罗波安接续作王

³¹所罗门与他列祖同睡，葬在他父大卫城里。他儿子罗波安接续他作王。And Solomon rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David. And his son Rehoboam reigned in his place.

百姓求减轻重轭

¹罗波安往示剑去，因为以色列人都到了示剑，要立他作王。Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had gone there to make him king.

²尼八的儿子耶罗波安先前躲避所罗门王，逃往埃及，住在那里；他听见这事，就从埃及回来。When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he returned from Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon.

³以色列人打发人去请他，他就和以色列众人来见罗波安，对他说：So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and all Israel came to Rehoboam and said,

⁴“你父亲使我们负重轭做苦工，现在求你使我们做的苦工负的重轭轻松些，我们就事奉你。”“Your father put a heavy yoke on us. But now you must lighten the burden of your father’s service and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”

⁵罗波安对他们说：“第三日再来见我吧！”民就去了。Rehoboam answered, “Come back to me in three days.” So the people departed.

不听老年人的主意

⁶罗波安之父所罗门在世的日子，有侍立在他面前的老年人，罗波安王和他们商议，说：“你们给我出个什么主意，我好回复这民。”Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you advise me to respond to these people?” he asked.

⁷老年人对他说：“王若恩待这民，使他们喜悦，用好话回复他们，他们就永远作王的仆人。”They replied, “If you will be kind to these people and please them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”

⁸王却不用老年人给他出的主意，就和那些与他一同长大、在他面前侍立的少年人商议，But Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders; instead, he consulted the young men who had grown up with him and served him.

⁹说：“这民对我说：‘你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些’；你们给我出个什么主意，我好回复他们。”He asked them, “What message do you advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Lighten the yoke your father put on us’?”

¹⁰那同他长大的少年人说：“这民对王说：‘你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些’；王要对他们如此说：“我的小拇指比我父亲的腰还粗；The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you must make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist!

¹¹我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。’”Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.’”

¹²耶罗波安和众百姓遵着罗波安王所说“你们第三日再来见我”的那话，第三日他们果然来了。After three days, Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”

¹³罗波安王用严厉的话回复他们，不用老年人所出的主意，And the king answered them harshly. King Rehoboam rejected the advice of the elders

¹⁴照着少年人所出的主意对他们说：“我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭；我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子鞭责打你们。”and spoke to them as the young men had advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your yoke heavy, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father scourged you with whips, I will scourge you with scorpions.”

¹⁵王不肯依从百姓；这事乃出于　神，为要应验耶和华借示罗人亚希雅对尼八儿子耶罗波安所说的话。So the king did not listen to the people, and indeed this turn of events was from God, in order that the LORD might fulfill the word that He had spoken through Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam son of Nebat.

以色列人背叛大卫家

¹⁶以色列众民见王不依从他们，就对王说：我们与大卫有什么分儿呢？与耶西的儿子并没有关涉！以色列人哪，各回各家去吧！大卫家啊，自己顾自己吧！于是，以色列众人都回自己家里去了。When all Israel saw that the king had refused to listen to them, they answered the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in the son of Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So all the Israelites went home,

¹⁷惟独住在犹大城邑的以色列人，罗波安仍作他们的王。but Rehoboam still reigned over the Israelites living in the cities of Judah.

¹⁸罗波安王差遣掌管服苦之人的哈多兰往以色列人那里去，以色列人就用石头打死他。罗波安王急忙上车，逃回耶路撒冷去了。Then King Rehoboam sent out Hadoram, who was in charge of the forced labor, but the Israelites stoned him to death. And King Rehoboam mounted his chariot in haste and escaped to Jerusalem.

¹⁹这样，以色列人背叛大卫家，直到今日。So to this day Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David.

神禁止攻打北方

¹罗波安来到耶路撒冷，招聚犹大家和便雅悯家，共十八万人，都是挑选的战士，要与以色列人争战，好将国夺回再归自己。When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he mobilized the house of Judah and Benjamin—180,000 chosen warriors—to fight against Israel and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

²但耶和华的话临到神人示玛雅说：But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God:

³“你去告诉所罗门的儿子犹大王罗波安和住犹大、便雅悯的以色列众人说，“Tell Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah and all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin

⁴耶和华如此说：‘你们不可上去与你们的弟兄争战，各归各家去吧！因为这事出于我。’”众人就听从耶和华的话归回，不去与耶罗波安争战。that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers. Each of you must return home, for this is My doing.’” So they listened to the words of the LORD and turned back from going against Jeroboam.

