打发十二个探子

¹耶和华晓谕摩西说：And the LORD said to Moses,

²“你打发人去窥探我所赐给以色列人的迦南地，他们每支派中要打发一个人，都要作首领的。”“Send out for yourself men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”

³摩西就照耶和华的吩咐从巴兰的旷野打发他们去；他们都是以色列人的族长。So at the command of the LORD, Moses sent them out from the Wilderness of Paran. All the men were leaders of the Israelites,

⁴他们的名字：属流便支派的有撒刻的儿子沙母亚。and these were their names: From the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur;

⁵属西缅支派的有何利的儿子沙法。from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;

⁶属犹大支派的有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒。from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;

⁷属以萨迦支派的有约色的儿子以迦。from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;

⁸属以法莲支派的有嫩的儿子何希阿。from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;

⁹属便雅悯支派的有拉孚的儿子帕提。from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;

¹⁰属西布伦支派的有梭底的儿子迦叠。from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;

¹¹约瑟的子孙，属玛拿西支派的有稣西的儿子迦底。from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;

¹²属但支派的有基玛利的儿子亚米利。from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;

¹³属亚设支派的有米迦勒的儿子西帖。from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;

¹⁴属拿弗他利支派的有缚西的儿子拿比。from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;

¹⁵属迦得支派的有玛基的儿子臼利。and from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.

¹⁶这就是摩西所打发、窥探那地之人的名字。摩西就称嫩的儿子何希阿为约书亚。These were the names of the men Moses sent to spy out the land; and Moses gave to Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.

摩西吩咐探子要看甚么

¹⁷摩西打发他们去窥探迦南地，说：“你们从南地上山地去，When Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, he told them, “Go up through the Negev and into the hill country.

¹⁸看那地如何，其中所住的民是强是弱，是多是少，See what the land is like and whether its people are strong or weak, few or many.

¹⁹所住之地是好是歹，所住之处是营盘是坚城。Is the land where they live good or bad? Are the cities where they dwell open camps or fortifications?

²⁰又看那地土是肥美是瘠薄，其中有树木没有。你们要放开胆量，把那地的果子带些来。”（那时正是葡萄初熟的时候。）Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there trees in it or not? Be courageous and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)

²¹他们上去窥探那地，从寻的旷野到利合，直到哈马口。So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo-hamath.

²²他们从南地上去，到了希伯仑；在那里有亚衲族人亚希幔、示筛、挞买。（原来希伯仑城被建造比埃及的锁安城早七年。）They went up through the Negev and came to Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, dwelled. It had been built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.

²³他们到了以实各谷，从那里砍了葡萄树的一枝，上头有一挂葡萄，两个人用杠抬着，又带了些石榴和无花果来。When they came to the Valley of Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.

²⁴（因为以色列人从那里砍来的那挂葡萄，所以那地方叫做以实各谷。）Because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut there, that place was called the Valley of Eshcol.

四十天后带回果子

²⁵过了四十天，他们窥探那地才回来，After forty days the men returned from spying out the land,

²⁶到了巴兰旷野的加低斯，见摩西、亚伦，并以色列的全会众，回报摩西、亚伦，并全会众，又把那地的果子给他们看；and they went back to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran at Kadesh. They brought back a report for the whole congregation and showed them the fruit of the land.

²⁷又告诉摩西说：“我们到了你所打发我们去的那地，果然是流奶与蜜之地；这就是那地的果子。And they gave this account to Moses: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and indeed, it is flowing with milk and honey. Here is some of its fruit!

²⁸然而住那地的民强壮，城邑也坚固宽大，并且我们在那里看见了亚衲族的人。Nevertheless, the people living in the land are strong, and the cities are large and fortified. We even saw the descendants of Anak there.

²⁹亚玛力人住在南地；赫人、耶布斯人、亚摩利人住在山地；迦南人住在海边并约旦河旁。”The Amalekites live in the land of the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live by the sea and along the Jordan.”

迦勒安抚百姓

³⁰迦勒在摩西面前安抚百姓，说：“我们立刻上去得那地吧！我们足能得胜。”Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “We must go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly conquer it!”

探子报恶信

³¹但那些和他同去的人说：“我们不能上去攻击那民，因为他们比我们强壮。”But the men who had gone up with him replied, “We cannot go up against the people, for they are stronger than we are!”

