米甸人欺壓以色列

¹以色列人又行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，耶和華就把他們交在米甸人手裡七年。Again the Israelites did evil in the sight of the LORD; so He delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years,

²米甸人壓制以色列人；以色列人因為米甸人，就在山中挖穴、挖洞、建造營寨。and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in the mountains, caves, and strongholds.

³以色列人每逢撒種之後，米甸人、亞瑪力人，和東方人都上來攻打他們，Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites, and other people of the east would come up and invade them,

⁴對著他們安營，毀壞土產，直到迦薩，沒有給以色列人留下食物，牛、羊、驢也沒有留下；encamping against them as far as Gaza and destroying the produce of the land. They left Israel with no sustenance, neither sheep nor oxen nor donkeys.

⁵因為那些人帶著牲畜帳棚來，像蝗蟲那樣多，人和駱駝無數，都進入國內，毀壞全地。For the Midianites came with their livestock and their tents like a great swarm of locusts. They and their camels were innumerable, and they entered the land to ravage it.

⁶以色列人因米甸人的緣故，極其窮乏，就呼求耶和華。Israel was greatly impoverished by Midian, and the Israelites cried out to the LORD.

⁷以色列人因米甸人的緣故，呼求耶和華，Now when the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian,

⁸耶和華就差遣先知到以色列人那裡，對他們說：「耶和華─以色列的　神如此說：『我曾領你們從埃及上來，出了為奴之家，He sent them a prophet, who told them, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

⁹救你們脫離埃及人的手，並脫離一切欺壓你們之人的手，把他們從你們面前趕出，將他們的地賜給你們』；I delivered you out of the hands of Egypt and all your oppressors. I drove them out before you and gave you their land.

¹⁰又對你們說：『我是耶和華─你們的　神。你們住在亞摩利人的地，不可敬畏他們的　神。你們竟不聽從我的話。』」And I said to you: ‘I am the LORD your God. You must not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell.’ But you did not obey Me.”

耶和華的使者呼召基甸

¹¹耶和華的使者到了俄弗拉，坐在亞比以謝族人約阿施的橡樹下。約阿施的兒子基甸正在酒醡那裡打麥子，為要防備米甸人。Then the angel of the LORD came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to hide it from the Midianites.

¹²耶和華的使者向基甸顯現，對他說：「大能的勇士啊，耶和華與你同在！」And the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon and said, “The LORD is with you, O mighty man of valor.”

¹³基甸說：「主啊，耶和華若與我們同在，我們何致遭遇這一切事呢？我們的列祖不是向我們說『耶和華領我們從埃及上來』嗎？他那樣奇妙的作為在哪裡呢？現在他卻丟棄我們，將我們交在米甸人手裡。」“Please, my Lord,” Gideon replied, “if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all His wonders of which our fathers told us, saying, ‘Has not the LORD brought us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hand of Midian.”

¹⁴耶和華觀看基甸，說：「你靠著你這能力去從米甸人手裡拯救以色列人，不是我差遣你去的嗎？」The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Am I not sending you?”

¹⁵基甸說：「主啊，我有何能拯救以色列人呢？我家在瑪拿西支派中是至貧窮的。我在我父家是至微小的。」“Please, my Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I save Israel? Indeed, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house.”

¹⁶耶和華對他說：「我與你同在，你就必擊打米甸人，如擊打一人一樣。」“Surely I will be with you,” the LORD replied, “and you will strike down all the Midianites as one man.”

¹⁷基甸說：「我若在你眼前蒙恩，求你給我一個證據，使我知道與我說話的就是主。Gideon answered, “If I have found favor in Your sight, give me a sign that it is You speaking with me.

¹⁸求你不要離開這裡，等我歸回將禮物帶來供在你面前。」主說：「我必等你回來。」Please do not depart from this place until I return to You. Let me bring my offering and set it before You.” And the LORD said, “I will stay until you return.”

¹⁹基甸去預備了一隻山羊羔，用一伊法細麵做了無酵餅，將肉放在筐內，把湯盛在壺中，帶到橡樹下，獻在使者面前。So Gideon went in and prepared a young goat and unleavened bread and an ephah of flour. He placed the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot and brought them out to present to Him under the oak.