罗波安修筑坚固城

⁵罗波安住在耶路撒冷，在犹大地修筑城邑，Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he built up cities for defense in Judah.

⁶为保障修筑伯利恒、以坦、提哥亚、He built up Bethlehem, Etam, Tekoa,

⁷伯·夙、梭哥、亚杜兰、Beth-zur, Soco, Adullam,

⁸迦特、玛利沙、西弗、Gath, Mareshah, Ziph,

⁹亚多莱音、拉吉、亚西加、Adoraim, Lachish, Azekah,

¹⁰琐拉、亚雅仑、希伯仑。这都是犹大和便雅悯的坚固城。Zorah, Aijalon, and Hebron, the fortified cities in Judah and Benjamin.

¹¹罗波安又坚固各处的保障，在其中安置军长，又预备下粮食、油、酒。He strengthened their fortifications and put officers in them, with supplies of food, oil, and wine.

¹²他在各城里预备盾牌和枪，且使城极其坚固。犹大和便雅悯都归了他。He also put shields and spears in all the cities and strengthened them greatly. So Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.

祭司和利未人来归

¹³以色列全地的祭司和利未人都从四方来归罗波安。Moreover, the priests and Levites from all their districts throughout Israel stood with Rehoboam.

¹⁴利未人撇下他们的郊野和产业，来到犹大与耶路撒冷，是因耶罗波安和他的儿子拒绝他们，不许他们供祭司职分事奉耶和华。For the Levites left their pasturelands and their possessions and went to Judah and Jerusalem, because Jeroboam and his sons had rejected them as priests of the LORD.

¹⁵耶罗波安为邱坛、为鬼魔（原文是公山羊）、为自己所铸造的牛犊设立祭司。And Jeroboam appointed his own priests for the high places and for the goat demons and calf idols he had made.

¹⁶以色列各支派中，凡立定心意寻求耶和华—以色列　神的，都随从利未人，来到耶路撒冷祭祀耶和华—他们列祖的　神。Those from every tribe of Israel who had set their hearts to seek the LORD their God followed the Levites to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD, the God of their fathers.

¹⁷这样，就坚固犹大国，使所罗门的儿子罗波安强盛三年，因为他们三年遵行大卫和所罗门的道。So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and supported Rehoboam son of Solomon for three years, because they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon.

罗波安的家室

¹⁸罗波安娶大卫儿子耶利摩的女儿玛哈拉为妻，又娶耶西儿子以利押的女儿亚比孩为妻。And Rehoboam married Mahalath, who was the daughter of David’s son Jerimoth and of Abihail, the daughter of Jesse’s son Eliab.

¹⁹从她生了几个儿子，就是耶乌施、示玛利雅、撒罕。She bore sons to him: Jeush, Shemariah, and Zaham.

²⁰后来又娶押沙龙的女儿玛迦（十三章二节是乌列的女儿米该亚），从她生了亚比雅、亚太、细撒、示罗密。After her, he married Maacah daughter of Absalom, and she bore to him Abijah, Attai, Ziza, and Shelomith.

²¹罗波安娶十八个妻，立六十个妾，生二十八个儿子，六十个女儿；他却爱押沙龙的女儿玛迦，比爱别的妻妾更甚。Rehoboam loved Maacah daughter of Absalom more than all his wives and concubines. In all, he had eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and he was the father of twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.

²²罗波安立玛迦的儿子亚比雅作太子，在他弟兄中为首，因为想要立他接续作王。Rehoboam appointed Abijah son of Maacah as chief prince among his brothers, intending to make him king.

²³罗波安办事精明，使他众子分散在犹大和便雅悯全地各坚固城里，又赐他们许多粮食，为他们多寻妻子。Rehoboam also acted wisely by dispersing some of his sons throughout the districts of Judah and Benjamin, and to all the fortified cities. He gave them abundant provisions and sought many wives for them.

离弃律法，示撒来攻

¹罗波安的国坚立，他强盛的时候就离弃耶和华的律法，以色列人也都随从他。After Rehoboam had established his sovereignty and royal power, he and all Israel with him forsook the Law of the LORD.

