1希西家王聽見，就撕裂衣服，披上麻布，進了耶和華的殿；On hearing this report, King Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and entered the house of the LORD.
2使家宰以利亞敬和書記舍伯那，並祭司中的長老，都披上麻布，去見亞摩斯的兒子先知以賽亞，And he sent Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz
3對他說：「希西家如此說：『今日是急難、責罰、凌辱的日子，就如婦人將要生產嬰孩，卻。to tell him, “This is what Hezekiah says: Today is a day of distress, rebuke, and disgrace; for children have come to the point of birth, but there is no strength to deliver them.
4或者耶和華─你的 神聽見拉伯沙基的一切話，就是他主人亞述王打發他來辱罵永生 神的話，耶和華─你的 神聽見這話，就發斥責。故此，求你為餘剩的民揚聲禱告。』」Perhaps the LORD your God will hear all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to defy the living God, and He will rebuke him for the words that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the remnant that still survives.”
5希西家王的臣僕就去見以賽亞。So the servants of King Hezekiah went to Isaiah,
6以賽亞對他們說：「要這樣對你們的主人說，耶和華如此說：『你聽見亞述王的僕人褻瀆我的話，不要懼怕。who replied, “Tell your master that this is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid of the words you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.
7我必（原文是使靈進入）他的心，他要聽見風聲就歸回本地。我必使他在那裡倒在刀下。』」Behold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to fall by the sword.’”
8拉伯沙基回去，正遇見亞述王攻打立拿，原來他早聽見亞述王拔營離開拉吉。When the Rabshakeh heard that the king of Assyria had left Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against Libnah.
9亞述王聽見人論古實王說：「他出來要與你爭戰。」於是亞述王又打發使者去見希西家，吩咐他們說：Now Sennacherib had been warned about Tirhakah king of Cush: “Look, he has set out to fight against you.” So Sennacherib again sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,
10「你們對猶大王希西家如此說：『不要聽你所倚靠的 神欺哄你，說耶路撒冷必不交在亞述王的手中。“Give this message to Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust, deceive you by saying that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11你總聽說亞述諸王向列國所行的，乃是盡行滅絕，難道你還能得救嗎？Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries, devoting them to destruction. Will you then be spared?
12我列祖所毀滅的，就是歌散、哈蘭、利色，和屬提．拉撒的伊甸人，這些國的神何曾拯救這些國呢？Did the gods of the nations destroyed by my fathers rescue those nations—the gods of Gozan, Haran, and Rezeph, and of the people of Eden in Telassar?
13哈馬的王、亞珥拔的王、西法瓦音城的王、希拿，和以瓦的王都在哪裡呢？』」Where are the kings of Hamath, Arpad, Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah?’”
14希西家從使者手裡接過書信來，看完了，就上耶和華的殿，將書信在耶和華面前展開。So Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers, read it, and went up to the house of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.
15希西家向耶和華禱告說：「坐在上耶和華─以色列的 神啊，你是天下萬國的 神，你曾創造天地。And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “O LORD, God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.
16耶和華啊，求你側耳而聽！耶和華啊，求你睜眼而看！要聽西拿基立打發使者來辱罵永生 神的話。Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see. Listen to the words that Sennacherib has sent to defy the living God.
17耶和華啊，亞述諸王果然使列國和列國之地變為荒涼，Truly, O LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste these nations and their lands.
18將列國的神像都扔在火裡；因為它本不是神，乃是人手所造的，是木頭石頭的，所以滅絕它。They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.
19耶和華─我們的 神啊，現在求你救我們脫離亞述王的手，使天下萬國都知道惟獨你─耶和華是 神！」And now, O LORD our God, please save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
20亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞就打發人去見希西家，說：「耶和華─以色列的 神如此說：『你既然求我攻擊亞述王西拿基立，我已聽見了。』Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria.
21耶和華論他這樣說：藐視你，嗤笑你；耶路撒冷的女子向你搖頭。This is the word that the LORD has spoken against him: ‘The Virgin Daughter of Zion despises you and mocks you; the Daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.
22你辱罵誰？褻瀆誰？揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？乃是攻擊以色列的聖者！Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
23你藉你的使者辱罵主，並說：我率領許多戰車上山頂，到黎巴嫩極深之處；我要砍伐其中高大的香柏樹和佳美的松樹；我必上極高之處，進入肥田的樹林。Through your servants you have taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many chariots I have ascended to the heights of the mountains, to the remote peaks of Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its cypresses. I have reached its farthest outposts, the densest of its forests.
24我已經在外邦挖井喝水；我必用腳掌踏乾埃及的一切河。I have dug wells and drunk foreign waters. With the soles of my feet I have dried up all the streams of Egypt.”
25耶和華說，我早先所做的，古時所立的，就是現在藉你使堅固城荒廢，變為亂堆，這事你豈沒有聽見嗎？Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it; in days of old I planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should crush fortified cities into piles of rubble.
26所以其中的居民力量甚小，驚惶羞愧。他們像野草，像青菜，如，又如未長成而枯乾的禾稼。Therefore their inhabitants, devoid of power, are dismayed and ashamed. They are like plants in the field, tender green shoots, grass on the rooftops, scorched before it is grown.
27你坐下，你出去，你進來，你向我發烈怒，我都知道。But I know your sitting down, your going out and coming in, and your raging against Me.
28因你向我發烈怒，又因你狂傲的話達到我耳中，我就要用鉤子鉤上你的鼻子，把放在你口裡，使你從你來的路轉回去。Because your rage and arrogance against Me have reached My ears, I will put My hook in your nose and My bit in your mouth; I will send you back the way you came.’
29「以色列人哪，我賜你們一個證據：你們今年要吃自生的，明年也要吃自長的；至於後年，你們要耕種收割，栽植葡萄園，吃其中的果子。And this will be a sign to you, O Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will sow and reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
30猶大家所逃脫餘剩的，仍要往下扎根，向上結果。And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root below and bear fruit above.
31必有餘剩的民從耶路撒冷而出；必有逃脫的人從錫安山而來。耶和華的必成就這事。For a remnant will go forth from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will accomplish this.
32「所以，耶和華論亞述王如此說：『他必不得來到這城，也不在這裡射箭，不得拿盾牌到城前，也不築壘攻城。So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: ‘He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow into it. He will not come before it with a shield or build up a siege ramp against it.
33他從哪條路來，必從那條路回去，必不得來到這城。這是耶和華說的。He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city, declares the LORD.
34因我為自己的緣故，又為我僕人大衛的緣故，必保護拯救這城。』」I will defend this city and save it for My own sake and for the sake of My servant David.’”
35當夜，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述營中殺了十八萬五千人。清早有人起來，一看，都是死屍了。And that very night the angel of the LORD went out and struck down 185,000 men in the camp of the Assyrians. When the people got up the next morning, there were all the dead bodies!
36亞述王西拿基立就拔營回去，住在尼尼微。So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.
37一日在他的神尼斯洛廟裡叩拜，他兒子亞得米勒和沙利色用刀殺了他，就逃到亞拉臘地。他兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god Nisroch, his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.
