1以下是大卫末了的话。耶西的儿子大卫得居高位，是雅各 神所膏的，作以色列的，说：These are the last words of David: “The oracle of David son of Jesse, the oracle of the man raised on high, the one anointed by the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel:
2耶和华的灵借着我说：他的话在我口中。The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; His word was on my tongue.
3以色列的 神、以色列的磐石晓谕我说：那以公义治理人民的，敬畏 神执掌权柄，The God of Israel spoke; the Rock of Israel said to me, ‘He who rules the people with justice, who rules in the fear of God,
4他必像日出的晨光，如无云的清晨，雨后的晴光，使地发生嫩草。is like the light of the morning at sunrise of a cloudless dawn, the glistening after the rain on the sprouting grass of the earth.’
5我家在 神面前并非如此； 神却与我立永远的约。这约凡事坚稳，关乎我的一切救恩和我一切所想望的，他岂不为我成就吗？Is not my house right with God? For He has established with me an everlasting covenant, ordered and secured in every part. Will He not bring about my full salvation and my every desire?
6但匪类都必像荆棘被丢弃；人不敢用手拿它；But the worthless are all like thorns raked aside, for they can never be gathered by hand.
7拿它的人必带铁器和枪杆，终久它必被火焚烧。The man who touches them must be armed with iron or with the shaft of a spear. The fire burns them to ashes in the place where they lie.”
8大卫勇士的名字记在下面：他革扪人约设·巴设，又称伊斯尼人亚底挪，他是军长的统领，一时击杀了八百人。These are the names of David’s mighty men: Josheb-basshebeth the Tahchemonite was chief of the Three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed at one time.
9其次是亚合人朵多的儿子以利亚撒。从前非利士人聚集要打仗，以色列人迎着上去，有跟随大卫的三个勇士向非利士人骂阵，其中有以利亚撒。Next in command was Eleazar son of Dodo the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he went with David to taunt the Philistines who had gathered for battle at Pas-dammim. The men of Israel retreated,
10他起来击杀非利士人，直到手臂疲乏，。那日耶和华使以色列人大获全胜；众民在以利亚撒后头专夺财物。but Eleazar stood his ground and struck the Philistines until his hand grew weary and stuck to his sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. Then the troops returned to him, but only to plunder the dead.
11其次是哈拉人亚基的儿子沙玛。一日，非利士人聚集成群，在一块长满的田里，众民就在非利士人面前逃跑。And after him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines had banded together near a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them.
12沙玛却站在那田间击杀非利士人，救护了那田。耶和华使以色列人大获全胜。But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field, defended it, and struck down the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.
13收割的时候，有三十个勇士中的三个人下到见大卫。非利士的军兵在安营。At harvest time, three of the thirty chief men went down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a company of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim.
14那时大卫在山寨，非利士人的防营在伯利恒。At that time David was in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was at Bethlehem.
15大卫渴想，说：“甚愿有人将伯利恒城门旁、井里的水打来给我喝。”David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!”
16这三个勇士就闯过非利士人的营盘，从伯利恒城门旁的井里打水，拿来奉给大卫。他却不肯喝，将水在耶和华面前，So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine camp, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,
17说：“耶和华啊，这三个人冒死去打水；这水好像他们的血一般，我断不敢喝。”如此，大卫不肯喝。这是三个勇士所做的事。saying, “Far be it from me, O LORD, to do this! Is this not the blood of the men who risked their lives?” So he refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.
18洗鲁雅的儿子、约押的兄弟亚比筛是这三个勇士的首领；他举枪杀了三百人，就在三个勇士里得了名。Now Abishai, the brother of Joab and son of Zeruiah, was chief of the Three, and he wielded his spear against three hundred men, killed them, and won a name along with the Three.
19他在这三个勇士里是最尊贵的，所以作他们的首领，只是不及前三个勇士。Was he not more honored than the Three? And he became their commander, even though he was not included among the Three.
20有甲薛勇士耶何耶大的儿子行过大能的事；他杀了摩押人亚利伊勒的两个儿子，又在下雪的时候下坑里去，杀了一个狮子，And Benaiah son of Jehoiada was a man of valor from Kabzeel, a man of many exploits. He struck down two champions of Moab, and on a snowy day he went down into a pit and killed a lion.
21又杀了一个强壮的埃及人；埃及人手里拿着枪，比拿雅只拿着棍子下去，从埃及人手里夺过枪来，用那枪将他杀死。He also struck down an Egyptian, a huge man. Although the Egyptian had a spear in his hand, Benaiah went against him with a club, snatched the spear from his hand, and killed the Egyptian with his own spear.
22这是耶何耶大的儿子比拿雅所行的事，就在三个勇士里得了名。These were the exploits of Benaiah son of Jehoiada, who won a name along with the three mighty men.
23他比那三十个勇士都尊贵，只是不及前三个勇士。大卫立他作护卫长。He was most honored among the Thirty, but he did not become one of the Three. And David appointed him over his guard.
24三十个勇士里有约押的兄弟亚撒黑，伯利恒人朵多的儿子伊勒哈难，Now these were members of the Thirty: Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
25哈律人沙玛，哈律人以利加，Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
26帕勒提人希利斯，提哥亚人益吉的儿子以拉，Helez the Paltite, Ira son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
27亚拿突人亚比以谢，户沙人米本乃，Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,
28亚合人撒们，尼陀法人玛哈莱，Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
29尼陀法人巴拿的儿子希立，便雅悯族、基比亚人利拜的儿子以太，Heled son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai son of Ribai from Gibeah of the Benjamites,
30比拉顿人比拿雅，迦实溪人希太，Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai from the brooks of Gaash,
31伯亚拉巴人亚比亚本，巴鲁米人押斯玛弗，Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,
32沙本人以利雅哈巴，雅善儿子中的约拿单，Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan
33哈拉人沙玛，哈拉人沙拉的儿子亚希暗，son of Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam son of Sharar the Hararite,

37亚扪人洗勒，比录人拿哈莱（是给洗鲁雅的儿子约押拿兵器的），Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, the armor-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah,
38以帖人以拉，以帖人迦立，Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
39，共有三十七人。and Uriah the Hittite. There were thirty-seven in all.
