西拿基立攻击犹大

¹希西家王十四年，亚述王西拿基立上来攻击犹大的一切坚固城，将城攻取。In the fourteenth year of Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked and captured all the fortified cities of Judah.

²亚述王从拉吉差遣拉伯沙基率领大军往耶路撒冷，到希西家王那里去。他就站在上池的水沟旁，在漂布地的大路上。And the king of Assyria sent the Rabshakeh, with a great army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. And he stopped by the aqueduct of the upper pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field.

³于是希勒家的儿子家宰以利亚敬，并书记舍伯那和亚萨的儿子史官约亚，出来见拉伯沙基。Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebna the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, went out to him.

拉伯沙基的嘲弄

⁴拉伯沙基对他们说：“你们去告诉希西家说，亚述大王如此说：‘你所倚靠的有什么可仗赖的呢？The Rabshakeh said to them, “Tell Hezekiah that this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: What is the basis of this confidence of yours?

⁵你说，有打仗的计谋和能力，我看不过是虚话。你到底倚靠谁才背叛我呢？You claim to have a strategy and strength for war, but these are empty words. In whom are you now trusting, that you have rebelled against me?

⁶看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。Look now, you are trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

⁷你若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华—我们的　神。希西家岂不是将　神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们当在这坛前敬拜吗？But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is He not the One whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem, ‘You must worship before this altar’?

⁸现在你把当头给我主亚述王，我给你二千匹马，看你这一面骑马的人够不够。Now, therefore, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!

⁹若不然，怎能打败我主臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠埃及的战车马兵吗？For how can you repel a single officer among the least of my master’s servants when you depend on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?

¹⁰现在我上来攻击毁灭这地，岂没有耶和华的意思吗？耶和华吩咐我说，你上去攻击毁灭这地吧！’”So now, was it apart from the LORD that I have come up against this land to destroy it? The LORD Himself said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it.’”

¹¹以利亚敬、舍伯那、约亚对拉伯沙基说：“求你用亚兰言语和仆人说话，因为我们懂得；不要用犹大言语和我们说话，达到城上百姓的耳中。”Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Do not speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”

¹²拉伯沙基说：“我主差遣我来，岂是单对你和你的主说这些话吗？不也是对这些坐在城上、要与你们一同吃自己粪喝自己尿的人说吗？”But the Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and drink their own urine?”

拉伯沙基向城上百姓喊话

¹³于是，拉伯沙基站着，用犹大言语大声喊着说：“你们当听亚述大王的话。Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out loudly in Hebrew: “Hear the words of the great king, the king of Assyria!

¹⁴王如此说：‘你们不要被希西家欺哄了，因他不能拯救你们。This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he cannot deliver you.

¹⁵也不要听希西家使你们倚靠耶和华说：耶和华必要拯救我们，这城必不交在亚述王的手中。’Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’

¹⁶不要听希西家的话，因亚述王如此说：‘你们要与我和好。出来投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。Do not listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and drink water from his own cistern,

¹⁷等我来领你们到一个地方，与你们本地一样，就是有五谷和新酒之地，有粮食和葡萄园之地。until I come and take you away to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

¹⁸你们要谨防，恐怕希西家劝导你们说：耶和华必拯救我们。列国的神有哪一个救他本国脱离亚述王的手呢？Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’ Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?

¹⁹哈马和亚珥拔的神在哪里呢？西法瓦音的神在哪里呢？他们曾救撒马利亚脱离我的手吗？Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

²⁰这些国的神有谁曾救自己的国脱离我的手呢？难道耶和华能救耶路撒冷脱离我的手吗？’”Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”

²¹百姓静默不言，并不回答一句，因为王曾吩咐说：“不要回答他。”But the people remained silent and did not answer a word, for Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer him.”

希西家求问以赛亚

¹希西家王听见就撕裂衣服，披上麻布，进了耶和华的殿，On hearing this report, King Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and entered the house of the LORD.

