烏西雅作王

¹猶大眾民立亞瑪謝的兒子烏西雅（又名亞撒利雅）接續他父作王，那時他年十六歲。All the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

²（亞瑪謝與他列祖同睡之後，烏西雅收回以祿仍歸猶大，又重新修理。）Uzziah was the one who rebuilt Eloth and restored it to Judah after King Amaziah rested with his fathers.

³烏西雅登基的時候年十六歲，在耶路撒冷作王五十二年。他母親名叫耶可利雅，是耶路撒冷人。Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother’s name was Jecoliah; she was from Jerusalem.

⁴烏西雅行耶和華眼中看為正的事，效法他父亞瑪謝一切所行的；And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done.

⁵通曉　神默示，撒迦利亞在世的時候，烏西雅定意尋求　神；他尋求耶和華，　神就使他亨通。He sought God throughout the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. And as long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.

攻擊非利士人

⁶他出去攻擊非利士人，拆毀了迦特城、雅比尼城，和亞實突城；在非利士人中，在亞實突境內，又建築了些城。Uzziah went out to wage war against the Philistines, and he tore down the walls of Gath, Jabneh, and Ashdod. Then he built cities near Ashdod and among the Philistines.

⁷神幫助他攻擊非利士人和住在姑珥巴力的阿拉伯人，並米烏尼人。God helped him against the Philistines, against the Arabs living in Gur-baal, and against the Meunites.

⁸亞捫人給烏西雅進貢。他的名聲傳到埃及，因他甚是強盛。The Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread as far as the border of Egypt, for he had become exceedingly powerful.

建城樓、挖井、喜愛農事

⁹烏西雅在耶路撒冷的角門和谷門，並城牆轉彎之處，建築城樓，且甚堅固；Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and the angle in the wall, and he fortified them.

¹⁰又在曠野與高原和平原，建築望樓，挖了許多井，因他的牲畜甚多；又在山地和佳美之地，有農夫和修理葡萄園的人，因為他喜悅農事。Since he had much livestock in the foothills and in the plain, he built towers in the desert and dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill country and in the fertile fields.

軍隊與兵器

¹¹烏西雅又有軍兵，照書記耶利和官長瑪西雅所數點的，在王的一個將軍哈拿尼雅手下，分隊出戰。Uzziah had an army ready for battle that went out to war by assigned divisions, as recorded by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer under the direction of Hananiah, one of the royal officers.

¹²族長、大能勇士的總數共有二千六百人，The total number of family leaders of the mighty men of valor was 2,600.

¹³他們手下的軍兵共有三十萬七千五百人，都有大能，善於爭戰，幫助王攻擊仇敵。Under their authority was an army of 307,500 trained for war, a powerful force to support the king against his enemies.

¹⁴烏西雅為全軍預備盾牌、槍、盔、甲、弓，和甩石的機弦，Uzziah supplied the entire army with shields, spears, helmets, armor, bows, and slingstones.

¹⁵又在耶路撒冷使巧匠做機器，安在城樓和角樓上，用以射箭發石。烏西雅的名聲傳到遠方；因為他得了非常的幫助，甚是強盛。And in Jerusalem he made skillfully designed devices to shoot arrows and catapult large stones from the towers and corners. So his fame spread far and wide, for he was helped tremendously until he became powerful.

心高氣傲，進殿燒香

¹⁶他既強盛，就心高氣傲，以致行事邪僻，干犯耶和華─他的　神，進耶和華的殿，要在香壇上燒香。But when Uzziah became powerful, his arrogance led to his own destruction. He was unfaithful to the LORD his God, for he entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.

¹⁷祭司亞撒利雅率領耶和華勇敢的祭司八十人，跟隨他進去。Then Azariah the priest, along with eighty brave priests of the LORD, went in after him.

