四王與五王交戰

¹當暗拉非作示拿王，亞略作以拉撒王，基大老瑪作以攔王，提達作戈印王的時候，In those days Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim

²他們都攻打所多瑪王比拉、蛾摩拉王比沙、押瑪王示納、洗扁王善以別，和比拉王；比拉就是瑣珥。went to war against Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).

³這五王都在西訂谷會合；西訂谷就是鹽海。The latter five came as allies to the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).

⁴他們已經事奉基大老瑪十二年，到十三年就背叛了。For twelve years they had been subject to Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

⁵十四年，基大老瑪和同盟的王都來在亞特律‧加寧，殺敗了利乏音人，在哈麥殺敗了蘇西人，在沙微‧基列亭殺敗了以米人，In the fourteenth year, Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him went out and defeated the Rephaites in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzites in Ham, the Emites in Shaveh-kiriathaim,

⁶在何利人的西珥山殺敗了何利人，一直殺到靠近曠野的伊勒‧巴蘭。and the Horites in the area of Mount Seir, as far as El-paran, which is near the desert.

⁷他們回到安‧密巴，就是加低斯，殺敗了亞瑪力全地的人，以及住在哈洗遜‧他瑪的亞摩利人。Then they turned back to invade En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and they conquered the whole territory of the Amalekites, as well as the Amorites who lived in Hazazon-tamar.

⁸於是所多瑪王、蛾摩拉王、押瑪王、洗扁王，和比拉王（比拉就是瑣珥）都出來，在西訂谷擺陣，與他們交戰，Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) marched out and arrayed themselves for battle in the Valley of Siddim

⁹就是與以攔王基大老瑪、戈印王提達、示拿王暗拉非、以拉撒王亞略交戰；乃是四王與五王交戰。against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of Goiim, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five.

¹⁰西訂谷有許多石漆坑。所多瑪王和蛾摩拉王逃跑，有掉在坑裡的，其餘的人都往山上逃跑。Now the Valley of Siddim was full of tar pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some men fell into the pits, but the survivors fled to the hill country.

¹¹四王就把所多瑪和蛾摩拉所有的財物，並一切的糧食都擄掠去了；The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food, and they went on their way.

羅得被擄

¹²又把亞伯蘭的姪兒羅得和羅得的財物擄掠去了。當時羅得正住在所多瑪。They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since Lot was living in Sodom.

亞伯蘭救回羅得

¹³有一個逃出來的人告訴希伯來人亞伯蘭；亞伯蘭正住在亞摩利人幔利的橡樹那裡。幔利和以實各並亞乃都是弟兄，曾與亞伯蘭聯盟。Then an escapee came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living near the Oaks of Mamre the Amorite, a brother of Eshcol and Aner, all of whom were bound by treaty to Abram.

¹⁴亞伯蘭聽見他姪兒被擄去，就率領他家裡生養的精練壯丁三百一十八人，直追到但，And when Abram heard that his relative had been captured, he mobilized the 318 trained men born in his household, and they set out in pursuit as far as Dan.

¹⁵便在夜間，自己同僕人分隊殺敗敵人，又追到大馬士革左邊的何把，During the night, Abram divided his forces and routed Chedorlaomer’s army, pursuing them as far as Hobah, north of Damascus.

¹⁶將被擄掠的一切財物奪回來，連他姪兒羅得和他的財物，以及婦女、人民也都奪回來。He retrieved all the goods, as well as his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the rest of the people.

所多瑪王出迎，麥基洗德祝福

¹⁷亞伯蘭殺敗基大老瑪和與他同盟的王回來的時候，所多瑪王出來，在沙微谷迎接他；沙微谷就是王谷。After Abram returned from defeating Chedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him in the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).

¹⁸又有撒冷王麥基洗德帶著餅和酒出來迎接；他是至高　神的祭司。Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine—since he was priest of God Most High—

¹⁹他為亞伯蘭祝福，說：「願天地的主、至高的　神賜福與亞伯蘭！and he blessed Abram and said: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

²⁰至高的　神把敵人交在你手裡，是應當稱頌的！」亞伯蘭就把所得的拿出十分之一來，給麥基洗德。and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of everything.