²使家宰以利亚敬和书记舍伯那，并祭司中的长老，都披上麻布，去见亚摩斯的儿子先知以赛亚，And he sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz

³对他说：“希西家如此说：‘今日是急难、责罚、凌辱的日子，就如妇人将要生产婴孩，却没有力量生产。to tell him, “This is what Hezekiah says: Today is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace; for children have come to the point of birth, but there is no strength to deliver them.

⁴或者耶和华—你的　神听见拉伯沙基的话，就是他主人亚述王打发他来辱骂永生　神的话；耶和华—你的　神听见这话就发斥责。故此，求你为余剩的民扬声祷告。’”Perhaps the LORD your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to defy the living God, and He will rebuke him for the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the remnant that still survives.”

⁵希西家王的臣仆就去见以赛亚。So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah,

⁶以赛亚对他们说：“要这样对你们的主人说，耶和华如此说：‘你听见亚述王的仆人亵渎我的话，不要惧怕。who replied, “Tell your master that this is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid of the words you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.

⁷我必惊动（原文是使灵进入）他的心；他要听见风声就归回本地，我必使他在那里倒在刀下。’”Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to fall by the sword.’”

亚述王的恐吓信

⁸拉伯沙基回去，正遇见亚述王攻打立拿；原来他早听见亚述王拔营离开拉吉。When the Rabshakeh heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.

⁹亚述王听见人论古实王特哈加说：“他出来要与你争战。”亚述王一听见，就打发使者去见希西家，吩咐他们说：Now Sennacherib had been warned about Tirhakah king of Cush: “He has set out to fight against you.” On hearing this, Sennacherib sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

¹⁰“你们对犹大王希西家如此说：‘不要听你所倚靠的　神欺哄你说：耶路撒冷必不交在亚述王的手中。“Give this message to Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

¹¹你总听说亚述诸王向列国所行的乃是尽行灭绝，难道你还能得救吗？Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries, devoting them to destruction. Will you then be spared?

希西家在殿中祷告

¹⁴希西家从使者手里接过书信来，看完了，就上耶和华的殿，将书信在耶和华面前展开。So Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.

¹⁵希西家向耶和华祷告说：And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD:

¹⁶“坐在二基路伯上万军之耶和华—以色列的　神啊，你—惟有你是天下万国的　神，你曾创造天地。“O LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.

¹⁷耶和华啊，求你侧耳而听；耶和华啊，求你睁眼而看，要听西拿基立的一切话，他是打发使者来辱骂永生　神的。Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see. Listen to all the words that Sennacherib has sent to defy the living God.

¹⁸耶和华啊，亚述诸王果然使列国和列国之地变为荒凉，Truly, O LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all these countries and their lands.

¹⁹将列国的神像都扔在火里；因为他本不是神，乃是人手所造的，是木头、石头的，所以灭绝他。They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.

²⁰耶和华—我们的　神啊，现在求你救我们脱离亚述王的手，使天下万国都知道惟有你是耶和华。”And now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”

耶和华回答西拿基立

²¹亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚就打发人去见希西家，说：“耶和华—以色列的　神如此说，你既然求我攻击亚述王西拿基立，Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Because you have prayed to Me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria,

²²所以耶和华论他这样说：锡安的处女藐视你，嗤笑你；耶路撒冷的女子向你摇头。this is the word that the LORD has spoken against him: ‘The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you; the Daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.

²³你辱骂谁，亵渎谁？扬起声来，高举眼目攻击谁呢？乃是攻击以色列的圣者。Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!

²⁴你借你的臣仆辱骂主说：我率领许多战车上山顶，到黎巴嫩极深之处；我要砍伐其中高大的香柏树和佳美的松树。我必上极高之处，进入肥田的树林。Through your servants you have taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many chariots I have ascended to the heights of the mountains, to the remote peaks of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its cypresses. I have reached its farthest heights, the densest of its forests.

