1这的事以后，亚述王来侵入犹大，围困一切坚固城，想要攻破占据。After all these acts of faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and invaded Judah. He laid siege to the fortified cities, intending to conquer them for himself.
2希西家见西拿基立来，定意要攻打耶路撒冷，When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come to make war against Jerusalem,
3就与首领和勇士商议，塞住城外的泉源；他们就都帮助他。he consulted with his leaders and mighty men about stopping up the waters of the springs outside the city, and they helped him carry it out.
4于是有许多人聚集，塞了一切泉源，并通流国中的小河，说：“亚述王来，为何让他得着许多水呢？”Many people assembled and stopped up all the springs and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” they said.
5希西家力图自强，就修筑所有拆毁的城墙，高与城楼相齐；在城外又筑一城，坚固大卫城的，制造了许多军器、盾牌；Then Hezekiah worked resolutely to rebuild all the broken sections of the wall and to raise up towers on it. He also built an outer wall and reinforced the supporting terraces of the City of David, and he produced an abundance of weapons and shields.
6设立军长管理百姓，将他们招聚在城门的宽阔处，用话勉励他们，说：Hezekiah appointed military commanders over the people and gathered the people in the square of the city gate. Then he encouraged them, saying,
7“你们当刚强壮胆，不要因亚述王和跟随他的大军恐惧、惊慌；因为与我们同在的，比与他们同在的更大。“Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged before the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater One with us than with him.
8与他们同在的是，与我们同在的是耶和华—我们的 神，他必帮助我们，为我们争战。”百姓就靠犹大王希西家的话，安然无惧了。With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles.” So the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
9此后，亚述王西拿基立和他的全军攻打，就差遣臣仆到耶路撒冷见犹大王希西家和一切在耶路撒冷的犹大人，说：Later, as Sennacherib king of Assyria and all his forces besieged Lachish, he sent his servants to Jerusalem with a message for King Hezekiah of Judah and all the people of Judah who were in Jerusalem:
10“亚述王西拿基立如此说：‘你们倚靠什么，还在耶路撒冷受困呢？“This is what Sennacherib king of Assyria says: What is the basis of your confidence, that you remain in Jerusalem under siege?
11希西家对你们说“耶和华—我们的 神必救我们脱离亚述王的手”，这不是诱惑你们，使你们受饥渴而死吗？Is not Hezekiah misleading you to give you over to death by famine and thirst when he says, ‘The LORD our God will deliver us from the hand of the king of Assyria?’
12这希西家岂不是废去耶和华的邱坛和祭坛，吩咐犹大与耶路撒冷的人说“你们当在一个坛前敬拜，在其上烧香”吗？Did not Hezekiah himself remove His high places and His altars and say to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before one altar, and on it you shall burn sacrifices’?
13我与我列祖向列邦所行的，你们岂不知道吗？列邦的神何尝能救自己的国脱离我手呢？Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Have the gods of these nations ever been able to deliver their land from my hand?
14我列祖所灭的国，那些神中谁能救自己的民脱离我手呢？难道你们的神能救你们脱离我手吗？Who among all the gods of these nations that my fathers devoted to destruction has been able to deliver his people from my hand? How then can your God deliver you from my hand?
15所以你们不要叫希西家这样诱惑你们，也不要信他；因为没有一国一邦的神能救自己的民脱离我手和我列祖的手，何况你们的神更不能救你们脱离我的手。’”So now, do not let Hezekiah deceive you, and do not let him mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or from the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you from my hand!”
16西拿基立的臣仆还有别的话毁谤耶和华 神和他仆人希西家。And the servants of Sennacherib spoke further against the LORD God and against His servant Hezekiah.
17西拿基立也写信毁谤耶和华—以色列的 神说：“列邦的神既不能救他的民脱离我手，希西家的神也不能救他的民脱离我手了。”He also wrote letters mocking the LORD, the God of Israel, and saying against Him: “Just as the gods of the nations did not deliver their people from my hand, so the God of Hezekiah will not deliver His people from my hand.”
18亚述王的臣仆用犹大言语向耶路撒冷城上的民大声呼叫，要惊吓他们，扰乱他们，以便取城。Then the Assyrians called out loudly in Hebrew to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten and terrify them in order to capture the city.
19他们论耶路撒冷的 神，如同论世上人手所造的神一样。They spoke against the God of Jerusalem as they had spoken against the gods of the peoples of the earth—the work of human hands.
20希西家王和亚摩斯的儿子先知以赛亚因此祷告，向天呼求。In response, King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out to heaven in prayer,
21耶和华就差遣一个使者进入亚述王营中，把所有大能的勇士和官长、将帅尽都灭了。亚述王地回到本国，进了他神的庙中，有他亲生的儿子在那里用刀杀了他。and the LORD sent an angel who annihilated every mighty man of valor and every leader and commander in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons struck him down with the sword.
22这样，耶和华救希西家和耶路撒冷的居民脱离亚述王西拿基立的手，也脱离一切仇敌的手，又赐他们四境平安。So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem from the hands of King Sennacherib of Assyria and all others, and He gave them rest on every side.
23有许多人到耶路撒冷，将供物献与耶和华，又将宝物送给犹大王希西家。此后，希西家在列邦人的眼中看为。Many brought offerings to Jerusalem for the LORD and valuable gifts for Hezekiah king of Judah, and from then on he was exalted in the eyes of all nations.
24那时希西家病得要死，就祷告耶和华，耶和华应允他，赐他一个。In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. So he prayed to the LORD, who spoke to him and gave him a sign.
25希西家却没有照他所蒙的恩报答耶和华；因他心里骄傲，所以忿怒要临到他和犹大并耶路撒冷。But because his heart was proud, Hezekiah did not repay the favor shown to him. Therefore wrath came upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem.
26但希西家和耶路撒冷的居民觉得心里骄傲，就一同自卑，以致耶和华的忿怒在希西家的日子没有临到他们。Then Hezekiah humbled the pride of his heart—he and the people of Jerusalem—so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them during the days of Hezekiah.
27希西家大有尊荣资财，建造府库，收藏金银、宝石、香料、盾牌，和各样的宝器，Hezekiah had very great riches and honor, and he made treasuries for his silver, gold, precious stones, spices, shields, and all kinds of valuable articles.
28又建造仓房，收藏五谷、新酒，和油，又为各类牲畜盖棚立圈；He also made storehouses for the harvest of grain and new wine and oil, stalls for all kinds of livestock, and pens for the flocks.
29并且建立城邑，还有许多的羊群牛群，因为 神赐他极多的财产。He made cities for himself, and he acquired herds of sheep and cattle in abundance, for God gave him very great wealth.
30这希西家也塞住的上源，引水直下，流在大卫城的西边。希西家所行的事尽都亨通。It was Hezekiah who blocked the upper outlet of the Spring of Gihon and channeled it down to the west side of the City of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all that he did.
31惟有一件事，就是王差遣使者来见希西家，访问国中所现的奇事；这件事 神离开他，要试验他，好知道他心内如何。And so when ambassadors of the rulers of Babylon were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone to test him, that He might know all that was in Hezekiah’s heart.
32希西家其余的事和他的善行都写在亚摩斯的儿子先知的默示书上和犹大、以色列的诸王记上。As for the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his deeds of loving devotion, they are indeed written in the vision of the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.
33希西家与他列祖同睡，葬在大卫子孙的上。他死的时候，犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民都尊敬他。他儿子玛拿西接续他作王。And Hezekiah rested with his fathers and was buried in the upper tombs of David’s descendants. All Judah and the people of Jerusalem paid him honor at his death. And his son Manasseh reigned in his place.
