亚玛谢接续作王

²⁷至于他的众子和他所受的警戒，并他重修　神殿的事，都写在列王的传上。他儿子亚玛谢接续他作王。The accounts of the sons of Joash and the many pronouncements about him, and of the restoration of the house of God, are indeed written in the Treatise of the Book of the Kings. And his son Amaziah reigned in his place.

行正却心不专诚

¹亚玛谢登基的时候年二十五岁，在耶路撒冷作王二十九年。他母亲名叫约耶但，是耶路撒冷人。Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Jehoaddan; she was from Jerusalem.

²亚玛谢行耶和华眼中看为正的事，只是心不专诚。And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.

³国一坚定，就把杀他父王的臣仆杀了，As soon as the kingdom was firmly in his grasp, Amaziah executed the servants who had murdered his father the king.

⁴却没有治死他们的儿子，是照摩西律法书上耶和华所吩咐的说：“不可因子杀父，也不可因父杀子，各人要为本身的罪而死。”Yet he did not put their sons to death, but acted according to what is written in the Law, in the Book of Moses, where the LORD commanded: “Fathers must not be put to death for their children, and children must not be put to death for their fathers; each is to die for his own sin.”

雇用以色列兵

⁵亚玛谢招聚犹大人，按着犹大和便雅悯的宗族设立千夫长、百夫长，又数点人数，从二十岁以外，能拿枪拿盾牌出去打仗的精兵共有三十万；Then Amaziah gathered the people of Judah and assigned them according to their families to commanders of thousands and of hundreds. And he numbered those twenty years of age or older throughout Judah and Benjamin and found 300,000 chosen men able to serve in the army, bearing the spear and shield.

⁶又用银子一百他连得，从以色列招募了十万大能的勇士。He also hired 100,000 mighty men of valor from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.

神人的警告

⁷有一个神人来见亚玛谢，对他说：“王啊，不要使以色列的军兵与你同去，因为耶和华不与以色列人以法莲的后裔同在。But a man of God came to him and said, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the Ephraimites.

⁸你若一定要去，就奋勇争战吧！但　神必使你败在敌人面前；因为　神能助人得胜，也能使人倾败。”Even if you go and fight bravely in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has power to help and power to overthrow.”

⁹亚玛谢问神人说：“我给了以色列军的那一百他连得银子怎么样呢？”神人回答说：“耶和华能把更多的赐给你。”Amaziah asked the man of God, “What should I do about the hundred talents I have given to the troops of Israel?” And the man of God replied, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”

¹⁰于是亚玛谢将那从以法莲来的军兵分别出来，叫他们回家去。故此，他们甚恼怒犹大人，气忿忿地回家去了。So Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. And they were furious with Judah and returned home in great anger.

在盐谷打败以东

¹¹亚玛谢壮起胆来，率领他的民到盐谷，杀了西珥人一万。Amaziah, however, summoned his strength and led his troops to the Valley of Salt, where he struck down 10,000 men of Seir,

¹²犹大人又生擒了一万带到山崖上，从那里把他们扔下去，以致他们都摔碎了。and the army of Judah also captured 10,000 men alive. They took them to the top of a cliff and threw them down so that all were dashed to pieces.

¹³但亚玛谢所打发回去、不许一同出征的那些军兵攻打犹大各城，从撒马利亚直到伯·和仑，杀了三千人，抢了许多财物。Meanwhile the troops that Amaziah had dismissed from battle raided the cities of Judah, from Samaria to Beth-horon. They struck down 3,000 people and carried off a great deal of plunder.

拜以东的神像

¹⁴亚玛谢杀了以东人回来，就把西珥的神像带回，立为自己的神，在它面前叩拜烧香。When Amaziah returned from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought back the gods of the Seirites, set them up as his own gods, bowed before them, and burned sacrifices to them.

¹⁵因此，耶和华的怒气向亚玛谢发作，就差一个先知去见他，说：“这些神不能救它的民脱离你的手，你为何寻求它呢？”Therefore the anger of the LORD burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet, who said, “Why have you sought this people’s gods, which could not deliver them from your hand?”

¹⁶先知与王说话的时候，王对他说：“谁立你作王的谋士呢？你住口吧！为何找打呢？”先知就止住了，又说：“你行这事，不听从我的劝戒，我知道　神定意要灭你。”While he was still speaking, the king asked, “Have we made you the counselor to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but he said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice.”

向以色列王挑战

¹⁷犹大王亚玛谢与群臣商议，就差遣使者去见耶户的孙子、约哈斯的儿子、以色列王约阿施，说：“你来，我们二人相见于战场。”Then Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent word to the king of Israel Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu. “Come, let us meet face to face,” he said.

