1這事以後，耶穌在加利利遊行，不願在猶太遊行，因為猶太人想要殺他。After this, Jesus traveled throughout Galilee. He did not want to travel in Judea, because the Jews there were trying to kill Him.
2當時猶太人的近了。However, the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near.
3就對他說：「你離開這裡上猶太去吧，叫你的門徒也看見你所行的事。So Jesus’ brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go to Judea, so that Your disciples there may see the works You are doing.
4人要顯揚名聲，沒有在暗處行事的；你如果行這些事，就當將自己顯明給世人看。」For no one who wants to be known publicly acts in secret. Since You are doing these things, show Yourself to the world.”
5因為連他的弟兄說這話，是因為不信他。For even His own brothers did not believe in Him.
6耶穌就對他們說：「我的時候還沒有到；你們的時候常是的。Therefore Jesus told them, “Although your time is always at hand, My time has not yet come.
7世人不能恨你們，卻是恨我，因為我指證他們所做的事是惡的。The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify that its works are evil.
8你們上去過節吧，我現在不上去過這節，因為我的時候還沒有滿。」Go up to the feast on your own. I am not going up to this feast, because My time has not yet come.”
9耶穌說了這話，仍舊住在加利利。Having said this, Jesus remained in Galilee.
10但他弟兄上去以後，他也上去過節，不是明去，似乎是暗去的。But after His brothers had gone up to the feast, He also went—not publicly, but in secret.
11正在節期，猶太人尋找耶穌，說：「他在哪裡？」So the Jews were looking for Him at the feast and asking, “Where is He?”
12眾人為他紛紛議論，有的說：「他是好人。」有的說：「不然，他是的。」Many in the crowds were whispering about Him. Some said, “He is a good man.” But others replied, “No, He deceives the people.”
13只是沒有人明明地講論他，因為怕猶太人。Yet no one would speak publicly about Him for fear of the Jews.
14到了節期，耶穌上殿裡去教訓人。About halfway through the feast, Jesus went up to the temple courts and began to teach.
15猶太人就希奇，說：「這個人沒有學過，怎麼呢？」The Jews were amazed and asked, “How did this man attain such learning without having studied?”
16耶穌說：「我的教訓不是我自己的，乃是那差我來者的。“My teaching is not My own,” Jesus replied. “It comes from Him who sent Me.
17人若遵著他的旨意行，就必曉得這教訓或是出於 神，或是我憑著自己說的。If anyone desires to do His will, he will know whether My teaching is from God or whether I speak on My own.
18人憑著自己說，是求自己的榮耀；惟有求那差他來者的榮耀，這人是真的，在他心裡沒有不義。He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory, but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is a man of truth; in Him there is no falsehood.
19摩西豈不是傳律法給你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人守律法。為甚麼想要殺我呢？」Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill Me?”
20眾人回答說：「你是！誰想要殺你？」“You have a demon,” the crowd replied. “Who is trying to kill You?”
21耶穌說：「我做了一件事，你們都以為希奇。Jesus answered them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed.
22摩西傳給你們（其實不是從摩西起的，乃是從祖先起的），因此你們也在安息日給人行割禮。But because Moses gave you circumcision, you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath (not that it is from Moses, but from the patriarchs.)
23人若在安息日受割禮，免得違背摩西的律法，我在安息日叫一個人全然好了，你們就向我生氣嗎？If a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses will not be broken, why are you angry with Me for making the whole man well on the Sabbath?
24不可，總要按公平斷定是非。」Stop judging by outward appearances, and start judging justly.”
25耶路撒冷人中有的說：「這不是他們想要殺的人嗎？Then some of the people of Jerusalem began to say, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?
26你看他還明明地講道，他們也不向他說甚麼，難道官長真知道這是基督嗎？Yet here He is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying anything to Him. Have the rulers truly recognized that this is the Christ?
27然而，我們知道這個人從哪裡來；只是基督來的時候，沒有人知道他從哪裡來。」But we know where this man is from. When the Christ comes, no one will know where He is from.”
28那時，耶穌在殿裡教訓人，大聲說：「你們也知道我，也知道我從哪裡來；我來並不是由於自己。但那差我來的是真的。你們不認識他，Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “You know Me, and you know where I am from. I have not come of My own accord, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him,
29我卻認識他；因為我是從他來的，他也是差了我來。」but I know Him, because I am from Him and He sent Me.”
30他們就想要捉拿耶穌；只是沒有人下手，因為他的時候還沒有到。So they tried to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
31但眾人中間有好些信他的，說：「基督來的時候，他所行的神蹟豈能比這人所行的更多嗎？」Many in the crowd, however, believed in Him and said, “When the Christ comes, will He perform more signs than this man?”
32法利賽人聽見眾人為耶穌這樣紛紛議論，和法利賽人就打發去捉拿他。When the Pharisees heard the crowd whispering these things about Jesus, they and the chief priests sent officers to arrest Him.
33於是耶穌說：「我還有不多的時候和你們同在，以後就回到差我來的那裡去。So Jesus said, “I am with you only a little while longer, and then I am going to the One who sent Me.
34你們要找我，卻找不著；我所在的地方你們不能到。」You will look for Me, but you will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”
35猶太人就彼此對問說：「這人要往哪裡去，叫我們找不著呢？難道他要往那裡去教訓希臘人嗎？At this, the Jews said to one another, “Where does He intend to go that we will not find Him? Will He go where the Jews are dispersed among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
36他說：『你們要找我，卻找不著；我所在的地方，你們不能到』，這話是甚麼意思呢？」What does He mean by saying, ‘You will look for Me, but you will not find Me,’ and, ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”
37，就是最大之日，耶穌站著高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裡來喝。On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
38信我的人就如經上所說：『從他要流出的江河來。』」Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’”
39耶穌這話是指著信他之人要受聖靈說的。那時還沒有賜下聖靈來，因為耶穌尚未得著榮耀。He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. For the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
40眾人聽見這話，有的說：「這真是那先知。」On hearing these words, some of the people said, “This is truly the Prophet.”
41有的說：「這是基督。」但也有的說：「基督豈是從加利利出來的嗎？Others declared, “This is the Christ.” But still others asked, “How can the Christ come from Galilee?
42經上豈不是說『基督是大衛的後裔，從大衛本鄉出來的』嗎？」Doesn’t the Scripture say that the Christ will come from the line of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?”
43於是眾人因著耶穌起了。So there was division in the crowd because of Jesus.
44其中有人要捉拿他，只是無人下手。Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid a hand on Him.
45差役回到和法利賽人那裡。他們對差役說：「你們為甚麼沒有帶他來呢？」Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring Him in?”
46差役回答說：「從來沒有像他這樣說話的！」“Never has anyone spoken like this man!” the officers answered.
47法利賽人說：「你們也受了迷惑嗎？“Have you also been deceived?” replied the Pharisees.
48官長或是法利賽人豈有信他的呢？“Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in Him?
49但這些不明白律法的百姓是！」But this crowd that does not know the law—they are under a curse.”
50內中有，就是從前去見耶穌的，對他們說：Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who himself was one of them, asked,
51「不先聽本人的，不知道他所做的事，難道我們的律法還定他的罪嗎？」“Does our law convict a man without first hearing from him to determine what he has done?”
52他們回答說：「你也是出於嗎？你且去，就可知道加利利沒有出過先知。」“Aren’t you also from Galilee?” they replied. “Look into it, and you will see that no prophet comes out of Galilee.”
53於是各人都回家去了；Then each went to his own home.
