利亞生了四個兒子

³¹耶和華見利亞失寵（原文是被恨；下同），就使她生育，拉結卻不生育。When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.

³²利亞懷孕生子，就給他起名叫流便（就是有兒子的意思），因而說：「耶和華看見我的苦情，如今我的丈夫必愛我。」And Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Reuben, for she said, “The LORD has seen my affliction. Surely my husband will love me now.”

³³她又懷孕生子，就說：「耶和華因為聽見我失寵，所以又賜給我這個兒子」，於是給他起名叫西緬（就是聽見的意思）。Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Because the LORD has heard that I am unloved, He has given me this son as well.” So she named him Simeon.

³⁴她又懷孕生子，起名叫利未（就是聯合的意思），說：「我給丈夫生了三個兒子，他必與我聯合。」Once again Leah conceived and gave birth to a son, and she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.

³⁵她又懷孕生子，說：「這回我要讚美耶和華」，因此給他起名叫猶大（就是讚美的意思）。這才停了生育。And once more she conceived and gave birth to a son and said, “This time I will praise the LORD.” So she named him Judah. Then Leah stopped having children.

拉結的使女辟拉生子

¹拉結見自己不給雅各生子，就嫉妒她姊姊，對雅各說：「你給我孩子，不然我就死了。」When Rachel saw that she was not bearing any children for Jacob, she envied her sister. “Give me children, or I will die!” she said to Jacob.

²雅各向拉結生氣，說：「叫你不生育的是　神，我豈能代替他作主呢？」Jacob became angry with Rachel and said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld children from you?”

³拉結說：「有我的使女辟拉在這裡，你可以與她同房，使她生子在我膝下，我便因她也得孩子（原文是被建立）。」Then she said, “Here is my maidservant Bilhah. Sleep with her, that she may bear children for me, so that through her I too can build a family.”

⁴拉結就把她的使女辟拉給丈夫為妾；雅各便與她同房，So Rachel gave Jacob her servant Bilhah as a wife, and he slept with her,

⁵辟拉就懷孕，給雅各生了一個兒子。and Bilhah conceived and bore him a son.

⁶拉結說：「　神伸了我的冤，也聽了我的聲音，賜我一個兒子」，因此給他起名叫但（就是伸冤的意思）。Then Rachel said, “God has vindicated me; He has heard my plea and given me a son.” So she named him Dan.

⁷拉結的使女辟拉又懷孕，給雅各生了第二個兒子。And Rachel’s servant Bilhah conceived again and bore Jacob a second son.

⁸拉結說：「我與我姊姊大大相爭，並且得勝」，於是給他起名叫拿弗他利（就是相爭的意思）。Then Rachel said, “In my great struggles, I have wrestled with my sister and won.” So she named him Naphtali.

利亞的使女悉帕生子

⁹利亞見自己停了生育，就把使女悉帕給雅各為妾。When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she gave her servant Zilpah to Jacob as a wife.

¹⁰利亞的使女悉帕給雅各生了一個兒子。And Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a son.

¹¹利亞說：「萬幸！」於是給他起名叫迦得（就是萬幸的意思）。Then Leah said, “How fortunate!” So she named him Gad.

¹²利亞的使女悉帕又給雅各生了第二個兒子。When Leah’s servant Zilpah bore Jacob a second son,

¹³利亞說：「我有福啊，眾女子都要稱我是有福的」，於是給他起名叫亞設（就是有福的意思）。Leah said, “How happy I am! For the women call me happy.” So she named him Asher.

風茄

¹⁴割麥子的時候，流便往田裡去，尋見風茄，拿來給他母親利亞。拉結對利亞說：「請你把你兒子的風茄給我些。」Now during the wheat harvest, Reuben went out and found some mandrakes in the field. When he brought them to his mother, Rachel begged Leah, “Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”

¹⁵利亞說：「你奪了我的丈夫還算小事嗎？你又要奪我兒子的風茄嗎？」拉結說：「為你兒子的風茄，今夜他可以與你同寢。」But Leah replied, “Is it not enough that you have taken away my husband? Now you want to take my son’s mandrakes as well?” “Very well,” said Rachel, “he may sleep with you tonight in exchange for your son’s mandrakes.”

