以撒的後代

¹⁹亞伯拉罕的兒子以撒的後代記在下面。亞伯拉罕生以撒。This is the account of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac,

²⁰以撒娶利百加為妻的時候正四十歲。利百加是巴旦‧亞蘭地的亞蘭人彼土利的女兒，是亞蘭人拉班的妹子。and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean.

雙子在腹中相爭

²¹以撒因他妻子不生育，就為她祈求耶和華；耶和華應允他的祈求，他的妻子利百加就懷了孕。Later, Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD heard his prayer, and his wife Rebekah conceived.

²²孩子們在她腹中彼此相爭，她就說：「若是這樣，我為甚麼活著呢（或譯：我為甚麼如此呢）？」她就去求問耶和華。But the children inside her struggled with each other, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So Rebekah went to inquire of the LORD,

²³耶和華對她說：兩國在你腹內；兩族要從你身上出來。這族必強於那族；將來大的要服事小的。and He declared to her: “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.”

以掃和雅各出生

²⁴生產的日子到了，腹中果然是雙子。When her time came to give birth, there were indeed twins in her womb.

²⁵先產的身體發紅，渾身有毛，如同皮衣，他們就給他起名叫以掃（就是有毛的意思）。The first one came out red, covered with hair like a fur coat; so they named him Esau.

²⁶隨後又生了以掃的兄弟，手抓住以掃的腳跟，因此給他起名叫雅各（就是抓住的意思）。利百加生下兩個兒子的時候，以撒年正六十歲。After this, his brother came out grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when the twins were born.

²⁷兩個孩子漸漸長大，以掃善於打獵，常在田野；雅各為人安靜，常住在帳棚裡。When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man who stayed at home.

²⁸以撒愛以掃，因為常吃他的野味；利百加卻愛雅各。Because Isaac had a taste for wild game, he loved Esau; but Rebekah loved Jacob.

以掃賣了長子的名分

²⁹有一天，雅各熬湯，以掃從田野回來累昏了。One day, while Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the field and was famished.

³⁰以掃對雅各說：「我累昏了，求你把這紅湯給我喝。」因此以掃又叫以東（就是紅的意思）。He said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am famished.” (That is why he was also called Edom.)

³¹雅各說：「你今日把長子的名分賣給我吧。」“First sell me your birthright,” Jacob replied.

³²以掃說：「我將要死，這長子的名分於我有甚麼益處呢？」“Look,” said Esau, “I am about to die, so what good is a birthright to me?”

³³雅各說：「你今日對我起誓吧。」以掃就對他起了誓，把長子的名分賣給雅各。“Swear to me first,” Jacob said. So Esau swore to Jacob and sold him the birthright.

³⁴於是雅各將餅和紅豆湯給了以掃，以掃吃了喝了，便起來走了。這就是以掃輕看了他長子的名分。Then Jacob gave some bread and lentil stew to Esau, who ate and drank and then got up and went away. Thus Esau despised his birthright.

神向以撒顯現

¹在亞伯拉罕的日子，那地有一次饑荒；這時又有饑荒，以撒就往基拉耳去，到非利士人的王亞比米勒那裡。Now there was another famine in the land, subsequent to the one that had occurred in Abraham’s time. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.

²耶和華向以撒顯現，說：「你不要下埃及去，要住在我所指示你的地。The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt. Settle in the land where I tell you.

³你寄居在這地，我必與你同在，賜福給你，因為我要將這些地都賜給你和你的後裔。我必堅定我向你父亞伯拉罕所起的誓。Stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you. For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring, and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.

⁴我要加增你的後裔，像天上的星那樣多，又要將這些地都賜給你的後裔。並且地上萬國必因你的後裔得福－I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed,

⁵都因亞伯拉罕聽從我的話，遵守我的吩咐和我的命令、律例、法度。」because Abraham listened to My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”

以撒稱妻子為妹子

⁶以撒就住在基拉耳。So Isaac settled in Gerar.