¹⁸他們就阻擋烏西雅王，對他說：「烏西雅啊，給耶和華燒香不是你的事，乃是亞倫子孫承接聖職祭司的事。你出聖殿吧！因為你犯了罪。你行這事，耶和華　神必不使你得榮耀。」They took their stand against King Uzziah and said, “Uzziah, you have no right to offer incense to the LORD. Only the priests, the descendants of Aaron, are consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have acted unfaithfully; you will not receive honor from the LORD God.”

額上發出大痲瘋

¹⁹烏西雅就發怒，手拿香爐要燒香。他向祭司發怒的時候，在耶和華殿中香壇旁眾祭司面前，額上忽然發出大痲瘋。Uzziah, with a censer in his hand to offer incense, was enraged. But while he raged against the priests in their presence in the house of the LORD before the altar of incense, leprosy broke out on his forehead.

²⁰大祭司亞撒利雅和眾祭司觀看，見他額上發出大痲瘋，就催他出殿；他自己也急速出去，因為耶和華降災與他。When Azariah the chief priest and all the priests turned to him and saw his leprous forehead, they rushed him out. Indeed, he himself hurried to get out, because the LORD had afflicted him.

²¹烏西雅王長大痲瘋直到死日，因此住在別的宮裡，與耶和華的殿隔絕。他兒子約坦管理家事，治理國民。So King Uzziah was a leper until the day of his death. He lived in isolation, leprous and cut off from the house of the LORD, while his son Jotham had charge of the royal palace and governed the people of the land.

²²烏西雅其餘的事，自始至終都是亞摩斯的兒子先知以賽亞所記的。As for the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from beginning to end, they are recorded by the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz.

²³烏西雅與他列祖同睡，葬在王陵的田間他列祖的墳地裡；因為人說，他是長大痲瘋的。他兒子約坦接續他作王。And Uzziah rested with his fathers and was buried near them in a field of burial that belonged to the kings, for the people said, “He was a leper.” And his son Jotham reigned in his place.

約坦行正道

¹約坦登基的時候年二十五歲，在耶路撒冷作王十六年，他母親名叫耶路沙，是撒督的女兒。Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. His mother’s name was Jerushah daughter of Zadok.

²約坦行耶和華眼中看為正的事，效法他父烏西雅一切所行的，只是不入耶和華的殿。百姓還行邪僻的事。And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Uzziah had done. In addition, he did not enter the temple of the LORD. But the people still behaved corruptly.

³約坦建立耶和華殿的上門，在俄斐勒城上多有建造，Jotham rebuilt the Upper Gate of the house of the LORD, and he worked extensively on the wall at the hill of Ophel.

⁴又在猶大山地建造城邑，在樹林中建築營寨和高樓。He also built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.

⁵約坦與亞捫人的王打仗勝了他們，當年他們進貢銀一百他連得，小麥一萬歌珥，大麥一萬歌珥；第二年、第三年也是這樣。Jotham waged war against the king of the Ammonites and defeated them, and that year they gave him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand cors of wheat, and ten thousand cors of barley. They paid him the same in the second and third years.

⁶約坦在耶和華─他　神面前行正道，以致日漸強盛。So Jotham grew powerful because he ordered his ways before the LORD his God.

⁷約坦其餘的事和一切爭戰，並他的行為，都寫在以色列和猶大列王記上。As for the rest of the acts of Jotham, along with all his wars and his ways, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.

⁸他登基的時候年二十五歲，在耶路撒冷作王十六年。He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years.

⁹約坦與他列祖同睡，葬在大衛城裡。他兒子亞哈斯接續他作王。And Jotham rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Ahaz reigned in his place.

亞哈斯行惡

¹亞哈斯登基的時候年二十歲，在耶路撒冷作王十六年；不像他祖大衛行耶和華眼中看為正的事，Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. And unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD.

²卻行以色列諸王的道，又鑄造巴力的像，Instead, he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel and even made cast images of the Baals.

³並且在欣嫩子谷燒香，用火焚燒他的兒女，行耶和華在以色列人面前所驅逐的外邦人那可憎的事；Moreover, Ahaz burned incense in the Valley of Ben-hinnom and sacrificed his sons in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites.