²⁰神的使者吩咐基甸說：「將肉和無酵餅放在這磐石上，把湯倒出來。」他就這樣行了。And the angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened bread, lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” And Gideon did so.

²¹耶和華的使者伸出手內的杖，杖頭挨了肉和無酵餅，就有火從磐石中出來，燒盡了肉和無酵餅。耶和華的使者也就不見了。Then the angel of the LORD extended the tip of the staff that was in his hand and touched the meat and the unleavened bread. And fire flared from the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. Then the angel of the LORD vanished from his sight.

²²基甸見他是耶和華的使者，就說：「哀哉！主耶和華啊，我不好了，因為我覿面看見耶和華的使者。」When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he said, “Oh no, Lord GOD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”

²³耶和華對他說：「你放心，不要懼怕，你必不致死。」But the LORD said to him, “Peace be with you. Do not be afraid, for you will not die.”

²⁴於是基甸在那裡為耶和華築了一座壇，起名叫「耶和華沙龍」（就是耶和華賜平安的意思）。（這壇在亞比以謝族的俄弗拉直到如今。）So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD Is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

基甸拆毀巴力的壇

²⁵當那夜，耶和華吩咐基甸說：「你取你父親的牛來，就是（或譯：和）那七歲的第二隻牛，並拆毀你父親為巴力所築的壇，砍下壇旁的木偶，On that very night the LORD said to Gideon, “Take your father’s young bull and a second bull seven years old, tear down your father’s altar to Baal, and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.

²⁶在這磐石（原文是保障）上整整齊齊地為耶和華─你的　神築一座壇，將第二隻牛獻為燔祭，用你所砍下的木偶作柴。」Then build a proper altar to the LORD your God on the top of this stronghold. And with the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down, take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering.”

²⁷基甸就從他僕人中挑了十個人，照著耶和華吩咐他的行了。他因怕父家和本城的人，不敢在白晝行這事，就在夜間行了。So Gideon took ten of his servants and did as the LORD had told him. But because he was too afraid of his father’s household and the men of the city, he did it by night rather than in the daytime.

²⁸城裡的人清早起來，見巴力的壇拆毀，壇旁的木偶砍下，第二隻牛獻在新築的壇上，When the men of the city got up in the morning, there was Baal’s altar torn down, with the Asherah pole cut down beside it and the second bull offered up on the newly built altar.

²⁹就彼此說：「這事是誰做的呢？」他們訪查之後，就說：「這是約阿施的兒子基甸做的。」“Who did this?” they said to one another. And after they had investigated thoroughly, they were told, “Gideon son of Joash did it.”

³⁰城裡的人對約阿施說：「將你兒子交出來，好治死他；因為他拆毀了巴力的壇，砍下壇旁的木偶。」Then the men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son. He must die, because he has torn down Baal’s altar and cut down the Asherah pole beside it.”

³¹約阿施回答站著攻擊他的眾人說：「你們是為巴力爭論嗎？你們要救他嗎？誰為他爭論，趁早將誰治死！巴力若果是神，有人拆毀他的壇，讓他為自己爭論吧！」But Joash said to all who stood against him, “Are you contending for Baal? Are you trying to save him? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If Baal is a god, let him contend for himself with the one who has torn down his altar.”

³²所以當日人稱基甸為耶路‧巴力，意思說：「他拆毀巴力的壇，讓巴力與他爭論。」So on that day Gideon was called Jerubbaal, that is to say, “Let Baal contend with him,” because he had torn down Baal’s altar.

米甸聯軍聚集，基甸吹角召兵

³³那時，米甸人、亞瑪力人，和東方人都聚集過河，在耶斯列平原安營。Then all the Midianites, Amalekites, and other people of the east gathered together, crossed over the Jordan, and camped in the Valley of Jezreel.

³⁴耶和華的靈降在基甸身上，他就吹角；亞比以謝族都聚集跟隨他。So the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, who blew the ram’s horn and rallied the Abiezrites behind him.

