先知勸勉，重新動工

¹那時，先知哈該和易多的孫子撒迦利亞奉以色列　神的名向猶大和耶路撒冷的猶大人說勸勉的話。Later, the prophets Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo prophesied to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them.

²於是撒拉鐵的兒子所羅巴伯和約薩達的兒子耶書亞都起來動手建造耶路撒冷　神的殿，有　神的先知在那裡幫助他們。Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak rose up and began to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. And the prophets of God were with them, helping them.

總督達乃來查問

³當時河西的總督達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並他們的同黨來問說：「誰降旨讓你們建造這殿，修成這牆呢？」At that time Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates went to the Jews and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”

⁴我們便告訴他們建造這殿的人叫甚麼名字。They also asked, “What are the names of the men who are constructing this building?”

⁵神的眼目看顧猶大的長老，以致總督等沒有叫他們停工，直到這事奏告大流士，得著他的回諭。But the eye of their God was on the elders of the Jews, so that they were not stopped until a report was sent to Darius and written instructions about this matter were returned.

達乃給大流士的奏本

⁶河西的總督達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並他們的同黨，就是住河西的亞法薩迦人，上本奏告大流士王。This is the text of the letter that Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates, the officials in the region, sent to King Darius.

⁷本上寫著說：「願大流士王諸事平安。The report they sent him read as follows: To King Darius: All peace.

⁸王該知道，我們往猶大省去，到了至大　神的殿，這殿是用大石建造的。樑木插入牆內，工作甚速，他們手下亨通。Let it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judah, to the house of the great God. The people are rebuilding it with large stones and placing timbers in the walls. This work is being carried out diligently and is prospering in their hands.

⁹我們就問那些長老說：『誰降旨讓你們建造這殿，修成這牆呢？』So we questioned the elders and asked, “Who authorized you to rebuild this temple and restore this structure?”

¹⁰又問他們的名字，要記錄他們首領的名字，奏告於王。We also asked for their names, so that we could write down the names of their leaders for your information.

長老說明建殿的來歷

¹¹他們回答說：『我們是天地之　神的僕人，重建前多年所建造的殿，就是以色列的一位大君王建造修成的。And this is the answer they returned: “We are servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed.

¹²只因我們列祖惹天上的　神發怒，　神把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手中，他就拆毀這殿，又將百姓擄到巴比倫。But since our fathers angered the God of heaven, He delivered them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean who destroyed this temple and carried away the people to Babylon.

¹³然而巴比倫王塞魯士元年，他降旨允准建造　神的這殿。In the first year of his reign, however, Cyrus king of Babylon issued a decree to rebuild this house of God.

¹⁴神殿中的金、銀器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷的殿中掠去帶到巴比倫廟裡的，塞魯士王從巴比倫廟裡取出來，交給派為省長的，名叫設巴薩，He also removed from the temple of Babylon the gold and silver articles belonging to the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken and carried there from the temple in Jerusalem. King Cyrus gave these articles to a man named Sheshbazzar, whom he appointed governor

¹⁵對他說可以將這些器皿帶去，放在耶路撒冷的殿中，在原處建造　神的殿。and instructed, ‘Take these articles, put them in the temple in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its original site.’

¹⁶於是這設巴薩來建立耶路撒冷　神殿的根基。這殿從那時直到如今尚未造成。』So this Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God in Jerusalem, and from that time until now it has been under construction, but it has not yet been completed.”

¹⁷現在王若以為美，請察巴比倫王的府庫，看塞魯士王降旨允准在耶路撒冷建造　神的殿沒有，王的心意如何？請降旨曉諭我們。」Now, therefore, if it pleases the king, let a search be made of the royal archives in Babylon to see if King Cyrus did indeed issue a decree to rebuild the house of God in Jerusalem. Then let the king send us his decision in this matter.

找到塞魯士的詔書

¹於是大流士王降旨，要尋察典籍庫內，就是在巴比倫藏寶物之處；Thus King Darius ordered a search of the archives stored in the treasury of Babylon.

²在米底亞省亞馬他城的宮內尋得一卷，其中記著說：And a scroll was found in the fortress of Ecbatana, in the province of Media, with the following written on it: Memorandum:

³「塞魯士王元年，他降旨論到耶路撒冷　神的殿，要建造這殿為獻祭之處，堅立殿的根基。殿高六十肘，寬六十肘，In the first year of King Cyrus, he issued a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem: Let the house be rebuilt as a place for offering sacrifices, and let its foundations be firmly laid. It is to be sixty cubits high and sixty cubits wide,

⁴用三層大石頭，一層新木頭，經費要出於王庫；with three layers of cut stones and one of timbers. The costs are to be paid from the royal treasury.

⁵並且　神殿的金銀器皿，就是尼布甲尼撒從耶路撒冷的殿中掠到巴比倫的，要歸還帶到耶路撒冷的殿中，各按原處放在　神的殿裡。」Furthermore, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem and carried to Babylon, must also be returned to the temple in Jerusalem and deposited in the house of God.

