亞倫的兒子

¹耶和華在西奈山曉諭摩西的日子，亞倫和摩西的後代如下：This is the account of Aaron and Moses at the time the LORD spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.

²亞倫的兒子，長子名叫拿答，還有亞比戶、以利亞撒、以他瑪。These are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, then Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

³這是亞倫兒子的名字，都是受膏的祭司，是摩西叫他們承接聖職供祭司職分的。These were Aaron’s sons, the anointed priests, who were ordained to serve as priests.

⁴拿答、亞比戶在西奈的曠野向耶和華獻凡火的時候就死在耶和華面前了。他們也沒有兒子。以利亞撒、以他瑪在他們的父親亞倫面前供祭司的職分。Nadab and Abihu, however, died in the presence of the LORD when they offered unauthorized fire before the LORD in the Wilderness of Sinai. And since they had no sons, only Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests during the lifetime of their father Aaron.

利未人要服事祭司

⁵耶和華曉諭摩西說：Then the LORD said to Moses,

⁶「你使利未支派近前來，站在祭司亞倫面前好服事他，“Bring the tribe of Levi and present them to Aaron the priest to assist him.

⁷替他和會眾在會幕前守所吩咐的，辦理帳幕的事。They are to perform duties for him and for the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, attending to the service of the tabernacle.

⁸又要看守會幕的器具，並守所吩咐以色列人的，辦理帳幕的事。They shall take care of all the furnishings of the Tent of Meeting and fulfill obligations for the Israelites by attending to the service of the tabernacle.

⁹你要將利未人給亞倫和他的兒子，因為他們是從以色列人中選出來給他的。Assign the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they have been given exclusively to him from among the Israelites.

¹⁰你要囑咐亞倫和他的兒子謹守自己祭司的職任。近前來的外人必被治死。」So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons to carry out the duties of the priesthood; but any outsider who approaches the tabernacle must be put to death.”

利未人代替頭生的

¹¹耶和華曉諭摩西說：Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

¹²「我從以色列人中揀選了利未人，代替以色列人一切頭生的；利未人要歸我。“Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel in place of every firstborn Israelite from the womb. The Levites belong to Me,

¹³因為凡頭生的是我的；我在埃及地擊殺一切頭生的那日就把以色列中一切頭生的，連人帶牲畜都分別為聖歸我；他們定要屬我。我是耶和華。」for all the firstborn are Mine. On the day I struck down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, I consecrated to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They are Mine; I am the LORD.”

數點利未人

¹⁴耶和華在西奈的曠野曉諭摩西說：Then the LORD spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, saying,

¹⁵「你要照利未人的宗族、家室數點他們。凡一個月以外的男子都要數點。」“Number the Levites by their families and clans. You are to count every male a month old or more.”

¹⁶於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐的數點他們。So Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he had been commanded.

¹⁷利未眾子的名字是革順、哥轄、米拉利。These were the sons of Levi by name: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

¹⁸革順的兒子，按著家室，是立尼、示每。These were the names of the sons of Gershon by their clans: Libni and Shimei.

¹⁹哥轄的兒子，按著家室，是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛。The sons of Kohath by their clans were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

²⁰米拉利的兒子，按著家室，是抹利、母示。這些按著宗族是利未人的家室。And the sons of Merari by their clans were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of the Levites, according to their families.

革順族：西邊，看守幔幕

²¹屬革順的，有立尼族、示每族。這是革順的二族。From Gershon came the Libnite clan and the Shimeite clan; these were the Gershonite clans.

²²其中被數、從一個月以外所有的男子共有七千五百名。The number of all the males a month old or more was 7,500.

²³這革順的二族要在帳幕後西邊安營。The Gershonite clans were to camp on the west, behind the tabernacle,

²⁴拉伊勒的兒子以利雅薩作革順人宗族的首領。and the leader of the families of the Gershonites was Eliasaph son of Lael.