³⁵他打發人走遍瑪拿西地，瑪拿西人也聚集跟隨他；又打發人去見亞設人、西布倫人、拿弗他利人，他們也都出來與他們會合。Calling them to arms, Gideon sent messengers throughout Manasseh, as well as Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, so that they came up to meet him.

羊毛上的露水

³⁶基甸對　神說：「你若果照著所說的話，藉我手拯救以色列人，Then Gideon said to God, “If You are going to save Israel by my hand, as You have said,

³⁷我就把一團羊毛放在禾場上：若單是羊毛上有露水，別的地方都是乾的，我就知道你必照著所說的話，藉我手拯救以色列人。」then behold, I will place a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. If there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that You are going to save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”

³⁸次日早晨基甸起來，見果然是這樣；將羊毛擠一擠，從羊毛中擰出滿盆的露水來。And that is what happened. When Gideon arose the next morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung out the dew—a bowlful of water.

³⁹基甸又對　神說：「求你不要向我發怒，我再說這一次：讓我將羊毛再試一次。但願羊毛是乾的，別的地方都有露水。」Then Gideon said to God, “Do not be angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me one more test with the fleece. This time let it be dry, and the ground covered with dew.”

⁴⁰這夜　神也如此行：獨羊毛上是乾的，別的地方都有露水。And that night God did so. Only the fleece was dry, and dew covered the ground.

神揀選三百人

¹耶路‧巴力就是基甸，他和一切跟隨的人早晨起來，在哈律泉旁安營。米甸營在他們北邊的平原，靠近摩利岡。Early in the morning Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the men with him camped beside the spring of Harod. And the camp of Midian was north of them in the valley near the hill of Moreh.

²耶和華對基甸說：「跟隨你的人過多，我不能將米甸人交在他們手中，免得以色列人向我誇大，說：『是我們自己的手救了我們。』Then the LORD said to Gideon, “You have too many men for Me to deliver Midian into their hands, lest Israel glorify themselves over Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’

³現在你要向這些人宣告說：『凡懼怕膽怯的，可以離開基列山回去。』」於是有二萬二千人回去，只剩下一萬。Now, therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the men: ‘Whoever is fearful and trembling may turn back and leave Mount Gilead.’” So twenty-two thousand of them turned back, but ten thousand remained.

⁴耶和華對基甸說：「人還是過多；你要帶他們下到水旁，我好在那裡為你試試他們。我指點誰說：『這人可以同你去』，他就可以同你去；我指點誰說：『這人不可同你去』，他就不可同你去。」Then the LORD said to Gideon, “There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will sift them for you there. If I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go. But if I say, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”

⁵基甸就帶他們下到水旁。耶和華對基甸說：「凡用舌頭舔水，像狗舔的，要使他單站在一處；凡跪下喝水的，也要使他單站在一處。」So Gideon brought the men down to the water, and the LORD said to him, “Separate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel to drink.”

⁶於是用手捧著舔水的有三百人，其餘的都跪下喝水。And the number of those who lapped the water with their hands to their mouths was three hundred men; all the others knelt to drink.

⁷耶和華對基甸說：「我要用這舔水的三百人拯救你們，將米甸人交在你手中；其餘的人都可以各歸各處去。」Then the LORD said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men who lapped the water I will save you and deliver the Midianites into your hand. But all the others are to go home.”

⁸這三百人就帶著食物和角；其餘的以色列人，基甸都打發他們各歸各的帳棚，只留下這三百人。米甸營在他下邊的平原裡。So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred men, who took charge of the provisions and rams’ horns of the others. And the camp of Midian lay below him in the valley.

大麥餅的夢

⁹當那夜，耶和華吩咐基甸說：「起來，下到米甸營裡去，因我已將他們交在你手中。That night the LORD said to Gideon, “Get up and go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.

¹⁰倘若你怕下去，就帶你的僕人普拉下到那營裡去。But if you are afraid to do so, then go down to the camp with your servant Purah

¹¹你必聽見他們所說的，然後你就有膽量下去攻營。」於是基甸帶著僕人普拉下到營旁。and listen to what they are saying. Then your hands will be strengthened to attack the camp.” So he went with Purah his servant to the outposts where armed men were guarding the camp.

