人的善惡增減不了神甚麼

¹以利戶又說：And Elihu went on to say:

²你以為有理，或以為你的公義勝於　神的公義，“Do you think this is just? You say, ‘I am more righteous than God.’

³才說這與我有甚麼益處？我不犯罪比犯罪有甚麼好處呢？For you ask, ‘What does it profit me, and what benefit do I gain apart from sin?’

⁴我要回答你和在你這裡的朋友。I will reply to you and to your friends as well.

⁵你要向天觀看，瞻望那高於你的穹蒼。Look to the heavens and see; gaze at the clouds high above you.

⁶你若犯罪，能使　神受何害呢？你的過犯加增，能使　神受何損呢？If you sin, what do you accomplish against Him? If you multiply your transgressions, what do you do to Him?

⁷你若是公義，還能加增他甚麼呢？他從你手裡還接受甚麼呢？If you are righteous, what do you give Him, or what does He receive from your hand?

⁸你的過惡或能害你這類的人；你的公義或能叫世人得益處。Your wickedness affects only a man like yourself, and your righteousness only a son of man.

受欺壓的人為何得不著回應

⁹人因多受欺壓就哀求，因受能者的轄制（原文是膀臂）便求救，Men cry out under great oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the mighty.

¹⁰卻無人說：造我的　神在哪裡？他使人夜間歌唱，But no one asks, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives us songs in the night,

¹¹教訓我們勝於地上的走獸，使我們有聰明勝於空中的飛鳥。who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’

¹²他們在那裡，因惡人的驕傲呼求，卻無人答應。There they cry out, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evil men.

¹³虛妄的呼求，　神必不垂聽；全能者也必不眷顧。Surely God does not listen to empty pleas, and the Almighty does not take note of it.

¹⁴何況你說，你不得見他；你的案件在他面前，你等候他吧。How much less, then, when you say that you do not see Him, that your case is before Him and you must wait for Him,

¹⁵但如今因他未曾發怒降罰，也不甚理會狂傲，and further, that in His anger He has not punished or taken much notice of folly!

¹⁶所以約伯開口說虛妄的話，多發無知識的言語。So Job opens his mouth in vain and multiplies words without knowledge.”

以利戶還要為神說話

¹以利戶又接著說：And Elihu continued:

²你再容我片時，我就指示你，因我還有話為　神說。“Bear with me a little longer, and I will show you that there is more to be said on God’s behalf.

³我要將所知道的從遠處引來，將公義歸給造我的主。I get my knowledge from afar, and I will ascribe justice to my Maker.

⁴我的言語真不虛謊；有知識全備的與你同在。For truly my words are free of falsehood; one perfect in knowledge is with you.

神藉著困苦開通人的耳朵

⁵神有大能，並不藐視人；他的智慧甚廣。Indeed, God is mighty, but He despises no one; He is mighty in strength of understanding.

⁶他不保護惡人的性命，卻為困苦人伸冤。He does not keep the wicked alive, but He grants justice to the afflicted.

⁷他時常看顧義人，使他們和君王同坐寶座，永遠要被高舉。He does not take His eyes off the righteous, but He enthrones them with kings and exalts them forever.

⁸他們若被鎖鍊捆住，被苦難的繩索纏住，And if men are bound with chains, caught in cords of affliction,

⁹他就把他們的作為和過犯指示他們，叫他們知道有驕傲的行動。then He tells them their deeds and how arrogantly they have transgressed.

¹⁰他也開通他們的耳朵得受教訓，吩咐他們離開罪孽轉回。He opens their ears to correction and commands that they turn from iniquity.

¹¹他們若聽從事奉他，就必度日亨通，歷年福樂；If they obey and serve Him, then they end their days in prosperity and their years in happiness.

¹²若不聽從，就要被刀殺滅，無知無識而死。But if they do not obey, then they perish by the sword and die without knowledge.

¹³那心中不敬虔的人積蓄怒氣；　神捆綁他們，他們竟不求救；The godless in heart harbor resentment; even when He binds them, they do not cry for help.

¹⁴必在青年時死亡，與污穢人一樣喪命。They die in their youth, among the male shrine prostitutes.

¹⁵神藉著困苦救拔困苦人，趁他們受欺壓開通他們的耳朵。God rescues the afflicted by their affliction and opens their ears in oppression.

