1弟兄們，我還有話說：我們靠著主耶穌求你們，勸你們，你們既然受了我們的教訓，知道該怎樣行可以討 神的喜悅，就要照你們現在所行的更加。Finally, brothers, we ask and encourage you in the Lord Jesus to live in a way that is pleasing to God, just as you have received from us. This is how you already live, so you should do so all the more.
2你們原曉得，我們憑主耶穌傳給你們甚麼命令。For you know the instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
3神的旨意就是要你們成為聖潔，遠避；For it is God’s will that you should be holy: You must abstain from sexual immorality;
4要你們各人曉得怎樣用聖潔、尊貴守著，each of you must know how to control his own body in holiness and honor,
5不放縱私慾的，像那不認識 神的外邦人。not in lustful passion like the Gentiles who do not know God;
6不要一個人在這事上，欺負他的弟兄；因為這一類的事，主必報應，正如我預先對你們說過、又切切囑咐你們的。and no one should ever violate or exploit his brother in this regard, because the Lord will avenge all such acts, as we have already told you and solemnly warned you.
7神召我們，本不是要我們沾染污穢，乃是要我們成為聖潔。For God has not called us to impurity, but to holiness.
8所以，那棄絕的，不是棄絕人，乃是棄絕那賜聖靈給你們的 神。Anyone, then, who rejects this command does not reject man but God, the very One who gives you His Holy Spirit.
9論到弟兄們相愛，不用人寫信給你們；因為你們自己蒙了 神的教訓，叫你們彼此相愛。Now about brotherly love, you do not need anyone to write to you, because you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another.
10你們向馬其頓全地的眾弟兄固然是這樣行，但我勸弟兄們要更加勉勵。And you are indeed showing this love to all the brothers throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, brothers, to excel more and more
11又要立志，辦自己的事，親手做工，正如我們從前所吩咐你們的，and to aspire to live quietly, to attend to your own matters, and to work with your own hands, as we instructed you.
12叫你們可以向外人行事，自己也就沒有甚麼缺乏了。Then you will behave properly toward outsiders, without being dependent on anyone.
13論到，我們不願意弟兄們不知道，恐怕你們憂傷，像那些沒有指望的人一樣。Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope.
14我們若信耶穌死而復活了，那已經在耶穌裡睡了的人， 神也必將他們與耶穌一同帶來。For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
15我們現在照主的話告訴你們一件事：我們這活著還到主的人，斷不能在那已經睡了的人之先。By the word of the Lord, we declare to you that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep.
16因為主必親自從天降臨，有呼叫的聲音和的聲音，又有 吹響；那在基督裡死了的人必先復活。For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will be the first to rise.
17以後我們這活著還存留的人必和他們一同到雲裡，在空中與主。這樣，我們就要和主永遠同在。After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.
18所以，你們當用這些話彼此勸慰。Therefore encourage one another with these words.
