书卷介绍：约翰一书一般书信
神就是光，神就是爱，信靠祂儿子的人确知自己有永生。
当时有人离开教会，教导错误的道理，否认耶稣是成了肉身的基督。约翰写这封信，帮助信徒分辨真假，并确信自己的救恩。他说明真正认识神的人会行在光明中、遵守神的命令、彼此相爱。约翰一再强调“神就是爱”，并说他写这信是要叫信神儿子之名的人知道自己有永生。

1论到从起初原有的，就是我们所听见、所看见、亲眼看过、亲手的。That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2（这生命已经显现出来，我们也看见过，现在又作见证，将原与父同在、且显现与我们那永远的生命传给你们。）And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3我们将所看见、所听见的传给你们，使你们与我们。我们乃是与父并他儿子耶稣基督相交的。We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4我们将这些话写给你们，使你们（有古卷：我们）的喜乐充足。We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5神就是光，在他毫无黑暗。这是我们从主所听见、又报给你们的信息。And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6我们若说是与 神相交，却仍在黑暗里行，就是说谎话，不行真理了。If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7我们若在光明中行，如同 神在光明中，就彼此相交，他儿子也洗净我们一切的罪。But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8我们若说自己无罪，便是自欺，真理不在我们心里了。If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9我们若自己的罪， 神是信实的，是公义的，必要赦免我们的罪，洗净我们一切的不义。If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10我们若说自己没有犯过罪，便是以 神为说谎的，他的道也不在我们心里了。If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
