雅各的子孫在埃及

¹以色列的眾子，各帶家眷，和雅各一同來到埃及。他們的名字記在下面。These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:

²有流便、西緬、利未、猶大、Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;

³以薩迦、西布倫、便雅憫、Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;

⁴但、拿弗他利、迦得、亞設。Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher.

⁵凡從雅各而生的，共有七十人。約瑟已經在埃及。The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all, including Joseph, who was already in Egypt.

⁶約瑟和他的弟兄，並那一代的人，都死了。Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died,

⁷以色列人生養眾多，並且繁茂，極其強盛，滿了那地。but the Israelites were fruitful and increased rapidly; they multiplied and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.

新王苦害以色列人

⁸有不認識約瑟的新王起來，治理埃及，Then a new king, who did not know Joseph, came to power in Egypt.

⁹對他的百姓說：「看哪，這以色列民比我們還多，又比我們強盛。“Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become too numerous and too powerful for us.

¹⁰來吧，我們不如用巧計待他們，恐怕他們多起來，日後若遇甚麼爭戰的事，就連合我們的仇敵攻擊我們，離開這地去了。」Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”

¹¹於是埃及人派督工的轄制他們，加重擔苦害他們。他們為法老建造兩座積貨城，就是比東和蘭塞。So the Egyptians appointed taskmasters over the Israelites to oppress them with forced labor. As a result, they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.

¹²只是越發苦害他們，他們越發多起來，越發蔓延；埃及人就因以色列人愁煩。But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and flourished; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.

¹³埃及人嚴嚴地使以色列人做工，They worked the Israelites ruthlessly

¹⁴使他們因做苦工覺得命苦；無論是和泥，是做磚，是做田間各樣的工，在一切的工上都嚴嚴地待他們。and made their lives bitter with hard labor in brick and mortar, and with all kinds of work in the fields. Every service they imposed was harsh.

收生婆敬畏神

¹⁵有希伯來的兩個收生婆，一名施弗拉，一名普阿；埃及王對她們說：Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah,

¹⁶「你們為希伯來婦人收生，看她們臨盆的時候，若是男孩，就把他殺了；若是女孩，就留她存活。」“When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them on the birthstools. If the child is a son, kill him; but if it is a daughter, let her live.”

¹⁷但是收生婆敬畏　神，不照埃及王的吩咐行，竟存留男孩的性命。The midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had instructed; they let the boys live.

¹⁸埃及王召了收生婆來，說：「你們為甚麼做這事，存留男孩的性命呢？」So the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”

¹⁹收生婆對法老說：「因為希伯來婦人與埃及婦人不同；希伯來婦人本是健壯的（原文是活潑的），收生婆還沒有到，她們已經生產了。」The midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before a midwife arrives.”

²⁰神厚待收生婆。以色列人多起來，極其強盛。So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied and became even more numerous.

²¹收生婆因為敬畏　神，　神便叫她們成立家室。And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.

法老下令把男孩丟在河裡

²²法老吩咐他的眾民說：「以色列人所生的男孩，你們都要丟在河裡；一切的女孩，你們要存留她的性命。」Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”

摩西出生

¹有一個利未家的人娶了一個利未女子為妻。Now a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman,

²那女人懷孕，生一個兒子，見他俊美，就藏了他三個月，and she conceived and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a beautiful child, she hid him for three months.

³後來不能再藏，就取了一個蒲草箱，抹上石漆和石油，將孩子放在裡頭，把箱子擱在河邊的蘆荻中。But when she could no longer hide him, she got him a papyrus basket and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in the basket and set it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile.

⁴孩子的姊姊遠遠站著，要知道他究竟怎麼樣。And his sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

法老的女兒收養摩西

⁵法老的女兒來到河邊洗澡，她的使女們在河邊行走。她看見箱子在蘆荻中，就打發一個婢女拿來。Soon the daughter of Pharaoh went down to bathe in the Nile, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. And when she saw the basket among the reeds, she sent her maidservant to retrieve it.

⁶她打開箱子，看見那孩子。孩子哭了，她就可憐他，說：「這是希伯來人的一個孩子。」When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the little boy was crying. So she had compassion on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrew children.”

⁷孩子的姊姊對法老的女兒說：「我去在希伯來婦人中叫一個奶媽來，為你奶這孩子，可以不可以？」Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call one of the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?”

⁸法老的女兒說：「可以。」童女就去叫了孩子的母親來。“Go ahead,” Pharaoh’s daughter told her. And the girl went and called the boy’s mother.

⁹法老的女兒對她說：「你把這孩子抱去，為我奶他，我必給你工價。」婦人就抱了孩子去奶他。Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay your wages.” So the woman took the boy and nursed him.

