出戰時不要懼怕

¹「你出去與仇敵爭戰的時候，看見馬匹、車輛，並有比你多的人民，不要怕他們，因為領你出埃及地的耶和華─你　神與你同在。When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and an army larger than yours, do not be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you.

²你們將要上陣的時候，祭司要到百姓面前宣告When you are about to go into battle, the priest is to come forward and address the army,

³說：『以色列人哪，你們當聽，你們今日將要與仇敵爭戰，不要膽怯，不要懼怕戰兢，也不要因他們驚恐；saying to them, “Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle with your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be alarmed or terrified because of them.

⁴因為耶和華─你們的　神與你們同去，要為你們與仇敵爭戰，拯救你們。』For the LORD your God goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.”

可以回家的人

⁵官長也要對百姓宣告說：『誰建造房屋，尚未奉獻，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去奉獻。Furthermore, the officers are to address the army, saying, “Has any man built a new house and not dedicated it? Let him return home, or he may die in battle and another man dedicate it.

⁶誰種葡萄園，尚未用所結的果子，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去用。Has any man planted a vineyard and not begun to enjoy its fruit? Let him return home, or he may die in battle and another man enjoy its fruit.

⁷誰聘定了妻，尚未迎娶，他可以回家去，恐怕他陣亡，別人去娶。』Has any man become pledged to a woman and not married her? Let him return home, or he may die in battle and another man marry her.”

⁸官長又要對百姓宣告說：『誰懼怕膽怯，他可以回家去，恐怕他弟兄的心消化，和他一樣。』Then the officers shall speak further to the army, saying, “Is any man afraid or fainthearted? Let him return home, so that the hearts of his brothers will not melt like his own.”

⁹官長對百姓宣告完了，就當派軍長率領他們。When the officers have finished addressing the army, they are to appoint commanders to lead it.

攻城前先提和睦

¹⁰「你臨近一座城、要攻打的時候，先要對城裡的民宣告和睦的話。When you approach a city to fight against it, you are to make an offer of peace.

¹¹他們若以和睦的話回答你，給你開了城，城裡所有的人都要給你效勞，服事你；If they accept your offer of peace and open their gates, all the people there will become forced laborers to serve you.

¹²若不肯與你和好，反要與你打仗，你就要圍困那城。But if they refuse to make peace with you and wage war against you, lay siege to that city.

¹³耶和華─你的　神把城交付你手，你就要用刀殺盡這城的男丁。When the LORD your God has delivered it into your hand, you must put every male to the sword.

¹⁴惟有婦女、孩子、牲畜，和城內一切的財物，你可以取為自己的掠物。耶和華─你　神把你仇敵的財物賜給你，你可以吃用。But the women, children, livestock, and whatever else is in the city—all its spoil—you may take as plunder, and you shall use the spoil of your enemies that the LORD your God gives you.

¹⁵離你甚遠的各城，不是這些國民的城，你都要這樣待他。This is how you are to treat all the cities that are far away from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.

迦南諸族要滅盡

¹⁶但這些國民的城，耶和華─你　神既賜你為業，其中凡有氣息的，一個不可存留；However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.

¹⁷只要照耶和華─你　神所吩咐的將這赫人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人都滅絕淨盡，For you must devote them to complete destruction—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—as the LORD your God has commanded you,

¹⁸免得他們教導你們學習一切可憎惡的事，就是他們向自己神所行的，以致你們得罪耶和華─你們的　神。so that they cannot teach you to do all the detestable things they do for their gods, and so cause you to sin against the LORD your God.

圍城時不可砍果樹

¹⁹「你若許久圍困、攻打所要取的一座城，就不可舉斧子砍壞樹木；因為你可以吃那樹上的果子，不可砍伐。田間的樹木豈是人，叫你糟蹋嗎？When you lay siege to a city for an extended time while fighting against it to capture it, you must not destroy its trees by putting an axe to them, because you can eat their fruit. You must not cut them down. Are the trees of the field human, that you should besiege them?