不拿所多瑪王的東西

²¹所多瑪王對亞伯蘭說：「你把人口給我，財物你自己拿去吧！」The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people, but take the goods for yourself.”

²²亞伯蘭對所多瑪王說：「我已經向天地的主─至高的　神耶和華起誓：But Abram replied to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

²³凡是你的東西，就是一根線、一根鞋帶，我都不拿，免得你說：『我使亞伯蘭富足！』that I will not accept even a thread, or a strap of a sandal, or anything that belongs to you, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’

²⁴只有僕人所吃的，並與我同行的亞乃、以實各、幔利所應得的分，可以任憑他們拿去。」I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share for the men who went with me—Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre. They may take their portion.”

我是你的盾牌

¹這事以後，耶和華在異象中有話對亞伯蘭說：「亞伯蘭，你不要懼怕！我是你的盾牌，必大大地賞賜你。」After these events, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

²亞伯蘭說：「主耶和華啊，我既無子，你還賜我甚麼呢？並且要承受我家業的是大馬士革人以利以謝。」But Abram replied, “O Lord GOD, what can You give me, since I remain childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?”

³亞伯蘭又說：「你沒有給我兒子；那生在我家中的人就是我的後嗣。」Abram continued, “Behold, You have given me no offspring, so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

⁴耶和華又有話對他說：「這人必不成為你的後嗣；你本身所生的才成為你的後嗣。」Then the word of the LORD came to Abram, saying, “This one will not be your heir, but one who comes from your own body will be your heir.”

⁵於是領他走到外邊，說：「你向天觀看，數算眾星，能數得過來嗎？」又對他說：「你的後裔將要如此。」And the LORD took him outside and said, “Now look to the heavens and count the stars, if you are able.” Then He told him, “So shall your offspring be.”

應許賜地，劈開牲畜立約

⁷耶和華又對他說：「我是耶和華，曾領你出了迦勒底的吾珥，為要將這地賜你為業。」The LORD also told him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”

⁸亞伯蘭說：「主耶和華啊，我怎能知道必得這地為業呢？」But Abram replied, “Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”

⁹他說：「你為我取一隻三年的母牛，一隻三年的母山羊，一隻三年的公綿羊，一隻斑鳩，一隻雛鴿。」And the LORD said to him, “Bring Me a heifer, a goat, and a ram, each three years old, along with a turtledove and a young pigeon.”

¹⁰亞伯蘭就取了這些來，每樣劈開，分成兩半，一半對著一半地擺列，只有鳥沒有劈開。So Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not cut in half.

¹¹有鷙鳥下來，落在那死畜的肉上，亞伯蘭就把牠嚇飛了。And the birds of prey descended on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.

沉睡中得知後裔要寄居外地

¹²日頭正落的時候，亞伯蘭沉沉地睡了；忽然有驚人的大黑暗落在他身上。As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and suddenly great terror and darkness overwhelmed him.

¹³耶和華對亞伯蘭說：「你要的確知道，你的後裔必寄居別人的地，又服事那地的人；那地的人要苦待他們四百年。Then the LORD said to Abram, “Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not their own, and they will be enslaved and mistreated four hundred years.

¹⁴並且他們所要服事的那國，我要懲罰，後來他們必帶著許多財物從那裡出來。But I will judge the nation they serve as slaves, and afterward they will depart with many possessions.

¹⁵但你要享大壽數，平平安安地歸到你列祖那裡，被人埋葬。You, however, will go to your fathers in peace and be buried at a ripe old age.

¹⁶到了第四代，他們必回到此地，因為亞摩利人的罪孽還沒有滿盈。」In the fourth generation your descendants will return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”

冒煙的爐和燒著的火把

¹⁷日落天黑，不料有冒煙的爐並燒著的火把從那些肉塊中經過。When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch appeared and passed between the halves of the carcasses.