⁷那地方的人問到他的妻子，他便說：「那是我的妹子。」原來他怕說：「是我的妻子」；他心裡想：「恐怕這地方的人為利百加的緣故殺我」，因為她容貌俊美。But when the men of that place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister.” For he was afraid to say, “She is my wife,” since he thought to himself, “The men of this place will kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is so beautiful.”

⁸他在那裡住了許久。有一天，非利士人的王亞比米勒從窗戶裡往外觀看，見以撒和他的妻子利百加戲玩。When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from the window and was surprised to see Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah.

⁹亞比米勒召了以撒來，對他說：「她實在是你的妻子，你怎麼說她是你的妹子？」以撒說：「我心裡想，恐怕我因她而死。」Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, “So she is really your wife! How could you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac replied, “Because I thought I might die on account of her.”

¹⁰亞比米勒說：「你向我們做的是甚麼事呢？民中險些有人和你的妻同寢，把我們陷在罪裡。」“What is this you have done to us?” asked Abimelech. “One of the people could easily have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”

¹¹於是亞比米勒曉諭眾民說：「凡沾著這個人，或是他妻子的，定要把他治死。」So Abimelech warned all the people, saying, “Whoever harms this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”

以撒蒙福，非利士人嫉妒

¹²以撒在那地耕種，那一年有百倍的收成。耶和華賜福給他，Now Isaac sowed seed in the land, and that very year he reaped a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him,

¹³他就昌大，日增月盛，成了大富戶。and he became richer and richer, until he was exceedingly wealthy.

¹⁴他有羊群牛群，又有許多僕人，非利士人就嫉妒他。He owned so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.

¹⁵當他父親亞伯拉罕在世的日子，他父親的僕人所挖的井，非利士人全都塞住，填滿了土。So the Philistines took dirt and stopped up all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the days of his father Abraham.

¹⁶亞比米勒對以撒說：「你離開我們去吧。因為你比我們強盛得多。」Then Abimelech said to Isaac, “Depart from us, for you are much too powerful for us.”

挖井與爭競

¹⁷以撒就離開那裡，在基拉耳谷支搭帳棚，住在那裡。So Isaac left that place and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.

¹⁸當他父親亞伯拉罕在世之日所挖的水井因非利士人在亞伯拉罕死後塞住了，以撒就重新挖出來，仍照他父親所叫的叫那些井的名字。Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died. And he gave these wells the same names his father had given them.

¹⁹以撒的僕人在谷中挖井，便得了一口活水井。Then Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found a well of fresh water there.

²⁰基拉耳的牧人與以撒的牧人爭競，說：「這水是我們的。」以撒就給那井起名叫埃色（就是相敵的意思），因為他們和他相爭。But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they contended with him.

²¹以撒的僕人又挖了一口井，他們又為這井爭競，因此以撒給這井起名叫西提拿（就是為敵的意思）。Then they dug another well and quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.

²²以撒離開那裡，又挖了一口井，他們不為這井爭競了，他就給那井起名叫利河伯（就是寬闊的意思）。他說：「耶和華現在給我們寬闊之地，我們必在這地昌盛。」He moved on from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. He named it Rehoboth and said, “At last the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”

神在別是巴向以撒顯現

²³以撒從那裡上別是巴去。From there Isaac went up to Beersheba,

²⁴當夜耶和華向他顯現，說：「我是你父親亞伯拉罕的　神，不要懼怕！因為我與你同在，要賜福給你，並要為我僕人亞伯拉罕的緣故，使你的後裔繁多。」and that night the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.”

²⁵以撒就在那裡築了一座壇，求告耶和華的名，並且支搭帳棚；他的僕人便在那裡挖了一口井。So Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD, and he pitched his tent there. His servants also dug a well there.

