亞比雅接續作王

¹⁶羅波安與他列祖同睡，葬在大衛城裡。他兒子亞比雅接續他作王。And Rehoboam rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Abijah reigned in his place.

亞比雅與耶羅波安交戰

¹耶羅波安王十八年，亞比雅登基作猶大王，In the eighteenth year of Jeroboam’s reign, Abijah became king of Judah,

²在耶路撒冷作王三年。他母親名叫米該亞（又作瑪迦），是基比亞人烏列的女兒。亞比雅常與耶羅波安爭戰。and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Micaiah daughter of Uriel; she was from Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

³有一次亞比雅率領挑選的兵四十萬擺陣，都是勇敢的戰士；耶羅波安也挑選大能的勇士八十萬，對亞比雅擺陣。Abijah went into battle with an army of 400,000 chosen men, while Jeroboam drew up in formation against him with 800,000 chosen and mighty men of valor.

亞比雅在山上的宣告

⁴亞比雅站在以法蓮山地中的洗瑪臉山上，說：「耶羅波安和以色列眾人哪，要聽我說！Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim and said, “Hear me, O Jeroboam and all Israel!

⁵耶和華─以色列的　神曾立鹽約（鹽就是不廢壞的意思），將以色列國永遠賜給大衛和他的子孫，你們不知道嗎？Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

⁶無奈大衛兒子所羅門的臣僕、尼八兒子耶羅波安起來背叛他的主人。Yet Jeroboam son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon son of David, rose up and rebelled against his master.

⁷有些無賴的匪徒聚集跟從他，逞強攻擊所羅門的兒子羅波安；那時羅波安還幼弱，不能抵擋他們。Then worthless and wicked men gathered around him to resist Rehoboam son of Solomon when he was young, inexperienced, and unable to resist them.

⁸「現在你們有意抗拒大衛子孫手下所治耶和華的國，你們的人也甚多，你們那裡又有耶羅波安為你們所造當作神的金牛犢。And now you think you can resist the kingdom of the LORD, which is in the hands of David’s descendants. You are indeed a vast army, and you have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

⁹你們不是驅逐耶和華的祭司亞倫的後裔和利未人嗎？不是照著外邦人的惡俗為自己立祭司嗎？無論何人牽一隻公牛犢、七隻公綿羊將自己分別出來，就可作虛無之神的祭司。But did you not drive out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites? And did you not make priests for yourselves as do the peoples of other lands? Now whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young bull and seven rams can become a priest of things that are not gods.

¹⁰至於我們，耶和華是我們的　神，我們並沒有離棄他。我們有事奉耶和華的祭司，都是亞倫的後裔，並有利未人各盡其職，But as for us, the LORD is our God. We have not forsaken Him; the priests who minister to the LORD are sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their duties.

¹¹每日早晚向耶和華獻燔祭，燒美香，又在精金的桌子上擺陳設餅；又有金燈臺和燈盞，每晚點起，因為我們遵守耶和華─我們　神的命；惟有你們離棄了他。Every morning and every evening they present burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the LORD. They set out the rows of showbread on the ceremonially clean table, and every evening they light the lamps of the gold lampstand. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have forsaken Him.

¹²率領我們的是　神，我們這裡也有　神的祭司拿號向你們吹出大聲。以色列人哪，不要與耶和華─你們列祖的　神爭戰，因你們必不能亨通。」Now behold, God Himself is with us as our head, and His priests with their trumpets sound the battle call against you. O children of Israel, do not fight against the LORD, the God of your fathers, for you will not succeed.”

猶大呼求神而得勝

¹³耶羅波安卻在猶大人的後頭設伏兵。這樣，以色列人在猶大人的前頭，伏兵在猶大人的後頭。Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to ambush from the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah, the ambush was behind them.

¹⁴猶大人回頭觀看，見前後都有敵兵，就呼求耶和華，祭司也吹號。When Judah turned and discovered that the battle was both before and behind them, they cried out to the LORD. Then the priests blew the trumpets,

¹⁵於是猶大人吶喊；猶大人吶喊的時候，　神就使耶羅波安和以色列眾人敗在亞比雅與猶大人面前。and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. And when they raised the cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

¹⁶以色列人在猶大人面前逃跑，　神將他們交在猶大人手裡。So the Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.

¹⁷亞比雅和他的軍兵大大殺戮以色列人，以色列人仆倒死亡的精兵有五十萬。Then Abijah and his people struck them with a mighty blow, and 500,000 chosen men of Israel fell slain.

¹⁸那時，以色列人被制伏了，猶大人得勝，是因倚靠耶和華─他們列祖的　神。Thus the Israelites were subdued at that time, and the men of Judah prevailed because they relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.

