1亚伯拉罕从那里向南地迁去，寄居在加低斯和书珥中间的。Now Abraham journeyed from there to the region of the Negev and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he was staying in Gerar,
2亚伯拉罕称他的妻撒拉为妹子，基拉耳王差人把撒拉取了去。Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.” So Abimelech king of Gerar had Sarah brought to him.
3但夜间， 神来，在梦中对亚比米勒说：“你是个死人哪！因为你取了那女人来；她原是别人的妻子。”One night, however, God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is a married woman.”
4亚比米勒却还没有亲近撒拉；他说：“主啊，连有义的国，你也要毁灭吗？Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he replied, “Lord, would You destroy a nation even though it is innocent?
5那人岂不是自己对我说‘她是我的妹子’吗？就是女人也自己说：‘他是我的哥哥。’我做这事是的。”Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ I have done this in the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands.”
6神在梦中对他说：“我知道你做这事是心中正直；我也拦阻了你，免得你得罪我，所以我不容你沾着她。Then God said to Abimelech in the dream, “Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against Me. That is why I did not let you touch her.
7现在你把这人的妻子归还他；因为他是，他要为你祷告，使你存活。你若不归还他，你当知道，你和你所有的人都必要死。”Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet; he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, be aware that you will surely die—you and all who belong to you.”
8亚比米勒清早起来，召了众臣仆来，将这些事都说给他们听，他们都甚惧怕。Early the next morning Abimelech got up and summoned all his servants; and when he described to them all that had happened, the men were terrified.
9亚比米勒召了亚伯拉罕来，对他说：“你怎么向我这样行呢？我在什么事上得罪了你，你竟使我和我国里的人陷在大罪里？你向我行不当行的事了！”Then Abimelech called Abraham and asked, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought such tremendous guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done.”
10亚比米勒又对亚伯拉罕说：“你见了什么才做这事呢？”Abimelech also asked Abraham, “What prompted you to do such a thing?”
11亚伯拉罕说：“我以为这地方的人总不惧怕 神，必为我妻子的缘故杀我。Abraham replied, “I thought to myself, ‘Surely there is no fear of God in this place. They will kill me on account of my wife.’
12况且她也实在是我的妹子；她与我是同父异母，后来作了我的妻子。Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father—though not the daughter of my mother—and she became my wife.
13当 神叫我离开父家、飘流在外的时候，我对她说：‘我们无论走到什么地方，你可以对人说：他是我的哥哥；这就是你待我的恩典了。’”So when God had me journey from my father’s house, I said to Sarah, ‘This is how you can show your loyalty to me: Wherever we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
14亚比米勒把牛、羊、仆婢赐给亚伯拉罕，又把他的妻子撒拉归还他。So Abimelech brought sheep and cattle, menservants and maidservants, and he gave them to Abraham and restored his wife Sarah to him.
15亚比米勒又说：“看哪，我的地都在你面前，你可以随意居住”；And Abimelech said, “Look, my land is before you. Settle wherever you please.”
16又对撒拉说：“我给你哥哥一千银子，作为你在合家人面前（羞：原文是眼），你就在众人面前没有不是了。”And he said to Sarah, “See, I am giving your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is your vindication before all who are with you; you are completely cleared.”
17亚伯拉罕祷告 神， 神就医好了亚比米勒和他的妻子，并他的众女仆，她们便能生育。Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants, so that they could again bear children—
18因耶和华为亚伯拉罕的妻子撒拉的缘故，已经使亚比米勒家中的妇人不能生育。for on account of Abraham’s wife Sarah, the LORD had completely closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household.