⁴並在邱壇上、山岡上、各青翠樹下獻祭燒香。And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.

被亞蘭和以色列打敗

⁵所以，耶和華─他的　神將他交在亞蘭王手裡。亞蘭王打敗他，擄了他許多的民，帶到大馬士革去。　神又將他交在以色列王手裡，以色列王向他大行殺戮。So the LORD his God delivered Ahaz into the hand of the king of Aram, who attacked him and took many captives to Damascus. Ahaz was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with great force.

⁶利瑪利的兒子比加一日殺了猶大人十二萬，都是勇士，因為他們離棄了耶和華─他們列祖的　神。For in one day Pekah son of Remaliah killed 120,000 valiant men in Judah. This happened because they had forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers.

⁷有一個以法蓮中的勇士，名叫細基利，殺了王的兒子瑪西雅和管理王宮的押斯利甘，並宰相以利加拿。Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, killed Maaseiah the son of the king, Azrikam the governor of the palace, and Elkanah the second to the king.

⁸以色列人擄了他們的弟兄，連婦人帶兒女共有二十萬，又掠了許多的財物，帶到撒馬利亞去了。Then the Israelites took 200,000 captives from their kinsmen—women, sons, and daughters. They also carried off a great deal of plunder and brought it to Samaria.

先知俄德勸以色列釋放俘虜

⁹但那裡有耶和華的一個先知，名叫俄德，出來迎接往撒馬利亞去的軍兵，對他們說：「因為耶和華─你們列祖的　神惱怒猶大人，所以將他們交在你們手裡，你們竟怒氣沖天，大行殺戮。But a prophet of the LORD named Oded was there, and he went out to meet the army that returned to Samaria. “Look,” he said to them, “because of His wrath against Judah, the LORD, the God of your fathers, has delivered them into your hand. But you have slaughtered them in a rage that reaches up to heaven.

¹⁰如今你們又有意強逼猶大人和耶路撒冷人作你們的奴婢，你們豈不也有得罪耶和華─你們　神的事嗎？And now you intend to reduce to slavery the men and women of Judah and Jerusalem. But are you not also guilty before the LORD your God?

¹¹現在你們當聽我說，要將擄來的弟兄釋放回去，因為耶和華向你們已經大發烈怒。」Now therefore, listen to me and return the captives you took from your kinsmen, for the fierce anger of the LORD is upon you.”

¹²於是，以法蓮人的幾個族長─就是約哈難的兒子亞撒利雅、米實利末的兒子比利家、沙龍的兒子耶希西家、哈得萊的兒子亞瑪撒─起來攔擋出兵回來的人，Then some of the leaders of the Ephraimites—Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai—stood in opposition to those arriving from the war.

¹³對他們說：「你們不可帶進這被擄的人來！你們想要使我們得罪耶和華，加增我們的罪惡過犯？因為我們的罪過甚大，已經有烈怒臨到以色列人了。」“You must not bring the captives here,” they said, “for you are proposing to bring guilt upon us from the LORD and to add to our sins and our guilt. For our guilt is great, and fierce anger is upon Israel.”

¹⁴於是帶兵器的人將擄來的人口和掠來的財物都留在眾首領和會眾的面前。So the armed men left the captives and the plunder before the leaders and all the assembly.

¹⁵以上提名的那些人就站起，使被擄的人前來；其中有赤身的，就從所掠的財物中拿出衣服和鞋來，給他們穿，又給他們吃喝，用膏抹他們；其中有軟弱的，就使他們騎驢，送到棕樹城耶利哥他們弟兄那裡；隨後就回撒馬利亞去了。Then the men who were designated by name arose, took charge of the captives, and provided from the plunder clothing for the naked. They clothed them, gave them sandals and food and drink, anointed their wounds, and put all the feeble on donkeys. So they brought them to Jericho, the City of Palms, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.

求亞述幫助反被欺凌

¹⁶那時，亞哈斯王差遣人去見亞述諸王，求他們幫助；At that time King Ahaz sent for help from the king of Assyria.