¹⁹亞比雅追趕耶羅波安，攻取了他的幾座城，就是伯特利和屬伯特利的鎮市，耶沙拿和屬耶沙拿的鎮市，以法拉音（或譯：以弗倫）和屬以法拉音的鎮市。Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured some cities from him: Bethel, Jeshanah, and Ephron, along with their villages.

²⁰亞比雅在世的時候，耶羅波安不能再強盛；耶和華攻擊他，他就死了。Jeroboam did not again recover his power during the days of Abijah, and the LORD struck him down and he died.

²¹亞比雅卻漸漸強盛，娶妻妾十四個，生了二十二個兒子，十六個女兒。But Abijah grew strong, married fourteen wives, and became the father of twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters.

²²亞比雅其餘的事和他的言行都寫在先知易多的傳上。Now the rest of the acts of Abijah, along with his ways and his words, are written in the Treatise of the Prophet Iddo.

亞撒除掉偶像，國中太平

¹亞比雅與他列祖同睡，葬在大衛城裡。他兒子亞撒接續他作王。亞撒年間，國中太平十年。Then Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. And his son Asa reigned in his place, and in his days the land was at peace for ten years.

³除掉外邦神的壇和邱壇，打碎柱像，砍下木偶，He removed the foreign altars and high places, shattered the sacred pillars, and chopped down the Asherah poles.

⁴吩咐猶大人尋求耶和華─他們列祖的　神，遵行他的律法、誡命；He commanded the people of Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to observe the law and the commandments.

⁵又在猶大各城邑除掉邱壇和日像，那時國享太平；He also removed the high places and incense altars from all the cities of Judah, and under him the kingdom was at peace.

⁶又在猶大建造了幾座堅固城。國中太平數年，沒有戰爭，因為耶和華賜他平安。Because the land was at peace, Asa built fortified cities in Judah. In those days no one made war with him, because the LORD had given him rest.

⁷他對猶大人說：「我們要建造這些城邑，四圍築牆，蓋樓，安門，做閂；地還屬我們，是因尋求耶和華─我們的　神；我們既尋求他，他就賜我們四境平安。」於是建造城邑，諸事亨通。So he said to the people of Judah, “Let us build these cities and surround them with walls and towers, with doors and bars. The land is still ours because we have sought the LORD our God. We have sought Him, and He has given us rest on every side.” So they built and prospered.

⁸亞撒的軍兵，出自猶大拿盾牌拿槍的三十萬人；出自便雅憫拿盾牌拉弓的二十八萬人。這都是大能的勇士。Asa had an army of 300,000 men from Judah bearing large shields and spears, and 280,000 men from Benjamin bearing small shields and drawing the bow. All these were mighty men of valor.

擊敗古實王謝拉

⁹有古實王謝拉率領軍兵一百萬，戰車三百輛，出來攻擊猶大人，到了瑪利沙。Then Zerah the Cushite came against them with an army of 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots, and they advanced as far as Mareshah.

¹⁰於是亞撒出去與他迎敵，就在瑪利沙的洗法谷彼此擺陣。So Asa marched out against him and lined up in battle formation in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.

¹¹亞撒呼求耶和華─他的　神說：「耶和華啊，惟有你能幫助軟弱的，勝過強盛的。耶和華─我們的　神啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們仰賴你，奉你的名來攻擊這大軍。耶和華啊，你是我們的　神，不要容人勝過你。」Then Asa cried out to the LORD his God: “O LORD, there is no one besides You to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on You, and in Your name we have come against this multitude. O LORD, You are our God. Do not let a mere mortal prevail against You.”

¹²於是耶和華使古實人敗在亞撒和猶大人面前，古實人就逃跑了；So the LORD struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah, and the Cushites fled.

¹³亞撒和跟隨他的軍兵追趕他們，直到基拉耳。古實人被殺的甚多，不能再強盛，因為敗在耶和華與他軍兵面前。猶大人就奪了許多財物，Then Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar. The Cushites fell and could not recover, for they were crushed before the LORD and His army. So the people of Judah carried off a great amount of plunder

¹⁴又打破基拉耳四圍的城邑；耶和華使其中的人都甚恐懼。猶大人又將所有的城擄掠一空，因其中的財物甚多，and attacked all the cities around Gerar, because the terror of the LORD had fallen upon them. They plundered all the cities, since there was much plunder there.

¹⁵又毀壞了群畜的圈，奪取許多的羊和駱駝，就回耶路撒冷去了。They also attacked the tents of the herdsmen and carried off many sheep and camels. Then they returned to Jerusalem.

先知亞撒利雅的勸勉

¹神的靈感動俄德的兒子亞撒利雅。Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded.