¹⁹就是基尼人、基尼洗人、甲摩尼人、the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,

²⁰赫人、比利洗人、利乏音人、Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,

²¹亞摩利人、迦南人、革迦撒人、耶布斯人之地。」Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.”

撒萊把夏甲給亞伯蘭

¹亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊不給他生兒女。撒萊有一個使女，名叫夏甲，是埃及人。Now Abram’s wife Sarai had borne him no children, but she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar.

²撒萊對亞伯蘭說：「耶和華使我不能生育。求你和我的使女同房，或者我可以因她得孩子（得孩子：原文是被建立）」。亞伯蘭聽從了撒萊的話。So Sarai said to Abram, “Look now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please go to my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

³於是亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊將使女埃及人夏甲給了丈夫為妾；那時亞伯蘭在迦南已經住了十年。So after he had lived in Canaan for ten years, his wife Sarai took her Egyptian maidservant Hagar and gave her to Abram to be his wife.

⁴亞伯蘭與夏甲同房，夏甲就懷了孕；她見自己有孕，就小看她的主母。And he slept with Hagar, and she conceived. But when Hagar realized that she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress.

⁵撒萊對亞伯蘭說：「我因你受屈。我將我的使女放在你懷中，她見自己有了孕，就小看我。願耶和華在你我中間判斷。」Then Sarai said to Abram, “May the wrong done to me be upon you! I delivered my servant into your arms, and ever since she saw that she was pregnant, she has treated me with contempt. May the LORD judge between you and me.”

⁶亞伯蘭對撒萊說：「使女在你手下，你可以隨意待她。」撒萊苦待她，她就從撒萊面前逃走了。“Here,” said Abram, “your servant is in your hands. Do whatever you want with her.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she fled from her.

耶和華的使者遇見夏甲

⁷耶和華的使者在曠野書珥路上的水泉旁遇見她，Now the angel of the LORD found Hagar by a spring of water in the desert—the spring along the road to Shur.

⁸對她說：「撒萊的使女夏甲，你從哪裡來？要往哪裡去？」夏甲說：「我從我的主母撒萊面前逃出來。」“Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I am running away from my mistress Sarai,” she replied.

⁹耶和華的使者對她說：「你回到你主母那裡，服在她手下」；So the angel of the LORD told her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her authority.”

¹⁰又說：「我必使你的後裔極其繁多，甚至不可勝數」；Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”

¹¹並說：「你如今懷孕要生一個兒子，可以給他起名叫以實瑪利（就是神聽見的意思），因為耶和華聽見了你的苦情。The angel of the LORD proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard your cry of affliction.

¹²他為人必像野驢。他的手要攻打人，人的手也要攻打他；他必住在眾弟兄的東邊。」He will be a wild donkey of a man, and his hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand against him; he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”

¹³夏甲就稱那對她說話的耶和華為「看顧人的　神」。因而說：「在這裡我也看見那看顧我的嗎？」So Hagar gave this name to the LORD who had spoken to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “Here I have seen the One who sees me!”

¹⁴所以這井名叫庇耳‧拉海‧萊。這井正在加低斯和巴列中間。Therefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi. It is located between Kadesh and Bered.

以實瑪利出生

¹⁵後來夏甲給亞伯蘭生了一個兒子；亞伯蘭給他起名叫以實瑪利。And Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne.

¹⁶夏甲給亞伯蘭生以實瑪利的時候，亞伯蘭年八十六歲。Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to him.

來成全律法

¹⁷「莫想我來要廢掉律法和先知。我來不是要廢掉，乃是要成全。Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.