¹⁷因為以東人又來攻擊猶大，擄掠子民。The Edomites had again come and attacked Judah and carried away captives.

¹⁸非利士人也來侵佔高原和猶大南方的城邑，取了伯‧示麥、亞雅崙、基低羅，梭哥和屬梭哥的鄉村，亭納和屬亭納的鄉村，瑾鎖和屬瑾鎖的鄉村，就住在那裡。The Philistines had also raided the cities of the foothills and the Negev of Judah, capturing and occupying Beth-shemesh, Aijalon, and Gederoth, as well as Soco, Timnah, and Gimzo with their villages.

¹⁹因為以色列王亞哈斯在猶大放肆，大大干犯耶和華，所以耶和華使猶大卑微。For the LORD humbled Judah because Ahaz king of Israel had thrown off restraint in Judah and had been most unfaithful to the LORD.

²⁰亞述王提革拉‧毘列色上來，卻沒有幫助他，反倒欺凌他。Then Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria came to Ahaz but afflicted him rather than strengthening him.

²¹亞哈斯從耶和華殿裡和王宮中，並首領家內所取的財寶給了亞述王，這也無濟於事。Although Ahaz had taken a portion from the house of the LORD, from the royal palace, and from the princes and had presented it to the king of Assyria, it did not help him.

越發得罪神

²²這亞哈斯王在急難的時候，越發得罪耶和華。In the time of his distress, King Ahaz became even more unfaithful to the LORD.

²³他祭祀攻擊他的大馬士革之神，說：「因為亞蘭王的神幫助他們，我也獻祭與他，他好幫助我。」但那些神使他和以色列眾人敗亡了。He sacrificed to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him, and he said, “Because the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But these gods were the downfall of Ahaz and of all Israel.

²⁴亞哈斯將　神殿裡的器皿都聚了來，毀壞了，且封鎖耶和華殿的門；在耶路撒冷各處的拐角建築祭壇，Then Ahaz gathered up the articles of the house of God, cut them into pieces, shut the doors of the house of the LORD, and set up altars of his own on every street corner in Jerusalem.

²⁵又在猶大各城建立邱壇，與別神燒香，惹動耶和華─他列祖　神的怒氣。In every city of Judah he built high places to offer incense to other gods, and so he provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers.

²⁶亞哈斯其餘的事和他的行為，自始至終都寫在猶大和以色列諸王記上。As for the rest of the acts of Ahaz and all his ways, from beginning to end, they are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

²⁷亞哈斯與他列祖同睡，葬在耶路撒冷城裡，沒有送入以色列諸王的墳墓中。他兒子希西家接續他作王。And Ahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in the city of Jerusalem, but he was not placed in the tombs of the kings of Israel. And his son Hezekiah reigned in his place.

哥尼流的人找到彼得

¹⁷彼得心裡正在猜疑之間，不知所看見的異象是甚麼意思。哥尼流所差來的人已經訪問到西門的家，站在門外，While Peter was puzzling over the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house and approached the gate.

¹⁸喊著問：「有稱呼彼得的西門住在這裡沒有？」They called out to ask if Simon called Peter was staying there.

¹⁹彼得還思想那異象的時候，聖靈向他說：「有三個人來找你。As Peter continued to reflect on the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.

²⁰起來，下去，和他們同往，不要疑惑，因為是我差他們來的。」So get up! Go downstairs and accompany them without hesitation, because I have sent them.”

²¹於是彼得下去見那些人，說：「我就是你們所找的人。你們來是為甚麼緣故？」So Peter went down to the men and said, “Here am I, the one you are looking for. Why have you come?”

²²他們說：「百夫長哥尼流是個義人，敬畏　神，為猶太通國所稱讚。他蒙一位聖天使指示，叫他請你到他家裡去，聽你的話。」“Cornelius the centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel instructed him to request your presence in his home so he could hear a message from you.”