²⁵我已经挖井喝水；我必用脚掌踏干埃及的一切河。I have dug wells and drunk foreign waters. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.”

²⁶耶和华说：你岂没有听见我早先所做的、古时所立的吗？现在借你使坚固城荒废，变为乱堆。Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it; in days of old I planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should crush fortified cities into piles of rubble.

²⁷所以其中的居民力量甚小，惊惶羞愧。他们像野草，像青菜，如房顶上的草，又如田间未长成的禾稼。Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of power, are dismayed and ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green shoots, grass on the rooftops, scorched before it is grown.

²⁸你坐下，你出去，你进来，你向我发烈怒，我都知道。But I know your sitting down, your going out and coming in, and your raging against Me.

²⁹因你向我发烈怒，又因你狂傲的话达到我耳中，我就要用钩子钩上你的鼻子，把嚼环放在你口里，使你从原路转回去。Because your rage and arrogance against Me have reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My bit in your mouth; I will send you back the way you came.’

给希西家的证据

³⁰“以色列人哪，我赐你们一个证据：你们今年要吃自生的，明年也要吃自长的，至于后年，你们要耕种收割，栽植葡萄园，吃其中的果子。And this will be a sign to you, O Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will sow and reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

³¹犹大家所逃脱余剩的，仍要往下扎根，向上结果。And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root below and bear fruit above.

³²必有余剩的民从耶路撒冷而出；必有逃脱的人从锡安山而来。万军之耶和华的热心必成就这事。For a remnant will go forth from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.

³³“所以耶和华论亚述王如此说：他必不得来到这城，也不在这里射箭，不得拿盾牌到城前，也不筑垒攻城。So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: ‘He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow into it. He will not come before it with a shield or build up a siege ramp against it.

³⁴他从哪条路来，必从那条路回去，必不得来到这城。这是耶和华说的。He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city,’ declares the LORD.

³⁵因我为自己的缘故，又为我仆人大卫的缘故，必保护拯救这城。”‘I will defend this city and save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.’”

亚述大军被击杀

³⁶耶和华的使者出去，在亚述营中杀了十八万五千人。清早有人起来一看，都是死尸了。Then the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 men in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!

³⁷亚述王西拿基立就拔营回去，住在尼尼微。So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.

³⁸一日在他的神—尼斯洛庙里叩拜，他儿子亚得米勒和沙利色用刀杀了他，就逃到亚拉腊地。他儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.

希西家病得要死

¹那时希西家病得要死，亚摩斯的儿子先知以赛亚去见他，对他说：“耶和华如此说：你当留遗命与你的家，因为你必死不能活了。”In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Put your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”

²希西家就转脸朝墙，祷告耶和华说：Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD,

³“耶和华啊，求你记念我在你面前怎样存完全的心，按诚实行事，又做你眼中所看为善的。”希西家就痛哭了。saying, “Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion; I have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

⁴耶和华的话临到以赛亚说：And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying,

⁵“你去告诉希西家说，耶和华—你祖大卫的　神如此说：我听见了你的祷告，看见了你的眼泪。我必加增你十五年的寿数；“Go and tell Hezekiah that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.

⁶并且我要救你和这城脱离亚述王的手，也要保护这城。And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city.

日影后退十度

⁷“我—耶和华必成就我所说的。我先给你一个兆头，This will be a sign to you from the LORD that He will do what He has promised:

⁸就是叫亚哈斯的日晷，向前进的日影往后退十度。”于是，前进的日影果然在日晷上往后退了十度。I will make the sun’s shadow that falls on the stairway of Ahaz go back ten steps.’” So the sunlight went back the ten steps it had descended.

希西家病愈后的诗

⁹犹大王希西家患病已经痊愈，就作诗说：This is a writing by Hezekiah king of Judah after his illness and recovery:

¹⁰我说：正在我中年（或译：晌午）之日必进入阴间的门；我余剩的年岁不得享受。I said, “In the prime of my life I must go through the gates of Sheol and be deprived of the remainder of my years.”