與亞比米勒立約

²⁶亞比米勒，同他的朋友亞戶撒和他的軍長非各，從基拉耳來見以撒。Later, Abimelech came to Isaac from Gerar, with Ahuzzath his adviser and Phicol the commander of his army.

²⁷以撒對他們說：「你們既然恨我，打發我走了，為甚麼到我這裡來呢？」“Why have you come to me?” Isaac asked them. “You hated me and sent me away.”

²⁸他們說：「我們明明地看見耶和華與你同在，便說，不如我們兩下彼此起誓，彼此立約，“We can plainly see that the LORD has been with you,” they replied. “We recommend that there should now be an oath between us and you. Let us make a covenant with you

²⁹使你不害我們，正如我們未曾害你，一味地厚待你，並且打發你平平安安地走。你是蒙耶和華賜福的了。」that you will not harm us, just as we have not harmed you but have done only good to you, sending you on your way in peace. And now you are blessed by the LORD.”

³⁰以撒就為他們設擺筵席，他們便吃了喝了。So Isaac prepared a feast for them, and they ate and drank.

³¹他們清早起來彼此起誓。以撒打發他們走，他們就平平安安地離開他走了。And they got up early the next morning and swore an oath to each other. Then Isaac sent them on their way, and they left him in peace.

³²那一天，以撒的僕人來，將挖井的事告訴他說：「我們得了水了。」On that same day, Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well they had dug. “We have found water!” they told him.

³³他就給那井起名叫示巴；因此那城叫做別是巴，直到今日。So he called it Shibah, and to this day the name of the city is Beersheba.

以掃娶赫人的女子

³⁴以掃四十歲的時候娶了赫人比利的女兒猶滴，與赫人以倫的女兒巴實抹為妻。When Esau was forty years old, he took as his wives Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite.

³⁵她們常使以撒和利百加心裡愁煩。And they brought grief to Isaac and Rebekah.

以撒要給以掃祝福

¹以撒年老，眼睛昏花，不能看見，就叫了他大兒子以掃來，說：「我兒。」以掃說：「我在這裡。」When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” Esau replied.

²他說：「我如今老了，不知道那一天死。“Look,” said Isaac, “I am now old, and I do not know the day of my death.

³現在拿你的器械，就是箭囊和弓，往田野去為我打獵，Take your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out into the field to hunt some game for me.

⁴照我所愛的做成美味，拿來給我吃，使我在未死之先給你祝福。」Then prepare a tasty dish that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I may bless you before I die.”

利百加的計謀

⁵以撒對他兒子以掃說話，利百加也聽見了。以掃往田野去打獵，要得野味帶來。Now Rebekah was listening to what Isaac told his son Esau. So when Esau went into the field to hunt game and bring it back,

⁶利百加就對她兒子雅各說：「我聽見你父親對你哥哥以掃說：Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Behold, I overheard your father saying to your brother Esau,

⁷『你去把野獸帶來，做成美味給我吃，我好在未死之先，在耶和華面前給你祝福。』‘Bring me some game and prepare me a tasty dish to eat, so that I may bless you in the presence of the LORD before I die.’

⁸現在，我兒，你要照著我所吩咐你的，聽從我的話。Now, my son, listen to my voice and do exactly as I tell you.

⁹你到羊群裡去，給我拿兩隻肥山羊羔來，我便照你父親所愛的給他做成美味。Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so that I can make them into a tasty dish for your father—the kind he loves.

¹⁰你拿到你父親那裡給他吃，使他在未死之先給你祝福。」Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.”

¹¹雅各對他母親利百加說：「我哥哥以掃渾身是有毛的，我身上是光滑的；Jacob answered his mother Rebekah, “Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, but I am smooth-skinned.

¹²倘若我父親摸著我，必以我為欺哄人的，我就招咒詛，不得祝福。」What if my father touches me? Then I would be revealed to him as a deceiver, and I would bring upon myself a curse rather than a blessing.”