²⁵革順的子孫在會幕中所要看守的，就是帳幕和罩棚，並罩棚的蓋與會幕的門簾，The duties of the Gershonites at the Tent of Meeting were the tabernacle and tent, its covering, the curtain for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,

²⁶院子的帷子和門簾（院子是圍帳幕和壇的），並一切使用的繩子。the curtains of the courtyard, the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard that surrounds the tabernacle and altar, and the cords—all the service for these items.

哥轄族：南邊，看守約櫃和器具

²⁷屬哥轄的，有暗蘭族、以斯哈族、希伯倫族、烏薛族。這是哥轄的諸族。From Kohath came the clans of the Amramites, the Izharites, the Hebronites, and the Uzzielites; these were the clans of the Kohathites.

²⁸按所有男子的數目，從一個月以外看守聖所的，共有八千六百名。The number of all the males a month old or more was 8,600. They were responsible for the duties of the sanctuary.

²⁹哥轄兒子的諸族要在帳幕的南邊安營。The clans of the Kohathites were to camp on the south side of the tabernacle,

³⁰烏薛的兒子以利撒反作哥轄宗族家室的首領。and the leader of the families of the Kohathites was Elizaphan son of Uzziel.

³¹他們所要看守的是約櫃、桌子、燈臺、兩座壇與聖所內使用的器皿，並簾子和一切使用之物。Their duties were the ark, the table, the lampstand, the altars, the articles of the sanctuary used with them, and the curtain—all the service for these items.

³²祭司亞倫的兒子以利亞撒作利未人眾首領的領袖，要監察那些看守聖所的人。The chief of the leaders of the Levites was Eleazar son of Aaron the priest; he oversaw those responsible for the duties of the sanctuary.

米拉利族：北邊，看守板和柱子

³³屬米拉利的，有抹利族、母示族。這是米拉利的二族。From Merari came the clans of the Mahlites and Mushites; these were the Merarite clans.

³⁴他們被數的，按所有男子的數目，從一個月以外的，共有六千二百名。The number of all the males a month old or more was 6,200.

³⁵亞比亥的兒子蘇列作米拉利二宗族的首領。他們要在帳幕的北邊安營。The leader of the families of the Merarites was Zuriel son of Abihail; they were to camp on the north side of the tabernacle.

³⁶米拉利子孫的職分是看守帳幕的板、閂、柱子、帶卯的座，和帳幕一切所使用的器具，The duties assigned to the sons of Merari were the tabernacle’s frames, crossbars, posts, bases, and all its equipment—all the service for these items,

³⁷院子四圍的柱子、帶卯的座、橛子，和繩子。as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, and ropes.

摩西和亞倫在東邊

³⁸在帳幕前東邊，向日出之地安營的是摩西、亞倫，和亞倫的兒子。他們看守聖所，替以色列人守耶和華所吩咐的。近前來的外人必被治死。Moses, Aaron, and Aaron’s sons were to camp to the east of the tabernacle, toward the sunrise, before the Tent of Meeting. They were to perform the duties of the sanctuary as a service on behalf of the Israelites; but any outsider who approached the sanctuary was to be put to death.

³⁹凡被數的利未人，就是摩西、亞倫照耶和華吩咐所數的，按著家室，從一個月以外的男子，共有二萬二千名。The total number of Levites that Moses and Aaron counted by their clans at the LORD’s command, including all the males a month old or more, was 22,000.

贖回多出的頭生者

⁴⁰耶和華對摩西說：「你要從以色列人中數點一個月以外、凡頭生的男子，把他們的名字記下。Then the LORD said to Moses, “Number every firstborn male of the Israelites a month old or more, and list their names.

⁴¹我是耶和華。你要揀選利未人歸我，代替以色列人所有頭生的，也取利未人的牲畜代替以色列所有頭生的牲畜。」You are to take the Levites for Me—I am the LORD—in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of all the firstborn of the livestock of the Israelites.”

