利未人要求城邑

¹那时，利未人的众族长来到祭司以利亚撒和嫩的儿子约书亚，并以色列各支派的族长面前，Now the family heads of the Levites approached Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the other tribes of Israel

²在迦南地的示罗对他们说：“从前耶和华借着摩西吩咐给我们城邑居住，并城邑的郊野可以牧养我们的牲畜。”at Shiloh in the land of Canaan and said to them, “The LORD commanded through Moses that we be given cities in which to live, together with pasturelands for our livestock.”

³于是以色列人照耶和华所吩咐的，从自己的地业中，将以下所记的城邑和城邑的郊野给了利未人。So by the command of the LORD, the Israelites gave the Levites these cities and their pasturelands out of their own inheritance:

为利未各族拈阄

⁴为哥辖族拈阄：利未人的祭司、亚伦的子孙，从犹大支派、西缅支派、便雅悯支派的地业中，按阄得了十三座城。The first lot came out for the Kohathite clans. The Levites who were descendants of Aaron the priest received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.

⁵哥辖其余的子孙，从以法莲支派、但支派、玛拿西半支派的地业中，按阄得了十座城。The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten cities by lot from the tribes of Ephraim, Dan, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

⁶革顺的子孙，从以萨迦支派、亚设支派、拿弗他利支派、住巴珊的玛拿西半支派的地业中，按阄得了十三座城。The descendants of Gershon received thirteen cities by lot from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.

⁷米拉利的子孙，按着宗族，从流便支派、迦得支派、西布伦支派的地业中，按阄得了十二座城。And the descendants of Merari received twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

⁸以色列人照着耶和华借摩西所吩咐的，将这些城邑和城邑的郊野，按阄分给利未人。So the Israelites allotted to the Levites these cities, together with their pasturelands, as the LORD had commanded through Moses.

亚伦子孙的城

^9–10从犹大支派、西缅支派的地业中，将以下所记的城给了利未支派哥辖宗族亚伦的子孙；因为给他们拈出头一阄，From the tribes of Judah and Simeon, they designated these cities by name to the descendants of Aaron from the Kohathite clans of the Levites, because the first lot fell to them:

¹¹将犹大山地的基列·亚巴和四围的郊野给了他们。亚巴是亚衲族的始祖。（基列·亚巴就是希伯仑）。They gave them Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), with its surrounding pasturelands, in the hill country of Judah. (Arba was the father of Anak.)

¹²惟将属城的田地和村庄给了耶孚尼的儿子迦勒为业。But they had given the fields and villages around the city to Caleb son of Jephunneh as his possession.

¹³以色列人将希伯仑，就是误杀人的逃城和属城的郊野，给了祭司亚伦的子孙；又给他们立拿和属城的郊野，So to the descendants of Aaron the priest they gave these cities, together with their pasturelands: Hebron, a city of refuge for the manslayer, Libnah,

¹⁴雅提珥和属城的郊野，以实提莫和属城的郊野，Jattir, Eshtemoa,

¹⁵何仑和属城的郊野，底璧和属城的郊野，Holon, Debir,

¹⁶亚因和属城的郊野，淤他和属城的郊野，伯·示麦和属城的郊野，共九座城，都是从这二支派中分出来的。Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh—nine cities from these two tribes, together with their pasturelands.

²²基伯先和属城的郊野，伯·和仑和属城的郊野，共四座城；Kibzaim, and Beth-horon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

²³又从但支派的地业中给了他们伊利提基和属城的郊野，基比顿和属城的郊野，From the tribe of Dan they were given Elteke, Gibbethon,

²⁴亚雅仑和属城的郊野，迦特·临门和属城的郊野，共四座城；Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

²⁵又从玛拿西半支派的地业中给了他们他纳和属城的郊野，迦特·临门和属城的郊野，共两座城。And from the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Taanach and Gath-rimmon—two cities, together with their pasturelands.

²⁶哥辖其余的子孙共有十座城，还有属城的郊野。In all, ten cities, together with their pasturelands, were given to the rest of the Kohathite clans.

革顺子孙的城

²⁷以色列人又从玛拿西半支派的地业中将巴珊的哥兰，就是误杀人的逃城和属城的郊野，给了利未支派革顺的子孙；又给他们比·施提拉和属城的郊野，共两座城；This is what the Levite clans of the Gershonites were given: From the half-tribe of Manasseh they were given Golan in Bashan, a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Beeshterah—two cities, together with their pasturelands.

