1此后，大卫攻打非利士人，把他们治服，从他们手下夺取了（原文是母城的嚼环）；Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Metheg-ammah from the hand of the Philistines.
2又攻打摩押人，使他们躺卧在地上，：量二绳的杀了，量一绳的存留。摩押人就归服大卫，给他。David also defeated the Moabites, made them lie down on the ground, and measured them off with a cord. He measured off with two lengths those to be put to death, and with one length those to be spared. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.
3王利合的儿子哈大底谢往大河去，要夺回他的国权。大卫就攻打他，David also defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah, who had marched out to restore his dominion along the Euphrates River.
4擒拿了他的马兵一千七百，步兵二万，将拉战车的马，但留下一百辆车的马。David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
5大马士革的来帮助琐巴王哈大底谢，大卫就杀了亚兰人二万二千。When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of their men.
6于是大卫在大马士革的亚兰地设立，亚兰人就归服他，给他进贡。大卫无论往哪里去，耶和华都使他得胜。Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
7他夺了哈大底谢臣仆所拿的金盾牌，带到耶路撒冷。And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.
8大卫王又从属哈大底谢的比他和比罗他城中夺取了许多的铜。And from Betah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a large amount of bronze.
9哈马王陀以听见大卫杀败哈大底谢的全军，When King Toi of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer,
10就打发他儿子约兰去见大卫王，问他的安，为他祝福，因为他杀败了哈大底谢（原来陀以与哈大底谢常常争战）。约兰带了金银铜的器皿来，he sent his son Joram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Toi. Joram brought with him articles of silver and gold and bronze,
11大卫王将这些器皿和他治服各国所得来的金银都，献给耶和华，and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had dedicated from all the nations he had subdued—
12就是从亚兰、摩押、亚扪、非利士、亚玛力人所得来的，以及从琐巴王利合的儿子哈大底谢所掠之物。from Edom and Moab, from the Ammonites and Philistines and Amalekites, and from the spoil of Hadadezer son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13大卫在击杀了亚兰（或译：以东，见诗篇六十篇诗题）一万八千人回来，就得了大名；And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
14又在以东全地设立防营，以东人就都归服大卫。大卫无论往哪里去，耶和华都使他得胜。He placed garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites were subject to David. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went.
15大卫作以色列众人的王，又向众民秉公行义。Thus David reigned over all Israel and administered justice and righteousness for all his people:
16洗鲁雅的儿子约押作元帅；亚希律的儿子约沙法作；Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was the recorder;
17亚希突的儿子和亚比亚他的儿子亚希米勒作祭司长；西莱雅作；Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was the scribe;
18耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅统辖。大卫的众子都作领袖。Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priestly leaders.