⁴²摩西就照耶和華所吩咐的把以色列人頭生的都數點了。So Moses numbered all the firstborn of the Israelites, as the LORD had commanded him.

⁴³按人名的數目，從一個月以外、凡頭生的男子，共有二萬二千二百七十三名。The total number of the firstborn males a month old or more, listed by name, was 22,273.

⁴⁴耶和華曉諭摩西說：Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

⁴⁵「你揀選利未人代替以色列人所有頭生的，也取利未人的牲畜代替以色列人的牲畜。利未人要歸我；我是耶和華。“Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites belong to Me; I am the LORD.

⁴⁶以色列人中頭生的男子比利未人多二百七十三個，必當將他們贖出來。To redeem the 273 firstborn Israelites who outnumber the Levites,

⁴⁷你要按人丁，照聖所的平，每人取贖銀五舍客勒（一舍客勒是二十季拉），you are to collect five shekels for each one, according to the sanctuary shekel of twenty gerahs.

⁴⁸把那多餘之人的贖銀交給亞倫和他的兒子。」Give the money to Aaron and his sons as the redemption price for the excess among the Israelites.”

⁴⁹於是摩西從那被利未人所贖以外的人取了贖銀。So Moses collected the redemption money from those in excess of the number redeemed by the Levites.

⁵⁰從以色列人頭生的所取之銀，按聖所的平，有一千三百六十五舍客勒。He collected the money from the firstborn of the Israelites: 1,365 shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel.

⁵¹摩西照耶和華的話把這贖銀給亞倫和他的兒子，正如耶和華所吩咐的。And Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons in obedience to the word of the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.

哥轄子孫搬運至聖之物

¹耶和華曉諭摩西、亞倫說：Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

²「你從利未人中，將哥轄子孫的總數，照他們的家室、宗族，“Take a census of the Kohathites among the Levites by their clans and families,

³從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，全都計算。men from thirty to fifty years old—everyone who is qualified to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.

⁴哥轄子孫在會幕搬運至聖之物，所辦的事乃是這樣：This service of the Kohathites at the Tent of Meeting regards the most holy things.

⁵起營的時候，亞倫和他兒子要進去摘下遮掩櫃的幔子，用以蒙蓋法櫃，Whenever the camp sets out, Aaron and his sons are to go in, take down the veil of the curtain, and cover the ark of the Testimony with it.

⁶又用海狗皮蓋在上頭，再蒙上純藍色的毯子，把槓穿上。They are to place over this a covering of fine leather, spread a solid blue cloth over it, and insert its poles.

⁷又用藍色毯子鋪在陳設餅的桌子上，將盤子、調羹、奠酒的爵，和杯擺在上頭。桌子上也必有常設的餅。Over the table of the Presence they are to spread a blue cloth and place the plates and cups on it, along with the bowls and pitchers for the drink offering. The regular bread offering is to remain on it.

⁸在其上又要蒙朱紅色的毯子，再蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。And they shall spread a scarlet cloth over them, cover them with fine leather, and insert the poles.

⁹要拿藍色毯子，把燈臺和燈臺上所用的燈盞、剪子、蠟花盤，並一切盛油的器皿，全都遮蓋。They are to take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand used for light, together with its lamps, wick trimmers, and trays, as well as the jars of oil with which to supply it.

¹⁰又要把燈臺和燈臺的一切器具包在海狗皮裡，放在抬架上。Then they shall wrap it and all its utensils inside a covering of fine leather and put it on the carrying frame.

¹¹在金壇上要鋪藍色毯子，蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。Over the gold altar they are to spread a blue cloth, cover it with fine leather, and insert the poles.

¹²又要把聖所用的一切器具包在藍色毯子裡，用海狗皮蒙上，放在抬架上。They are to take all the utensils for serving in the sanctuary, place them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine leather, and put them on the carrying frame.