²⁸又从以萨迦支派的地业中给了他们基善和属城的郊野，大比拉和属城的郊野，From the tribe of Issachar they were given Kishion, Daberath,

²⁹耶末和属城的郊野，隐·干宁和属城的郊野，共四座城；Jarmuth, and En-gannim—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

³⁵丁拿和属城的郊野，拿哈拉和属城的郊野，共四座城；Dimnah, and Nahalal—four cities, together with their pasturelands.

³⁶又从流便支派的地业中给了他们比悉和属城的郊野，雅杂和属城的郊野，From the tribe of Reuben they were given Bezer, Jahaz,

⁴⁰其余利未支派的人，就是米拉利的子孙，按着宗族拈阄所得的，共十二座城。In all, twelve cities were allotted to the clans of Merari, the remaining Levite clans.

⁴¹利未人在以色列人的地业中所得的城，共四十八座，并有属城的郊野。For the Levites, then, there were forty-eight cities in all, together with their pasturelands, within the territory of the Israelites.

⁴²这些城四围都有属城的郊野，城城都是如此。Each of these cities had its own surrounding pasturelands; this was true for all the cities.

神的应许都应验了

⁴³这样，耶和华将从前向他们列祖起誓所应许的全地赐给以色列人，他们就得了为业，住在其中。Thus the LORD gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers, and they took possession of it and settled in it.

⁴⁴耶和华照着向他们列祖起誓所应许的一切话，使他们四境平安；他们一切仇敌中，没有一人在他们面前站立得住。耶和华把一切仇敌都交在他们手中。And the LORD gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies could stand against them, for the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

⁴⁵耶和华应许赐福给以色列家的话一句也没有落空，都应验了。Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel had failed; everything was fulfilled.

两个半支派回河东

¹当时，约书亚召了流便人、迦得人，和玛拿西半支派的人来，Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh

²对他们说：“耶和华仆人摩西所吩咐你们的，你们都遵守了；我所吩咐你们的，你们也都听从了。and told them, “You have done all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, and you have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you.

³你们这许多日子，总没有撇离你们的弟兄，直到今日，并守了耶和华—你们　神所吩咐你们当守的。All this time you have not deserted your brothers, up to this very day, but have kept the charge given you by the LORD your God.

⁴如今耶和华—你们　神照着他所应许的，使你们弟兄得享平安，现在可以转回你们的帐棚，到耶和华的仆人摩西在约旦河东所赐你们为业之地。And now that the LORD your God has given your brothers rest as He promised them, you may return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you across the Jordan.

⁵只要切切地谨慎遵行耶和华仆人摩西所吩咐你们的诫命律法，爱耶和华—你们的　神，行他一切的道，守他的诫命，专靠他，尽心尽性事奉他。”But be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

⁶于是约书亚为他们祝福，打发他们去，他们就回自己的帐棚去了。So Joshua blessed them and sent them on their way, and they went to their homes.

⁷玛拿西那半支派，摩西早已在巴珊分给他们地业。这半支派，约书亚在约旦河西，在他们弟兄中，分给他们地业。约书亚打发他们回帐棚的时候为他们祝福，(To the half-tribe of Manasseh Moses had given land in Bashan, and to the other half Joshua gave land on the west side of the Jordan among their brothers.) When Joshua sent them to their homes he blessed them,

⁸对他们说：“你们带许多财物，许多牲畜和金、银、铜、铁，并许多衣服，回你们的帐棚去，要将你们从仇敌夺来的物，与你们众弟兄同分。”saying, “Return to your homes with your great wealth, with immense herds of livestock, with silver, gold, bronze, iron, and very many clothes. Divide with your brothers the spoil of your enemies.”

⁹于是流便人、迦得人、玛拿西半支派的人从迦南地的示罗起行，离开以色列人，回往他们得为业的基列地，就是照耶和华借摩西所吩咐的得了为业之地。So the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh left the Israelites at Shiloh in the land of Canaan to return to their own land of Gilead, which they had acquired according to the command of the LORD through Moses.

在约旦河边筑坛

¹⁰流便人、迦得人，和玛拿西半支派的人到了靠近约旦河的一带迦南地，就在约旦河那里筑了一座坛；那坛看着高大。And when they came to Geliloth near the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh built an imposing altar there by the Jordan.

¹¹以色列人听说流便人、迦得人、玛拿西半支派的人靠近约旦河边，在迦南地属以色列人的那边筑了一座坛。Then the Israelites received the report: “Behold, the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have built an altar on the border of the land of Canaan, at Geliloth near the Jordan on the Israelite side.”