¹⁰孩子漸長，婦人把他帶到法老的女兒那裡，就作了她的兒子。她給孩子起名叫摩西，意思說：「因我把他從水裡拉出來。」When the child had grown older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses and explained, “I drew him out of the water.”

摩西打死埃及人

¹¹後來，摩西長大，他出去到他弟兄那裡，看他們的重擔，見一個埃及人打希伯來人的一個弟兄。One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to his own people and observed their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people.

¹²他左右觀看，見沒有人，就把埃及人打死了，藏在沙土裡。After looking this way and that and seeing no one, he struck down the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand.

¹³第二天他出去，見有兩個希伯來人爭鬥，就對那欺負人的說：「你為甚麼打你同族的人呢？」The next day Moses went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you attacking your companion?”

¹⁴那人說：「誰立你作我們的首領和審判官呢？難道你要殺我，像殺那埃及人嗎？」摩西便懼怕，說：「這事必是被人知道了。」But the man replied, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you planning to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “This thing I have done has surely become known.”

摩西逃到米甸

¹⁵法老聽見這事，就想殺摩西，但摩西躲避法老，逃往米甸地居住。When Pharaoh heard about this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, where he sat down beside a well.

¹⁶一日，他在井旁坐下。米甸的祭司有七個女兒；她們來打水，打滿了槽，要飲父親的群羊。Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock.

¹⁷有牧羊的人來，把她們趕走了，摩西卻起來幫助她們，又飲了她們的群羊。And when some shepherds came along and drove them away, Moses rose up to help them and watered their flock.

¹⁸她們來到父親流珥那裡；他說：「今日你們為何來得這麼快呢？」When the daughters returned to their father Reuel, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?”

¹⁹她們說：「有一個埃及人救我們脫離牧羊人的手，並且為我們打水飲了群羊。」“An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds,” they replied. “He even drew water for us and watered the flock.”

²⁰他對女兒們說：「那個人在哪裡？你們為甚麼撇下他呢？你們去請他來吃飯。」“So where is he?” their father asked. “Why did you leave the man behind? Invite him to have something to eat.”

²¹摩西甘心和那人同住；那人把他的女兒西坡拉給摩西為妻。Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.

²²西坡拉生了一個兒子，摩西給他起名叫革舜，意思說：「因我在外邦作了寄居的。」And she gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

神聽見以色列人的哀聲

²³過了多年，埃及王死了。以色列人因做苦工，就歎息哀求，他們的哀聲達於　神。After a long time, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned and cried out under their burden of slavery, and their cry for deliverance from bondage ascended to God.

²⁴神聽見他們的哀聲，就記念他與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約。So God heard their groaning, and He remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

²⁵神看顧以色列人，也知道他們的苦情。God saw the Israelites and took notice.

荊棘中的火焰

¹摩西牧養他岳父米甸祭司葉忒羅的羊群；一日領羊群往野外去，到了　神的山，就是何烈山。Meanwhile, Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

²耶和華的使者從荊棘裡火焰中向摩西顯現。摩西觀看，不料，荊棘被火燒著，卻沒有燒毀。There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a blazing fire from within a bush. Moses saw the bush ablaze with fire, but it was not consumed.

³摩西說：「我要過去看這大異象，這荊棘為何沒有燒壞呢？」So Moses thought, “I must go over and see this marvelous sight. Why is the bush not burning up?”

⁴耶和華　神見他過去要看，就從荊棘裡呼叫說：「摩西！摩西！」他說：「我在這裡。」When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called out to him from within the bush, “Moses, Moses!” “Here I am,” he answered.

⁵神說：「不要近前來。當把你腳上的鞋脫下來，因為你所站之地是聖地」；“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

⁶又說：「我是你父親的　神，是亞伯拉罕的　神，以撒的　神，雅各的　神。」摩西蒙上臉，因為怕看　神。Then He said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

神要差摩西去見法老

⁷耶和華說：「我的百姓在埃及所受的困苦，我實在看見了；他們因受督工的轄制所發的哀聲，我也聽見了。我原知道他們的痛苦，The LORD said, “I have indeed seen the affliction of My people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I am aware of their sufferings.

⁸我下來是要救他們脫離埃及人的手，領他們出了那地，到美好、寬闊、流奶與蜜之地，就是到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人之地。I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

⁹現在以色列人的哀聲達到我耳中，我也看見埃及人怎樣欺壓他們。And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are oppressing them.

¹⁰故此，我要打發你去見法老，使你可以將我的百姓以色列人從埃及領出來。」Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

我必與你同在

¹¹摩西對　神說：「我是甚麼人，竟能去見法老，將以色列人從埃及領出來呢？」But Moses asked God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

¹²神說：「我必與你同在。你將百姓從埃及領出來之後，你們必在這山上事奉我；這就是我打發你去的證據。」“I will surely be with you,” God said, “and this will be the sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, all of you will worship God on this mountain.”

