以利加拿一家

¹以法蓮山地的拉瑪．瑣非有一個以法蓮人，名叫以利加拿，是蘇弗的玄孫，託戶的曾孫，以利戶的孫子，耶羅罕的兒子。Now there was a man named Elkanah who was from Ramathaim-zophim in the hill country of Ephraim. He was the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

²他有兩個妻：一名哈拿，一名毘尼拿。毘尼拿有兒女，哈拿沒有兒女。He had two wives, one named Hannah and the other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.

³這人每年從本城上到示羅，敬拜祭祀萬軍之耶和華；在那裡有以利的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈當耶和華的祭司。Year after year Elkanah would go up from his city to worship and sacrifice to the LORD of Hosts at Shiloh, where Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests to the LORD.

⁴以利加拿每逢獻祭的日子，將祭肉分給他的妻毘尼拿和毘尼拿所生的兒女；And whenever the day came for Elkanah to present his sacrifice, he would give portions to his wife Peninnah and to all her sons and daughters.

⁵給哈拿的卻是雙分，因為他愛哈拿。無奈耶和華不使哈拿生育。But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved her even though the LORD had closed her womb.

⁶毘尼拿見耶和華不使哈拿生育，就作她的對頭，大大激動她，要使她生氣。Because the LORD had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival would provoke her viciously to taunt her.

⁷每年上到耶和華殿的時候，以利加拿都以雙分給哈拿；毘尼拿仍是激動她，以致她哭泣不吃飯。And this went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival taunted her until she wept and would not eat.

⁸她丈夫以利加拿對她說：「哈拿啊，你為何哭泣，不吃飯，心裡愁悶呢？有我不比十個兒子還好嗎？」“Hannah, why are you crying?” her husband Elkanah asked. “Why won’t you eat? Why is your heart so grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

哈拿在示羅流淚禱告

⁹他們在示羅吃喝完了，哈拿就站起來。祭司以利在耶和華殿的門框旁邊，坐在自己的位上。So after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the temple of the LORD.

¹⁰哈拿心裡愁苦，就痛痛哭泣，祈禱耶和華，In her bitter distress, Hannah prayed to the LORD and wept with many tears.

¹¹許願說：「萬軍之耶和華啊，你若垂顧婢女的苦情，眷念不忘婢女，賜我一個兒子，我必使他終身歸與耶和華，不用剃頭刀剃他的頭。」And she made a vow, saying, “O LORD of Hosts, if only You will look upon the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, not forgetting Your maidservant but giving her a son, then I will dedicate him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall ever touch his head.”

¹²哈拿在耶和華面前不住地祈禱，以利定睛看她的嘴。As Hannah kept on praying before the LORD, Eli watched her mouth.

¹³（原來哈拿心中默禱，只動嘴唇，不出聲音，因此以利以為她喝醉了。）Hannah was praying in her heart, and though her lips were moving, her voice could not be heard. So Eli thought she was drunk

¹⁴以利對她說：「你要醉到幾時呢？你不應該喝酒。」and said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put away your wine!”

¹⁵哈拿回答說：「主啊，不是這樣。我是心裡愁苦的婦人，清酒濃酒都沒有喝，但在耶和華面前傾心吐意。“No, my lord,” Hannah replied. “I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have not had any wine or strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the LORD.

¹⁶不要將婢女看作不正經的女子。我因被人激動，愁苦太多，所以祈求到如今。」Do not take your servant for a wicked woman, for all this time I have been praying out of the depth of my anguish and grief.”

¹⁷以利說：「你可以平平安安地回去。願以色列的　神允准你向他所求的！」“Go in peace,” Eli replied, “and may the God of Israel grant the petition you have asked of Him.”

¹⁸哈拿說：「願婢女在你眼前蒙恩。」於是婦人走去吃飯，面上再不帶愁容了。“May your maidservant find favor with you,” said Hannah. Then she went on her way, and she began to eat, and her face was no longer downcast.