²罗波安王第五年，埃及王示撒上来攻打耶路撒冷，因为王和民得罪了耶和华。In the fifth year of Rehoboam’s reign, because they had been unfaithful to the LORD, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem

³示撒带战车一千二百辆，马兵六万，并且跟从他出埃及的路比人、苏基人，和古实人，多得不可胜数。with 1,200 chariots, 60,000 horsemen, and countless troops who came with him out of Egypt—Libyans, Sukkites, and Cushites.

⁴他攻取了犹大的坚固城，就来到耶路撒冷。He captured the fortified cities of Judah and came as far as Jerusalem.

先知示玛雅的信息

⁵那时，犹大的首领因为示撒就聚集在耶路撒冷。有先知示玛雅去见罗波安和众首领，对他们说：“耶和华如此说：‘你们离弃了我，所以我使你们落在示撒手里。’”Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the leaders of Judah who had gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said to them, “This is what the LORD says: ‘You have forsaken Me; therefore, I have forsaken you into the hand of Shishak.’”

⁶于是王和以色列的众首领都自卑说：“耶和华是公义的。”So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous.”

⁷耶和华见他们自卑，耶和华的话就临到示玛雅说：“他们既自卑，我必不灭绝他们；必使他们略得拯救，我不借着示撒的手将我的怒气倒在耶路撒冷。When the LORD saw that they had humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them, but will soon grant them deliverance. My wrath will not be poured out on Jerusalem through Shishak.

⁸然而他们必作示撒的仆人，好叫他们知道，服事我与服事外邦人有何分别。”Nevertheless, they will become his servants, so that they may learn the difference between serving Me and serving the kings of other lands.”

金盾牌换成铜盾牌

⁹于是，埃及王示撒上来攻取耶路撒冷，夺了耶和华殿和王宫里的宝物，尽都带走，又夺去所罗门制造的金盾牌。So King Shishak of Egypt attacked Jerusalem and seized the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the royal palace. He took everything, including the gold shields that Solomon had made.

¹⁰罗波安王制造铜盾牌代替那金盾牌，交给守王宫门的护卫长看守。Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place and committed them to the care of the captains of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.

¹¹王每逢进耶和华的殿，护卫兵就拿这盾牌，随后仍将盾牌送回，放在护卫房。And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards would go with him, bearing the shields, and later they would return them to the guardroom.

¹²王自卑的时候，耶和华的怒气就转消了，不将他灭尽，并且在犹大中间也有善益的事。Because Rehoboam humbled himself, the anger of the LORD turned away from him, and He did not destroy him completely. Indeed, conditions were good in Judah.

罗波安的一生

¹³罗波安王自强，在耶路撒冷作王。他登基的时候年四十一岁，在耶路撒冷，就是耶和华从以色列众支派中所选择立他名的城，作王十七年。罗波安的母亲名叫拿玛，是亚扪人。Thus King Rehoboam established himself in Jerusalem and reigned. He was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD had chosen from all the tribes of Israel in which to put His Name. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonite.

¹⁴罗波安行恶，因他不立定心意寻求耶和华。And Rehoboam did evil because he did not set his heart to seek the LORD.

众人咬牙切齿

⁵⁴众人听见这话就极其恼怒，向司提反咬牙切齿。On hearing this, the members of the Sanhedrin were enraged, and they gnashed their teeth at him.

看见耶稣站在神的右边

⁵⁵但司提反被圣灵充满，定睛望天，看见　神的荣耀，又看见耶稣站在　神的右边，But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

⁵⁶就说：“我看见天开了，人子站在　神的右边。”“Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

司提反被石头打死

⁵⁷众人大声喊叫，捂着耳朵，齐心拥上前去，At this they covered their ears, cried out in a loud voice, and rushed together at him.

⁵⁸把他推到城外，用石头打他。作见证的人把衣裳放在一个少年人名叫扫罗的脚前。They dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile the witnesses laid their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

⁵⁹他们正用石头打的时候，司提反呼吁主说：“求主耶稣接收我的灵魂！”While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

⁶⁰又跪下大声喊着说：“主啊，不要将这罪归于他们！”说了这话，就睡了。扫罗也喜悦他被害。Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

教会大遭逼迫

¹从这日起，耶路撒冷的教会大遭逼迫，除了使徒以外，门徒都分散在犹太和撒马利亚各处。And Saul was there, giving approval to Stephen’s death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

²有虔诚的人把司提反埋葬了，为他捶胸大哭。God-fearing men buried Stephen and mourned deeply over him.

扫罗残害教会

³扫罗却残害教会，进各人的家，拉着男女下在监里。But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off men and women and put them in prison.