¹²米甸人、亞瑪力人，和一切東方人都布散在平原，如同蝗蟲那樣多。他們的駱駝無數，多如海邊的沙。Now the Midianites, Amalekites, and all the other people of the east had settled in the valley like a swarm of locusts, and their camels were as countless as the sand on the seashore.

¹³基甸到了，就聽見一人將夢告訴同伴說：「我做了一夢，夢見一個大麥餅滾入米甸營中，到了帳幕，將帳幕撞倒，帳幕就翻轉傾覆了。」And as Gideon arrived, a man was telling his friend about a dream. “Behold, I had a dream,” he said, “and I saw a loaf of barley bread come tumbling into the Midianite camp. It struck the tent so hard that the tent overturned and collapsed.”

¹⁴那同伴說：「這不是別的，乃是以色列人約阿施的兒子基甸的刀；　神已將米甸和全軍都交在他的手中。」His friend replied: “This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has delivered Midian and the whole camp into his hand.”

¹⁵基甸聽見這夢和夢的講解，就敬拜　神，回到以色列營中，說：「起來吧！耶和華已將米甸的軍隊交在你們手中了。」When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Get up, for the LORD has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand.”

角、瓶和火把

¹⁶於是基甸將三百人分作三隊，把角和空瓶交在各人手裡（瓶內都藏著火把），And he divided the three hundred men into three companies and gave each man a ram’s horn in one hand and a large jar in the other, containing a torch.

¹⁷吩咐他們說：「你們要看我行事：我到了營的旁邊怎樣行，你們也要怎樣行。“Watch me and do as I do,” Gideon said. “When I come to the outskirts of the camp, do exactly as I do.

¹⁸我和一切跟隨我的人吹角的時候，你們也要在營的四圍吹角，喊叫說：『耶和華和基甸的刀！』」When I and all who are with me blow our horns, then you are also to blow your horns from all around the camp and shout, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon!’”

¹⁹基甸和跟隨他的一百人，在三更之初才換更的時候，來到營旁，就吹角，打破手中的瓶。Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the outskirts of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just after the changing of the guard. They blew their horns and broke the jars that were in their hands.

²⁰三隊的人就都吹角，打破瓶子，左手拿著火把，右手拿著角，喊叫說：「耶和華和基甸的刀！」The three companies blew their horns and shattered their jars. Holding the torches in their left hands and the horns in their right hands, they shouted, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”

²¹他們在營的四圍各站各的地方；全營的人都亂竄。三百人吶喊，使他們逃跑。Each Israelite took his position around the camp, and the entire Midianite army fled, crying out as they ran.

²²三百人就吹角，耶和華使全營的人用刀互相擊殺，逃到西利拉的伯‧哈示他，直逃到靠近他巴的亞伯‧米何拉。And when the three hundred rams’ horns sounded, the LORD set all the men in the camp against one another with their swords. The army fled to Beth-shittah toward Zererah as far as the border of Abel-meholah near Tabbath.

²³以色列人就從拿弗他利、亞設，和瑪拿西全地聚集來追趕米甸人。Then the men of Israel were called out from Naphtali, Asher, and all Manasseh, and they pursued the Midianites.

以法蓮人捉住米甸首領

²⁴基甸打發人走遍以法蓮山地，說：「你們下來攻擊米甸人，爭先把守約旦河的渡口，直到伯‧巴拉。」於是以法蓮的眾人聚集，把守約旦河的渡口，直到伯‧巴拉，Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim to say, “Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan ahead of them as far as Beth-barah.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters of the Jordan as far as Beth-barah.

²⁵捉住了米甸人的兩個首領：一名俄立，一名西伊伯；將俄立殺在俄立磐石上，將西伊伯殺在西伊伯酒醡那裡；又追趕米甸人，將俄立和西伊伯的首級帶過約旦河，到基甸那裡。They also captured Oreb and Zeeb, the two princes of Midian; and they killed Oreb at the rock of Oreb and Zeeb at the winepress of Zeeb. So they pursued the Midianites and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side of the Jordan.