¹⁶到了晚上，雅各從田裡回來，利亞出來迎接他，說：「你要與我同寢，因為我實在用我兒子的風茄把你雇下了。」那一夜，雅各就與她同寢。When Jacob came in from the field that evening, Leah went out to meet him and said, “You must come with me, for I have hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” So he slept with her that night.

利亞又生子

¹⁷神應允了利亞，她就懷孕，給雅各生了第五個兒子。And God listened to Leah, and she conceived and bore a fifth son to Jacob.

¹⁸利亞說：「　神給了我價值，因為我把使女給了我丈夫」，於是給他起名叫以薩迦（就是價值的意思）。Then Leah said, “God has rewarded me for giving my maidservant to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.

¹⁹利亞又懷孕，給雅各生了第六個兒子。Again Leah conceived and bore a sixth son to Jacob.

²⁰利亞說：「　神賜我厚賞；我丈夫必與我同住，因我給他生了六個兒子」，於是給他起名西布倫（就是同住的意思）。“God has given me a good gift,” she said. “This time my husband will honor me, because I have borne him six sons.” And she named him Zebulun.

²¹後來又生了一個女兒，給她起名叫底拿。After that, Leah gave birth to a daughter and named her Dinah.

神顧念拉結，約瑟出生

²²神顧念拉結，應允了她，使她能生育。Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb,

²³拉結懷孕生子，說：「　神除去了我的羞恥」，and she conceived and gave birth to a son. “God has taken away my shame,” she said.

²⁴就給他起名叫約瑟（就是增添的意思），意思說：「願耶和華再增添我一個兒子。」She named him Joseph, and said, “May the LORD add to me another son.”

雅各與拉班議定工價

²⁵拉結生約瑟之後，雅各對拉班說：「請打發我走，叫我回到我本鄉本土去。Now after Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, “Send me on my way so I can return to my homeland.

²⁶請你把我服事你所得的妻子和兒女給我，讓我走；我怎樣服事你，你都知道。」Give me my wives and children for whom I have served you, that I may go on my way. You know how hard I have worked for you.”

²⁷拉班對他說：「我若在你眼前蒙恩，請你仍與我同住，因為我已算定，耶和華賜福與我是為你的緣故」；But Laban replied, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please stay. I have learned by divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.”

²⁸又說：「請你定你的工價，我就給你。」And he added, “Name your wages, and I will pay them.”

²⁹雅各對他說：「我怎樣服事你，你的牲畜在我手裡怎樣，是你知道的。Then Jacob answered, “You know how I have served you and how your livestock have thrived under my care.

³⁰我未來之先，你所有的很少，現今卻發大眾多，耶和華隨我的腳步賜福與你。如今，我甚麼時候才為自己興家立業呢？」Indeed, you had very little before my arrival, but now your wealth has increased many times over. The LORD has blessed you wherever I set foot. But now, when may I also provide for my own household?”

³¹拉班說：「我當給你甚麼呢？」雅各說：「甚麼你也不必給我，只有一件事，你若應承，我便仍舊牧放你的羊群。“What can I give you?” Laban asked. “You do not need to give me anything,” Jacob replied. “If you do this one thing for me, I will keep on shepherding and keeping your flocks.

³²今天我要走遍你的羊群，把綿羊中凡有點的、有斑的，和黑色的，並山羊中凡有斑的、有點的，都挑出來；將來這一等的就算我的工價。Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb, and every spotted or speckled goat. These will be my wages.

³³以後你來查看我的工價，凡在我手裡的山羊不是有點有斑的，綿羊不是黑色的，那就算是我偷的；這樣便可證出我的公義來。」So my honesty will testify for me when you come to check on my wages in the future. If I have any goats that are not speckled or spotted, or any lambs that are not dark-colored, they will be considered stolen.”

³⁴拉班說：「好啊！我情願照著你的話行。」“Agreed,” said Laban. “Let it be as you have said.”

³⁵當日，拉班把有紋的、有斑的公山羊，有點的、有斑的、有雜白紋的母山羊，並黑色的綿羊，都挑出來，交在他兒子們的手下，That very day Laban removed all the streaked or spotted male goats and every speckled or spotted female goat—every one that had any white on it—and every dark-colored lamb, and he placed them under the care of his sons.

³⁶又使自己和雅各相離三天的路程。雅各就牧養拉班其餘的羊。Then he put a three-day journey between himself and Jacob, while Jacob was shepherding the rest of Laban’s flocks.