¹³他母親對他說：「我兒，你招的咒詛歸到我身上；你只管聽我的話，去把羊羔給我拿來。」His mother replied, “Your curse be on me, my son. Just obey my voice and go get them for me.”

¹⁴他便去拿來，交給他母親；他母親就照他父親所愛的做成美味。So Jacob went and got two goats and brought them to his mother, who made the tasty food his father loved.

¹⁵利百加又把家裡所存大兒子以掃上好的衣服給她小兒子雅各穿上，And Rebekah took the finest clothes in the house that belonged to her older son Esau, and she put them on her younger son Jacob.

¹⁶又用山羊羔皮包在雅各的手上和頸項的光滑處，She also put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.

¹⁷就把所做的美味和餅交在她兒子雅各的手裡。Then she handed her son Jacob the tasty food and bread she had made.

雅各冒充以掃得祝福

¹⁸雅各到他父親那裡說：「我父親！」他說：「我在這裡。我兒，你是誰？」So Jacob went to his father and said, “My father.” “Here I am!” he answered. “Which one are you, my son?”

¹⁹雅各對他父親說：「我是你的長子以掃；我已照你所吩咐我的行了。請起來坐著，吃我的野味，好給我祝福。」Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau, your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may bless me.”

²⁰以撒對他兒子說：「我兒，你如何找得這麼快呢？」他說：「因為耶和華─你的　神使我遇見好機會得著的。」But Isaac asked his son, “How did you ever find it so quickly, my son?” “Because the LORD your God brought it to me,” he replied.

²¹以撒對雅各說：「我兒，你近前來，我摸摸你，知道你真是我的兒子以掃不是。」Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come closer so I can touch you, my son. Are you really my son Esau, or not?”

²²雅各就挨近他父親以撒。以撒摸著他，說：「聲音是雅各的聲音，手卻是以掃的手。」So Jacob came close to his father Isaac, who touched him and said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”

²³以撒就辨不出他來；因為他手上有毛，像他哥哥以掃的手一樣，就給他祝福；Isaac did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like those of his brother Esau; so he blessed him.

²⁴又說：「你真是我兒子以掃嗎？」他說：「我是。」Again he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?” And he replied, “I am.”

²⁵以撒說：「你遞給我，我好吃我兒子的野味，給你祝福。」雅各就遞給他，他便吃了，又拿酒給他，他也喝了。“Serve me,” said Isaac, “and let me eat some of my son’s game, so that I may bless you.” Jacob brought it to him, and he ate; then he brought him wine, and he drank.

²⁶他父親以撒對他說：「我兒，你上前來與我親嘴。」Then his father Isaac said to him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.”

²⁷他就上前與父親親嘴。他父親一聞他衣服上的香氣，就給他祝福，說：我兒的香氣如同耶和華賜福之田地的香氣一樣。So he came near and kissed him. When Isaac smelled his clothing, he blessed him and said: “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the LORD has blessed.

²⁸願　神賜你天上的甘露，地上的肥土，並許多五穀新酒。May God give to you the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth—an abundance of grain and new wine.

²⁹願多民事奉你，多國跪拜你。願你作你弟兄的主；你母親的兒子向你跪拜。凡咒詛你的，願他受咒詛；為你祝福的，願他蒙福。May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. May you be the master of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”

呼召馬太

⁹耶穌從那裡往前走，看見一個人名叫馬太，坐在稅關上，就對他說：「你跟從我來。」他就起來跟從了耶穌。As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.

與稅吏和罪人吃飯

¹⁰耶穌在屋裡坐席的時候，有好些稅吏和罪人來，與耶穌和他的門徒一同坐席。Later, as Jesus was dining at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with Him and His disciples.

¹¹法利賽人看見，就對耶穌的門徒說：「你們的先生為甚麼和稅吏並罪人一同吃飯呢？」When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

¹²耶穌聽見，就說：「康健的人用不著醫生，有病的人才用得著。On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.