¹³要收去壇上的灰，把紫色毯子鋪在壇上；Then they shall remove the ashes from the bronze altar, spread a purple cloth over it,

¹⁴又要把所用的一切器具，就是火鼎、肉鍤子、鏟子、盤子，一切屬壇的器具都擺在壇上，又蒙上海狗皮，把槓穿上。and place on it all the vessels used to serve there: the firepans, meat forks, shovels, and sprinkling bowls—all the equipment of the altar. They are to spread over it a covering of fine leather and insert the poles.

¹⁵將要起營的時候，亞倫和他兒子把聖所和聖所的一切器具遮蓋完了，哥轄的子孫就要來抬，只是不可摸聖物，免得他們死亡。會幕裡這些物件是哥轄子孫所當抬的。When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all their equipment, as soon as the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites shall come and do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy objects, or they will die. These are the transportation duties of the Kohathites regarding the Tent of Meeting.

以利亞撒的職責

¹⁶「祭司亞倫的兒子以利亞撒所要看守的是點燈的油與香料，並當獻的素祭和膏油，也要看守全帳幕與其中所有的，並聖所和聖所的器具。」Eleazar son of Aaron the priest shall oversee the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil. He has oversight of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including the holy objects and their utensils.”

¹⁷耶和華曉諭摩西、亞倫說：Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron,

¹⁸「你們不可將哥轄人的支派從利未人中剪除。“Do not allow the Kohathite tribal clans to be cut off from among the Levites.

¹⁹他們挨近至聖物的時候，亞倫和他兒子要進去派他們各人所當辦的，所當抬的。這樣待他們，好使他們活著，不致死亡。In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and assign each man his task and what he is to carry.

²⁰只是他們連片時不可進去觀看聖所，免得他們死亡。」But the Kohathites are not to go in and look at the holy objects, even for a moment, or they will die.”

革順子孫的工作

²¹耶和華曉諭摩西說：And the LORD said to Moses,

²²「你要將革順子孫的總數，照著宗族、家室，“Take a census of the Gershonites as well, by their families and clans,

²³從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，全都數點。from thirty to fifty years old, counting everyone who comes to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.

²⁴革順人各族所辦的事、所抬的物乃是這樣：This is the service of the Gershonite clans regarding work and transport:

²⁵他們要抬帳幕的幔子和會幕，並會幕的蓋與其上的海狗皮，和會幕的門簾，They are to carry the curtains of the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting with the covering of fine leather over it, the curtains for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,

²⁶院子的帷子和門簾（院子是圍帳幕和壇的）、繩子，並所用的器具，不論是做甚麼用的，他們都要經理。the curtains of the courtyard, and the curtains for the entrance at the gate of the courtyard that surrounds the tabernacle and altar, along with their ropes and all the equipment for their service. The Gershonites will do all that needs to be done with these items.

²⁷革順的子孫在一切抬物辦事之上都要憑亞倫和他兒子的吩咐；他們所當抬的，要派他們看守。All the service of the Gershonites—all their transport duties and other work—is to be done at the direction of Aaron and his sons; you are to assign to them all that they are responsible to carry.

²⁸這是革順子孫的各族在會幕裡所辦的事；他們所看守的，必在祭司亞倫兒子以他瑪的手下。」This is the service of the Gershonite clans at the Tent of Meeting, and their duties shall be under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.

米拉利子孫的工作

²⁹「至於米拉利的子孫，你要照著家室、宗族把他們數點。As for the sons of Merari, you are to number them by their clans and families,

³⁰從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，你都要數點。from thirty to fifty years old, counting everyone who comes to serve in the work of the Tent of Meeting.