剝了皮的枝子

³⁷雅各拿楊樹、杏樹、楓樹的嫩枝，將皮剝成白紋，使枝子露出白的來，Jacob, however, took fresh branches of poplar, almond, and plane trees, and peeled the bark, exposing the white inner wood of the branches.

³⁸將剝了皮的枝子，對著羊群，插在飲羊的水溝裡和水槽裡，羊來喝的時候，牝牡配合。Then he set the peeled branches in the watering troughs in front of the flocks coming in to drink. So when the flocks were in heat and came to drink,

³⁹羊對著枝子配合，就生下有紋的、有點的、有斑的來。they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.

⁴⁰雅各把羊羔分出來，使拉班的羊與這有紋和黑色的羊相對，把自己的羊另放一處，不叫他和拉班的羊混雜。Jacob set apart the young, but made the rest face the streaked dark-colored sheep in Laban’s flocks. Then he set his own stock apart and did not put them with Laban’s animals.

⁴¹到羊群肥壯配合的時候，雅各就把枝子插在水溝裡，使羊對著枝子配合。Whenever the stronger females of the flock were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs, in full view of the animals, so that they would breed in front of the branches.

⁴²只是到羊瘦弱配合的時候就不插枝子。這樣，瘦弱的就歸拉班，肥壯的就歸雅各。But if the animals were weak, he did not set out the branches. So the weaker animals went to Laban and the stronger ones to Jacob.

⁴³於是雅各極其發大，得了許多的羊群、僕婢、駱駝，和驢。Thus Jacob became exceedingly prosperous. He owned large flocks, maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys.

神吩咐雅各回鄉

¹雅各聽見拉班的兒子們有話說：「雅各把我們父親所有的都奪了去，並藉著我們父親的，得了這一切的榮耀（或譯：財）。」Now Jacob heard that Laban’s sons were saying, “Jacob has taken away all that belonged to our father and built all this wealth at our father’s expense.”

²雅各見拉班的氣色向他不如從前了。And Jacob saw from the countenance of Laban that his attitude toward him had changed.

³耶和華對雅各說：「你要回你祖、你父之地，到你親族那裡去，我必與你同在。」Then the LORD said to Jacob, “Go back to the land of your fathers and to your kindred, and I will be with you.”

⁴雅各就打發人，叫拉結和利亞到田野羊群那裡來，So Jacob sent word and called Rachel and Leah to the field where his flocks were,

⁵對她們說：「我看你們父親的氣色向我不如從前了；但我父親的　神向來與我同在。and he told them, “I can see from your father’s countenance that his attitude toward me has changed; but the God of my father has been with me.

⁶你們也知道，我盡了我的力量服事你們的父親。You know that I have served your father with all my strength.

⁷你們的父親欺哄我，十次改了我的工價；然而　神不容他害我。And although he has cheated me and changed my wages ten times, God has not allowed him to harm me.

⁸他若說：『有點的歸你作工價』，羊群所生的都有點；他若說：『有紋的歸你作工價』，羊群所生的都有紋。If he said, ‘The speckled will be your wages,’ then the whole flock bore speckled offspring. If he said, ‘The streaked will be your wages,’ then the whole flock bore streaked offspring.

⁹這樣，　神把你們父親的牲畜奪來賜給我了。Thus God has taken away your father’s livestock and given them to me.

¹⁰羊配合的時候，我夢中舉目一看，見跳母羊的公羊都是有紋的、有點的、有花斑的。When the flocks were breeding, I saw in a dream that the streaked, spotted, and speckled males were mating with the females.

¹¹神的使者在那夢中呼叫我說：『雅各。』我說：『我在這裡。』In that dream the angel of God said to me, ‘Jacob!’ And I replied, ‘Here I am.’

¹²他說：『你舉目觀看，跳母羊的公羊都是有紋的、有點的、有花斑的；凡拉班向你所做的，我都看見了。‘Look up,’ he said, ‘and see that all the males that are mating with the flock are streaked, spotted, or speckled; for I have seen all that Laban has done to you.

¹³我是伯特利的　神；你在那裡用油澆過柱子，向我許過願。現今你起來，離開這地，回你本地去吧！』」I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and made a solemn vow to Me. Now get up, leave this land at once, and return to your native land.’”

¹⁴拉結和利亞回答雅各說：「在我們父親的家裡還有我們可得的分嗎？還有我們的產業嗎？And Rachel and Leah replied, “Do we have any portion or inheritance left in our father’s house?