¹¹我说：我必不得见耶和华，就是在活人之地不见耶和华；我与世上的居民不再见面。I said, “I will never again see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living; I will no longer look on mankind with those who dwell in this world.

¹²我的住处被迁去离开我，好像牧人的帐棚一样；我将性命卷起，像织布的卷布一样。耶和华必将我从机头剪断，从早到晚，他要使我完结。My dwelling has been picked up and removed from me like a shepherd’s tent. I have rolled up my life like a weaver; He cuts me off from the loom; from day until night You make an end of me.

¹³我使自己安静直到天亮；他像狮子折断我一切的骨头，从早到晚，他要使我完结。I composed myself until the morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones; from day until night You make an end of me.

¹⁴我像燕子呢喃，像白鹤鸣叫，又像鸽子哀鸣；我因仰观，眼睛困倦。耶和华啊，我受欺压，求你为我作保。I chirp like a swallow or crane; I moan like a dove. My eyes grow weak as I look upward. O Lord, I am oppressed; be my security.”

¹⁵我可说什么呢？他应许我的，也给我成就了。我因心里的苦楚，在一生的年日必悄悄而行。What can I say? He has spoken to me, and He Himself has done this. I will walk slowly all my years because of the anguish of my soul.

¹⁶主啊，人得存活乃在乎此。我灵存活也全在此。所以求你使我痊愈，仍然存活。O Lord, by such things men live, and in all of them my spirit finds life. You have restored me to health and have let me live.

¹⁷看哪，我受大苦，本为使我得平安；你因爱我的灵魂（或译：生命）便救我脱离败坏的坑，因为你将我一切的罪扔在你的背后。Surely for my own welfare I had such great anguish; but Your love has delivered me from the pit of oblivion, for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

¹⁸原来，阴间不能称谢你，死亡不能颂扬你；下坑的人不能盼望你的诚实。For Sheol cannot thank You; Death cannot praise You. Those who descend to the Pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.

¹⁹只有活人，活人必称谢你，像我今日称谢你一样。为父的，必使儿女知道你的诚实。The living, only the living, can thank You, as I do today; fathers will tell their children about Your faithfulness.

²⁰耶和华肯救我，所以，我们要一生一世在耶和华殿中用丝弦的乐器唱我的诗歌。The LORD will save me; we will play songs on stringed instruments all the days of our lives in the house of the LORD.

无花果饼与兆头

²¹以赛亚说：“当取一块无花果饼来，贴在疮上，王必痊愈。”Now Isaiah had said, “Prepare a lump of pressed figs and apply it to the boil, and he will recover.”

²²希西家问说：“我能上耶和华的殿，有什么兆头呢？”And Hezekiah had asked, “What will be the sign that I will go up to the house of the LORD?”

⁷正如你们从我们所亲爱、一同作仆人的以巴弗所学的。他为我们（有古卷：你们）作了基督忠心的执事，You learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on our behalf,

⁸也把你们因圣灵所存的爱心告诉了我们。and who also informed us of your love in the Spirit.

为他们祷告

⁹因此，我们自从听见的日子，也就为你们不住地祷告祈求，愿你们在一切属灵的智慧悟性上，满心知道　神的旨意；For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

¹⁰好叫你们行事为人对得起主，凡事蒙他喜悦，在一切善事上结果子，渐渐地多知道　神；so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

¹¹照他荣耀的权能，得以在各样的力上加力，好叫你们凡事欢欢喜喜地忍耐宽容；being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully

感谢父神的拯救

¹²又感谢父，叫我们能与众圣徒在光明中同得基业。giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.

¹³他救了我们脱离黑暗的权势，把我们迁到他爱子的国里；He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,

¹⁴我们在爱子里得蒙救赎，罪过得以赦免。in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
