—Cush and Put carrying their shields, men of Lydia drawing the bow.
10那日是主—万军之耶和华报仇的日子，要向敌人报仇。刀剑必吞吃得饱，饮血饮足；因为主—万军之耶和华在北方幼发拉底河边有献祭的事。For that day belongs to the Lord GOD of Hosts, a day of vengeance against His foes. The sword will devour until it is satisfied, until it is quenched with their blood. For the Lord GOD of Hosts will hold a sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.
11埃及的民（原文是处女）哪，可以上取去；你虽多服良药，总是徒然，不得治好。Go up to Gilead for balm, O Virgin Daughter of Egypt! In vain you try many remedies, but for you there is no healing.
12列国听见你的羞辱，遍地满了你的哀声；勇士与勇士彼此相碰，一齐跌倒。The nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth, because warrior stumbles over warrior and both of them have fallen together.”
13耶和华对先知耶利米所说的话，论到巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒要来攻击埃及地：This is the word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet about the coming of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to strike the land of Egypt:
14你们要传扬在埃及，宣告在密夺，报告在挪弗、答比匿说：要站起出队，自作准备，因为刀剑在你四围施行吞灭的事。“Announce it in Egypt, and proclaim it in Migdol; proclaim it in Memphis and Tahpanhes: ‘Take your positions and prepare yourself, for the sword devours those around you.’
15你的壮士为何被冲去呢？他们站立不住；因为耶和华驱逐他们，Why have your warriors been laid low? They cannot stand, for the LORD has thrust them down.
16使多人绊跌；他们也彼此撞倒，说：起来吧！我们再往本民本地去，好躲避欺压的刀剑。They continue to stumble; indeed, they have fallen over one another. They say, ‘Get up! Let us return to our people and to the land of our birth, away from the sword of the oppressor.’
17他们在那里喊叫说：埃及王法老不过是个声音（或译：已经败亡）；他已错过所定的时候了。There they will cry out: ‘Pharaoh king of Egypt was all noise; he has let the appointed time pass him by.’
18君王—名为万军之耶和华的说：我指着我的永生起誓：尼布甲尼撒（原文是他）来的势派必像在众山之中，像迦密在海边一样。As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts, there will come one who is like Tabor among the mountains and like Carmel by the sea.
19住在埃及的民（原文是女子）哪，要预备掳去时所用的物件；因为挪弗必成为荒场，且被烧毁，无人居住。Pack your bags for exile, O daughter dwelling in Egypt! For Memphis will be laid waste, destroyed and uninhabited.
20埃及是肥美的母牛犊；但出于北方的（或译：牛虻）来到了！来到了！Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a gadfly from the north is coming against her.
21其中的好像圈里的肥牛犊，他们转身退后，一齐逃跑，站立不住；因为他们遭难的日子、追讨的时候已经临到。Even the mercenaries among her are like fattened calves. They too will turn back; together they will flee, they will not stand their ground, for the day of calamity is coming upon them—the time of their punishment.
22其中的声音好像一样。敌人要成队而来，如砍伐树木的手拿斧子攻击他。Egypt will hiss like a fleeing serpent, for the enemy will advance in force; with axes they will come against her like woodsmen cutting down trees.
23耶和华说：埃及的树林虽然不能寻察（或译：穿不过），敌人却要砍伐，因他们多于蝗虫，不可胜数。They will chop down her forest, declares the LORD, dense though it may be, for they are more numerous than locusts; they cannot be counted.
24埃及的民（原文是女子）必然蒙羞，必交在北方人的手中。The Daughter of Egypt will be put to shame; she will be delivered into the hands of the people of the north.”
25万军之耶和华—以色列的 神说：“我必刑罚（埃及尊大之神）和法老，并埃及与埃及的神，以及君王，也必刑罚法老和倚靠他的人。The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I am about to punish Amon god of Thebes, along with Pharaoh, Egypt with her gods and kings, and those who trust in Pharaoh.
26我要将他们交付寻索其命之人的手和巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒与他臣仆的手；以后埃及必再有人居住，与从前一样。这是耶和华说的。”I will deliver them into the hands of those who seek their lives—of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. But after this, Egypt will be inhabited as in days of old, declares the LORD.
27我的仆人雅各啊，不要惧怕！以色列啊，不要惊惶！因我要从远方拯救你，从被掳到之地拯救你的后裔。雅各必回来，得享平靖安逸，无人使他害怕。But you, O Jacob My servant, do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, O Israel. For I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return to quiet and ease, with no one to make him afraid.
28我的仆人雅各啊，不要惧怕！因我与你同在。我要将我所赶你到的那些国灭绝净尽，却不将你灭绝净尽，倒要你，万不能不罚你（不罚你：或译以你为无罪）。这是耶和华说的。And you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid, declares the LORD, for I am with you. Though I will completely destroy all the nations to which I have banished you, I will not completely destroy you. Yet I will discipline you justly, and will by no means leave you unpunished.”
