1使徒對百姓說話的時候，祭司們和，並忽然來了。While Peter and John were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to them,
2因他們教訓百姓，耶穌，傳說死人復活，就很，greatly disturbed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.
3於是下手拿住他們；因為天已經晚了，就把他們到第二天。They seized Peter and John, and because it was evening, they put them in custody until the next day.
4但聽道之人有許多信的，數目約到五千。But many who heard the message believed, and the number of men grew to about five thousand.
5第二天，官府、長老，和在耶路撒冷聚會，The next day the rulers, elders, and scribes assembled in Jerusalem,
6又有大祭司和該亞法、約翰、亞歷山大，並大祭司的親族都在那裡，along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and many others from the high priest’s family.
7叫使徒站在當中，就問他們說：「你們用甚麼能力，奉誰的名做這事呢？」They had Peter and John brought in and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?”
8那時彼得被聖靈充滿，對他們說：Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers and elders of the people!
9「治民的官府和長老啊，倘若今日因為在身上所行的善事查問我們他是怎麼得了痊癒，If we are being examined today about a kind service to a man who was lame, to determine how he was healed,
10你們眾人和以色列百姓都當知道，站在你們面前的這人得痊癒是因你們所釘十字架、 神叫他從死裡復活的拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名。then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11他是你們匠人所棄的石頭，已成了。This Jesus is ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’
12除他以外，別無；因為在天下人間，沒有賜下別的名，我們可以靠著得救。」Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
13他們見彼得、約翰的，又看出他們原是，就希奇，認明他們是跟過耶穌的；When they saw the boldness of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they marveled and took note that these men had been with Jesus.
14又看見那治好了的人和他們一同站著，就。And seeing the man who had been healed standing there with them, they had nothing to say in response.
15於是吩咐他們從出去，就彼此商議說：So they ordered them to leave the Sanhedrin and then conferred together.
16「我們當怎樣辦這兩個人呢？因為他們誠然行了一件明顯的神蹟，凡住耶路撒冷的人都知道，我們也不能說沒有。“What shall we do with these men?” they asked. “It is clear to everyone living in Jerusalem that a remarkable miracle has occurred through them, and we cannot deny it.
17惟恐這事越發傳揚在民間，我們必須他們，叫他們不再奉這名對人講論。」But to keep this message from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in this name.”
18於是叫了他們來，禁止他們總不可奉耶穌的名講論教訓人。Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
19彼得、約翰說：「聽從你們，不聽從神，這在 神面前合理不合理，你們自己吧！But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than God.
20我們所看見所聽見的，不能不說。」For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
21官長為百姓的緣故，想不出法子刑罰他們，又恐嚇一番，把他們釋放了。這是因眾人為所行的奇事都歸榮耀與 神。After further threats they let them go. They could not find a way to punish them, because all the people were glorifying God for what had happened.
22原來藉著神蹟醫好的那人有四十多歲了。For the man who was miraculously healed was over forty years old.
23二人既被釋放，就到會友那裡去，把祭司長和長老所說的話都告訴他們。On their release, Peter and John returned to their own people and reported everything that the chief priests and elders had said to them.
24他們聽見了，就同心合意地高聲向 神說：「！你是造天、地、海，和其中萬物的，When the believers heard this, they lifted up their voices to God with one accord. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “You made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything in them.
25你曾藉著聖靈，託你僕人─我們祖宗大衛的口，說：外邦為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼謀算虛妄的事？You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of Your servant, our father David: ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
26世上的君王一齊起來，也聚集，要敵擋主，並主的（或譯：基督）。The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One.’
27和本丟•，外邦人和以色列民，果然在這城裡聚集，要攻打你所膏的聖僕（僕：或譯子）耶穌，In fact, this is the very city where Herod and Pontius Pilate conspired with the Gentiles and the people of Israel against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed.
28成就你手和你意旨所預定必有的事。They carried out what Your hand and will had decided beforehand would happen.
29–30他們恐嚇我們，現在求主，一面叫你僕人大放膽量講你的道，一面伸出你的手來醫治疾病，並且使神蹟奇事因著你聖僕（僕：或譯子）耶穌的名行出來。」And now, Lord, consider their threats, and enable Your servants to speak Your word with complete boldness, as You stretch out Your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.”
31禱告完了，聚會的地方，他們就都被聖靈充滿，放膽講論 神的道。After they had prayed, their meeting place was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.
32那許多信的人都是的，沒有一人說他的東西有一樣是自己的，都是大家。The multitude of believers was one in heart and soul. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they owned.
33使徒大有能力，見證主耶穌復活；眾人也都蒙大恩。With great power the apostles continued to give their testimony about the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And abundant grace was upon them all.
34內中也沒有一個的；因為人人將田產房屋都賣了，把所賣的價銀拿來，There were no needy ones among them, because those who owned lands or houses would sell their property, bring the proceeds from the sales,
35放在使徒腳前，照各人所需用的，分給各人。and lay them at the apostles’ feet for distribution to anyone as he had need.
36有一個利未人，生在，名叫約瑟，使徒稱他為（巴拿巴翻出來就是勸慰子）。Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (meaning Son of Encouragement),
37他有田地，也賣了，把拿來，放在使徒腳前。sold a field he owned, brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.
