在約旦河邊等候

¹約書亞清早起來，和以色列眾人都離開什亭，來到約旦河，就住在那裡，等候過河。Early the next morning Joshua got up and left Shittim with all the Israelites. They went as far as the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over.

²過了三天，官長走遍營中，After three days the officers went through the camp

³吩咐百姓說：「你們看見耶和華─你們　神的約櫃，又見祭司利未人抬著，就要離開所住的地方，跟著約櫃去。and commanded the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God being carried by the Levitical priests, you are to set out from your positions and follow it.

⁴只是你們和約櫃相離要量二千肘，不可與約櫃相近，使你們知道所當走的路，因為這條路你們向來沒有走過。」But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between yourselves and the ark. Do not go near it, so that you can see the way to go, since you have never traveled this way before.”

你們要自潔

⁵約書亞吩咐百姓說：「你們要自潔，因為明天耶和華必在你們中間行奇事。」Then Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”

⁶約書亞又吩咐祭司說：「你們抬起約櫃，在百姓前頭過去。」於是他們抬起約櫃，在百姓前頭走。And he said to the priests, “Take the ark of the covenant and go on ahead of the people.” So they carried the ark of the covenant and went ahead of them.

神使約書亞尊大

⁷耶和華對約書亞說：「從今日起，我必使你在以色列眾人眼前尊大，使他們知道我怎樣與摩西同在，也必照樣與你同在。Now the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you just as I was with Moses.

⁸你要吩咐抬約櫃的祭司說：『你們到了約旦河的水邊上，就要在約旦河水裡站住。』」Command the priests carrying the ark of the covenant: ‘When you reach the edge of the waters, stand in the Jordan.’”

永生神在你們中間

⁹約書亞對以色列人說：「你們近前來，聽耶和華─你們　神的話。」So Joshua told the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God.”

^10–11約書亞說：「看哪，普天下主的約櫃必在你們前頭過去，到約旦河裡，因此你們就知道在你們中間有永生　神；並且他必在你們面前趕出迦南人、赫人、希未人、比利洗人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、耶布斯人。He continued, “This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that He will surely drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and Jebusites. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go ahead of you into the Jordan.

¹²你們現在要從以色列支派中揀選十二個人，每支派一人，Now choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe.

¹³等到抬普天下主耶和華約櫃的祭司把腳站在約旦河水裡，約旦河的水，就是從上往下流的水，必然斷絕，立起成壘。」When the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the Lord of all the earth—touch down in the waters of the Jordan, its flowing waters will be cut off and will stand up in a heap.”

約旦河水立起成壘

¹⁴百姓離開帳棚要過約旦河的時候，抬約櫃的祭司乃在百姓的前頭。So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carried the ark of the covenant ahead of them.

¹⁵他們到了約旦河，腳一入水（原來約旦河水在收割的日子漲過兩岸），Now the Jordan overflows its banks throughout the harvest season. But as soon as the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge,

¹⁶那從上往下流的水便在極遠之地、撒拉但旁的亞當城那裡停住，立起成壘；那往亞拉巴的海，就是鹽海，下流的水全然斷絕。於是百姓在耶利哥的對面過去了。the flowing water stood still. It backed up as far upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

¹⁷抬耶和華約櫃的祭司在約旦河中的乾地上站定，以色列眾人都從乾地上過去，直到國民盡都過了約旦河。The priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel crossed over the dry ground, until the entire nation had crossed the Jordan.

從河中取十二塊石頭

¹國民盡都過了約旦河，耶和華就對約書亞說：When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua,

²「你從民中要揀選十二個人，每支派一人，“Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe,

³吩咐他們說：『你們從這裡，從約旦河中、祭司腳站定的地方，取十二塊石頭帶過去，放在你們今夜要住宿的地方。』」and command them: ‘Take up for yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you spend the night.’”

⁴於是，約書亞將他從以色列人中所預備的那十二個人，每支派一人，都召了來。So Joshua summoned the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe,

⁵對他們說：「你們下約旦河中，過到耶和華─你們　神的約櫃前頭，按著以色列人十二支派的數目，每人取一塊石頭扛在肩上。and said to them, “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of Israel,

⁶這些石頭在你們中間可以作為證據。日後，你們的子孫問你們說：『這些石頭是甚麼意思？』to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’

⁷你們就對他們說：『這是因為約旦河的水在耶和華的約櫃前斷絕；約櫃過約旦河的時候，約旦河的水就斷絕了。這些石頭要作以色列人永遠的紀念。』」you are to tell them, ‘The waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters were cut off.’ Therefore these stones will be a memorial to the Israelites forever.”

⁸以色列人就照約書亞所吩咐的，按著以色列人支派的數目，從約旦河中取了十二塊石頭，都遵耶和華所吩咐約書亞的行了。他們把石頭帶過去，到他們所住宿的地方，就放在那裡。Thus the Israelites did as Joshua had commanded them. They took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each tribe of Israel, just as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them to the camp, where they set them down.

⁹約書亞另把十二塊石頭立在約旦河中，在抬約櫃的祭司腳站立的地方；直到今日，那石頭還在那裡。Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan, in the place where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant stood. And the stones are there to this day.

百姓急速過河

¹⁰抬約櫃的祭司站在約旦河中，等到耶和華曉諭約書亞吩咐百姓的事辦完了，是照摩西所吩咐約書亞的一切話。於是百姓急速過去了。Now the priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan until the people had completed everything the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell them, just as Moses had directed Joshua. The people hurried across,

¹¹眾百姓盡都過了河，耶和華的約櫃和祭司就在百姓面前過去。and after everyone had finished crossing, the priests with the ark of the LORD crossed in the sight of the people.

