1犹大王约西亚的儿子约雅敬第四年，尼利亚的儿子巴录将先知耶利米口中所说的话写在书上。耶利米说：This is the word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words on a scroll at the dictation of Jeremiah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah:
2“巴录啊，耶和华—以色列的 神说：“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says to you, Baruch:
3巴录（原文是你）曾说：‘哀哉！耶和华将忧愁加在我的痛苦上，我因而困乏，不得安歇。’You have said, ‘Woe is me because the LORD has added sorrow to my pain! I am worn out with groaning and have found no rest.’”
4你要这样告诉他，耶和华如此说：我所建立的，我必拆毁；我所栽植的，我必拔出；在全地我都如此行。Thus Jeremiah was to say to Baruch: “This is what the LORD says: Throughout the land I will demolish what I have built and uproot what I have planted.
5你为自己吗？不要图谋！我必使灾祸临到凡有血气的。但你无论往哪里去，我必使你以自己的命为掠物。这是耶和华说的。”But as for you, do you seek great things for yourself? Stop seeking! For I will bring disaster on every living creature, declares the LORD, but wherever you go, I will grant your life as a spoil of war.”