撒母耳出生

¹⁹次日清早，他們起來，在耶和華面前敬拜，就回拉瑪。到了家裡，以利加拿和妻哈拿同房，耶和華顧念哈拿，The next morning they got up early to bow in worship before the LORD, and then they returned home to Ramah. And Elkanah had relations with his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.

²⁰哈拿就懷孕。日期滿足，生了一個兒子，給他起名叫撒母耳，說：「這是我從耶和華那裡求來的。」So in the course of time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.”

哈拿把撒母耳歸給耶和華

²¹以利加拿和他全家都上示羅去，要向耶和華獻年祭，並還所許的願。Then Elkanah and all his house went up to make the annual sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow,

²²哈拿卻沒有上去，對丈夫說：「等孩子斷了奶，我便帶他上去朝見耶和華，使他永遠住在那裡。」but Hannah did not go. “After the boy is weaned,” she said to her husband, “I will take him to appear before the LORD and to stay there permanently.”

²³她丈夫以利加拿說：「就隨你的意行吧！可以等兒子斷了奶。但願耶和華應驗他的話。」於是婦人在家裡乳養兒子，直到斷了奶；“Do what you think is best,” her husband Elkanah replied, “and stay here until you have weaned him. Only may the LORD confirm His word.” So Hannah stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

²⁴既斷了奶，就把孩子帶上示羅，到了耶和華的殿；又帶了三隻公牛，一伊法細麵，一皮袋酒。（那時，孩子還小。）Once she had weaned him, Hannah took the boy with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine. Though the boy was still young, she brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh.

²⁵宰了一隻公牛，就領孩子到以利面前。And when they had slaughtered the bull, they brought the boy to Eli.

²⁶婦人說：「主啊，我敢在你面前起誓，從前在你這裡站著祈求耶和華的那婦人，就是我。“Please, my lord,” said Hannah, “as surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD.

²⁷我祈求為要得這孩子；耶和華已將我所求的賜給我了。I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him,

²⁸所以，我將這孩子歸與耶和華，使他終身歸與耶和華。」於是在那裡敬拜耶和華。I now dedicate the boy to the LORD. For as long as he lives, he is dedicated to the LORD.” So they worshiped the LORD there.

哈拿的禱告

¹哈拿禱告說：我的心因耶和華快樂；我的角因耶和華高舉。我的口向仇敵張開；我因耶和華的救恩歡欣。At that time Hannah prayed: “My heart rejoices in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, for I rejoice in Your salvation.

²只有耶和華為聖；除他以外沒有可比的，也沒有磐石像我們的　神。There is no one holy like the LORD. Indeed, there is no one besides You! And there is no Rock like our God.

³人不要誇口說驕傲的話，也不要出狂妄的言語；因耶和華是大有智識的　神，人的行為被他衡量。Do not boast so proudly, or let arrogance come from your mouth, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by Him actions are weighed.

⁴勇士的弓都已折斷；跌倒的人以力量束腰。The bows of the mighty are broken, but the feeble are equipped with strength.

⁵素來飽足的，反作用人求食；飢餓的，再不飢餓。不生育的，生了七個兒子；多有兒女的，反倒衰微。The well-fed hire themselves out for food, but the starving hunger no more. The barren woman gives birth to seven, but she who has many sons pines away.

⁶耶和華使人死，也使人活，使人下陰間，也使人往上升。The LORD brings death and gives life; He brings down to Sheol and raises up.

⁷他使人貧窮，也使人富足，使人卑微，也使人高貴。The LORD sends poverty and wealth; He humbles and He exalts.

⁸他從灰塵裡抬舉貧寒人，從糞堆中提拔窮乏人，使他們與王子同坐，得著榮耀的座位。地的柱子屬於耶和華；他將世界立在其上。He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap. He seats them among princes and bestows on them a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s, and upon them He has set the world.

