2若不是耶和華幫助我們，當人起來攻擊我們、if the LORD had not been on our side when men attacked us,
3向我們發怒的時候，就把我們活活地吞了。when their anger flared against us, then they would have swallowed us alive,
4那時，波濤必漫過我們，河水必淹沒我們，then the floods would have engulfed us, then the torrent would have overwhelmed us,
5狂傲的水必淹沒我們。then the raging waters would have swept us away.
6耶和華是應當稱頌的！他沒有把我們當交給他們吞吃（原文是牙齒）。Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
7我們好像雀鳥，從捕鳥人的裡逃脫；網羅破裂，我們逃脫了。We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; the net is torn, and we have slipped away.
8我們得幫助，是在乎倚靠造天地之耶和華的名。Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