平息以法蓮人的怒氣

¹以法蓮人對基甸說：「你去與米甸人爭戰，沒有招我們同去，為甚麼這樣待我們呢？」他們就與基甸大大地爭吵。Then the men of Ephraim said to Gideon, “Why have you done this to us? Why did you fail to call us when you went to fight against Midian?” And they contended with him violently.

²基甸對他們說：「我所行的豈能比你們所行的呢？以法蓮拾取剩下的葡萄不強過亞比以謝所摘的葡萄嗎？But Gideon answered them, “Now what have I accomplished compared to you? Are not the gleanings of Ephraim better than the grape harvest of Abiezer?

³神已將米甸人的兩個首領俄立和西伊伯交在你們手中；我所行的豈能比你們所行的呢？」基甸說了這話，以法蓮人的怒氣就消了。God has delivered Oreb and Zeeb, the two princes of Midian, into your hand. What was I able to do compared to you?” When he had said this, their anger against him subsided.

疏割和毘努伊勒拒絕供餅

⁴基甸和跟隨他的三百人到約旦河過渡，雖然疲乏，還是追趕。Then Gideon and his three hundred men came to the Jordan and crossed it, exhausted yet still in pursuit.

⁵基甸對疏割人說：「求你們拿餅來給跟隨我的人吃，因為他們疲乏了；我們追趕米甸人的兩個王西巴和撒慕拿。」So Gideon said to the men of Succoth, “Please give my troops some bread, for they are exhausted, and I am still pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, the kings of Midian.”

⁶疏割人的首領回答說：「西巴和撒慕拿已經在你手裡，你使我們將餅給你的軍兵嗎？」But the leaders of Succoth asked, “Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your possession, that we should give bread to your army?”

⁷基甸說：「耶和華將西巴和撒慕拿交在我手之後，我就用野地的荊條和枳棘打傷你們。」“Very well,” Gideon replied, “when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, I will tear your flesh with the thorns and briers of the wilderness!”

⁸基甸從那裡上到毘努伊勒，對那裡的人也是這樣說；毘努伊勒人也與疏割人回答他的話一樣。From there he went up to Penuel and asked the same from them, but the men of Penuel gave the same response as the men of Succoth.

⁹他向毘努伊勒人說：「我平平安安回來的時候，我必拆毀這樓。」So Gideon told the men of Penuel, “When I return in triumph, I will tear down this tower!”

¹⁰那時西巴和撒慕拿，並跟隨他們的軍隊都在加各，約有一萬五千人，就是東方人全軍所剩下的；已經被殺約有十二萬拿刀的。Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army of about fifteen thousand men—all that were left of the armies of the people of the east. A hundred and twenty thousand swordsmen had already fallen.

¹¹基甸就由挪巴和約比哈東邊，從住帳棚人的路上去，殺敗了米甸人的軍兵，因為他們坦然無懼。And Gideon went up by way of the caravan route east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and he attacked their army, taking them by surprise.

¹²西巴和撒慕拿逃跑；基甸追趕他們，捉住米甸的二王西巴和撒慕拿，驚散全軍。When Zebah and Zalmunna fled, Gideon pursued and captured these two kings of Midian, routing their entire army.

¹³約阿施的兒子基甸由希列斯坡從陣上回來，After this, Gideon son of Joash returned from the battle along the Ascent of Heres.

¹⁴捉住疏割的一個少年人，問他：「疏割的首領長老是誰？」他就將首領長老七十七個人的名字寫出來。There he captured a young man of Succoth and interrogated him. The young man wrote down for him the names of the seventy-seven leaders and elders of Succoth.

¹⁵基甸到了疏割，對那裡的人說：「你們從前譏誚我說：『西巴和撒慕拿已經在你手裡，你使我們將餅給跟隨你的疲乏人嗎？』現在西巴和撒慕拿在這裡。」And Gideon went to the men of Succoth and said, “Here are Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you taunted me, saying, ‘Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna already in your possession, that we should give bread to your weary men?’”

¹⁶於是捉住那城內的長老，用野地的荊條和枳棘責打（原文是指教）疏割人；Then he took the elders of the city, and using the thorns and briers of the wilderness, he disciplined the men of Succoth.