⁹他必保護聖民的腳步，使惡人在黑暗中寂然不動；人都不能靠力量得勝。He guards the steps of His faithful ones, but the wicked perish in darkness; for by his own strength shall no man prevail.

¹⁰與耶和華爭競的，必被打碎；耶和華必從天上以雷攻擊他，必審判地極的人，將力量賜與所立的王，高舉受膏者的角。Those who oppose the LORD will be shattered. He will thunder from heaven against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth and will give power to His king. He will exalt the horn of His anointed.”

撒母耳留在示羅事奉

¹¹以利加拿往拉瑪回家去了。那孩子在祭司以利面前事奉耶和華。Then Elkanah went home to Ramah, but the boy began ministering to the LORD before Eli the priest.

以利的兒子藐視祭物

¹²以利的兩個兒子是惡人，不認識耶和華。Now the sons of Eli were wicked men; they had no regard for the LORD

¹³這二祭司待百姓是這樣的規矩：凡有人獻祭，正煮肉的時候，祭司的僕人就來，手拿三齒的叉子，or for the custom of the priests with the people. When any man offered a sacrifice, the servant of the priest would come with a three-pronged meat fork while the meat was boiling

¹⁴將叉子往罐裡，或鼎裡，或釜裡，或鍋裡一插，插上來的肉，祭司都取了去。凡上到示羅的以色列人，他們都是這樣看待。and plunge it into the pan or kettle or cauldron or cooking pot. And the priest would claim for himself whatever the meat fork brought up. This is how they treated all the Israelites who came to Shiloh.

¹⁵又在未燒脂油以前，祭司的僕人就來對獻祭的人說：「將肉給祭司，叫他烤吧。他不要煮過的，要生的。」Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”

¹⁶獻祭的人若說：「必須先燒脂油，然後你可以隨意取肉。」僕人就說：「你立時給我，不然我便搶去。」And if any man said to him, “The fat must be burned first; then you may take whatever you want,” the servant would reply, “No, you must give it to me right now. If you refuse, I will take it by force!”

¹⁷如此，這二少年人的罪在耶和華面前甚重了，因為他們藐視耶和華的祭物（或譯：他們使人厭棄給耶和華獻祭）。Thus the sin of these young men was severe in the sight of the LORD, for they were treating the LORD’s offering with contempt.

穿細麻布以弗得的撒母耳

¹⁸那時，撒母耳還是孩子，穿著細麻布的以弗得，侍立在耶和華面前。Now Samuel was ministering before the LORD—a boy wearing a linen ephod.

¹⁹他母親每年為他做一件小外袍，同著丈夫上來獻年祭的時候帶來給他。Each year his mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him when she went with her husband to offer the annual sacrifice.

²⁰以利為以利加拿和他的妻祝福，說：「願耶和華由這婦人再賜你後裔，代替你從耶和華求來的孩子。」他們就回本鄉去了。And Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife, saying, “May the LORD give you children by this woman in place of the one she dedicated to the LORD.” Then they would go home.

²¹耶和華眷顧哈拿，她就懷孕生了三個兒子，兩個女兒。那孩子撒母耳在耶和華面前漸漸長大。So the LORD attended to Hannah, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the LORD.

以利勸阻兒子無效

²²以利年甚老邁，聽見他兩個兒子待以色列眾人的事，又聽見他們與會幕門前伺候的婦人苟合，Now Eli was very old, and he heard about everything his sons were doing to all Israel and how they were sleeping with the women who served at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

²³他就對他們說：「你們為何行這樣的事呢？我從這眾百姓聽見你們的惡行。“Why are you doing these things?” Eli said to his sons. “I hear about your wicked deeds from all these people.

²⁴我兒啊，不可這樣！我聽見你們的風聲不好，你們使耶和華的百姓犯了罪。No, my sons; it is not a good report I hear circulating among the LORD’s people.