³²探子中有人论到所窥探之地，向以色列人报恶信，说：“我们所窥探、经过之地是吞吃居民之地，我们在那里所看见的人民都身量高大。So they gave the Israelites a bad report about the land that they had spied out: “The land we explored devours its inhabitants, and all the people we saw there are great in stature.

³³我们在那里看见亚衲族人，就是伟人；他们是伟人的后裔。据我们看，自己就如蚱蜢一样；据他们看，我们也是如此。”We even saw the Nephilim there—the descendants of Anak that come from the Nephilim! We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!”

全会众哭号要回埃及

¹当下，全会众大声喧嚷；那夜百姓都哭号。Then the whole congregation lifted up their voices and cried out, and that night the people wept.

²以色列众人向摩西、亚伦发怨言；全会众对他们说：“巴不得我们早死在埃及地，或是死在这旷野。All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness!

³耶和华为什么把我们领到那地，使我们倒在刀下呢？我们的妻子和孩子必被掳掠。我们回埃及去岂不好吗？”Why is the LORD bringing us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and children will become plunder. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?”

⁴众人彼此说：“我们不如立一个首领回埃及去吧！”So they said to one another, “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt.”

⁵摩西、亚伦就俯伏在以色列全会众面前。Then Moses and Aaron fell facedown before the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel.

约书亚和迦勒的劝告

⁶窥探地的人中，嫩的儿子约书亚和耶孚尼的儿子迦勒撕裂衣服，Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes

⁷对以色列全会众说：“我们所窥探、经过之地是极美之地。and said to the whole congregation of Israel, “The land we passed through and explored is an exceedingly good land.

⁸耶和华若喜悦我们，就必将我们领进那地，把地赐给我们；那地原是流奶与蜜之地。If the LORD delights in us, He will bring us into this land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and He will give it to us.

⁹但你们不可背叛耶和华，也不要怕那地的居民；因为他们是我们的食物，并且荫庇他们的已经离开他们。有耶和华与我们同在，不要怕他们！”Only do not rebel against the LORD, and do not be afraid of the people of the land, for they will be like bread for us. Their protection has been removed, and the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them!”

¹⁰但全会众说：“拿石头打死他们二人。”忽然，耶和华的荣光在会幕中向以色列众人显现。But the whole congregation threatened to stone Joshua and Caleb. Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the Israelites at the Tent of Meeting.

¹¹耶和华对摩西说：“这百姓藐视我要到几时呢？我在他们中间行了这一切神迹，他们还不信我要到几时呢？And the LORD said to Moses, “How long will this people treat Me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in Me, despite all the signs I have performed among them?

¹²我要用瘟疫击杀他们，使他们不得承受那地，叫你的后裔成为大国，比他们强胜。”I will strike them with a plague and destroy them—and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they are.”

摩西为百姓代求

¹³摩西对耶和华说：“埃及人必听见这事；因为你曾施展大能，将这百姓从他们中间领上来。But Moses said to the LORD, “The Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought this people from among them.

¹⁴埃及人要将这事传给迦南地的居民；那民已经听见你—耶和华是在这百姓中间；因为你面对面被人看见，有你的云彩停在他们以上。你日间在云柱中，夜间在火柱中，在他们前面行。And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land. They have already heard that You, O LORD, are in the midst of this people, that You, O LORD, have been seen face to face, that Your cloud stands over them, and that You go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

¹⁵如今你若把这百姓杀了，如杀一人，那些听见你名声的列邦必议论说：If You kill this people as one man, the nations who have heard of Your fame will say,

¹⁶‘耶和华因为不能把这百姓领进他向他们起誓应许之地，所以在旷野把他们杀了。’‘Because the LORD was unable to bring this people into the land He swore to give them, He has slaughtered them in the wilderness.’

¹⁷现在求主大显能力，照你所说过的话说：So now I pray, may the power of my Lord be magnified, just as You have declared:

¹⁸‘耶和华不轻易发怒，并有丰盛的慈爱，赦免罪孽和过犯；万不以有罪的为无罪，必追讨他的罪，自父及子，直到三、四代。’‘The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in loving devotion, forgiving iniquity and transgression. Yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished; He will visit the iniquity of the fathers upon their children to the third and fourth generation.’