¹²流便人、迦得人、瑪拿西半支派的人都照摩西所吩咐他們的，帶著兵器在以色列人前頭過去。The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over before the Israelites, armed for battle as Moses had instructed them.

¹³約有四萬人都準備打仗，在耶和華面前過去，到耶利哥的平原，等候上陣。About 40,000 troops armed for battle crossed over before the LORD into the plains of Jericho.

百姓敬畏約書亞

¹⁴當那日，耶和華使約書亞在以色列眾人眼前尊大。在他平生的日子，百姓敬畏他，像從前敬畏摩西一樣。On that day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they revered him all the days of his life, just as they had revered Moses.

祭司上來，河水復流

¹⁵耶和華曉諭約書亞說：Then the LORD said to Joshua,

¹⁶「你吩咐抬法櫃的祭司從約旦河裡上來。」“Command the priests who carry the ark of the Testimony to come up from the Jordan.”

¹⁷約書亞就吩咐祭司說：「你們從約旦河裡上來。」So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up from the Jordan.”

¹⁸抬耶和華約櫃的祭司從約旦河裡上來，腳掌剛落旱地，約旦河的水就流到原處，仍舊漲過兩岸。When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the Jordan and their feet touched the dry land, the waters of the Jordan returned to their course and overflowed all the banks as before.

在吉甲立石作紀念

¹⁹正月初十日，百姓從約旦河裡上來，就在吉甲，在耶利哥的東邊安營。On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.

²⁰他們從約旦河中取來的那十二塊石頭，約書亞就立在吉甲，And there at Gilgal Joshua set up the twelve stones they had taken from the Jordan.

²¹對以色列人說：「日後你們的子孫問他們的父親說：『這些石頭是甚麼意思？』Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What is the meaning of these stones?’

²²你們就告訴他們說：『以色列人曾走乾地過這約旦河；you are to tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’

²³因為耶和華─你們的　神在你們前面使約旦河的水乾了，等著你們過來，就如耶和華─你們的　神從前在我們前面使紅海乾了，等著我們過來一樣，For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as He did to the Red Sea, which He dried up before us until we had crossed over.

²⁴要使地上萬民都知道，耶和華的手大有能力，也要使你們永遠敬畏耶和華─你們的　神。』」He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”

百夫長的僕人病危

¹耶穌對百姓講完了這一切的話，就進了迦百農。When Jesus had concluded His discourse in the hearing of the people, He went to Capernaum.

²有一個百夫長所寶貴的僕人害病，快要死了。There a highly valued servant of a centurion was sick and about to die.

³百夫長風聞耶穌的事，就託猶太人的幾個長老去求耶穌來救他的僕人。When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to ask Him to come and heal his servant.

⁴他們到了耶穌那裡，就切切地求他說：「你給他行這事是他所配得的；They came to Jesus and pleaded with Him earnestly, “This man is worthy to have You grant this,

⁵因為他愛我們的百姓，給我們建造會堂。」for he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.”

只要你說一句話

⁶耶穌就和他們同去。離那家不遠，百夫長託幾個朋友去見耶穌，對他說：「主啊！不要勞動；因你到我舍下，我不敢當。So Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends with the message: “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy to have You come under my roof.

⁷我也自以為不配去見你，只要你說一句話，我的僕人就必好了。That is why I did not consider myself worthy to come to You. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.

⁸因為我在人的權下，也有兵在我以下，對這個說：『去！』他就去；對那個說：『來！』他就來；對我的僕人說：『你做這事！』他就去做。」For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes, and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”

這麼大的信心

⁹耶穌聽見這話，就希奇他，轉身對跟隨的眾人說：「我告訴你們，這麼大的信心，就是在以色列中，我也沒有遇見過。」When Jesus heard this, He marveled at the centurion. Turning to the crowd following Him, He said, “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.”

¹⁰那託來的人回到百夫長家裡，看見僕人已經好了。And when the messengers returned to the house, they found the servant in good health.

拿因城的送殯行列

¹¹過了不多時（有古卷：次日），耶穌往一座城去，這城名叫拿因，他的門徒和極多的人與他同行。Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain. His disciples went with Him, accompanied by a large crowd.

¹²將近城門，有一個死人被抬出來。這人是他母親獨生的兒子；他母親又是寡婦。有城裡的許多人同著寡婦送殯。As He approached the town gate, He saw a dead man being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.

少年人，起來

¹³主看見那寡婦，就憐憫她，對她說：「不要哭！」When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said, “Do not weep.”

¹⁴於是進前按著槓，抬的人就站住了。耶穌說：「少年人，我吩咐你，起來！」Then He went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. “Young man,” He said, “I tell you, get up!”

¹⁵那死人就坐起，並且說話。耶穌便把他交給他母親。And the dead man sat up and began to speak! Then Jesus gave him back to his mother.

神眷顧了祂的百姓

¹⁶眾人都驚奇，歸榮耀與　神，說：「有大先知在我們中間興起來了！」又說：「　神眷顧了他的百姓！」A sense of awe swept over all of them, and they glorified God. “A great prophet has appeared among us!” they said. “God has visited His people!”

¹⁷他這事的風聲就傳遍了猶太和周圍地方。And the news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and all the surrounding region.
