1那時，門徒增多，有向，因為在天天的供給上忽略了他們的寡婦。In those days when the disciples were increasing in number, the Grecian Jews among them began to grumble against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.

4但我們要專心以祈禱、傳道為事。」and will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
5大眾都喜悅這話，就揀選了，乃是大有信心、聖靈充滿的人，又揀選、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門、巴米拿，並安提阿人尼哥拉，This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, as well as Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
6叫他們站在使徒面前。使徒禱告了，就在他們頭上。They presented these seven to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
7神的道興旺起來；在耶路撒冷門徒數目加增的甚多，也有許多祭司信從了這道。So the word of God continued to spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem grew rapidly, and a great number of priests became obedient to the faith.
8司提反滿得恩惠、能力，在民間行了大奇事和神蹟。Now Stephen, who was full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and signs among the people.
9當時有稱的幾個人，並有古利奈、亞歷山大、、亞細亞各處會堂的幾個人，都起來和司提反辯論。But resistance arose from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and men from the provinces of Cilicia and Asia. They disputed with Stephen,
10司提反是以智慧和聖靈說話，眾人敵擋不住，but they could not stand up to his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.
11就買出人來說：「我們聽見他說摩西和 神的話。」Then they prompted some men to say, “We heard Stephen speak words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.”
12他們又了百姓、長老，並文士，就忽然來捉拿他，把他帶到公會去，So they stirred up the people, elders, and scribes and confronted Stephen. They seized him and brought him before the Sanhedrin,
13設下假見證，說：「這個人說話，不住地聖所和律法。where they presented false witnesses who said, “This man never stops speaking against this holy place and against the law.
14我們曾聽見他說，這拿撒勒人耶穌要毀壞此地，也要改變摩西所交給我們的。」For we have heard him say that Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs that Moses handed down to us.”
15在公會裡坐著的人都看他，見他的面貌，好像天使的面貌。All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel.