¹⁵我們不是被他當作外人嗎？因為他賣了我們，吞了我們的價值。Are we not regarded by him as outsiders? Not only has he sold us, but he has certainly squandered what was paid for us.

¹⁶神從我們父親所奪出來的一切財物，那就是我們和我們孩子們的。現今凡　神所吩咐你的，你只管去行吧！」Surely all the wealth that God has taken away from our father belongs to us and to our children. So do whatever God has told you.”

雅各帶全家逃走

¹⁷雅各起來，使他的兒子和妻子都騎上駱駝，Then Jacob got up and put his children and his wives on camels,

¹⁸又帶著他在巴旦‧亞蘭所得的一切牲畜和財物，往迦南地、他父親以撒那裡去了。and he drove all his livestock before him, along with all the possessions he had acquired in Paddan-aram, to go to his father Isaac in the land in Canaan.

¹⁹當時拉班剪羊毛去了，拉結偷了他父親家中的神像。Now while Laban was out shearing his sheep, Rachel stole her father’s household idols.

²⁰雅各背著亞蘭人拉班偷走了，並不告訴他，Moreover, Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him that he was running away.

²¹就帶著所有的逃跑。他起身過大河，面向基列山行去。So he fled with all his possessions, crossed the Euphrates, and headed for the hill country of Gilead.

拉班追趕，搜尋神像

²²到第三日，有人告訴拉班，雅各逃跑了。On the third day Laban was informed that Jacob had fled.

²³拉班帶領他的眾弟兄去追趕，追了七日，在基列山就追上了。So he took his relatives with him, pursued Jacob for seven days, and overtook him in the hill country of Gilead.

²⁴夜間，　神到亞蘭人拉班那裡，在夢中對他說：「你要小心，不可與雅各說好說歹。」But that night God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream and warned him, “Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.”

²⁵拉班追上雅各。雅各在山上支搭帳棚；拉班和他的眾弟兄也在基列山上支搭帳棚。Now Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him, and Laban and his relatives camped there as well.

²⁶拉班對雅各說：「你做的是甚麼事呢？你背著我偷走了，又把我的女兒們帶了去，如同用刀劍擄去的一般。Then Laban said to Jacob, “What have you done? You have deceived me and carried off my daughters like captives of war!

²⁷你為甚麼暗暗地逃跑，偷著走，並不告訴我，叫我可以歡樂、唱歌、擊鼓、彈琴地送你回去？Why did you run away secretly and deceive me, without even telling me? I would have sent you away with joy and singing, with tambourines and harps.

²⁸又不容我與外孫和女兒親嘴？你所行的真是愚昧！But you did not even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters goodbye. Now you have done a foolish thing.

²⁹我手中原有能力害你，只是你父親的　神昨夜對我說：『你要小心，不可與雅各說好說歹。』I have power to do you great harm, but last night the God of your father said to me, ‘Be careful not to say anything to Jacob, either good or bad.’

³⁰現在你雖然想你父家，不得不去，為甚麼又偷了我的神像呢？」Now you have gone off because you long for your father’s house. But why have you stolen my gods?”

³¹雅各回答拉班說：「恐怕你把你的女兒從我奪去，所以我逃跑。“I was afraid,” Jacob answered, “for I thought you would take your daughters from me by force.

³²至於你的神像，你在誰那裡搜出來，就不容誰存活。當著我們的眾弟兄，你認一認，在我這裡有甚麼東西是你的，就拿去。」原來雅各不知道拉結偷了那些神像。If you find your gods with anyone here, he shall not live! In the presence of our relatives, see for yourself if anything is yours, and take it back.” For Jacob did not know that Rachel had stolen the idols.

³³拉班進了雅各、利亞，並兩個使女的帳棚，都沒有搜出來，就從利亞的帳棚出來，進了拉結的帳棚。So Laban went into Jacob’s tent, then Leah’s tent, and then the tents of the two maidservants, but he found nothing. Then he left Leah’s tent and entered Rachel’s tent.

³⁴拉結已經把神像藏在駱駝的馱簍裡，便坐在上頭。拉班摸遍了那帳棚，並沒有摸著。Now Rachel had taken Laban’s household idols, put them in the saddlebag of her camel, and was sitting on them. And Laban searched everything in the tent but found nothing.