¹⁹求你照你的大慈爱赦免这百姓的罪孽，好像你从埃及到如今常赦免他们一样。”Pardon, I pray, the iniquity of this people, in keeping with the greatness of Your loving devotion, just as You have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.”

神赦免，却宣告刑罚

²⁰耶和华说：“我照着你的话赦免了他们。“I have pardoned them as you requested,” the LORD replied.

²¹然我指着我的永生起誓，遍地要被我的荣耀充满。“Yet as surely as I live and as surely as the whole earth is filled with the glory of the LORD,

²²这些人虽看见我的荣耀和我在埃及与旷野所行的神迹，仍然试探我这十次，不听从我的话，not one of the men who have seen My glory and the signs I performed in Egypt and in the wilderness—yet have tested Me and disobeyed Me these ten times—

²³他们断不得看见我向他们的祖宗所起誓应许之地。凡藐视我的，一个也不得看见；not one will ever see the land that I swore to give their fathers. None of those who have treated Me with contempt will see it.

²⁴惟独我的仆人迦勒，因他另有一个心志，专一跟从我，我就把他领进他所去过的那地；他的后裔也必得那地为业。But because My servant Caleb has a different spirit and has followed Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he has entered, and his descendants will inherit it.

²⁵亚玛力人和迦南人住在谷中，明天你们要转回，从红海的路往旷野去。”Now since the Amalekites and Canaanites are living in the valleys, turn back tomorrow and head for the wilderness along the route to the Red Sea.”

在旷野飘流四十年

²⁶耶和华对摩西、亚伦说：Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

²⁷“这恶会众向我发怨言，我忍耐他们要到几时呢？以色列人向我所发的怨言，我都听见了。“How long will this wicked congregation grumble against Me? I have heard the complaints that the Israelites are making against Me.

²⁸你们告诉他们，耶和华说：‘我指着我的永生起誓，我必要照你们达到我耳中的话待你们。So tell them: As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you exactly as I heard you say.

²⁹你们的尸首必倒在这旷野，并且你们中间凡被数点、从二十岁以外、向我发怨言的，Your bodies will fall in this wilderness—all who were numbered in the census, everyone twenty years of age or older—because you have grumbled against Me.

³⁰必不得进我起誓应许叫你们住的那地；惟有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒和嫩的儿子约书亚才能进去。Surely none of you will enter the land in which I swore to settle you, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

³¹但你们的妇人孩子，就是你们所说、要被掳掠的，我必把他们领进去，他们就得知你们所厌弃的那地。But I will bring your children, whom you said would become plunder, into the land you have rejected—and they will enjoy it.

³²至于你们，你们的尸首必倒在这旷野；As for you, however, your bodies will fall in this wilderness.

³³你们的儿女必在旷野飘流四十年，担当你们淫行的罪，直到你们的尸首在旷野消灭。Your children will be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years, and they will suffer for your unfaithfulness until the last of your bodies lies in the wilderness.

³⁴按你们窥探那地的四十日，一年顶一日，你们要担当罪孽四十年，就知道我与你们疏远了，In keeping with the forty days you spied out the land, you shall bear your guilt forty years—a year for each day—and you will experience My alienation.

³⁵我—耶和华说过，我总要这样待这一切聚集敌我的恶会众；他们必在这旷野消灭，在这里死亡。’”I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will surely do these things to this entire wicked congregation, which has conspired against Me. They will meet their end in the wilderness, and there they will die.”

报恶信的人遭瘟疫

³⁶摩西所打发、窥探那地的人回来，报那地的恶信，叫全会众向摩西发怨言，So the men Moses had sent to spy out the land, who had returned and made the whole congregation grumble against him by bringing out a bad report about the land—

³⁷这些报恶信的人都遭瘟疫，死在耶和华面前。those men who had brought out the bad report about the land—were struck down by a plague before the LORD.

³⁸其中惟有嫩的儿子约书亚和耶孚尼的儿子迦勒仍然存活。Of those men who had gone to spy out the land, only Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh remained alive.

百姓擅自上山被击败

³⁹摩西将这些话告诉以色列众人，他们就甚悲哀。And when Moses relayed these words to all the Israelites, the people mourned bitterly.