大流士下令支持建殿

⁶「現在河西的總督達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並你們的同黨，就是住河西的亞法薩迦人，你們當遠離他們。Therefore Darius decreed: To Tattenai governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and your associates and officials in the region: You must stay away from that place!

⁷不要攔阻　神殿的工作，任憑猶大人的省長和猶大人的長老在原處建造　神的這殿。Leave this work on the house of God alone. Let the governor and elders of the Jews rebuild this house of God on its original site.

⁸我又降旨，吩咐你們向猶大人的長老為建造　神的殿當怎樣行，就是從河西的款項中，急速撥取貢銀作他們的經費，免得耽誤工作。I hereby decree what you must do for these elders of the Jews who are rebuilding this house of God: The cost is to be paid in full to these men from the royal treasury out of the taxes of the provinces west of the Euphrates, so that the work will not be hindered.

⁹他們與天上的　神獻燔祭所需用的公牛犢、公綿羊、綿羊羔，並所用的麥子、鹽、酒、油，都要照耶路撒冷祭司的話，每日供給他們，不得有誤；Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, and lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, as well as wheat, salt, wine, and oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given to them daily without fail.

¹⁰好叫他們獻馨香的祭給天上的　神，又為王和王眾子的壽命祈禱。Then they will be able to offer sacrifices of a sweet aroma to the God of heaven and to pray for the lives of the king and his sons.

¹¹我再降旨，無論誰更改這命令，必從他房屋中拆出一根樑來，把他舉起，懸在其上，又使他的房屋成為糞堆。I also decree that if any man interferes with this directive, a beam is to be torn from his house and raised up, and he is to be impaled on it. And his own house shall be made a pile of rubble for this offense.

¹²若有王和民伸手更改這命令，拆毀這殿，願那使耶路撒冷的殿作為他名居所的　神將他們滅絕。我─大流士降這旨意，當速速遵行。」May God, who has caused His Name to dwell there, overthrow any king or people who lifts a hand to alter this decree or to destroy this house of God in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have issued the decree. Let it be carried out with diligence.

聖殿完工

¹³於是，河西總督達乃和示他‧波斯乃，並他們的同黨，因大流士王所發的命令，就急速遵行。In response, Tattenai the governor of the region west of the Euphrates, Shethar-bozenai, and their associates diligently carried out what King Darius had decreed.

¹⁴猶大長老因先知哈該和易多的孫子撒迦利亞所說勸勉的話就建造這殿，凡事亨通。他們遵著以色列　神的命令和波斯王塞魯士、大流士、亞達薛西的旨意，建造完畢。So the Jewish elders built and prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah son of Iddo. They finished building according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia.

¹⁵大流士王第六年，亞達月初三日，這殿修成了。And this temple was completed on the third day of the month of Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.

行奉獻聖殿之禮

¹⁶以色列的祭司和利未人，並其餘被擄歸回的人都歡歡喜喜地行奉獻　神殿的禮。Then the people of Israel—the priests, the Levites, and the rest of the exiles—celebrated the dedication of the house of God with joy.

¹⁷行奉獻　神殿的禮就獻公牛一百隻，公綿羊二百隻，綿羊羔四百隻，又照以色列支派的數目獻公山羊十二隻，為以色列眾人作贖罪祭；For the dedication of the house of God they offered a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, and a sin offering for all Israel of twelve male goats, one for each tribe of Israel.

¹⁸且派祭司和利未人按著班次在耶路撒冷事奉　神，是照摩西律法書上所寫的。They also appointed the priests by their divisions and the Levites by their groups to the service of God in Jerusalem, according to what is written in the Book of Moses.

守逾越節和除酵節

¹⁹正月十四日，被擄歸回的人守逾越節。On the fourteenth day of the first month, the exiles kept the Passover.

²⁰原來，祭司和利未人一同自潔，無一人不潔淨。利未人為被擄歸回的眾人和他們的弟兄眾祭司，並為自己宰逾越節的羊羔。All the priests and Levites had purified themselves and were ceremonially clean. And the Levites slaughtered the Passover lamb for all the exiles, for their priestly brothers, and for themselves.

²¹從擄到之地歸回的以色列人和一切除掉所染外邦人污穢、歸附他們、要尋求耶和華─以色列　神的人都吃這羊羔，The Israelites who had returned from exile ate it, together with all who had separated themselves from the uncleanness of the peoples of the land to seek the LORD, the God of Israel.

²²歡歡喜喜地守除酵節七日；因為耶和華使他們歡喜，又使亞述王的心轉向他們，堅固他們的手，作以色列　神殿的工程。For seven days they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread with joy, because the LORD had made them joyful and turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them to strengthen their hands in the work on the house of the God of Israel.

割禮之爭

¹有幾個人從猶太下來，教訓弟兄們說：「你們若不按摩西的規條受割禮，不能得救。」Then some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

²保羅、巴拿巴與他們大大地紛爭辯論；眾門徒就定規，叫保羅、巴拿巴和本會中幾個人，為所辯論的，上耶路撒冷去見使徒和長老。And after engaging these men in sharp debate, Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.