³¹他們辦理會幕的事，就是抬帳幕的板、閂、柱子，和帶卯的座，This is the duty for all their service at the Tent of Meeting: to carry the frames of the tabernacle with its crossbars, posts, and bases,

³²院子四圍的柱子和其上帶卯的座、橛子、繩子，並一切使用的器具。他們所抬的器具，你們要按名指定。and the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, and ropes, including all their equipment and everything related to their use. You shall assign by name the items that they are responsible to carry.

³³這是米拉利子孫各族在會幕裡所辦的事，都在祭司亞倫兒子以他瑪的手下。」This is the service of the Merarite clans according to all their work at the Tent of Meeting, under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.”

被數點的利未人

³⁴摩西、亞倫與會眾的諸首領將哥轄的子孫，照著家室、宗族，So Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of the congregation numbered the Kohathites by their clans and families,

³⁵從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，都數點了。everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.

³⁶被數的共有二千七百五十名。And those numbered by their clans totaled 2,750.

³⁷這是哥轄各族中被數的，是在會幕裡辦事的，就是摩西、亞倫照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐數點的。These were counted from the Kohathite clans, everyone who could serve at the Tent of Meeting. Moses and Aaron numbered them according to the command of the LORD through Moses.

³⁸革順子孫被數的，照著家室、宗族，Then the Gershonites were numbered by their clans and families,

^39–40從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，共有二千六百三十名。everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting. And those numbered by their clans and families totaled 2,630.

⁴¹這是革順子孫各族中被數的，是在會幕裡辦事的，就是摩西、亞倫照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐數點的。These were counted from the Gershonite clans who served at the Tent of Meeting, whom Moses and Aaron counted at the LORD’s command.

⁴²米拉利子孫中各族被數的，照著家室、宗族，And the Merarites were numbered by their clans and families,

^43–44從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡辦事的，共有三千二百名。everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting. The men registered by their clans numbered 3,200.

⁴⁵這是米拉利子孫各族中被數的，就是摩西、亞倫照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐數點的。These were counted from the Merarite clans, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the LORD’s command through Moses.

⁴⁶凡被數的利未人，就是摩西、亞倫並以色列眾首領，照著家室、宗族所數點的，So Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of Israel numbered by their clans and families all the Levites

^47–48從三十歲直到五十歲，凡前來任職、在會幕裡做抬物之工的，共有八千五百八十名。from thirty to fifty years old who came to do the work of serving and carrying the Tent of Meeting. And the number of men was 8,580.

⁴⁹摩西按他們所辦的事、所抬的物，憑耶和華的吩咐數點他們；他們這樣被摩西數點，正如耶和華所吩咐他的。At the LORD’s command through Moses they were numbered, and each one was assigned his work and burden, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

在家鄉被厭棄

¹耶穌離開那裡，來到自己的家鄉；門徒也跟從他。Jesus went on from there and came to His hometown, accompanied by His disciples.

²到了安息日，他在會堂裡教訓人。眾人聽見，就甚希奇，說：「這人從哪裡有這些事呢？所賜給他的是甚麼智慧？他手所做的是何等的異能呢？When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles?

³這不是那木匠嗎？不是馬利亞的兒子雅各、約西、猶大、西門的長兄嗎？他妹妹們不也是在我們這裡嗎？」他們就厭棄他（厭棄他：原文是因他跌倒）。Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took offense at Him.

⁴耶穌對他們說：「大凡先知，除了本地、親屬、本家之外，沒有不被人尊敬的。」Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”

⁵耶穌就在那裡不得行甚麼異能，不過按手在幾個病人身上，治好他們。So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them.

⁶他也詫異他們不信，就往周圍鄉村教訓人去了。And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He went around from village to village, teaching the people.

差遣十二個門徒

⁷耶穌叫了十二個門徒來，差遣他們兩個兩個地出去，也賜給他們權柄，制伏污鬼；Then Jesus called the Twelve to Him and began to send them out two by two, giving them authority over unclean spirits.