⁴⁰清早起来，上山顶去，说：“我们在这里，我们有罪了；情愿上耶和华所应许的地方去。”Early the next morning they got up and went up toward the ridge of the hill country. “We have indeed sinned,” they said, “but we will go to the place the LORD has promised.”

⁴¹摩西说：“你们为何违背耶和华的命令呢？这事不能顺利了。But Moses said, “Why are you transgressing the commandment of the LORD? This will not succeed!

⁴²不要上去；因为耶和华不在你们中间，恐怕你们被仇敌杀败了。Do not go up, lest you be struck down by your enemies, because the LORD is not among you.

⁴³亚玛力人和迦南人都在你们面前，你们必倒在刀下；因你们退回不跟从耶和华，所以他必不与你们同在。”For there the Amalekites and Canaanites will face you, and you will fall by the sword. Because you have turned away from the LORD, He will not be with you.”

⁴⁴他们却擅敢上山顶去，然而耶和华的约柜和摩西没有出营。But they dared to go up to the ridge of the hill country, though neither Moses nor the ark of the covenant of the LORD moved from the camp.

⁴⁵于是亚玛力人和住在那山上的迦南人都下来击打他们，把他们杀退了，直到何珥玛。Then the Amalekites and Canaanites who lived in that part of the hill country came down, attacked them, and routed them all the way to Hormah.

山下的辩论

¹⁴耶稣到了门徒那里，看见有许多人围着他们，又有文士和他们辩论。When they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them.

¹⁵众人一见耶稣，都甚希奇，就跑上去问他的安。As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were filled with awe and ran to greet Him.

¹⁶耶稣问他们说：“你们和他们辩论的是什么？”“What are you disputing with them?” He asked.

被哑巴鬼附的孩子

¹⁷众人中间有一个人回答说：“夫子，我带了我的儿子到你这里来，他被哑巴鬼附着。Someone in the crowd replied, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a spirit that makes him mute.

¹⁸无论在哪里，鬼捉弄他，把他摔倒，他就口中流沫，咬牙切齿，身体枯干。我请过你的门徒把鬼赶出去，他们却是不能。”Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.”

¹⁹耶稣说：“嗳！不信的世代啊，我在你们这里要到几时呢？我忍耐你们要到几时呢？把他带到我这里来吧。”“O unbelieving generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.”

²⁰他们就带了他来。他一见耶稣，鬼便叫他重重地抽风，倒在地上，翻来覆去，口中流沫。So they brought him, and seeing Jesus, the spirit immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.

²¹耶稣问他父亲说：“他得这病有多少日子呢？”回答说：“从小的时候。Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been with him?” “From childhood,” he said.

²²鬼屡次把他扔在火里、水里，要灭他。你若能做什么，求你怜悯我们，帮助我们。”“It often throws him into the fire or into the water, trying to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

在信的人，凡事都能

²³耶稣对他说：“你若能信，在信的人，凡事都能。”“If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!”

²⁴孩子的父亲立时喊着说（有古卷：立时流泪地喊着说）：“我信！但我信不足，求主帮助。”Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!”

²⁵耶稣看见众人都跑上来，就斥责那污鬼，说：“你这聋哑的鬼，我吩咐你从他里头出来，再不要进去！”When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.”

²⁶那鬼喊叫，使孩子大大地抽了一阵风，就出来了。孩子好像死了一般。以致众人多半说：“他是死了。”After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He is dead.”

²⁷但耶稣拉着他的手，扶他起来，他就站起来了。But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.

这一类非祷告不能出来

²⁸耶稣进了屋子，门徒就暗暗地问他说：“我们为什么不能赶出他去呢？”After Jesus had gone into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

²⁹耶稣说：“非用祷告（有古卷加：禁食二字），这一类的鬼总不能出来（或译：不能赶他出来）。”Jesus answered, “This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.”

第二次预言受死复活

³⁰他们离开那地方，经过加利利；耶稣不愿意人知道。Going on from there, they passed through Galilee. But Jesus did not want anyone to know,

³¹于是教训门徒，说：“人子将要被交在人手里，他们要杀害他；被杀以后，过三天他要复活。”because He was teaching His disciples. He told them, “The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.”

³²门徒却不明白这话，又不敢问他。But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him about it.