神的名

¹³摩西對　神說：「我到以色列人那裡，對他們說：『你們祖宗的　神打發我到你們這裡來。』他們若問我說：『他叫甚麼名字？』我要對他們說甚麼呢？」Then Moses asked God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His name?’ What should I tell them?”

¹⁴神對摩西說：「我是自有永有的」；又說：「你要對以色列人這樣說：『那自有的打發我到你們這裡來。』」God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

¹⁵神又對摩西說：「你要對以色列人這樣說：『耶和華─你們祖宗的　神，就是亞伯拉罕的　神，以撒的　神，雅各的　神，打發我到你們這裡來。』耶和華是我的名，直到永遠；這也是我的紀念，直到萬代。God also told Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.

招聚長老，去見法老

¹⁶你去招聚以色列的長老，對他們說：『耶和華－你們祖宗的　神，就是亞伯拉罕的　神，以撒的　神，雅各的　神，向我顯現，說：我實在眷顧了你們，我也看見埃及人怎樣待你們。Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—has appeared to me and said: I have surely attended to you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt.

¹⁷我也說：要將你們從埃及的困苦中領出來，往迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人的地去，就是到流奶與蜜之地。』And I have promised to bring you up out of your affliction in Egypt, into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

¹⁸他們必聽你的話。你和以色列的長老要去見埃及王，對他說：『耶和華─希伯來人的　神遇見了我們，現在求你容我們往曠野去，走三天的路程，為要祭祀耶和華─我們的　神。』The elders of Israel will listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’

¹⁹我知道雖用大能的手，埃及王也不容你們去。But I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go unless a mighty hand compels him.

²⁰我必伸手在埃及中間施行我一切的奇事，攻擊那地，然後他才容你們去。So I will stretch out My hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders I will perform among them. And after that, he will release you.

²¹我必叫你們在埃及人眼前蒙恩，你們去的時候就不至於空手而去。And I will grant this people such favor in the sight of the Egyptians that when you leave, you will not go away empty-handed.

²²但各婦女必向她的鄰舍，並居住在她家裡的女人，要金器銀器和衣裳，好給你們的兒女穿戴。這樣你們就把埃及人的財物奪去了。」Every woman shall ask her neighbor and any woman staying in her house for silver and gold jewelry and clothing, and you will put them on your sons and daughters. So you will plunder the Egyptians.”

人說人子是誰

¹³耶穌到了凱撒利亞•腓立比的境內，就問門徒說：「人說我─（有古卷沒有我字）─人子是誰？」When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, He questioned His disciples: “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

¹⁴他們說：「有人說是施洗的約翰；有人說是以利亞；又有人說是耶利米或是先知裡的一位。」They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

彼得認耶穌是基督

¹⁵耶穌說：「你們說我是誰？」“But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”

¹⁶西門•彼得回答說：「你是基督，是永生　神的兒子。」Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

建造教會在磐石上

¹⁷耶穌對他說：「西門•巴•約拿，你是有福的！因為這不是屬血肉的指示你的，乃是我在天上的父指示的。Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven.

¹⁸我還告訴你，你是彼得，我要把我的教會建造在這磐石上；陰間的權柄（權柄：原文是門），不能勝過他。And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

¹⁹我要把天國的鑰匙給你，凡你在地上所捆綁的，在天上也要捆綁；凡你在地上所釋放的，在天上也要釋放。」I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

不可對人說

²⁰當下，耶穌囑咐門徒，不可對人說他是基督。Then He admonished the disciples not to tell anyone that He was the Christ.

耶穌預言受死和復活

²¹從此，耶穌才指示門徒，他必須上耶路撒冷去，受長老、祭司長、文士許多的苦，並且被殺，第三日復活。From that time on Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

彼得勸阻，耶穌責備

²²彼得就拉著他，勸他說：「主啊，萬不可如此！這事必不臨到你身上。」Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!”

²³耶穌轉過來，對彼得說：「撒但，退我後邊去吧！你是絆我腳的；因為你不體貼　神的意思，只體貼人的意思。」But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

捨己，背起十字架

²⁴於是耶穌對門徒說：「若有人要跟從我，就當捨己，背起他的十字架來跟從我。Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

²⁵因為，凡要救自己生命（生命：或譯靈魂；下同）的，必喪掉生命；凡為我喪掉生命的，必得著生命。For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

²⁶人若賺得全世界，賠上自己的生命，有甚麼益處呢？人還能拿甚麼換生命呢？What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

人子要照各人的行為報應

²⁷人子要在他父的榮耀裡，同著眾使者降臨；那時候，他要照各人的行為報應各人。For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done.