²他出來迎接亞撒，對他說：「亞撒和猶大、便雅憫眾人哪，要聽我說：你們若順從耶和華，耶和華必與你們同在；你們若尋求他，就必尋見；你們若離棄他，他必離棄你們。So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

³以色列人不信真　神，沒有訓誨的祭司，也沒有律法，已經好久了；For many years Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to instruct them, and without the law.

⁴但他們在急難的時候歸向耶和華─以色列的　神，尋求他，他就被他們尋見。But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.

⁵那時，出入的人不得平安，列國的居民都遭大亂；In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.

⁶這國攻擊那國，這城攻擊那城，互相破壞，因為　神用各樣災難擾亂他們。Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God afflicted them with all kinds of adversity.

⁷現在你們要剛強，不要手軟，因你們所行的必得賞賜。」But as for you, be strong; do not be discouraged, for your work will be rewarded.”

百姓立約尋求神

⁸亞撒聽見這話和俄德兒子先知亞撒利雅的預言，就壯起膽來，在猶大、便雅憫全地，並以法蓮山地所奪的各城，將可憎之物盡都除掉，又在耶和華殿的廊前重新修築耶和華的壇；When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD’s temple.

⁹又招聚猶大、便雅憫的眾人，並他們中間寄居的以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、西緬人。有許多以色列人歸降亞撒，因見耶和華─他的　神與他同在。And he assembled all Judah and Benjamin, along with those from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who had settled among them, for great numbers had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

¹⁰亞撒十五年三月，他們都聚集在耶路撒冷。So they gathered together in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.

¹¹當日他們從所取的擄物中，將牛七百隻、羊七千隻獻給耶和華。At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the plunder they had brought back.

¹²他們就立約，要盡心盡性地尋求耶和華─他們列祖的　神。Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.

¹³凡不尋求耶和華─以色列　神的，無論大小、男女，必被治死。And whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.

¹⁴他們就大聲歡呼，吹號吹角，向耶和華起誓。They took an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, trumpets, and rams’ horns.

¹⁵猶大眾人為所起的誓歡喜；因他們是盡心起誓，盡意尋求耶和華，耶和華就被他們尋見，且賜他們四境平安。And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it with all their heart. They had sought Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.

亞撒貶了太后瑪迦

¹⁶亞撒王貶了他祖母瑪迦太后的位，因她造了可憎的偶像亞舍拉。亞撒砍下她的偶像，搗得粉碎，燒在汲淪溪邊。King Asa also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole, crushed it, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.

¹⁷只是邱壇還沒有從以色列中廢去，然而亞撒的心一生誠實。The high places were not removed from Israel, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted all his days.

¹⁸亞撒將他父所分別為聖、與自己所分別為聖的金銀和器皿都奉到　神的殿裡。And he brought into the house of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.

¹⁹從這時直到亞撒三十五年，都沒有爭戰的事。And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

亞撒仰賴亞蘭王

¹亞撒三十六年，以色列王巴沙上來攻擊猶大，修築拉瑪，不許人從猶大王亞撒那裡出入。In the thirty-sixth year of Asa’s reign, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.

²於是亞撒從耶和華殿和王宮的府庫裡拿出金銀來，送與住大馬士革的亞蘭王便‧哈達，說：So Asa withdrew the silver and gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD and the royal palace, and he sent it with this message to Ben-hadad king of Aram, who was ruling in Damascus:

³「你父曾與我父立約，我與你也要立約。現在我將金銀送給你，求你廢掉你與以色列王巴沙所立的約，使他離開我。」“Let there be a treaty between me and you as there was between my father and your father. See, I have sent you silver and gold. Now go and break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.”

⁴便‧哈達聽從亞撒王的話，派軍長去攻擊以色列的城邑。他們就攻破以雲、但、亞伯‧瑪音，和拿弗他利一切的積貨城。And Ben-hadad listened to King Asa and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel, conquering Ijon, Dan, Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.

⁵巴沙聽見就停工，不修築拉瑪了。When Baasha learned of this, he stopped fortifying Ramah and abandoned his work.

⁶於是亞撒王率領猶大眾人，將巴沙修築拉瑪所用的石頭、木頭都運去，用以修築迦巴和米斯巴。Then King Asa brought all the men of Judah, and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timbers Baasha had used for building. And with these materials he built up Geba and Mizpah.

先見哈拿尼的責備

⁷那時，先見哈拿尼來見猶大王亞撒，對他說：「因你仰賴亞蘭王，沒有仰賴耶和華─你的　神，所以亞蘭王的軍兵脫離了你的手。At that time Hanani the seer came to King Asa of Judah and told him, “Because you have relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand.

⁸古實人、路比人的軍隊不是甚大嗎？戰車馬兵不是極多嗎？只因你仰賴耶和華，他便將他們交在你手裡。Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen? Yet because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand.