¹⁷又拆了毘努伊勒的樓，殺了那城裡的人。He also pulled down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

殺了西巴和撒慕拿

¹⁸基甸問西巴和撒慕拿說：「你們在他泊山所殺的人是甚麼樣式？」回答說：「他們好像你，各人都有王子的樣式。」Next, Gideon asked Zebah and Zalmunna, “What kind of men did you kill at Tabor?” “Men like you,” they answered, “each one resembling the son of a king.”

¹⁹基甸說：「他們是我同母的弟兄，我指著永生的耶和華起誓，你們從前若存留他們的性命，我如今就不殺你們了。」“They were my brothers,” Gideon replied, “the sons of my mother! As surely as the LORD lives, if you had let them live, I would not kill you.”

²⁰於是對他的長子益帖說：「你起來殺他們。」但益帖因為是童子，害怕，不敢拔刀。So he said to Jether, his firstborn, “Get up and kill them.” But the young man did not draw his sword; he was fearful because he was still a youth.

²¹西巴和撒慕拿說：「你自己起來殺我們吧！因為人如何，力量也是如何。」基甸就起來，殺了西巴和撒慕拿，奪獲他們駱駝項上戴的月牙圈。Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, “Get up and kill us yourself, for as the man is, so is his strength.” So Gideon got up and killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and he took the crescent ornaments from the necks of their camels.

基甸不作王，卻造了以弗得

²²以色列人對基甸說：「你既救我們脫離米甸人的手，願你和你的兒孫管理我們。」Then the Israelites said to Gideon, “Rule over us—you and your son and grandson—for you have saved us from the hand of Midian.”

²³基甸說：「我不管理你們，我的兒子也不管理你們，惟有耶和華管理你們。」But Gideon replied, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son. The LORD shall rule over you.”

²⁴基甸又對他們說：「我有一件事求你們：請你們各人將所奪的耳環給我。」（原來仇敵是以實瑪利人，都是戴金耳環的。）Then he added, “Let me make a request of you, that each of you give me an earring from his plunder.” (For the enemies had gold earrings because they were Ishmaelites.)

²⁵他們說：「我們情願給你」，就鋪開一件外衣，各人將所奪的耳環丟在其上。“We will give them gladly,” they replied. So they spread out a garment, and each man threw an earring from his plunder onto it.

²⁶基甸所要出來的金耳環重一千七百舍客勒金子。此外還有米甸王所戴的月環、耳墜，和所穿的紫色衣服，並駱駝項上的金鍊子。The weight of the gold earrings he had requested was 1,700 shekels, in addition to the crescent ornaments, the pendants, the purple garments of the kings of Midian, and the chains from the necks of their camels.

²⁷基甸以此製造了一個以弗得，設立在本城俄弗拉。後來以色列人拜那以弗得行了邪淫；這就作了基甸和他全家的網羅。From all this Gideon made an ephod, which he placed in Ophrah, his hometown. But soon all Israel prostituted themselves by worshiping it there, and it became a snare to Gideon and his household.

²⁸這樣，米甸人被以色列人制伏了，不敢再抬頭。基甸還在的日子，國中太平四十年。In this way Midian was subdued before the Israelites and did not raise its head again. So the land had rest for forty years in the days of Gideon,

基甸的晚年

²⁹約阿施的兒子耶路‧巴力回去，住在自己家裡。and he—Jerubbaal son of Joash—returned home and settled down.

³⁰基甸有七十個親生的兒子，因為他有許多的妻。Gideon had seventy sons of his own, since he had many wives.

³¹他的妾住在示劍，也給他生了一個兒子。基甸與他起名叫亞比米勒。His concubine, who dwelt in Shechem, also bore him a son, and he named him Abimelech.

³²約阿施的兒子基甸，年紀老邁而死，葬在亞比以謝族的俄弗拉，在他父親約阿施的墳墓裡。Later, Gideon son of Joash died at a ripe old age and was buried in the tomb of his father Joash in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

防備假冒為善

¹這時，有幾萬人聚集，甚至彼此踐踏。耶穌開講，先對門徒說：「你們要防備法利賽人的酵，就是假冒為善。In the meantime, a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling one another. Jesus began to speak first to His disciples: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

²掩蓋的事沒有不露出來的；隱藏的事沒有不被人知道的。There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.