上耶路撒冷見使徒和長老

³於是教會送他們起行。他們經過腓尼基、撒馬利亞，隨處傳說外邦人歸主的事，叫眾弟兄都甚歡喜。Sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.

⁴到了耶路撒冷，教會和使徒並長老都接待他們，他們就述說　神同他們所行的一切事。On their arrival in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and apostles and elders, to whom they reported all that God had done through them.

⁵惟有幾個信徒，是法利賽教門的人，起來說：「必須給外邦人行割禮，吩咐他們遵守摩西的律法。」But some believers from the party of the Pharisees stood up and declared, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses.”

彼得：同樣靠主耶穌的恩得救

⁶使徒和長老聚會商議這事；So the apostles and elders met to look into this matter.

⁷辯論已經多了，彼得就起來，說：「諸位弟兄，你們知道　神早已在你們中間揀選了我，叫外邦人從我口中得聽福音之道，而且相信。After much discussion, Peter got up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you that the Gentiles would hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.

⁸知道人心的　神也為他們作了見證，賜聖靈給他們，正如給我們一樣；And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as He did to us.

⁹又藉著信潔淨了他們的心，並不分他們我們。He made no distinction between us and them, for He cleansed their hearts by faith.

¹⁰現在為甚麼試探　神，要把我們祖宗和我們所不能負的軛放在門徒的頸項上呢？Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?

¹¹我們得救乃是因主耶穌的恩，和他們一樣，這是我們所信的。」On the contrary, we believe it is through the grace of the Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

巴拿巴和保羅述說神蹟

¹²眾人都默默無聲，聽巴拿巴和保羅述說　神藉他們在外邦人中所行的神蹟奇事。The whole assembly fell silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

雅各的結論

¹³他們住了聲，雅各就說：「諸位弟兄，請聽我的話。When they had finished speaking, James declared, “Brothers, listen to me!

¹⁴方才西門述說　神當初怎樣眷顧外邦人，從他們中間選取百姓歸於自己的名下；Simon has told us how God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people to be His own.

¹⁵眾先知的話也與這意思相合。The words of the prophets agree with this, as it is written:

¹⁶正如經上所寫的：此後，我要回來，重新修造大衛倒塌的帳幕，把那破壞的重新修造建立起來，‘After this I will return and rebuild the fallen tent of David. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will restore it,

¹⁷叫餘剩的人，就是凡稱為我名下的外邦人，都尋求主。so that the remnant of men may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does these things

¹⁸這話是從創世以來顯明這事的主說的。that have been known for ages.’

¹⁹「所以據我的意見，不可難為那歸服　神的外邦人；It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not cause trouble for the Gentiles who are turning to God.

²⁰只要寫信，吩咐他們禁戒偶像的污穢和姦淫，並勒死的牲畜和血。Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood.

²¹因為從古以來，摩西的書在各城有人傳講，每逢安息日，在會堂裡誦讀。」For Moses has been proclaimed in every city from ancient times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.”

揀選猶大和西拉帶信

²²那時，使徒和長老並全教會定意從他們中間揀選人，差他們和保羅、巴拿巴同往安提阿去；所揀選的就是稱呼巴撒巴的猶大和西拉。這兩個人在弟兄中是作首領的。Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to select men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas called Barsabbas and Silas, two leaders among the brothers,

給外邦信徒的信

²³於是寫信交付他們，內中說：「使徒和作長老的弟兄們問安提阿、敘利亞、基利家外邦眾弟兄的安。and sent them with this letter: The apostles and the elders, your brothers, To the brothers among the Gentiles in Antioch, Syria, and Cilicia: Greetings.

²⁴我們聽說，有幾個人從我們這裡出去，用言語攪擾你們，惑亂你們的心。（有古卷加：你們必須受割禮，守摩西的律法。）其實我們並沒有吩咐他們。It has come to our attention that some went out from us without our authorization and unsettled you, troubling your minds by what they said.

²⁵所以，我們同心定意，揀選幾個人，差他們同我們所親愛的巴拿巴和保羅往你們那裡去。So we all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

²⁶這二人是為我主耶穌基督的名不顧性命的。men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁷我們就差了猶大和西拉，他們也要親口訴說這些事。Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to tell you in person the same things we are writing.

²⁸因為聖靈和我們定意不將別的重擔放在你們身上，惟有幾件事是不可少的，It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond these essential requirements:

²⁹就是禁戒祭偶像的物和血，並勒死的牲畜和姦淫。這幾件你們若能自己禁戒不犯就好了。願你們平安！」You must abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things. Farewell.

安提阿的信徒歡喜

³⁰他們既奉了差遣，就下安提阿去，聚集眾人，交付書信。So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they assembled the congregation and delivered the letter.

³¹眾人念了，因為信上安慰的話就歡喜了。When the people read it, they rejoiced at its encouraging message.

³²猶大和西拉也是先知，就用許多話勸勉弟兄，堅固他們。Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.

³³住了些日子，弟兄們打發他們平平安安地回到差遣他們的人那裡去。（有古卷加：After spending some time there, they were sent off by the brothers in peace to return to those who had sent them.