³⁵拉結對她父親說：「現在我身上不便，不能在你面前起來，求我主不要生氣。」這樣，拉班搜尋神像，竟沒有搜出來。Rachel said to her father, “Sir, do not be angry that I cannot stand up before you; for I am having my period.” So Laban searched but could not find the household idols.

雅各斥責拉班

³⁶雅各就發怒斥責拉班說：「我有甚麼過犯，有甚麼罪惡，你竟這樣火速地追我？Then Jacob became incensed and challenged Laban. “What is my crime?” he said. “For what sin of mine have you so hotly pursued me?

³⁷你摸遍了我一切的家具，你搜出甚麼來呢？可以放在你我弟兄面前，叫他們在你我中間辨別辨別。You have searched all my goods! Have you found anything that belongs to you? Put it here before my brothers and yours, that they may judge between the two of us.

³⁸我在你家這二十年，你的母綿羊、母山羊沒有掉過胎。你群中的公羊，我沒有吃過；I have been with you for twenty years now. Your sheep and goats have not miscarried, nor have I eaten the rams of your flock.

³⁹被野獸撕裂的，我沒有帶來給你，是我自己賠上。無論是白日，是黑夜，被偷去的，你都向我索要。I did not bring you anything torn by wild beasts; I bore the loss myself. And you demanded payment from me for what was stolen by day or night.

⁴⁰我白日受盡乾熱，黑夜受盡寒霜，不得合眼睡著，我常是這樣。As it was, the heat consumed me by day and the frost by night, and sleep fled from my eyes.

⁴¹我這二十年在你家裡，為你的兩個女兒服事你十四年，為你的羊群服事你六年，你又十次改了我的工價。Thus for twenty years I have served in your household—fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks—and you have changed my wages ten times!

⁴²若不是我父親以撒所敬畏的　神，就是亞伯拉罕的　神與我同在，你如今必定打發我空手而去。　神看見我的苦情和我的勞碌，就在昨夜責備你。」If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely by now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my affliction and the toil of my hands, and last night He rendered judgment.”

立石堆為證

⁴³拉班回答雅各說：「這女兒是我的女兒，這些孩子是我的孩子，這些羊群也是我的羊群；凡在你眼前的都是我的。我的女兒並她們所生的孩子，我今日能向他們做甚麼呢？But Laban answered Jacob, “These daughters are my daughters, these sons are my sons, and these flocks are my flocks! Everything you see is mine! Yet what can I do today about these daughters of mine or the children they have borne?

⁴⁴來吧！你我二人可以立約，作你我中間的證據。」Come now, let us make a covenant, you and I, and let it serve as a witness between you and me.”

⁴⁵雅各就拿一塊石頭立作柱子，So Jacob picked out a stone and set it up as a pillar,

⁴⁶又對眾弟兄說：「你們堆聚石頭。」他們就拿石頭來堆成一堆，大家便在旁邊吃喝。and he said to his relatives, “Gather some stones.” So they took stones and made a mound, and there by the mound they ate.

⁴⁷拉班稱那石堆為伊迦爾‧撒哈杜他，雅各卻稱那石堆為迦累得（都是以石堆為證的意思）。Laban called it Jegar-sahadutha, and Jacob called it Galeed.

⁴⁸拉班說：「今日這石堆作你我中間的證據。」因此這地方名叫迦累得，Then Laban declared, “This mound is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore the place was called Galeed.

⁴⁹又叫米斯巴，意思說：「我們彼此離別以後，願耶和華在你我中間鑒察。It was also called Mizpah, because Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other.

⁵⁰你若苦待我的女兒，又在我的女兒以外另娶妻，雖沒有人知道，卻有　神在你我中間作見證。」If you mistreat my daughters or take other wives, although no one is with us, remember that God is a witness between you and me.”

⁵¹拉班又說：「你看我在你我中間所立的這石堆和柱子。Laban also said to Jacob, “Here is the mound, and here is the pillar I have set up between you and me.

⁵²這石堆作證據，這柱子也作證據。我必不過這石堆去害你；你也不可過這石堆和柱子來害我。This mound is a witness, and this pillar is a witness, that I will not go past this mound to harm you, and you will not go past this mound and pillar to harm me.