¹²全会众一听见，就聚集在示罗，要上去攻打他们。And when they heard this, the whole congregation of Israel assembled at Shiloh to go to war against them.

非尼哈前去查问

¹³以色列人打发祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，往基列地去见流便人、迦得人、玛拿西半支派的人；The Israelites sent Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest to the land of Gilead, to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

¹⁴又打发十个首领与非尼哈同去，就是以色列每支派的一个首领，都是以色列军中的统领。With him they sent ten chiefs—one family leader from each tribe of Israel, each the head of a family among the clans of Israel.

¹⁵他们到了基列地，见流便人、迦得人，和玛拿西半支派的人，对他们说：They went to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead and said to them,

¹⁶“耶和华全会众这样说，你们今日转去不跟从耶和华，干犯以色列的　神，为自己筑一座坛，悖逆了耶和华，这犯的是什么罪呢？“This is what the whole congregation of the LORD says: ‘What is this breach of faith you have committed today against the God of Israel by turning away from the LORD and building for yourselves an altar, that you might rebel against the LORD this day?

¹⁷从前拜毗珥的罪孽还算小吗？虽然瘟疫临到耶和华的会众，到今日我们还没有洗净这罪。Was not the sin of Peor enough for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves to this day? It even brought a plague upon the congregation of the LORD.

¹⁸你们今日竟转去不跟从耶和华吗？你们今日既悖逆耶和华，明日他必向以色列全会众发怒。And now, would you turn away from the LORD? If you rebel today against the LORD, tomorrow He will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

¹⁹你们所得为业之地，若嫌不洁净，就可以过到耶和华之地，就是耶和华的帐幕所住之地，在我们中间得地业。只是不可悖逆耶和华，也不可得罪我们，在耶和华—我们　神的坛以外为自己筑坛。If indeed the land of your inheritance is unclean, then cross over to the land of the LORD’s possession, where the LORD’s tabernacle stands, and take possession of it among us. But do not rebel against the LORD or against us by building for yourselves an altar other than the altar of the LORD our God.

²⁰从前谢拉的曾孙亚干岂不是在那当灭的物上犯了罪，就有忿怒临到以色列全会众吗？那人在所犯的罪中不独一人死亡。”Was not Achan son of Zerah unfaithful regarding what was set apart for destruction, bringing wrath upon the whole congregation of Israel? Yet it was not only Achan who perished because of his sin!’”

河东支派的解释

²¹于是流便人、迦得人、玛拿西半支派的人回答以色列军中的统领说：Then the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh answered the leaders of the clans of Israel:

²²“大能者　神耶和华！大能者　神耶和华！他是知道的！以色列人也必知道！我们若有悖逆的意思，或是干犯耶和华（愿你今日不保佑我们），“The LORD, the Mighty One, is God! The LORD, the Mighty One, is God! He knows, and may Israel also know. If this was in rebellion or breach of faith against the LORD, do not spare us today.

²³为自己筑坛，要转去不跟从耶和华，或是要将燔祭、素祭、平安祭献在坛上，愿耶和华亲自讨我们的罪。If we have built for ourselves an altar to turn away from Him and to offer burnt offerings and grain offerings on it, or to sacrifice peace offerings on it, may the LORD Himself hold us accountable.

²⁴我们行这事并非无故，是特意做的，说：恐怕日后你们的子孙对我们的子孙说：‘你们与耶和华—以色列的　神有何关涉呢？But in fact we have done this for fear that in the future your descendants might say to ours, ‘What have you to do with the LORD, the God of Israel?

²⁵因为耶和华把约旦河定为我们和你们这流便人、迦得人的交界，你们与耶和华无分了。’这样，你们的子孙就使我们的子孙不再敬畏耶和华了。For the LORD has made the Jordan a border between us and you Reubenites and Gadites. You have no share in the LORD!’ So your descendants could cause ours to stop fearing the LORD.

²⁶因此我们说：‘不如为自己筑一座坛，不是为献燔祭，也不是为献别的祭，That is why we said, ‘Let us take action and build an altar for ourselves, but not for burnt offerings or sacrifices.

²⁷乃是为你我中间和你我后人中间作证据，好叫我们也在耶和华面前献燔祭、平安祭，和别的祭事奉他，免得你们的子孙日后对我们的子孙说，你们与耶和华无分了。’Rather, let it be a witness between us and you and the generations to come, that we will worship the LORD in His presence with our burnt offerings, sacrifices, and peace offerings.’ Then in the future, your descendants cannot say to ours, ‘You have no share in the LORD!’