²⁰惟獨你所知道不是結果子的樹木可以毀壞、砍伐，用以修築營壘，攻擊那與你打仗的城，直到攻塌了。」But you may destroy the trees that you know do not produce fruit. Use them to build siege works against the city that is waging war against you, until it falls.

查不出兇手的命案

¹「在耶和華─你　神所賜你為業的地上，若遇見被殺的人倒在田野，不知道是誰殺的，If one is found slain, lying in a field in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him,

²長老和審判官就要出去，從被殺的人那裡量起，直量到四圍的城邑，your elders and judges must come out and measure the distance from the victim to the neighboring cities.

³看哪城離被殺的人最近，那城的長老就要從牛群中取一隻未曾耕地、未曾負軛的母牛犢，Then the elders of the city nearest the victim shall take a heifer that has never been yoked or used for work,

⁴把母牛犢牽到流水、未曾耕種的山谷去，在谷中打折母牛犢的頸項。bring the heifer to a valley with running water that has not been plowed or sown, and break its neck there by the stream.

⁵祭司利未的子孫要近前來；因為耶和華─你的　神揀選了他們事奉他，奉耶和華的名祝福，所有爭訟毆打的事都要憑他們判斷。And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the LORD your God has chosen them to serve Him and pronounce blessings in His name and to give a ruling in every dispute and case of assault.

⁶那城的眾長老，就是離被殺的人最近的，要在那山谷中，在所打折頸項的母牛犢以上洗手，Then all the elders of the city nearest the victim shall wash their hands by the stream over the heifer whose neck has been broken,

⁷禱告（原文是回答）說：『我們的手未曾流這人的血；我們的眼也未曾看見這事。and they shall declare, “Our hands did not shed this blood, nor did our eyes see it.

⁸耶和華啊，求你赦免你所救贖的以色列民，不要使流無辜血的罪歸在你的百姓以色列中間。』這樣，流血的罪必得赦免。Accept this atonement, O LORD, for Your people Israel whom You have redeemed, and do not hold the shedding of innocent blood against them.” And the bloodshed will be atoned for.

⁹你行耶和華眼中看為正的事，就可以從你們中間除掉流無辜血的罪。」So you shall purge from among you the guilt of shedding innocent blood, since you have done what is right in the eyes of the LORD.

娶被擄的女子

¹⁰「你出去與仇敵爭戰的時候，耶和華─你的　神將他們交在你手中，你就擄了他們去。When you go to war against your enemies and the LORD your God delivers them into your hand and you take them captive,

¹¹若在被擄的人中見有美貌的女子，戀慕她，要娶她為妻，if you see a beautiful woman among them, and you desire her and want to take her as your wife,

¹²就可以領她到你家裡去；她便要剃頭髮，修指甲，then you shall bring her into your house. She must shave her head, trim her nails,

¹³脫去被擄時所穿的衣服，住在你家裡哀哭父母一個整月，然後可以與她同房。你作她的丈夫，她作你的妻子。and put aside the clothing of her captivity. After she has lived in your house a full month and mourned her father and mother, you may have relations with her and be her husband, and she shall be your wife.

¹⁴後來你若不喜悅她，就要由她隨意出去，決不可為錢賣她，也不可當婢女待她，因為你玷污了她。」And if you are not pleased with her, you are to let her go wherever she wishes. But you must not sell her for money or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

長子的名分

¹⁵「人若有二妻，一為所愛，一為所惡，所愛的、所惡的都給他生了兒子，但長子是所惡之妻生的。If a man has two wives, one beloved and the other unloved, and both bear him sons, but the unloved wife has the firstborn son,

¹⁶到了把產業分給兒子承受的時候，不可將所愛之妻生的兒子立為長子，在所惡之妻生的兒子以上，when that man assigns his inheritance to his sons he must not appoint the son of the beloved wife as the firstborn over the son of the unloved wife.