⁹耶和華的眼目遍察全地，要顯大能幫助向他心存誠實的人。你這事行得愚昧；此後，你必有爭戰的事。」For the eyes of the LORD roam to and fro over all the earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully devoted to Him. You have acted foolishly in this matter. From now on, therefore, you will be at war.”

¹⁰亞撒因此惱恨先見，將他囚在監裡。那時亞撒也虐待一些人民。Asa was angry with the seer and became so enraged over this matter that he put the man in prison. And at the same time Asa oppressed some of the people.

亞撒晚年患病而死

¹¹亞撒所行的事，自始至終都寫在猶大和以色列諸王記上。Now the acts of Asa, from beginning to end, are indeed written in the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

¹²亞撒作王三十九年，他腳上有病，而且甚重。病的時候沒有求耶和華，只求醫生。In the thirty-ninth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet, and his disease became increasingly severe. Yet even in his illness he did not seek the LORD, but only the physicians.

¹³他作王四十一年而死，與他列祖同睡，So in the forty-first year of his reign, Asa died and rested with his fathers.

¹⁴葬在大衛城自己所鑿的墳墓裡，放在床上，其床堆滿各樣馨香的香料，就是按做香的作法調和的香料，又為他燒了許多的物件。And he was buried in the tomb that he had cut out for himself in the City of David. They laid him on a bier that was full of spices and various blended perfumes; then they made a great fire in his honor.

分散的人到處傳道

⁴那些分散的人往各處去傳道。Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.

腓利在撒馬利亞

⁵腓利下撒馬利亞城去，宣講基督。Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ to them.

⁶眾人聽見了，又看見腓利所行的神蹟，就同心合意地聽從他的話。The crowds all paid close attention to Philip’s message and to the signs they saw him perform.

⁷因為有許多人被污鬼附著，那些鬼大聲呼叫，從他們身上出來；還有許多癱瘓的、瘸腿的，都得了醫治。With loud shrieks, unclean spirits came out of many who were possessed, and many of the paralyzed and lame were healed.

⁸在那城裡，就大有歡喜。So there was great joy in that city.

行邪術的西門

⁹有一個人，名叫西門，向來在那城裡行邪術，妄自尊大，使撒馬利亞的百姓驚奇；Prior to that time, a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and astounded the people of Samaria. He claimed to be someone great,

¹⁰無論大小都聽從他，說：「這人就是那稱為　神的大能者。」and all the people, from the least to the greatest, heeded his words and said, “This man is the divine power called the Great Power.”

¹¹他們聽從他，因他久用邪術，使他們驚奇。They paid close attention to him because he had astounded them for a long time with his sorcery.

¹²及至他們信了腓利所傳　神國的福音和耶穌基督的名，連男帶女就受了洗。But when they believed Philip as he preached the gospel of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

¹³西門自己也信了；既受了洗，就常與腓利在一處，看見他所行的神蹟和大異能，就甚驚奇。Even Simon himself believed and was baptized. He followed Philip closely and was astounded by the great signs and miracles he observed.

彼得、約翰為撒馬利亞人禱告

¹⁴使徒在耶路撒冷聽見撒馬利亞人領受了　神的道，就打發彼得、約翰往他們那裡去。When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

¹⁵兩個人到了，就為他們禱告，要叫他們受聖靈。On their arrival, they prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit.

¹⁶因為聖靈還沒有降在他們一個人身上，他們只奉主耶穌的名受了洗。For the Holy Spirit had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

¹⁷於是使徒按手在他們頭上，他們就受了聖靈。Then Peter and John laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

西門想用錢買權柄

¹⁸西門看見使徒按手，便有聖靈賜下，就拿錢給使徒，When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money.

¹⁹說：「把這權柄也給我，叫我手按著誰，誰就可以受聖靈。」“Give me this power as well,” he said, “so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

²⁰彼得說：「你的銀子和你一同滅亡吧！因你想　神的恩賜是可以用錢買的。But Peter replied, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money!

²¹你在這道上無分無關；因為在　神面前，你的心不正。You have no part or share in our ministry, because your heart is not right before God.

²²你當懊悔你這罪惡，祈求主，或者你心裡的意念可得赦免。Repent, therefore, of your wickedness, and pray to the Lord. Perhaps He will forgive you for the intent of your heart.

²³我看出你正在苦膽之中，被罪惡捆綁。」For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and captive to iniquity.”

²⁴西門說：「願你們為我求主，叫你們所說的，沒有一樣臨到我身上。」Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me, so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”

沿路傳福音回耶路撒冷

²⁵使徒既證明主道，而且傳講，就回耶路撒冷去，一路在撒馬利亞好些村莊傳揚福音。And after Peter and John had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many of the Samaritan villages.