³因此，你們在暗中所說的，將要在明處被人聽見；在內室附耳所說的，將要在房上被人宣揚。」What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops.

不要怕人，要敬畏神

⁴「我的朋友，我對你們說，那殺身體以後不能再做甚麼的，不要怕他們。I tell you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

⁵我要指示你們當怕的是誰：當怕那殺了以後又有權柄丟在地獄裡的。我實在告訴你們，正要怕他。But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after you have been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!

⁶五個麻雀不是賣二分銀子嗎？但在　神面前，一個也不忘記；Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.

⁷就是你們的頭髮，也都被數過了。不要懼怕，你們比許多麻雀還貴重！」And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

在人面前認主

⁸「我又告訴你們，凡在人面前認我的，人子在　神的使者面前也必認他；I tell you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God.

⁹在人面前不認我的，人子在　神的使者面前也必不認他。But whoever denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

無知的財主

¹³眾人中有一個人對耶穌說：「夫子！請你吩咐我的兄長和我分開家業。」Someone in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

¹⁴耶穌說：「你這個人！誰立我作你們斷事的官，給你們分家業呢？」But Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed Me judge or executor between you?”

¹⁵於是對眾人說：「你們要謹慎自守，免去一切的貪心，因為人的生命不在乎家道豐富。」And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard yourselves against every form of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

¹⁶就用比喻對他們說：「有一個財主田產豐盛；Then He told them a parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced an abundance.

¹⁷自己心裡思想說：『我的出產沒有地方收藏，怎麼辦呢？』So he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, since I have nowhere to store my crops?’

¹⁸又說：『我要這麼辦：要把我的倉房拆了，另蓋更大的，在那裡好收藏我一切的糧食和財物，Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods.

¹⁹然後要對我的靈魂說：靈魂哪，你有許多財物積存，可作多年的費用，只管安安逸逸地吃喝快樂吧！』Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!”’

²⁰神卻對他說：『無知的人哪，今夜必要你的靈魂；你所預備的要歸誰呢？』But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’

²¹凡為自己積財，在　神面前卻不富足的，也是這樣。」This is how it will be for anyone who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.”

不要為生命憂慮

²²耶穌又對門徒說：「所以我告訴你們，不要為生命憂慮吃甚麼，為身體憂慮穿甚麼；Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.

²³因為生命勝於飲食，身體勝於衣裳。For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.

²⁴你想烏鴉，也不種也不收，又沒有倉又沒有庫，　神尚且養活牠。你們比飛鳥是何等地貴重呢！Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds!

²⁵你們哪一個能用思慮使壽數多加一刻呢（或譯：使身量多加一肘呢）？Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

²⁶這最小的事，你們尚且不能做，為甚麼還憂慮其餘的事呢？So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest?

²⁷你想百合花怎麼長起來；它也不勞苦，也不紡線。然而我告訴你們，就是所羅門極榮華的時候，他所穿戴的，還不如這花一朵呢！Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these.

²⁸你們這小信的人哪，野地裡的草今天還在，明天就丟在爐裡，　神還給它這樣的妝飾，何況你們呢！If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!

²⁹你們不要求吃甚麼，喝甚麼，也不要掛心；And do not be concerned about what you will eat or drink. Do not worry about it.

³⁰這都是外邦人所求的。你們必須用這些東西，你們的父是知道的。For the Gentiles of the world strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.

³¹你們只要求他的國，這些東西就必加給你們了。But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added unto you.

小群不要懼怕，財寶積在天上

³²你們這小群，不要懼怕，因為你們的父樂意把國賜給你們。Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.

³³你們要變賣所有的賙濟人，為自己預備永不壞的錢囊，用不盡的財寶在天上，就是賊不能近、蟲不能蛀的地方。Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.

³⁴因為，你們的財寶在哪裡，你們的心也在那裡。」For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