¹⁸以色列王约阿施差遣使者去见犹大王亚玛谢，说：“黎巴嫩的蒺藜差遣使者去见黎巴嫩的香柏树，说：‘将你的女儿给我儿子为妻。’后来黎巴嫩有一个野兽经过，把蒺藜践踏了。But Jehoash king of Israel replied to Amaziah king of Judah: “A thistle in Lebanon sent a message to a cedar in Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son in marriage.’ Then a wild beast in Lebanon came along and trampled the thistle.

¹⁹你说：‘看哪，我打败了以东人’，你就心高气傲，以致矜夸。你在家里安居就罢了，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大国一同败亡呢？”You have said, ‘Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and your heart has become proud and boastful. Now stay at home. Why should you stir up trouble so that you fall—you and Judah with you?”

²⁰亚玛谢却不肯听从。这是出乎　神，好将他们交在敌人手里，因为他们寻求以东的神。But Amaziah would not listen, for this had come from God in order to deliver them into the hand of Jehoash, because they had sought the gods of Edom.

在伯‧示麦大败

²¹于是以色列王约阿施上来，在犹大的伯·示麦与犹大王亚玛谢相见于战场。So Jehoash king of Israel advanced, and he and Amaziah king of Judah faced each other at Beth-shemesh in Judah.

²²犹大人败在以色列人面前，各自逃回家里去了。And Judah was routed before Israel, and every man fled to his own home.

²³以色列王约阿施在伯·示麦擒住约哈斯（就是亚哈谢）的孙子、约阿施的儿子、犹大王亚玛谢，将他带到耶路撒冷，又拆毁耶路撒冷的城墙，从以法莲门直到角门，共四百肘；There at Beth-shemesh, Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate—a section of four hundred cubits.

²⁴又将俄别·以东所看守　神殿里的一切金银和器皿，与王宫里的财宝都拿了去，并带人去为质，就回撒马利亚去了。He took all the gold and silver and all the articles found in the house of God with Obed-edom and in the treasuries of the royal palace, as well as some hostages. Then he returned to Samaria.

亚玛谢被杀

²⁵以色列王约哈斯的儿子约阿施死后，犹大王约阿施的儿子亚玛谢又活了十五年。Amaziah son of Joash king of Judah lived for fifteen years after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel.

²⁶亚玛谢其余的事，自始至终不都写在犹大和以色列诸王记上吗？As for the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from beginning to end, are they not written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel?

²⁷自从亚玛谢离弃耶和华之后，在耶路撒冷有人背叛他，他就逃到拉吉；叛党却打发人到拉吉，将他杀了。From the time that Amaziah turned from following the LORD, a conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish. But men were sent after him to Lachish, and they killed him there.

²⁸人就用马将他的尸首驮回，葬在犹大京城他列祖的坟地里。They carried him back on horses and buried him with his fathers in the City of Judah.

百夫长哥尼流

¹在凯撒利亚有一个人，名叫哥尼流，是“意大利营”的百夫长。At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was called the Italian Regiment.

²他是个虔诚人，他和全家都敬畏　神，多多周济百姓，常常祷告　神。He and all his household were devout and God-fearing. He gave generously to the people and prayed to God regularly.

天使向哥尼流显现

³有一天，约在申初，他在异象中明明看见　神的一个使者进去，到他那里，说：“哥尼流。”One day at about the ninth hour, he had a clear vision of an angel of God who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”

⁴哥尼流定睛看他，惊怕说：“主啊，什么事呢？”天使说：“你的祷告和你的周济达到　神面前，已蒙记念了。Cornelius stared at him in fear and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have ascended as a memorial offering before God.

⁵现在你当打发人往约帕去，请那称呼彼得的西门来。Now send men to Joppa to call for a man named Simon who is called Peter.

⁶他住在海边一个硝皮匠西门的家里，房子在海边上。”He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”

⁷向他说话的天使去后，哥尼流叫了两个家人和常伺候他的一个虔诚兵来，When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among his attendants.

⁸把这事都述说给他们听，就打发他们往约帕去。He explained what had happened and sent them to Joppa.

彼得在房顶祷告

⁹第二天，他们行路将近那城。彼得约在午正，上房顶去祷告，The next day at about the sixth hour, as the men were approaching the city on their journey, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

¹⁰觉得饿了，想要吃。那家的人正预备饭的时候，彼得魂游象外，He became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

天上降下大布

¹¹看见天开了，有一物降下，好像一块大布，系着四角，缒在地上，He saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.

¹²里面有地上各样四足的走兽和昆虫，并天上的飞鸟；It contained all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, as well as birds of the air.

宰了吃

¹³又有声音向他说：“彼得，起来，宰了吃！”Then a voice said to him: “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!”

¹⁴彼得却说：“主啊，这是不可的！凡俗物和不洁净的物，我从来没有吃过。”“No, Lord!” Peter answered. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

¹⁵第二次有声音向他说：“　神所洁净的，你不可当作俗物。”The voice spoke to him a second time: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

¹⁶这样一连三次，那物随即收回天上去了。This happened three times, and all at once the sheet was taken back up into heaven.
