回伯特利築壇

¹神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裡；要在那裡築一座壇給　神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的那位。」Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

²雅各就對他家中的人並一切與他同在的人說：「你們要除掉你們中間的外邦神，也要自潔，更換衣裳。So Jacob told his household and all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods that are among you. Purify yourselves and change your garments.

³我們要起來，上伯特利去，在那裡我要築一座壇給　神，就是在我遭難的日子應允我的禱告、在我行的路上保佑我的那位。」Then let us arise and go to Bethel. I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in my day of distress. He has been with me wherever I have gone.”

⁴他們就把外邦人的神像和他們耳朵上的環子交給雅各；雅各都藏在示劍那裡的橡樹底下。So they gave Jacob all their foreign gods and all their earrings, and Jacob buried them under the oak near Shechem.

⁵他們便起行前往。　神使那周圍城邑的人都甚驚懼，就不追趕雅各的眾子了。As they set out, a terror from God fell over the surrounding cities, so that they did not pursue Jacob’s sons.

⁶於是雅各和一切與他同在的人到了迦南地的路斯，就是伯特利。So Jacob and everyone with him arrived in Luz (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.

⁷他在那裡築了一座壇，就給那地方起名叫伊勒‧伯特利（就是伯特利之　神的意思）；因為他逃避他哥哥的時候，　神在那裡向他顯現。There Jacob built an altar, and he called that place El-bethel, because it was there that God had revealed Himself to Jacob as he fled from his brother.

⁸利百加的奶母底波拉死了，就葬在伯特利下邊橡樹底下；那棵樹名叫亞倫‧巴古。Now Deborah, Rebekah’s nurse, died and was buried under the oak below Bethel. So Jacob named it Allon-bacuth.

神再次稱雅各為以色列

⁹雅各從巴旦‧亞蘭回來，　神又向他顯現，賜福與他，After Jacob had returned from Paddan-aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.

¹⁰且對他說：「你的名原是雅各，從今以後不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列。」這樣，他就改名叫以色列。And God said to him, “Though your name is Jacob, you will no longer be called Jacob. Instead, your name will be Israel.” So God named him Israel.

¹¹神又對他說：「我是全能的　神；你要生養眾多，將來有一族和多國的民從你而生，又有君王從你而出。And God told him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation—even a company of nations—shall come from you, and kings shall descend from you.

¹²我所賜給亞伯拉罕和以撒的地，我要賜給你與你的後裔。」The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give this land to your descendants after you.”

¹³神就從那與雅各說話的地方升上去了。Then God went up from the place where He had spoken with him.

¹⁴雅各便在那裡立了一根石柱，在柱子上奠酒，澆油。So Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God had spoken with him—a stone marker—and he poured out a drink offering on it and anointed it with oil.

¹⁵雅各就給那地方起名叫伯特利。Jacob called the place where God had spoken with him Bethel.

拉結生便雅憫後去世

¹⁶他們從伯特利起行，離以法他還有一段路程，拉結臨產甚是艱難。Later, they set out from Bethel, and while they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel began to give birth, and her labor was difficult.

¹⁷正在艱難的時候，收生婆對她說：「不要怕，你又要得一個兒子了。」During her severe labor, the midwife said to her, “Do not be afraid, for you are having another son.”

¹⁸她將近於死，靈魂要走的時候，就給她兒子起名叫便‧俄尼；他父親卻給他起名叫便雅憫。And with her last breath—for she was dying—she named him Ben-oni. But his father called him Benjamin.

¹⁹拉結死了，葬在以法他的路旁；以法他就是伯利恆。So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).

²⁰雅各在她的墳上立了一統碑，就是拉結的墓碑，到今日還在。Jacob set up a pillar on her grave; it marks Rachel’s tomb to this day.

²¹以色列起行前往，在以得臺那邊支搭帳棚。Israel again set out and pitched his tent beyond the Tower of Eder.

流便的罪；雅各的十二個兒子

²²以色列住在那地的時候，流便去與他父親的妾辟拉同寢，以色列也聽見了。雅各共有十二個兒子。While Israel was living in that region, Reuben went in and slept with his father’s concubine Bilhah, and Israel heard about it. Jacob had twelve sons:

²³利亞所生的是雅各的長子流便，還有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫。The sons of Leah were Reuben the firstborn of Jacob, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.

²⁴拉結所生的是約瑟、便雅憫。The sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.