⁸並且囑咐他們：「行路的時候不要帶食物和口袋，腰袋裡也不要帶錢，除了柺杖以外，甚麼都不要帶；He instructed them to take nothing but a staff for the journey—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts—

⁹只要穿鞋，也不要穿兩件褂子」；and to wear sandals, but not a second tunic.

¹⁰又對他們說：「你們無論到何處，進了人的家，就住在那裡，直到離開那地方。And He told them, “When you enter a house, stay there until you leave that area.

¹¹何處的人不接待你們，不聽你們，你們離開那裡的時候，就把腳上的塵土跺下去，對他們作見證。」If anyone will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that place, as a testimony against them.”

門徒出去傳道

¹²門徒就出去傳道，叫人悔改，So they set out and preached that the people should repent.

¹³又趕出許多的鬼，用油抹了許多病人，治好他們。They also drove out many demons and healed many of the sick, anointing them with oil.

希律以為約翰復活了

¹⁴耶穌的名聲傳揚出來。希律王聽見了，就說：「施洗的約翰從死裡復活了，所以這些異能由他裡面發出來。」Now King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known, and people were saying, “John the Baptist has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

¹⁵但別人說：「是以利亞。」又有人說：「是先知，正像先知中的一位。」Others were saying, “He is Elijah,” and still others, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.”

¹⁶希律聽見卻說：「是我所斬的約翰，他復活了。」But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has risen from the dead!”

約翰被囚的原因

¹⁷先是希律為他兄弟腓力的妻子希羅底的緣故，差人去拿住約翰，鎖在監裡，因為希律已經娶了那婦人。For Herod himself had ordered that John be arrested and bound and imprisoned, on account of his brother Philip’s wife Herodias, whom Herod had married.

¹⁸約翰曾對希律說：「你娶你兄弟的妻子是不合理的。」For John had been telling Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife!”

¹⁹於是希羅底懷恨他，想要殺他，只是不能；So Herodias held a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she had been unable,

²⁰因為希律知道約翰是義人，是聖人，所以敬畏他，保護他，聽他講論，就多照著行（有古卷：游移不定），並且樂意聽他。because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man. When he heard John’s words, he was greatly perplexed; yet he listened to him gladly.

希律的生日筵席

²¹有一天，恰巧是希律的生日，希律擺設筵席，請了大臣和千夫長，並加利利作首領的。On Herod’s birthday, her opportunity arose. Herod held a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.

²²希羅底的女兒進來跳舞，使希律和同席的人都歡喜。王就對女子說：「你隨意向我求甚麼，我必給你。」When the daughter of Herodias came and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests, and the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.”

²³又對她起誓說：「隨你向我求甚麼，就是我國的一半，我也必給你。」And he swore to her, “Whatever you ask of me, I will give you, up to half my kingdom!”

²⁴她就出去對她母親說：「我可以求甚麼呢？」她母親說：「施洗約翰的頭。」Then she went out and asked her mother, “What should I request?” And her mother answered, “The head of John the Baptist.”

²⁵她就急忙進去見王，求他說：「我願王立時把施洗約翰的頭放在盤子裡給我。」At once the girl hurried back to the king with her request: “I want you to give me the head of John the Baptist on a platter immediately.”

²⁶王就甚憂愁；但因他所起的誓，又因同席的人，就不肯推辭，The king was consumed with sorrow, but because of his oaths and his guests, he did not want to refuse her.

約翰在監裡被斬

²⁷隨即差一個護衛兵，吩咐拿約翰的頭來。護衛兵就去，在監裡斬了約翰，So without delay, the king commanded that John’s head be brought in. He sent an executioner, who went and beheaded him in the prison.

²⁸把頭放在盤子裡，拿來給女子，女子就給她母親。The man brought John’s head on a platter and presented it to the girl, who gave it to her mother.

²⁹約翰的門徒聽見了，就來把他的屍首領去，葬在墳墓裡。When John’s disciples heard about this, they came and took his body and placed it in a tomb.