¹⁷卻要認所惡之妻生的兒子為長子，將產業多加一分給他；因這兒子是他力量強壯的時候生的，長子的名分本當歸他。」Instead, he must acknowledge the firstborn, the son of his unloved wife, by giving him a double portion of all that he has. For that son is the firstfruits of his father’s strength; the right of the firstborn belongs to him.

頑梗悖逆的兒子

¹⁸「人若有頑梗悖逆的兒子，不聽從父母的話，他們雖懲治他，他仍不聽從，If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and does not listen to them when disciplined,

¹⁹父母就要抓住他，將他帶到本地的城門、本城的長老那裡，his father and mother are to lay hold of him and bring him to the elders of his city, to the gate of his hometown,

²⁰對長老說：『我們這兒子頑梗悖逆，不聽從我們的話，是貪食好酒的人。』and say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he does not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.”

²¹本城的眾人就要用石頭將他打死。這樣，就把那惡從你們中間除掉，以色列眾人都要聽見害怕。」Then all the men of his city will stone him to death. So you must purge the evil from among you, and all Israel will hear and be afraid.

被掛在木頭上的屍首

²²「人若犯該死的罪，被治死了，你將他掛在木頭上，If a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is executed, and you hang his body on a tree,

²³他的屍首不可留在木頭上過夜，必要當日將他葬埋，免得玷污了耶和華─你　神所賜你為業之地。因為被掛的人是在　神面前受咒詛的。you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to bury him that day, because anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s curse. You must not defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.

幫弟兄找回失物

¹「你若看見弟兄的牛或羊失迷了路，不可佯為不見，總要把牠牽回來交給你的弟兄。If you see your brother’s ox or sheep straying, you must not ignore it; be sure to return it to your brother.

²你弟兄若離你遠，或是你不認識他，就要牽到你家去，留在你那裡，等你弟兄來尋找就還給他。If your brother does not live near you, or if you do not know who he is, you are to take the animal home to remain with you until your brother comes seeking it; then you can return it to him.

³你的弟兄無論失落甚麼，或是驢，或是衣服，你若遇見，都要這樣行，不可佯為不見。And you shall do the same for his donkey, his cloak, or anything your brother has lost and you have found. You must not ignore it.

⁴你若看見弟兄的牛或驢跌倒在路上，不可佯為不見，總要幫助他拉起來。If you see your brother’s donkey or ox fallen on the road, you must not ignore it; you must help him lift it up.

男女衣著與鳥窩

⁵「婦女不可穿戴男子所穿戴的，男子也不可穿婦女的衣服，因為這樣行都是耶和華─你　神所憎惡的。A woman must not wear men’s clothing, and a man must not wear women’s clothing, for whoever does these things is detestable to the LORD your God.

⁶「你若路上遇見鳥窩，或在樹上或在地上，裡頭有雛或有蛋，母鳥伏在雛上或在蛋上，你不可連母帶雛一併取去。If you come across a bird’s nest with chicks or eggs, either in a tree or on the ground along the road, and the mother is sitting on the chicks or eggs, you must not take the mother along with the young.

⁷總要放母，只可取雛；這樣你就可以享福，日子得以長久。You may take the young, but be sure to let the mother go, so that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days.

欄杆、混種與繸子

⁸「你若建造房屋，要在房上的四圍安欄杆，免得有人從房上掉下來，流血的罪就歸於你家。If you build a new house, you are to construct a railing around your roof, so that you do not bring bloodguilt on your house if someone falls from it.

⁹「不可把兩樣種子種在你的葡萄園裡，免得你撒種所結的和葡萄園的果子都要充公。Do not plant your vineyard with two types of seed; if you do, the entire harvest will be defiled—both the crop you plant and the fruit of your vineyard.

¹⁰不可並用牛、驢耕地。Do not plow with an ox and a donkey yoked together.

¹¹不可穿羊毛、細麻兩樣攙雜料做的衣服。Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together.

¹²「你要在所披的外衣上四圍做繸子。」You are to make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.
