1亚玛谢登基的时候年二十五岁，在耶路撒冷作王二十九年。他母亲名叫约耶但，是耶路撒冷人。Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.
2亚玛谢行耶和华眼中看为正的事，只是。And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.
3国一坚定，就把杀他父王的臣仆杀了，As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king.
4却没有治死他们的儿子，是照上耶和华所吩咐的说：“不可因子杀父，也不可因父杀子，各人要为本身的罪而死。”Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”
5亚玛谢招聚犹大人，按着犹大和便雅悯的宗族设立千夫长、百夫长，又数点人数，从二十岁以外，能拿枪拿盾牌出去打仗的精兵共有三十万；Then Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the spear and shield.
6又用银子一百，从以色列了十万大能的勇士。He also hired 100,000 mighty men of valor from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.
7有一个神人来见亚玛谢，对他说：“王啊，不要使以色列的军兵与你同去，因为耶和华不与以色列人的后裔同在。But a man of God came to him and said, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the Ephraimites.
8你若一定要去，就奋勇争战吧！但 神必使你败在敌人面前；因为 神能助人得胜，也能使人。”Even if you go and fight bravely in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has power to help and power to overthrow.”
9亚玛谢问神人说：“我给了以色列军的那一百他连得银子怎么样呢？”神人回答说：“耶和华能把更多的赐给你。”Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have given to the troops of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”
10于是亚玛谢将那从以法莲来的军兵分别出来，叫他们回家去。故此，他们甚恼怒犹大人，地回家去了。So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. And they were furious with Judah and returned home in great anger.
11亚玛谢壮起胆来，率领他的民到，杀了人一万。Amaziah, however, summoned his strength and led his troops to the Valley of Salt, where he struck down 10,000 men of Seir,
12犹大人又生擒了一万带到上，从那里把他们扔下去，以致他们都摔碎了。and the army of Judah also captured 10,000 men alive. They took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces.
13但亚玛谢所打发回去、不许一同出征的那些军兵攻打犹大各城，从撒马利亚直到伯·和仑，杀了三千人，抢了许多财物。Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had dismissed from battle raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon. They struck down 3,000 people and carried off a great deal of plunder.
14亚玛谢杀了以东人回来，就把西珥的神像带回，立为自己的神，在它面前叩拜烧香。When Amaziah returned from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the Seirites, set them up as his own gods, bowed before them, and burned sacrifices to them.
15因此，耶和华的怒气向亚玛谢发作，就差一个先知去见他，说：“这些神不能救它的民脱离你的手，你为何寻求它呢？”Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet, who said, “Why have you sought this people’s gods, which could not deliver them from your hand?”
16先知与王说话的时候，王对他说：“谁立你作王的谋士呢？你住口吧！为何呢？”先知就止住了，又说：“你行这事，不听从我的劝戒，我知道 神定意要灭你。”While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”
17犹大王亚玛谢与群臣商议，就差遣使者去见耶户的孙子、约哈斯的儿子、以色列王约阿施，说：“你来，我们二人相见于战场。”Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent word to the king of Israel Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu. “Come, let us meet face to face,” he said.
18以色列王约阿施差遣使者去见犹大王亚玛谢，说：“黎巴嫩的差遣使者去见黎巴嫩的香柏树，说：‘将你的女儿给我儿子为妻。’后来黎巴嫩有一个野兽经过，把蒺藜践踏了。But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.
19你说：‘看哪，我打败了以东人’，你就心高气傲，以致。你在家里安居就罢了，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大国一同败亡呢？”You have said, ‘Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and your heart has become proud and boastful. Now stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?”
20亚玛谢却不肯听从。这是出乎 神，好将他们交在敌人手里，因为他们寻求以东的神。But Amaziah would not listen, for this had come from God in order to deliver them into the hand of Jehoash, because they had sought the gods of Edom.
21于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的与犹大王亚玛谢相见于战场。So Jehoash king of Israel advanced, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh in Judah.
22犹大人败在以色列人面前，各自逃回家里去了。And Judah was routed before Israel, and every man fled to his own home.
23以色列王约阿施在伯·示麦擒住约哈斯（就是亚哈谢）的孙子、约阿施的儿子、犹大王亚玛谢，将他带到耶路撒冷，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙，从以法莲门直到角门，共四百肘；There at Beth-shemesh, Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate—a section of four hundred cubits.
24又将俄别·以东所看守 神殿里的一切金银和器皿，与王宫里的财宝都拿了去，并带人去，就回撒马利亚去了。He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of God with Obed-edom and in the treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.
25以色列王约哈斯的儿子约阿施死后，犹大王约阿施的儿子亚玛谢又活了十五年。Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.
26亚玛谢其余的事，自始至终不都写在犹大和以色列诸王记上吗？As for the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?
27自从亚玛谢离弃耶和华之后，在耶路撒冷有人背叛他，他就逃到；叛党却打发人到拉吉，将他杀了。From the time that Amaziah turned from following the LORD, a conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But men were sent after him to Lachish, and they killed him there.
28人就用马将他的尸首驮回，葬在犹大京城他列祖的坟地里。They carried him back on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.