¹³經上說：『我喜愛憐恤，不喜愛祭祀。』這句話的意思，你們且去揣摩。我來本不是召義人，乃是召罪人。」But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

論禁食：新酒裝新皮袋

¹⁴那時，約翰的門徒來見耶穌，說：「我們和法利賽人常常禁食，你的門徒倒不禁食，這是為甚麼呢？」Then John’s disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why is it that we and the Pharisees fast so often, but Your disciples do not fast?”

¹⁵耶穌對他們說：「新郎和陪伴之人同在的時候，陪伴之人豈能哀慟呢？但日子將到，新郎要離開他們，那時候他們就要禁食。Jesus replied, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while He is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast.

¹⁶沒有人把新布補在舊衣服上；因為所補上的反帶壞了那衣服，破的就更大了。No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. For the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear will result.

¹⁷也沒有人把新酒裝在舊皮袋裡；若是這樣，皮袋就裂開，酒漏出來，連皮袋也壞了。惟獨把新酒裝在新皮袋裡，兩樣就都保全了。」Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

管會堂的來求耶穌

¹⁸耶穌說這話的時候，有一個管會堂的來拜他，說：「我女兒剛才死了，求你去按手在她身上，她就必活了。」While Jesus was saying these things, a synagogue leader came and knelt before Him. “My daughter has just died,” he said. “But come and place Your hand on her, and she will live.”

¹⁹耶穌便起來跟著他去；門徒也跟了去。So Jesus got up and went with him, along with His disciples.

患血漏的女人

²⁰有一個女人，患了十二年的血漏，來到耶穌背後，摸他的衣裳繸子；Suddenly a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak.

²¹因為她心裡說：「我只摸他的衣裳，就必痊癒。」She said to herself, “If only I touch His cloak, I will be healed.”

²²耶穌轉過來，看見她，就說：「女兒，放心！你的信救了你。」從那時候，女人就痊癒了。Jesus turned and saw her. “Take courage, daughter,” He said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed from that very hour.

使閨女復活

²³耶穌到了管會堂的家裡，看見有吹手，又有許多人亂嚷，When Jesus entered the house of the synagogue leader, He saw the flute players and the noisy crowd.

²⁴就說：「退去吧！這閨女不是死了，是睡著了。」他們就嗤笑他。“Go away,” He told them. “The girl is not dead, but asleep.” And they laughed at Him.

²⁵眾人既被攆出，耶穌就進去，拉著閨女的手，閨女便起來了。After the crowd had been put outside, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.

²⁶於是這風聲傳遍了那地方。And the news about this spread throughout that region.

開兩個瞎子的眼睛

²⁷耶穌從那裡往前走，有兩個瞎子跟著他，喊叫說：「大衛的子孫，可憐我們吧！」As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

²⁸耶穌進了房子，瞎子就來到他跟前。耶穌說：「你們信我能做這事嗎？」他們說：「主啊，我們信。」After Jesus had entered the house, the blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “Yes, Lord,” they answered.

²⁹耶穌就摸他們的眼睛，說：「照著你們的信給你們成全了吧。」Then He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.”

³⁰他們的眼睛就開了。耶穌切切地囑咐他們說：「你們要小心，不可叫人知道。」And their eyes were opened. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one finds out about this!”

³¹他們出去，竟把他的名聲傳遍了那地方。But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout the land.

趕出啞巴的鬼

³²他們出去的時候，有人將鬼所附的一個啞巴帶到耶穌跟前來。As they were leaving, a demon-possessed man who was mute was brought to Jesus.

³³鬼被趕出去，啞巴就說出話來。眾人都希奇，說：「在以色列中，從來沒有見過這樣的事。」And when the demon had been driven out, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed and said, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!”

³⁴法利賽人卻說：「他是靠著鬼王趕鬼。」But the Pharisees said, “It is by the prince of demons that He drives out demons.”