²⁵拉結的使女辟拉所生的是但、拿弗他利。The sons of Rachel’s maidservant Bilhah were Dan and Naphtali.

²⁶利亞的使女悉帕所生的是迦得、亞設。這是雅各在巴旦‧亞蘭所生的兒子。And the sons of Leah’s maidservant Zilpah were Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddan-aram.

以撒去世

²⁷雅各來到他父親以撒那裡，到了基列‧亞巴的幔利，乃是亞伯拉罕和以撒寄居的地方；基列‧亞巴就是希伯崙。Jacob returned to his father Isaac at Mamre, near Kiriath-arba (that is, Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had stayed.

²⁸以撒共活了一百八十歲。And Isaac lived 180 years.

²⁹以撒年紀老邁，日子滿足，氣絕而死，歸到他列祖（原文是本民）那裡。他兩個兒子以掃、雅各把他埋葬了。Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

以掃的妻子和兒子

¹以掃就是以東，他的後代記在下面。This is the account of Esau (that is, Edom).

²以掃娶迦南的女子為妻，就是赫人以倫的女兒亞大和希未人祭便的孫女、亞拿的女兒阿何利巴瑪，Esau took his wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite,

³又娶了以實瑪利的女兒、尼拜約的妹子巴實抹。and Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.

⁴亞大給以掃生了以利法；巴實抹生了流珥；And Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath gave birth to Reuel,

⁵阿何利巴瑪生了耶烏施、雅蘭、可拉。這都是以掃的兒子，是在迦南地生的。and Oholibamah gave birth to Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.

以掃遷到西珥山

⁶以掃帶著他的妻子、兒女，與家中一切的人口，並他的牛羊、牲畜，和一切貨財，就是他在迦南地所得的，往別處去，離了他兄弟雅各。Later, Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his livestock, all his other animals, and all the property he had acquired in Canaan, and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.

⁷因為二人的財物群畜甚多，寄居的地方容不下他們，所以不能同居。For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together; the land where they stayed could not support them because of their livestock.

⁸於是以掃住在西珥山裡；以掃就是以東。So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the area of Mount Seir.

以東人的始祖以掃的後代

⁹以掃是西珥山裡以東人的始祖，他的後代記在下面。This is the account of Esau, the father of the Edomites, in the area of Mount Seir.

¹⁰以掃眾子的名字如下。以掃的妻子亞大生以利法；以掃的妻子巴實抹生流珥。These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau’s wife Basemath.

¹¹以利法的兒子是提幔、阿抹、洗玻、迦坦、基納斯。The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.

¹²亭納是以掃兒子以利法的妾；她給以利法生了亞瑪力。這是以掃的妻子亞大的子孫。Additionally, Timna, a concubine of Esau’s son Eliphaz, gave birth to Amalek. These are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.

¹³流珥的兒子是拿哈、謝拉、沙瑪、米撒。這是以掃妻子巴實抹的子孫。These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.

¹⁷以掃的兒子流珥的子孫中，有拿哈族長、謝拉族長、沙瑪族長、米撒族長。這是在以東地從流珥所出的族長，都是以掃妻子巴實抹的子孫。These are the sons of Esau’s son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. They are the chiefs descended from Reuel in the land of Edom, and they are the grandsons of Esau’s wife Basemath.

¹⁸以掃的妻子阿何利巴瑪的子孫中，有耶烏施族長、雅蘭族長、可拉族長。這是從以掃妻子，亞拿的女兒，阿何利巴瑪子孫中所出的族長。These are the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. They are the chiefs descended from Esau’s wife Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah.

¹⁹以上的族長都是以掃的子孫；以掃就是以東。All these are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and they were their chiefs.

何利人西珥的子孫

²⁰那地原有的居民─何利人西珥的子孫記在下面：就是羅坍、朔巴、祭便、亞拿、These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

²¹底順、以察、底珊。這是從以東地的何利人西珥子孫中所出的族長。Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. They are the chiefs of the Horites, the descendants of Seir in the land of Edom.

²²羅坍的兒子是何利、希幔；羅坍的妹子是亭納。The sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam. Timna was Lotan’s sister.

²³朔巴的兒子是亞勒文、瑪拿轄、以巴錄、示玻、阿南。These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.

²⁴祭便的兒子是亞雅、亞拿（當時在曠野放他父親祭便的驢，遇著溫泉的，就是這亞拿）。These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. (This is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness as he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.)

²⁵亞拿的兒子是底順；亞拿的女兒是阿何利巴瑪。These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah.