勸約伯不要偏向罪孽

¹⁶神也必引你出離患難，進入寬闊不狹窄之地；擺在你席上的必滿有肥甘。Indeed, He drew you from the jaws of distress to a spacious and broad place, to a table full of richness.

¹⁷但你滿口有惡人批評的言語；判斷和刑罰抓住你。But now you are laden with the judgment due the wicked; judgment and justice have seized you.

¹⁸不可容忿怒觸動你，使你不服責罰；也不可因贖價大就偏行。Be careful that no one lures you with riches; do not let a large bribe lead you astray.

¹⁹你的呼求（或譯：資財），或是你一切的勢力，果有靈驗，叫你不受患難嗎？Can your wealth or all your mighty effort keep you from distress?

²⁰不要切慕黑夜，就是眾民在本處被除滅的時候。Do not long for the night, when people vanish from their homes.

²¹你要謹慎，不可重看罪孽，因你選擇罪孽過於選擇苦難。Be careful not to turn to iniquity, for this you have preferred to affliction.

誰能像神教訓人

²²神行事有高大的能力；教訓人的有誰像他呢？Behold, God is exalted in His power. Who is a teacher like Him?

²³誰派定他的道路？誰能說：你所行的不義？Who has appointed His way for Him, or told Him, ‘You have done wrong’?

²⁴你不可忘記稱讚他所行的為大，就是人所歌頌的。Remember to magnify His work, which men have praised in song.

²⁵他所行的，萬人都看見；世人也從遠處觀看。All mankind has seen it; men behold it from afar.

神吸取水點、降下雨水

²⁶神為大，我們不能全知；他的年數不能測度。Indeed, God is great—beyond our knowledge; the number of His years is unsearchable.

²⁷他吸取水點，這水點從雲霧中就變成雨；For He draws up drops of water which distill the rain from the mist,

²⁸雲彩將雨落下，沛然降與世人。which the clouds pour out and shower abundantly on mankind.

²⁹誰能明白雲彩如何鋪張，和　神行宮的雷聲呢？Furthermore, who can understand how the clouds spread out, how the thunder roars from His pavilion?

³⁰他將亮光普照在自己的四圍；他又遮覆海底。See how He scatters His lightning around Him and covers the depths of the sea.

³¹他用這些審判眾民，且賜豐富的糧食。For by these He judges the nations and provides food in abundance.

³²他以電光遮手，命閃電擊中敵人（或譯：中了靶子）。He fills His hands with lightning and commands it to strike its mark.

³³所發的雷聲顯明他的作為，又向牲畜指明要起暴風。The thunder declares His presence; even the cattle regard the rising storm.

神轟轟的雷聲

¹因此我心戰兢，從原處移動。“At this my heart also pounds and leaps from its place.

²聽啊，　神轟轟的聲音是他口中所發的響聲。Listen closely to the thunder of His voice and the rumbling that comes from His mouth.

³他發響聲震遍天下，發電光閃到地極。He unleashes His lightning beneath the whole sky and sends it to the ends of the earth.

⁴隨後人聽見有雷聲轟轟，大發威嚴，雷電接連不斷。Then there comes a roaring sound; He thunders with His majestic voice. He does not restrain the lightning when His voice resounds.

⁵神發出奇妙的雷聲；他行大事，我們不能測透。God thunders wondrously with His voice; He does great things we cannot comprehend.

冰雪風雲都聽祂吩咐

⁶他對雪說：要降在地上；對大雨和暴雨也是這樣說。For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the gentle rain, ‘Pour out a mighty downpour.’

⁷他封住各人的手，叫所造的萬人都曉得他的作為。He seals up the hand of every man, so that all men may know His work.

⁸百獸進入穴中，臥在洞內。The wild animals enter their lairs; they settle down in their dens.

⁹暴風出於南宮；寒冷出於北方。The tempest comes from its chamber, and the cold from the driving north winds.

¹⁰神噓氣成冰；寬闊之水也都凝結。By the breath of God the ice is formed and the watery expanses are frozen.

¹¹他使密雲盛滿水氣，布散電光之雲；He loads the clouds with moisture; He scatters His lightning through them.

¹²這雲是藉他的指引游行旋轉，得以在全地面上行他一切所吩咐的，They swirl about, whirling at His direction, accomplishing all that He commands over the face of all the earth.