¹⁸我實在告訴你們，就是到天地都廢去了，律法的一點一畫也不能廢去，都要成全。For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth pass away, not a single jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

¹⁹所以，無論何人廢掉這誡命中最小的一條，又教訓人這樣做，他在天國要稱為最小的。但無論何人遵行這誡命，又教訓人遵行，他在天國要稱為大的。So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

不可殺人，不可動怒

²¹「你們聽見有吩咐古人的話，說：『不可殺人』；又說：『凡殺人的難免受審判。』You have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not murder’ and ‘Anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’

²²只是我告訴你們，凡（有古卷在凡字下加：無緣無故地）向弟兄動怒的，難免受審斷；凡罵弟兄是拉加的，難免公會的審斷；凡罵弟兄是魔利的，難免地獄的火。But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ will be subject to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be subject to the fire of hell.

先去同弟兄和好

²³所以，你在祭壇上獻禮物的時候，若想起弟兄向你懷怨，So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,

²⁴就把禮物留在壇前，先去同弟兄和好，然後來獻禮物。leave your gift there before the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

²⁵你同告你的對頭還在路上，就趕緊與他和息，恐怕他把你送給審判官，審判官交付衙役，你就下在監裡了。Reconcile quickly with your adversary, while you are still on the way to court. Otherwise, he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.

²⁶我實在告訴你，若有一文錢沒有還清，你斷不能從那裡出來。」Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.

不可姦淫

²⁷「你們聽見有話說：『不可姦淫。』You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’

²⁸只是我告訴你們，凡看見婦女就動淫念的，這人心裡已經與她犯姦淫了。But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

²⁹若是你的右眼叫你跌倒，就剜出來丟掉，寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身丟在地獄裡。If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

³⁰若是右手叫你跌倒，就砍下來丟掉，寧可失去百體中的一體，不叫全身下入地獄。」And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to depart into hell.

論休妻

³¹「又有話說：『人若休妻，就當給她休書。』It has also been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’

³²只是我告訴你們，凡休妻的，若不是為淫亂的緣故，就是叫她作淫婦了；人若娶這被休的婦人，也是犯姦淫了。」But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, brings adultery upon her. And he who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

不可起誓

³³「你們又聽見有吩咐古人的話，說：『不可背誓，所起的誓總要向主謹守。』Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, ‘Do not break your oath, but fulfill your vows to the Lord.’

³⁴只是我告訴你們，甚麼誓都不可起。不可指著天起誓，因為天是　神的座位；But I tell you not to swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

³⁵不可指著地起誓，因為地是他的腳凳；也不可指著耶路撒冷起誓，因為耶路撒冷是大君的京城；or by the earth, for it is His footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

³⁶又不可指著你的頭起誓，因為你不能使一根頭髮變黑變白了。Nor should you swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black.

³⁷你們的話，是，就說是；不是，就說不是；若再多說，就是出於那惡者（或譯：就是從惡裡出來的）。」Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ Anything more comes from the evil one.

以眼還眼

³⁸「你們聽見有話說：『以眼還眼，以牙還牙。』You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’

³⁹只是我告訴你們，不要與惡人作對。有人打你的右臉，連左臉也轉過來由他打；But I tell you not to resist an evil person. If someone slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also;

⁴⁰有人想要告你，要拿你的裡衣，連外衣也由他拿去；if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well;

⁴¹有人強逼你走一里路，你就同他走二里；and if someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

⁴²有求你的，就給他；有向你借貸的，不可推辭。」Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

⁴³「你們聽見有話說：『當愛你的鄰舍，恨你的仇敵。』You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘Hate your enemy.’

⁴⁴只是我告訴你們，要愛你們的仇敵，為那逼迫你們的禱告。But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

⁴⁵這樣就可以作你們天父的兒子；因為他叫日頭照好人，也照歹人；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

⁴⁶你們若單愛那愛你們的人，有甚麼賞賜呢？就是稅吏不也是這樣行嗎？If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even tax collectors do the same?

⁴⁷你們若單請你弟兄的安，比人有甚麼長處呢？就是外邦人不也是這樣行嗎？And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even Gentiles do the same?

⁴⁸所以，你們要完全，像你們的天父完全一樣。」Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
