不要嫉妒惡人

¹你不要嫉妒惡人，也不要起意與他們相處；Do not envy wicked men or desire their company;

²因為，他們的心圖謀強暴，他們的口談論奸惡。for their hearts devise violence, and their lips declare trouble.

用智慧建造房屋

³房屋因智慧建造，又因聰明立穩；By wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established;

⁴其中因知識充滿各樣美好寶貴的財物。through knowledge its rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure.

⁵智慧人大有能力；有知識的人力上加力。A wise man is strong, and a man of knowledge enhances his strength.

⁶你去打仗，要憑智謀；謀士眾多，人便得勝。Only with sound guidance should you wage war, and victory lies in a multitude of counselors.

⁷智慧極高，非愚昧人所能及，所以在城門內不敢開口。Wisdom is too high for a fool; he does not open his mouth in the meeting place.

設計作惡的人

⁸設計作惡的，必稱為奸人。He who plots evil will be called a schemer.

⁹愚妄人的思念乃是罪惡；褻慢者為人所憎惡。A foolish scheme is sin, and a mocker is detestable to men.

患難時不膽怯，要解救人

¹⁰你在患難之日若膽怯，你的力量就微小。If you faint in the day of distress, how small is your strength!

¹¹人被拉到死地，你要解救；人將被殺，你須攔阻。Rescue those being led away to death, and restrain those stumbling toward the slaughter.

¹²你若說：這事我未曾知道，那衡量人心的豈不明白嗎？保守你命的豈不知道嗎？他豈不按各人所行的報應各人嗎？If you say, “Behold, we did not know about this,” does not He who weighs hearts consider it? Does not the One who guards your life know? Will He not repay a man according to his deeds?

智慧如蜜

¹³我兒，你要吃蜜，因為是好的；吃蜂房下滴的蜜便覺甘甜。Eat honey, my son, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to your taste.

¹⁴你心得了智慧，也必覺得如此。你若找著，至終必有善報；你的指望也不致斷絕。Know therefore that wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, there is a future for you, and your hope will never be cut off.

義人七次跌倒仍必興起

¹⁵你這惡人，不要埋伏攻擊義人的家；不要毀壞他安居之所。Do not lie in wait, O wicked man, near the dwelling of the righteous; do not destroy his resting place.

¹⁶因為，義人雖七次跌倒，仍必興起；惡人卻被禍患傾倒。For though a righteous man may fall seven times, he still gets up; but the wicked stumble in bad times.

仇敵跌倒不要歡喜

¹⁷你仇敵跌倒，你不要歡喜；他傾倒，你心不要快樂；Do not gloat when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart rejoice when he stumbles,

¹⁸恐怕耶和華看見就不喜悅，將怒氣從仇敵身上轉過來。or the LORD will see and disapprove, and turn His wrath away from him.

¹⁹不要為作惡的心懷不平，也不要嫉妒惡人；Do not fret over evildoers, and do not be envious of the wicked.

²⁰因為，惡人終不得善報；惡人的燈也必熄滅。For the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.

敬畏耶和華與君王

²¹我兒，你要敬畏耶和華與君王，不要與反覆無常的人結交，My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not associate with the rebellious.

²²因為他們的災難必忽然而起。耶和華與君王所施行的毀滅，誰能知道呢？For they will bring sudden destruction. Who knows what ruin they can bring?

審判不可看情面

²³以下也是智慧人的箴言：審判時看人情面是不好的。These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judgment is not good.

²⁴對惡人說「你是義人」的，這人萬民必咒詛，列邦必憎惡。Whoever tells the guilty, “You are innocent”—peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce him;

²⁵責備惡人的，必得喜悅；美好的福也必臨到他。but it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.

²⁶應對正直的，猶如與人親嘴。An honest answer given is like a kiss on the lips.

先預備工料再建造

²⁷你要在外頭預備工料，在田間辦理整齊，然後建造房屋。Complete your outdoor work and prepare your field; after that, you may build your house.

不可作假見證，不可報復

²⁸不可無故作見證陷害鄰舍，也不可用嘴欺騙人。Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips.

²⁹不可說：人怎樣待我，我也怎樣待他；我必照他所行的報復他。Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will repay the man according to his work.”

懶惰人的田地

³⁰我經過懶惰人的田地、無知人的葡萄園，I went past the field of a slacker and by the vineyard of a man lacking judgment.

³¹荊棘長滿了地皮，刺草遮蓋了田面，石牆也坍塌了。Thorns had grown up everywhere, thistles had covered the ground, and the stone wall was broken down.

³²我看見就留心思想；我看著就領了訓誨。I observed and took it to heart; I looked and received instruction:

³³再睡片時，打盹片時，抱著手躺臥片時，A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest,

³⁴你的貧窮就必如強盜速來，你的缺乏彷彿拿兵器的人來到。and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and need like a bandit.

預備妥當，免得落空

¹論到供給聖徒的事，我不必寫信給你們；Now about the service to the saints, there is no need for me to write to you.

²因為我知道你們樂意的心，常對馬其頓人誇獎你們，說亞該亞人預備好了，已經有一年了；並且你們的熱心激動了許多人。For I know your eagerness to help, and I have been boasting to the Macedonians that since last year you in Achaia were prepared to give. And your zeal has stirred most of them to do likewise.

³但我打發那幾位弟兄去，要叫你們照我的話預備妥當，免得我們在這事上誇獎你們的話落了空。But I am sending the brothers in order that our boasting about you in this matter should not prove empty, but that you will be prepared, just as I said.

⁴萬一有馬其頓人與我同去，見你們沒有預備，就叫我們所確信的，反成了羞愧；你們羞愧，更不用說了。Otherwise, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we—to say nothing of you—would be ashamed of having been so confident.

⁵因此，我想不得不求那幾位弟兄先到你們那裡去，把從前所應許的捐貲預備妥當，就顯出你們所捐的是出於樂意，不是出於勉強。So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to visit you beforehand and make arrangements for the generous gift you had promised. This way, your gift will be prepared generously and not begrudgingly.

少種少收，多種多收

⁶「少種的少收，多種的多收」，這話是真的。Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

⁷各人要隨本心所酌定的，不要作難，不要勉強，因為捐得樂意的人是　神所喜愛的。Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not out of regret or compulsion. For God loves a cheerful giver.

神能使你們凡事充足

⁸神能將各樣的恩惠多多地加給你們，使你們凡事常常充足，能多行各樣善事。And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

⁹如經上所記：他施捨錢財，賙濟貧窮；他的仁義存到永遠。As it is written: “He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.”

¹⁰那賜種給撒種的，賜糧給人吃的，必多多加給你們種地的種子，又增添你們仁義的果子；Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness.

¹¹叫你們凡事富足，可以多多施捨，就藉著我們使感謝歸於　神。You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will produce thanksgiving to God.

捐獻帶來感謝

¹²因為辦這供給的事，不但補聖徒的缺乏，而且叫許多人越發感謝　神。For this ministry of service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanksgiving to God.

¹³他們從這供給的事上得了憑據，知道你們承認基督順服他的福音，多多地捐錢給他們和眾人，便將榮耀歸與　神。Because of the proof this ministry provides, the saints will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for the generosity of your contribution to them and to all the others.

¹⁴他們也因　神極大的恩賜顯在你們心裡，就切切地想念你們，為你們祈禱。And their prayers for you will express their affection for you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.

¹⁵感謝　神，因他有說不盡的恩賜！Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