¹³或為責罰，或為潤地，或為施行慈愛。Whether for punishment or for His land, He accomplishes this in His loving devotion.

約伯啊，要站立思想

¹⁴約伯啊，你要留心聽，要站立思想　神奇妙的作為。Listen to this, O Job; stand still and consider the wonders of God.

¹⁵神如何吩咐這些，如何使雲中的電光照耀，你知道嗎？Do you know how God dispatches the clouds or makes the lightning flash?

¹⁶雲彩如何浮於空中，那知識全備者奇妙的作為，你知道嗎？Do you understand how the clouds float, those wonders of Him who is perfect in knowledge?

¹⁷南風使地寂靜，你的衣服就如火熱，你知道嗎？You whose clothes get hot when the land lies hushed under the south wind,

¹⁸你豈能與　神同鋪穹蒼嗎？這穹蒼堅硬，如同鑄成的鏡子。can you, like Him, spread out the skies, as strong as a mirror of bronze?

¹⁹我們愚昧不能陳說；請你指教我們該對他說甚麼話。Teach us what we should say to Him; we cannot draw up our case because of our darkness.

²⁰人豈可說：我願與他說話？豈有人自願滅亡嗎？Should He be told that I want to speak? Would a man ask to be swallowed up?

全能者，我們不能測度

²¹現在有雲遮蔽，人不得見穹蒼的光亮；但風吹過，天又發晴。Now no one can gaze at the sun when it is bright in the skies after the wind has swept them clean.

²²金光出於北方，在　神那裡有可怕的威嚴。Out of the north He comes in golden splendor; awesome majesty surrounds Him.

²³論到全能者，我們不能測度；他大有能力，有公平和大義，必不苦待人。The Almighty is beyond our reach; He is exalted in power! In His justice and great righteousness He does not oppress.

²⁴所以，人敬畏他；凡自以為心中有智慧的人，他都不顧念。Therefore, men fear Him, for He is not partial to the wise in heart.”

論斷人的也無可推諉

¹你這論斷人的，無論你是誰，也無可推諉。你在甚麼事上論斷人，就在甚麼事上定自己的罪；因你這論斷人的，自己所行卻和別人一樣。You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on another. For on whatever grounds you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

²我們知道這樣行的人，　神必照真理審判他。And we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.

³你這人哪，你論斷行這樣事的人，自己所行的卻和別人一樣，你以為能逃脫　神的審判嗎？So when you, O man, pass judgment on others, yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

神的恩慈領人悔改

⁴還是你藐視他豐富的恩慈、寬容、忍耐，不曉得他的恩慈是領你悔改呢？Or do you disregard the riches of His kindness, tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

⁵你竟任著你剛硬不悔改的心，為自己積蓄忿怒，以致　神震怒，顯他公義審判的日子來到。But because of your hard and unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of wrath, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.

照各人的行為報應

⁶他必照各人的行為報應各人。God “will repay each one according to his deeds.”

⁷凡恆心行善、尋求榮耀、尊貴和不能朽壞之福的，就以永生報應他們；To those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life.

⁸惟有結黨、不順從真理、反順從不義的，就以忿怒、惱恨報應他們；But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow wickedness, there will be wrath and anger.

⁹將患難、困苦加給一切作惡的人，先是猶太人，後是希臘人，There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil, first for the Jew, then for the Greek;

¹⁰卻將榮耀、尊貴、平安加給一切行善的人，先是猶太人，後是希臘人。but glory, honor, and peace for everyone who does good, first for the Jew, then for the Greek.

¹¹因為　神不偏待人。For God does not show favoritism.

有律法和沒有律法的人

¹²凡沒有律法犯了罪的，也必不按律法滅亡；凡在律法以下犯了罪的，也必按律法受審判。All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.

¹³（原來在　神面前，不是聽律法的為義，乃是行律法的稱義。For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but it is the doers of the law who will be declared righteous.

良心作見證

¹⁴沒有律法的外邦人若順著本性行律法上的事，他們雖然沒有律法，自己就是自己的律法。Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law.

¹⁵這是顯出律法的功用刻在他們心裡，他們是非之心同作見證，並且他們的思念互相較量，或以為是，或以為非。）So they show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts either accusing or defending them

¹⁶就在　神藉耶穌基督審判人隱祕事的日子，照著我的福音所言。on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Christ Jesus, as proclaimed by my gospel.