彼得到哥尼流家

²³彼得就請他們進去，住了一宿。次日，起身和他們同去，還有約帕的幾個弟兄同著他去；So Peter invited them in as his guests. And the next day he got ready and went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.

²⁴又次日，他們進入凱撒利亞，哥尼流已經請了他的親屬密友等候他們。The following day he arrived in Caesarea, where Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

²⁵彼得一進去，哥尼流就迎接他，俯伏在他腳前拜他。As Peter was about to enter, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet to worship him.

²⁶彼得卻拉他，說：「你起來，我也是人。」But Peter helped him up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”

²⁷彼得和他說著話進去，見有好些人在那裡聚集，As Peter talked with him, he went inside and found many people gathered together.

²⁸就對他們說：「你們知道，猶太人和別國的人親近來往本是不合例的，但　神已經指示我，無論甚麼人都不可看作俗而不潔淨的。He said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with a foreigner or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

²⁹所以我被請的時候，就不推辭而來。現在請問：你們叫我來有甚麼意思呢？」So when I was invited, I came without objection. I ask, then, why have you sent for me?”

哥尼流述說異象

³⁰哥尼流說：「前四天，這個時候，我在家中守著申初的禱告，忽然有一個人穿著光明的衣裳，站在我面前，Cornelius answered: “Four days ago I was in my house praying at this, the ninth hour. Suddenly a man in radiant clothing stood before me

³¹說：『哥尼流，你的禱告已蒙垂聽，你的賙濟達到　神面前已蒙記念了。and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been remembered before God.

³²你當打發人往約帕去，請那稱呼彼得的西門來，他住在海邊一個硝皮匠西門的家裡。』Therefore send to Joppa for Simon, who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, by the sea.’

³³所以我立時打發人去請你。你來了很好；現今我們都在　神面前，要聽主所吩咐你的一切話。」So I sent for you immediately, and you were kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has instructed you to tell us.”

神不偏待人

³⁴彼得就開口說：「我真看出　神是不偏待人。Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism,

³⁵原來，各國中那敬畏主、行義的人都為主所悅納。but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

³⁶神藉著耶穌基督（他是萬有的主）傳和平的福音，將這道賜給以色列人。He has sent this message to the people of Israel, proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

³⁷這話在約翰宣傳洗禮以後，從加利利起，傳遍了猶太。You yourselves know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee with the baptism that John proclaimed:

³⁸神怎樣以聖靈和能力膏拿撒勒人耶穌，這都是你們知道的。他周流四方，行善事，醫好凡被魔鬼壓制的人，因為　神與他同在。how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.

我們為這些事作見證

³⁹他在猶太人之地，並耶路撒冷所行的一切事，有我們作見證。他們竟把他掛在木頭上殺了。We are witnesses of all that He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. And although they put Him to death by hanging Him on a tree,

⁴⁰第三日，　神叫他復活，顯現出來；God raised Him up on the third day and caused Him to be seen—

⁴¹不是顯現給眾人看，乃是顯現給　神預先所揀選為他作見證的人看，就是我們這些在他從死裡復活以後和他同吃同喝的人。not by all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen beforehand, by us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.

⁴²他吩咐我們傳道給眾人，證明他是　神所立定的，要作審判活人、死人的主。And He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead.

⁴³眾先知也為他作見證說：『凡信他的人必因他的名得蒙赦罪。』」All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

聖靈降在外邦人身上

⁴⁴彼得還說這話的時候，聖靈降在一切聽道的人身上。While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.

⁴⁵那些奉割禮、和彼得同來的信徒，見聖靈的恩賜也澆在外邦人身上，就都希奇；All the circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

⁴⁶因聽見他們說方言，稱讚　神為大。For they heard them speaking in tongues and exalting God. Then Peter said,

⁴⁷於是彼得說：「這些人既受了聖靈，與我們一樣，誰能禁止用水給他們施洗呢？」“Can anyone withhold the water to baptize these people? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have!”

⁴⁸就吩咐奉耶穌基督的名給他們施洗。他們又請彼得住了幾天。So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
