1屬約瑟的兒子瑪拿西的各族，有瑪拿西的玄孫，瑪吉的曾孫，基列的孫子，希弗的兒子西羅非哈的女兒，名叫瑪拉、挪阿、曷拉、密迦、得撒。她們前來，Now the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. These were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They approached
2站在會幕門口，在摩西和祭司以利亞撒，並眾首領與全會眾面前，說：the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole congregation, and said,
3「我們的父親死在曠野。他不與可拉同黨聚集攻擊耶和華，是；他也沒有兒子。“Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among the followers of Korah who gathered together against the LORD. Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.
4為甚麼因我們的父親沒有兒子就把他的名從他族中除掉呢？求你們在我們父親的弟兄中分給我們產業。」Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan because he had no sons? Give us property among our father’s brothers.”
5於是，摩西將她們的呈到耶和華面前。So Moses brought their case before the LORD,
6耶和華曉諭摩西說：and the LORD answered him,
7「西羅非哈的女兒。你定要在她們父親的弟兄中，把地分給她們為業；要將她們父親的產業歸給她們。“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
8你也要曉諭以色列人說：『人若死了沒有兒子，就要把他的產業歸給他的女兒。Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.
9他若沒有女兒，就要把他的產業給他的弟兄。If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.
10他若沒有弟兄，就要把他的產業給他父親的弟兄。If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
11他父親若沒有弟兄，就要把他的產業給他族中，他便要得為業。』這要作以色列人的律例典章，是照耶和華吩咐摩西的。」And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
12耶和華對摩西說：「你上這，觀看我所賜給以色列人的地。Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.
13看了以後，你也必歸到你列祖（原文是本民）那裡，像你哥哥亞倫一樣。After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was;
14因為你們在尋的曠野，當會眾爭鬧的時候，違背了我的命，沒有在湧水之地、會眾眼前尊我為聖。」（這水就是尋的曠野加低斯米利巴水。）for when the congregation contended in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against My command to show My holiness in their sight regarding the waters.” Those were the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin.
15摩西對耶和華說：So Moses appealed to the LORD,
16「願耶和華萬人之靈的 神，立一個人治理會眾，“May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation
17可以在他們面前，也可以引導他們，免得耶和華的會眾如同沒有牧人的羊群一般。」who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
18耶和華對摩西說：「嫩的兒子約書亞是心中有聖靈的；你將他領來，在他頭上，And the LORD replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.
19使他站在祭司以利亞撒和全會眾面前，囑咐他，Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and commission him in their sight.
20又將你的給他幾分，使以色列全會眾都聽從他。Confer on him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel will obey him.
21他要站在祭司以利亞撒面前；以利亞撒要憑的判斷，在耶和華面前為他求問。他和以色列全會眾都要遵以利亞撒的命出入。」He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”
22於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐的將約書亞領來，使他站在祭司以利亞撒和全會眾面前，Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,
23按手在他頭上，囑咐他，是照耶和華藉摩西所說的話。and laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD had instructed through Moses.