²⁵人若得罪人，有士師審判他；人若得罪耶和華，誰能為他祈求呢？」然而他們還是不聽父親的話，因為耶和華想要殺他們。If a man sins against another man, God can intercede for him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to their father, since the LORD intended to put them to death.

²⁶孩子撒母耳漸漸長大，耶和華與人越發喜愛他。And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with man.

財主和拉撒路

¹⁹「有一個財主穿著紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。Now there was a rich man dressed in purple and fine linen, who lived each day in joyous splendor.

²⁰又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身生瘡，被人放在財主門口，And a beggar named Lazarus lay at his gate, covered with sores

²¹要得財主桌子上掉下來的零碎充飢；並且狗來舔他的瘡。and longing to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and licked his sores.

死後處境的翻轉

²²後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裡。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。One day the beggar died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. And the rich man also died and was buried.

²³他在陰間受痛苦，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裡，In Hades, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham from afar, with Lazarus by his side.

²⁴就喊著說：『我祖亞伯拉罕哪，可憐我吧！打發拉撒路來，用指頭尖蘸點水，涼涼我的舌頭；因為我在這火焰裡，極其痛苦。』So he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue. For I am in agony in this fire.’

²⁵亞伯拉罕說：『兒啊，你該回想你生前享過福，拉撒路也受過苦；如今他在這裡得安慰，你倒受痛苦。But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.

²⁶不但這樣，並且在你我之間，有深淵限定，以致人要從這邊過到你們那邊是不能的；要從那邊過到我們這邊也是不能的。』And besides all this, a great chasm has been fixed between us and you, so that even those who wish cannot cross from here to you, nor can anyone cross from there to us.’

有摩西和先知的話

²⁷財主說：『我祖啊！既是這樣，求你打發拉撒路到我父家去；‘Then I beg you, father,’ he said, ‘send Lazarus to my father’s house,

²⁸因為我還有五個弟兄，他可以對他們作見證，免得他們也來到這痛苦的地方。』for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also end up in this place of torment.’

²⁹亞伯拉罕說：『他們有摩西和先知的話可以聽從。』But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let your brothers listen to them.’

³⁰他說：『我祖亞伯拉罕哪，不是的，若有一個從死裡復活的，到他們那裡去的，他們必要悔改。』‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone is sent to them from the dead, they will repent.’

³¹亞伯拉罕說：『若不聽從摩西和先知的話，就是有一個從死裡復活的，他們也是不聽勸。』」Then Abraham said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

不可絆倒人

¹耶穌又對門徒說：「絆倒人的事是免不了的；但那絆倒人的有禍了。Jesus said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come, but woe to the one through whom they come!

²就是把磨石拴在這人的頸項上，丟在海裡，還強如他把這小子裡的一個絆倒了。It would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.

饒恕弟兄

³你們要謹慎！若是你的弟兄得罪你，就勸戒他；他若懊悔，就饒恕他。Watch yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

⁴倘若他一天七次得罪你，又七次回轉，說：『我懊悔了』，你總要饒恕他。」Even if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times returns to say, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

信心像一粒芥菜種

⁵使徒對主說：「求主加增我們的信心。」The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

⁶主說：「你們若有信心像一粒芥菜種，就是對這棵桑樹說：『你要拔起根來，栽在海裡』，它也必聽從你們。And the Lord answered, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

無用的僕人

⁷你們誰有僕人耕地或是放羊，從田裡回來，就對他說：『你快來坐下吃飯』呢？Which of you whose servant comes in from plowing or shepherding in the field will say to him, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?

⁸豈不對他說：『你給我預備晚飯，束上帶子伺候我，等我吃喝完了，你才可以吃喝』嗎？Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my meal and dress yourself to serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you may eat and drink’?

⁹僕人照所吩咐的去做，主人還謝謝他嗎？Does he thank the servant because he did what he was told?

¹⁰這樣，你們做完了一切所吩咐的，只當說：『我們是無用的僕人，所做的本是我們應分做的。』」So you also, when you have done everything commanded of you, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”