²⁶底順的兒子是欣但、伊是班、益蘭、基蘭。These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.

²⁷以察的兒子是辟罕、撒番、亞干。These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.

²⁸底珊的兒子是烏斯、亞蘭。These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

²⁹從何利人所出的族長記在下面：就是羅坍族長、朔巴族長、祭便族長、亞拿族長、These are the chiefs of the Horites: Chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

³⁰底順族長、以察族長、底珊族長。這是從何利人所出的族長，都在西珥地，按著宗族作族長。Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. They are the chiefs of the Horites, according to their divisions in the land of Seir.

以東的諸王

³¹以色列人未有君王治理以先，在以東地作王的記在下面。These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the Israelites:

³⁹亞革波的兒子巴勒‧哈南死了，哈達接續他作王，他的京城名叫巴烏；他的妻子名叫米希她別，是米‧薩合的孫女，瑪特列的女兒。When Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, Hadad reigned in his place. His city was named Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.

從以掃所出的族長

⁴⁰從以掃所出的族長，按著他們的宗族、住處、名字記在下面：就是亭納族長、亞勒瓦族長、耶帖族長、These are the names of Esau’s chiefs, according to their families and regions, by their names: Chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,

⁴¹阿何利巴瑪族長、以拉族長、比嫩族長、Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,

⁴²基納斯族長、提幔族長、米比薩族長、Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,

⁴³瑪基疊族長、以蘭族長。這是以東人在所得為業的地上，按著他們的住處。〈所有的族長都是以東人的始祖以掃的後代。〉Magdiel, and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they possessed. Esau was the father of the Edomites.

門徒在安息日掐麥穗

¹那時，耶穌在安息日從麥地經過。他的門徒餓了，就掐起麥穗來吃。At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them.

²法利賽人看見，就對耶穌說：「看哪，你的門徒做安息日不可做的事了！」When the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.”

大衛和祭司的例子

³耶穌對他們說：「經上記著大衛和跟從他的人飢餓之時所做的事，你們沒有念過嗎？Jesus replied, “Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry?

⁴他怎麼進了　神的殿，吃了陳設餅，這餅不是他和跟從他的人可以吃得，惟獨祭司才可以吃。He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for them to eat, but only for the priests.

⁵再者，律法上所記的，當安息日，祭司在殿裡犯了安息日還是沒有罪，你們沒有念過嗎？Or haven’t you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are innocent?

比殿更大的一位

⁶但我告訴你們，在這裡有一人比殿更大。But I tell you that One greater than the temple is here.

⁷『我喜愛憐恤，不喜愛祭祀。』你們若明白這話的意思，就不將無罪的當作有罪的了。If only you had known the meaning of ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the innocent.

安息日醫好枯乾的手

⁹耶穌離開那地方，進了一個會堂。Moving on from there, Jesus entered their synagogue,

¹⁰那裡有一個人枯乾了一隻手。有人問耶穌說：「安息日治病可以不可以？」意思是要控告他。and a man with a withered hand was there. In order to accuse Jesus, they asked Him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

¹¹耶穌說：「你們中間誰有一隻羊，當安息日掉在坑裡，不把牠抓住，拉上來呢？He replied, “If one of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will he not take hold of it and lift it out?

¹²人比羊何等貴重呢！所以，在安息日做善事是可以的。」How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

¹³於是對那人說：「伸出手來！」他把手一伸，手就復了原，和那隻手一樣。Then Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out, and it was restored to full use, just like the other.

法利賽人商議除滅耶穌

¹⁴法利賽人出去，商議怎樣可以除滅耶穌。But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus.

耶穌退去，醫好眾人

¹⁵耶穌知道了，就離開那裡，有許多人跟著他。他把其中有病的人都治好了；Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all,

¹⁶又囑咐他們，不要給他傳名。warning them not to make Him known.

神所揀選的僕人

¹⁷這是要應驗先知以賽亞的話，說：This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

¹⁸看哪！我的僕人，我所揀選、所親愛、心裡所喜悅的，我要將我的靈賜給他；他必將公理傳給外邦。“Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.

¹⁹他不爭競，不喧嚷；街上也沒有人聽見他的聲音。He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.

²⁰壓傷的蘆葦，他不折斷；將殘的燈火，他不吹滅；等他施行公理，叫公理得勝。A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory.

²¹外邦人都要仰望他的名。In His name the nations will put their hope.”