²⁸所以我们说：‘日后你们对我们，或对我们的后人这样说，我们就可以回答说，你们看我们列祖所筑的坛是耶和华坛的样式；这并不是为献燔祭，也不是为献别的祭，乃是为作你我中间的证据。’Therefore we said, ‘If they ever say this to us or to our descendants, we will answer: Look at the replica of the altar of the LORD that our fathers made, not for burnt offerings or sacrifices, but as a witness between us and you.’

²⁹我们在耶和华—我们　神帐幕前的坛以外，另筑一座坛，为献燔祭、素祭，和别的祭，悖逆耶和华，今日转去不跟从他，我们断没有这个意思。”Far be it from us to rebel against the LORD and turn away from Him today by building an altar for burnt offerings, grain offerings, or sacrifices, other than the altar of the LORD our God, which stands before His tabernacle.”

误会冰释

³⁰祭司非尼哈与会中的首领，就是与他同来以色列军中的统领，听见流便人、迦得人、玛拿西人所说的话，就都以为美。When Phinehas the priest and the chiefs of the congregation—the heads of Israel’s clans who were with him—heard what the descendants of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh had to say, they were satisfied.

³¹祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈对流便人、迦得人、玛拿西人说：“今日我们知道耶和华在我们中间，因为你们没有向他犯了这罪。现在你们救以色列人脱离耶和华的手了。”Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest said to the descendants of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh, “Today we know that the LORD is among us, because you have not committed this breach of faith against Him. Consequently, you have delivered the Israelites from the hand of the LORD.”

³²祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈与众首领离了流便人、迦得人，从基列地回往迦南地，到了以色列人那里，便将这事回报他们。Then Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, together with the other leaders, returned to the Israelites in the land of Canaan and brought back a report regarding the Reubenites and Gadites in the land of Gilead.

³³以色列人以这事为美，就称颂　神，不再提上去攻打流便人、迦得人、毁坏他们所住的地了。The Israelites were satisfied with the report, and they blessed God and spoke no more about going to war against them to destroy the land where the Reubenites and Gadites lived.

³⁴流便人、迦得人给坛起名叫证坛，意思说：这坛在我们中间证明耶和华是　神。So the Reubenites and Gadites named the altar Witness, for they said, “It is a witness between us that the LORD is God.”

怎样承受永生

²⁵有一个律法师起来试探耶稣，说：“夫子！我该做什么才可以承受永生？”One day an expert in the law stood up to test Him. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

²⁶耶稣对他说：“律法上写的是什么？你念的是怎样呢？”“What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied. “How do you read it?”

²⁷他回答说：“你要尽心、尽性、尽力、尽意爱主—你的　神；又要爱邻舍如同自己。”He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

²⁸耶稣说：“你回答的是；你这样行，就必得永生。”“You have answered correctly,” Jesus said. “Do this and you will live.”

谁是我的邻舍

²⁹那人要显明自己有理，就对耶稣说：“谁是我的邻舍呢？”But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

落在强盗手中的人

³⁰耶稣回答说：“有一个人从耶路撒冷下耶利哥去，落在强盗手中。他们剥去他的衣裳，把他打个半死，就丢下他走了。Jesus took up this question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.

祭司和利未人

³¹偶然有一个祭司从这条路下来，看见他就从那边过去了。Now by chance a priest was going down the same road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

³²又有一个利未人来到这地方，看见他，也照样从那边过去了。So too, when a Levite came to that spot and saw him, he passed by on the other side.

撒马利亚人动了慈心

³³惟有一个撒马利亚人行路来到那里，看见他就动了慈心，But a Samaritan on a journey came upon him, and when he saw him, he had compassion.

³⁴上前用油和酒倒在他的伤处，包裹好了，扶他骑上自己的牲口，带到店里去照应他。He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

³⁵第二天拿出二钱银子来，交给店主，说：‘你且照应他；此外所费用的，我回来必还你。’The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Take care of him,’ he said, ‘and on my return I will repay you for any additional expense.’

你去照样行吧

³⁶你想，这三个人哪一个是落在强盗手中的邻舍呢？”Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

³⁷他说：“是怜悯他的。”耶稣说：“你去照样行吧。”“The one who showed him mercy,” replied the expert in the law. Then Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