⁵³但願亞伯拉罕的　神和拿鶴的　神，就是他們父親的　神，在你我中間判斷。」雅各就指著他父親以撒所敬畏的　神起誓，May the God of Abraham and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us.” So Jacob swore by the Fear of his father Isaac.

⁵⁴又在山上獻祭，請眾弟兄來吃飯。他們吃了飯，便在山上住宿。Then Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and invited his relatives to eat a meal. And after they had eaten, they spent the night on the mountain.

⁵⁵拉班清早起來，與他外孫和女兒親嘴，給他們祝福，回往自己的地方去了。Early the next morning, Laban got up and kissed his grandchildren and daughters and blessed them. Then he left to return home.

如同羊進入狼群

¹⁶「我差你們去，如同羊進入狼群；所以你們要靈巧像蛇，馴良像鴿子。Behold, I am sending you out like sheep among wolves; therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

¹⁷你們要防備人；因為他們要把你們交給公會，也要在會堂裡鞭打你們，But beware of men, for they will hand you over to their councils and flog you in their synagogues.

¹⁸並且你們要為我的緣故被送到諸侯君王面前，對他們和外邦人作見證。On My account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

¹⁹你們被交的時候，不要思慮怎樣說話，或說甚麼話。到那時候，必賜給你們當說的話；But when they hand you over, do not worry about how to respond or what to say. In that hour you will be given what to say.

²⁰因為不是你們自己說的，乃是你們父的靈在你們裡頭說的。For it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

家人相害，為主的名被恨惡

²¹弟兄要把弟兄，父親要把兒子，送到死地；兒女要與父母為敵，害死他們；Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rise against their parents and have them put to death.

²²並且你們要為我的名被眾人恨惡。惟有忍耐到底的必然得救。You will be hated by everyone because of My name, but the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.

²³有人在這城裡逼迫你們，就逃到那城裡去。我實在告訴你們，以色列的城邑，你們還沒有走遍，人子就到了。When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next. Truly I tell you, you will not reach all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

學生不能高過先生

²⁴學生不能高過先生；僕人不能高過主人。A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

²⁵學生和先生一樣，僕人和主人一樣，也就罷了。人既罵家主是別西卜（別西卜：是鬼王的名），何況他的家人呢？」It is enough for a disciple to be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebul, how much more the members of his household!

不要怕他們

²⁶「所以，不要怕他們；因為掩蓋的事沒有不露出來的，隱藏的事沒有不被人知道的。So do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, and nothing hidden that will not be made known.

²⁷我在暗中告訴你們的，你們要在明處說出來；你們耳中所聽的，要在房上宣揚出來。What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops.

²⁸那殺身體、不能殺靈魂的，不要怕他們；惟有能把身體和靈魂都滅在地獄裡的，正要怕他。Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

²⁹兩個麻雀不是賣一分銀子嗎？若是你們的父不許，一個也不能掉在地上；Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

³⁰就是你們的頭髮也都被數過了。And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

³¹所以，不要懼怕，你們比許多麻雀還貴重！」So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

在人面前認主

³²「凡在人面前認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必認他；Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father in heaven.

³³凡在人面前不認我的，我在我天上的父面前也必不認他。」But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.

不是叫地上太平

³⁴「你們不要想我來是叫地上太平；我來並不是叫地上太平，乃是叫地上動刀兵。Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

³⁵因為我來是叫人與父親生疏，女兒與母親生疏，媳婦與婆婆生疏。For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

³⁶人的仇敵就是自己家裡的人。A man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’

背起十字架跟從主

³⁷「愛父母過於愛我的，不配作我的門徒；愛兒女過於愛我的，不配作我的門徒；Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me;

³⁸不背著他的十字架跟從我的，也不配作我的門徒。and anyone who does not take up his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me.

³⁹得著生命的，將要失喪生命；為我失喪生命的，將要得著生命。」Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

接待門徒必得賞賜

⁴⁰「人接待你們就是接待我；接待我就是接待那差我來的。He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me.

⁴¹人因為先知的名接待先知，必得先知所得的賞賜；人因為義人的名接待義人，必得義人所得的賞賜。Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.

⁴²無論何人，因為門徒的名，只把一杯涼水給這小子裡的一個喝，我實在告訴你們，這人不能不得賞賜。」And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”

往各城去傳道

¹耶穌吩咐完了十二個門徒，就離開那裡，往各城去傳道、教訓人。After Jesus had finished instructing His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.
